Bug #: 29369
Summary: [World of Warcraft] Sound is lost when switching X
Servers
Product: Wine
Version: 1.3.35
Platform: x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: wolterh6(a)gmail.com
Classification: Unclassified
At first sight, this might seem to you like a duplicate of bug #9087 #23925 or
#9276, but it is not.
I am using WoW version 3.3.5 and my computer is running Ubuntu 11.04 64bit,
thus PulseAudio as sound server.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Switch to an unused tty console.
2. Run the following command:
xinit -- :1 & ck-launch-session &
(Which will create a new X Server and add sound to it)
In my case, the new X Server is allocated at the tty8.
3. Start WoW. If the application starts without sound, it might work to change
the Game Sound Output options around.
4. Switch back to your previous tty, e.g. tty7
5. Switch to the tty with WoW, e.g. tty8
You will notice sound has gone away.
Expected results:
Sound should be still playing, like if the switches were never performed.
Known workarounds:
Because the problem is caused by the incompatibilities between Wine and
PulseAudio, one can run WoW with the command:
pasuspender wine Wow
And WoW's sound will be perfect, no matter what; but in my case it is not a
viable option since I use skype at the same time (which relies on PulseAudio on
my setup).

Summary: Skype 5.3: Not detecting any sound.
Product: Wine
Version: 1.3.23
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: karlmk(a)hotmail.com
When installing Skype as described in my appdb entry (download .exe, run, find
.msi install that) Skype does not detect any soundcard or sound resources. The
only entry in Skype's Audio settings are "default" but nothing comes out or
goes in.
I should mention that during the program launch, it experiences one crash
(crash report box) and one access violation (small access violation box). I'll
try and find/create bugs for those cases as well.
Apart from Skype not detecting any sound resources (and trying to display the
default start screen in Firefox) it works more or less flawless, I'd say 90%,
and if we can get this bug fixed, then it would be really damn close to 100%
functionality.
Yes, I know that there is a Linux client, but this is nothing short of a shame
when it comes to features.
Well, there are a LOT of messages that pops up in console when this application
is launched, I'll give you a way to reproduce this bug instead of attaching a
lot of useless logs. Of course if you need anything from me with regards to
zero in on this bug I'm more than happy to accommodate.
1. Download from skype.com the windows client.
2. Start the installer, and when it is done with the downloading it
freezes/halts.
3. Kill it/Exit it.
4. Find Skype.msi in .wine/drive_c/users/Public/Application\
Data/Skype/\{D6F879CC-59D6-4D4B-AE9B-D761E48D25ED\}/ and run it with "msiexec
/i Skype.msi"
5. Log in, check sound preferences, only "default" is displayed.

Hi! I'm using eMule Plus 1.2d, and I have enabled notifications in "eMule Plus
-> Preferences -> Messaging -> Notifications" (see attached image).
Problem is that the popup window is created and displayed out of the screen.
I don't know if it's trying to base it position relatively to something that
does not exist (like Windows "Start" button or Windows Systray).

Hello everyone,
when testing "Photoshop Elements Organizer" (Version 11) I ran into a crash.
This occurred to me after performing the following steps:
- Open the Organizer
- Click on one of the elements on top of the screen "Media", "Places", "Events"
etc.
I don't know which of the elements caused the application to crash but I submit
a backtrace and hope you can make sense of it.

The sky is in front of the landscape in the German Last Chaos (not sure if the
English version has the same bug) when ORM=fbo. This happens in the log in
screen and in the game (from time to time). Setting ORM=backbuffer fixes this
issue.
Steps to reproduce:
- get a copy of Last Chaos (http://lastchaos.gamigo.de/download/)
- install it
- start the game with wine
- on the small screen hit start
- now you are at the log in screen, where the bug (see attachment) is visible,
if you wait a short time (~30 seconds)
System specs:
- 8800GTS, 190.18
- Fedora 11, 2.6.29.6-217.2.3.fc11.x86_64
- wine-1.1.27

I wanted to test bug 28479, so I tried Adobe Illustrator. The adobe website
won't let you download under Linux Chrome/Firefox, but Firefox under Wine works
(if you run in win7 mode. In xp, it tells you that Adobe no longer supports the
operating system).
Trying to install under winxp mode fails, so I tried win7 (no other changes,
32-bit prefix). Very quickly crashed:

I fixed up a quick patch with completely stubbed functions for this that gets

we can get away with complete stubs for IRunnableObject.
