With F5 (calculate sheet) or right mouse click and "calculate line" SpeQ works well. It did work once ago. I think it was with wine 1.4 Similar problem with "Ultra Edit": After hitting Enter a new line is generated but the coursor is placed behind the last line. The regular email via port 25 and 110 seem to work fine, but with accounts like gmail, one must use secure ports 995 and 465. Attempts to do this result in no trace file. I'm not clear if and how these ports need to be activated in wine, or if some dll needs to be added. Side note: - create a new schematic, press F2 to bring up the device list. - select current, place it on the schematic - right-click on it and type '1', no quotes, then OK - press 'R', place it next to the current source, in parallel - right click on it and replace "R" with '1', no quotes, then OK - press 'G' and place ground on the lower pins of both components - press F3 and draw a net by clicking on the unconnected current source's pin, then on the resistor's - press 'S' and write ".tran 1", no quotes, don't forget the dot, place it on the schematic - in the toolbar, press the 'running man' button, or right-click on the schematic and choose "run" - it should be almost instant, a new empty window will pop up, above - move the mouse cursor over the resistor until the cursor changes into a current-clamp (something black with a red arrow), then click once to display the current through the resistor - in the newly created window, there will be a trace displayed and a label at the top, reading I(R1) Alt+left-clicking on the label will highlight the resistor. There is no in-game way of changing this resolution either. I have found that I can change the games resolution by alt-tab out of the game and set the desired resolution in nvidia x server configuration tool and then alt-tab back into the game. I use Kubuntu (Kde) and this way of fixing the problem has been reported by another user not to work with his gnome desktop. We are both at version 7.10 of (K)Ubuntu. Scaleform is rendering a swf element on the screen OpenGl profiler shows that while scaleform is rendering a swf to the screen 65% of OpenGL is spent in MapBufferRange. As soon as the scaleform rendering is canceled performance returns to normal. This is easy to reproduce in Fallen Earth which uses scaleform to render the help UI. When that UI is open fps is 10-12 when that UI is closed fps is 20-30. Reverting that commit causes performance to remain constant when scaleform is rendering. I don't use the game myself!! It installs on Windows 7 OK. However a small batch file needs to be run to correct a bug in the most recent update. (All this 5-line script does is copy a file 'LC.exe_' over the existing 'LC.exe' - the main game executable). Please refer to this forum thread: http://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?t=10011 On Ubuntu 10.04+WINE 1.3.5 the game installs and runs an initial launcher. This updates itself. After update is complete - immediately on pressing the 'START' button a popup window appears: 'This program could not be run itself' (NB obviously I've worked around the installer bug...) He was using stable version 1.2 (also on Ubuntu). He reports he has previously had the game working under WINE (before a recent update). I ran the game using: $ wine LC.exe There is a whole lot repeated output but one line appears in the shell output: fixme:advapi:ParseStringSidToSid String constant not supported: L"(A" only when I press the 'START' button on the game launcher. This is immediately prior to the popup error window appearing. I have attached the rest of the shell output as a file. It is possible to type the post without problems. As far as I can tell, the problem occurs when doing something other than continuing to type, or pasting -- most recently, I attempted to hilight some text, and crash. By "crash", I mean the game (running in a 1024x768 desktop window) stops responding entirely, and the log seems to indicate that some process died. Note: Nexus works flawlessly with version 0.9.40 -- it has no bugs that Nexus itself doesn't when running under Windows, and, in fact, is often more stable than on Windows. I'll add regression tests and logs soon... The game is otherwise usable, as far as I can tell. For now, I will compose in a separate window, and paste into Nexus. Every version I have tried since 0.9.40 has had problems. I believe the game would not even run until 0.9.62, and this bug does happen in 1.0-rc1. There isn't anything to give a clue in the console output. The Slingplayer reports "There was a problem communicating with the Slingbox. Please try connecting again." Tried native qcap but it makes no difference. Wireshark shows that the Slingplayer and the Slingbox do exchange data before failing, but it is not clear what that data is. Slingplayer 1.5 can stream (but has problems with sound). This never happened before, but I went back to Wine 1.2.3 and the same problem occurs. Example: Holding shift and pressing the keys 1234567890 in gedit produces "!@#$%^&*()", but typing the same into Wine Notepad produces "12345678", showing that the shift key and curved brackets are not getting from VNC to Wine. Speculation: Keys should be sent VNC Client --> VNC Server --> Wine, but somewhere along the line the process is broken. But when keys are sent VNC Client --> VNC Server --> Generic GNOME App it works fine. Reproduction: The VNC Client is RealVNC on Windows XP SP3, and the VNC Server is x11vnc on Ubuntu 10.04 (previously tried Ubuntu's built in VNC server, same bug occured) (this may not matter, but try an Ubuntu -> Ubuntu VNC connection and see if the bug occurs). Example: $ wine explorer /desktop=My\ Program,800x600 myprogram.exe This correctly detects the size 800x600 for the virtual desktop, but it sets the title of the window to "My" and tries to run "Program" as the command line. I've submitted a patch to wine-patches that fixes this problem (and afaik, doesn't introduce any new ones), though I'm not sure if it's really "neat" enough. http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-patches/2009-March/070776.html So far, I've had no feedback about it. Additionally, the game music and sound effects are incredibly fast and 'crackly'. I mention both issues as it seems likely they have the same root cause. My CPU is an i5-750 at 2.67Ghz (presumably this problem may not occur on something much slower like an Atom). Workaround: Use cpulimit on the bigraceusademo.exe process. Turning on a noisy enough debug channel will also slow the process down enough that the sound problem will go away. To reproduce, just install the linked demo, run bigraceusademo.exe and observe the rapidly spinning menu items and corrupted audio output. $ sha1sum bigrace.zip fd5cbfc5da9dd29a010cb02a1f847a753a65c2b2 bigrace.zip The demo and full game both work perfectly in Win 7 x64 on the same hardware. I tested in wine 1.0.1, 1.2.3, 1.3.26 and some versions in between. The problem was less pronounced in 1.0.1 (likely due to worse overall performance). I need this particular sequence of events to work in order for a patch I have for cmd.exe to support CON input 'nicely' (read 'without hacks'). For simplicity sake I've cut this down to a tiny test program, which works on windows and fails on wine which does the following: Opens the device ("\\.\CON") with CreateFile with GENERIC_READ rights (which internally opens a CONIN$ device with the same access rights) Reads from the device with ReadFile - Because its a console device, this drops through to ReadConsoleW, which creates a CONOUT$ and then waits on a keystroke - Once the key is pressed (WCEL_Get) the key is 'inserted' into the input buffer by calling WriteConsoleInputW The issue is that WriteConsoleInputW requires GENERIC_WRITE access, but the CON device (\\.\CON) was opened as GENERIC_READ (and in fact fails if I try to open it with GENERIC_WRITE). CreateFile("CONIN$"...) will let me open in GENERIC_READ/GENERIC_WRITE mode and the program works on both windows and wine, but if you open CONIN$ GENERIC_READ only then it fails on wine and works on windows, with the same issue. Now on windows, this works... the question is how to make it work on wine... My gut feeling, with nothing backing this at all, is that WCEL_Get should not use WriteConsoleInputW to inject the values into the input buffer, instead making the server call directly, but passing through to the server call something to indicate that it is ok to add the data to the buffer, but I'm fast getting out of my depth! How to reproduce: Compile sample source (exe provided in zip)... Run as: "test 1" - this is the one I need to work... \\.\CON GENERIC_READ case "test 2" - this is a similar problem but opens CONIN$ GENERIC_READ "test 3" - this works on both windows and wine, opening CONIN$ GENERIC_READ|GENERIC_WRITE "test 4" - this fails on both windows and wine as you cannot open CON device with WRITE access Except for case 4, When its 'failing' - when you press a key in wine, it exits. In other words, during FPS gameplay, the cursor sits right where the crosshairs should be and does not disappear. Needless to say this is quite distracting. This cursor bug seems to appear randomly, but always after browsing an intelligence report or upgrading weapons. The only way to get rid of the cursor is to restart the game. This breaks setups where several users share a common wine prefix (e.g. to make applications that make heavy use of the registry available to several users without installing them several times) and they have the right access to the configs through group permissions. Unless I'm overlooking a better way to do this, it would make more sense to check proper permissions than to check ownership. Logging in to Gamespy requires an email address but the period '.' sign used in the address was not accepted in the input field. It turned out that several other keys are not recognized by the game, e.g.: ~,[]/;'\=-+. By default '~' is used to bring up the chat window. The issue can be tested by creating a new profile in the game: the input field, containing the name, should accept all of the above mentioned characters but they're not recognized (only the letters and numbers work and some of the special characters by using <Shift>: @!$%). Installing native dinput8.dll (via winetricks) doesn't help in Majesty 2. I was wondering if it would be possible to either add the screen reader NVDA in to a default installation of Wine, or make it so that NVDA can be installed in to Wine. NVDA would give blind Linux users access to applications in Wine. It does not use video hooks, so it is probably the best choice for a Wine screen reader. It is open source and can be found at: http://www.nvda-project.org/ The installer talks, so if it could be made to work, installing it with out sighted assistance would be no problem. During installation, the Nota Bene Demo reports that AUTOEXE.NT and CONFIG.NT have been removed from the system, and won't continue unless you allow it to restore them. If you agree, the installation starts. However, when the installation bar reaches 100%, the installer crashes. The files appear to have been installed. But on running nblaunch.exe, the program crashes immediately. The app in question is built with the manifest http://source.winehq.org/source/dlls/msvcr90/tests/msvcr90.manifest which contains the line processorArchitecture="*" Tracing through the code, lookup_manifest_file in ntdll/actctx.c seems to incorrectly parse the native DLL's manifest as having build 0 rather than 30729. (This came up while I was trying to write tests for vcomp.dll.
