I have wine 1.3.24-0, Microsoft Office 2003 and Ubuntu 10.04.
Printer - HP 1320n, driver - HPLIP.
In Word and Excel I have an issue with printing any documents - all included

get pages with all text, but with blank areas on the place of this images.
Images, drawn in Word/Excel drawing tools prints fine, all other images (in
GIMP or native linux OpenOffice) prints fine. Problem exists only in MS Office
via Wine.
Tried:
- Reinstall MS Office
- Reinstall Wine
- Remove .wine directory and reinstall MS Office
- Update Wine to the latest version (from ppa)
And.. nothing changes.
What I can try now? This is bug I think.

winedbg backtrace
This was tested with the GOG.com version of the game, no demo version has been
released.
The game comes with the following native dlls placed in the game directory:
msvcp100, msvcp100d, msvcr100, msvcr100d. The problem doesn't occur when using
native msvcr100.dll.
If I use Wine's built-in msvcr100 the game freezes when I start a new game from
the menu. The screen is not refreshing but menu music is still playing. The
'Dracula4.exe' process and wineserver consume only 1-2% CPU all the time. At
this point in-game videos should be played. The same freezing occurs if I
choose <Prologue> from the main menu.
Now comes the tricky part that makes debugging complicated (at least for me):
-if I run the game under winedbg (wine winedbg Dracula4.exe), then starting a
new game is working, the videos are playing, but the game crashes as soon as
the last video ends.
- the same scenario happens if I start the game normally, but redirect the
output to a file: 'wine Dracula4.exe >dracula.log 2>&1). Just like when running
under winedbg, the game gets past the videos and crashes when the videos end.
- if I start the game with debug channels enabled, e.g. 'WINEDEBUG=+msvcrt,+tid
wine Dracula4.exe >>msvcrt.log 2>&1', then the game doesn't crash at all, it
plays the videos and the game continues normally after the videos.
- if I start the game normally, let it freeze and attach winedbg to the already
hung Dracula4.exe process, then I receive a backtrace as can be seen in the
attached log file.
Plain terminal output doesn't show anything interesting except for a

A few notes:
- Running the games with X11 and ddr=opengl in a windowed virtual desktop at

- Unable to run the game windowed with winemac driver. It always forces it to

Log running FCC 11.017
Trying to get latest FirstClass client (FCC) to work in Wine 1.3.33/34
(ubuntu-wine-ppa-oneiric) with the following problems in Ubuntu 11.10 with
Unity. The same behavior in Ubuntu 10.04 LTS with Wine 1.3.31
(ubuntu-wine-ppa-lucid).
FirstClass can't find the settings file "home.fc" - this works fine in older
versions of FCC. A file popup appears called "Open Settings File" to choose the
settings file, but there isn't one. If you right click on the panel icon and
look at your FCC Preferences under "General" the "Download folder" is set to
"C:\users\yourlogin\My Documents\FirstClass\Download". Even if you set this
right the settings file cannot be found next time you run FCC and you have to
choose your settings file every time you want to login. You cannot connect if
you don't have a old settings file - I think normaly the file is created by FCC
if there isn't one. So you can't login on a fresh installed comuputer without a
settings file. Even if you put the file home.fc it doesn't show so you have to
write "home.fc" and hit Open in the "Open Settings File" window.

in the background while the activities are taken place.
On exiting an activity, the main window should redraw its layout, but fails to

There is no console data to suggest why.
The application does not appear to have crashed, as it can be closed by
clicking on the X as normal, but it is not unusable and has to be loaded again

I could upload a full +relay but it may miss the point (as an activity has to
be opened and closed to recreate the problem). Would any other logs be more

+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #13429 +++
It was not possible to open attachments to an email in Wine 0.9.x versions; in
the Wine 1.0 RC-versions 1 and 2 this remains impossible.
Under Windows XP (SP1 and SP2) it was possible to click on an attachment in an
email, and it would be opened with the proper application. In Ubuntu (7.04,
7.10 and 8.04) under Wine (0.8.x, 0.9.x and 1.0 RC1/2) clicking on the link to
an attachment in an email message results in no activity. No error message
either. Just nothing happens.

Summary: 4nec2x: error message and crash when opening 3d window
for second time
Product: Wine
Version: 1.3.23
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: directx-d3d
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: dank(a)kegel.com
In http://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?t=12714 a user reported
that on the free app 4nec2x from http://home.ict.nl/~arivoors,
"If I open the 3d window (by pushing F9), the performance is as is to be
expected unless you close the 3d window before closing the rest of the session.
You get the following error:
ResizeWindowed--DX-error -2147467259:E_FAIL and a stop statement afterwards in
a separate window. ...
This does not occur if running Windoz 7 or XP Pro. It has done it for all
versions of Wine up to my now 1.3.23. It has done it on Mint 10, Mint 11,
OpenSuse 11.3, Ubuntu 10.04, and Ubuntu 11.04. My NVidia drivers are latest and
greatest."
I verified the app worked properly in win7, and reproduced the problem
in ubuntu 11.04 / wine-1.3.23 / GeForce GT 220 / 270.41.06
by starting the app, pressing f9, closing the 3d window, and pressing f9
again. The log shows
fixme:d3d:wined3d_device_reset Cannot change the device window yet.
err:d3d:context_create Failed to retrieve a device context.
If you click through the app's error dialog, you get a wine crash:

After upgrading the X.Org server from version 1.14.5 to version 1.15.0 I'm
noticing that minimizing games (Inocify from Openbox) does technically but not
visually minimize the game. This means after minimizing the game I'm still
seeing it running on the desktop but the mouse cursor changes to the desktop
one and also I'm able to recover the game if I'm clicking at the correct
position on the panel (which is still overlayed by the game). This happens even
on the current git of Wine with a clean profile. Also it happens on all games
that I have tested (Diablo 3, Guild Wars 1, Guild Wars 2, Warcraft 3).
The rest of my environment:
Operating system: Linux 3.13.1
Graphics card: GeForce GTX 650

The reason it crashes right now is that IRecordInfo_RecordClear() gets some
invalid pointers when it tries to free BSTRs (values like 0x141 for example),
need to figure out where these come from.

AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: silas-wine(a)flatline.org.uk
As far as I know, no version of Wine has any method of increasing the size of
the mouse pointers.
If you've artificially increased the DPI (LogPixels registry key) to make the
print larger, and/or you are using a high-resolution screen (e.g. the OLPC's
200dpi screen), it can be difficult to see where the mouse is.
It would be nice if the mouse pointer increased size in proportion to
everything else. Failing that, it would be nice if at least there were some
other way of increasing the cursor size (even if it's limited to integer scale
factors).

A example of resized virtual desktop
In latest versions of Wine (or at least 1.1.5 and after), the window containing
virtual desktop is no longer fixed-size. It's possible to maximize it and to
fullscreen it. (This is related to the bug 10839.)
But :
- The virtual desktop always displays in the top left corner of the window
containing it, it would be better if it always displays in the center of the
window ;
- Wine should display a black background in the entire window to avoid a
disgraceful display bug when you fullscreen the window containing the virtual
desktop.

My program (it's very specific program, PCAD2002), pcb.exe, tries to start some
another programs one-by-one, waiting for finishing of each and get
return-codes. This happens normally in native Windows.
(these sub-apps is accel2sp.exe; specctra.exe; sp2accel.exe).
But under Wine, my pcb.exe can not wait for end of execution each program, and
statrs all three in one moment, and all work incorrectly because file generated
by first program, used in second, etc.
I try to use .bat file. Prorgams listed in .bat file, executes one-by-one. But,
main program, pcb.exe, when calls my .bat file, again can't wait for end of it
execution (and get return code).
Each program, at manual (standalone) running, is works fine. Wine not crashes
in any case.
I have Ubuntu 8.04, Wine 1.0 installed from repo's, no any tuning, no windows
DLLs, etc. Please help.

After successfully installing wine 1.6.1 from the Mageia 4 RC repository to an
Asus netbook and installing a Windows program from a 1996 cover CD, I decided
that I needed a larger drive an more RAM.
When both were installed and the system re-installed from the same DVD, I again
installed wine 1.6.1 (including qtwine version 1.0 and again attempted to
install the same program.
It failed with two results, an error window displaying:
"The program winevdm.exe encountered a serious problem and needs to close.
We are sorry for the inconvenience."
but more surprisingly, the browser came up with this url.
http://q4wine.brezblock.org.ua/documentation/q4wine_en_gb/05-first-steps.ht…
This is a political message. Does this mean wine is now held hostage?
I was able to reproduce this effect a second time.

Hello all,
I use ubuntu 11.10 with wine 1.2.3, I tried upgrading to wine 1.3.24 (latest
working wine with no sound problem on ubuntu 11.10), and I still get this same
crash. I ran starcraft 2 on the terminal and here's the last lines I get when
the crash occurs. Hope they can give a hint at the possible problem. Note that
when the crash occurs I'm left at the windows crash report screen and I click
cancel to close it. Maybe providing that info may be useful as well?

Microsoft Office Tools is a directory which is installed in Programs\Microsoft
Office\ menu.
In polish version of MS Office 2007 Home and Student Box with service packs
this directory is duplicated - I mean it is installed in English version (as
Microsoft Office Tools) and in polish version. The launchers are linked to the
same executables, and, apart from comments, are exactly the same.
The problem exists since I first installed MS Office 2007 under wine/since I
remember.
Im unsure if the menus don't come from Service Pack installers - will check
"clean SP0 install" later. It might be also a MS Office bug.

Summary: Starcraft 2: Fails to render some 2D images.
Product: Wine

Disable S3TC
This bug probably only effects a small amount of Ati graphics cards (or just
me) and the bug is probably driver related. Nonetheless I've decided to report
the bug here in case there's anyone else having similar problems as I've
experienced.
I was having problems getting Starcraft 2 to render correctly. Pure 3D details
was rendered correctly while some of the 2D elements where broken. Some of the
elements broken was buttons for controlling units and buttons for unit/building
production. Screenshots will follow in an attachment. Broken in this context
means that the images wasn't rendered correctly.
I searched the internet for a solution for the last few days without any luck.
Today I was using the open source graphic driver and noticed that it was able
to render 2D images correctly. That’s when I realised it must have been using a
different code path. With this new-found knowledge I realised that one of the
differences was the implementation of S3TC. A patent encumbered function which
compresses textures and which the open source version normally lacks. Firing up
google I soon found a fix to disable S3TC in wine. With S3TC disabled I no
longer experience any broken 2D images.
I'm using an Ati radeon 2000 series graphics card.
I'm stuck at fglrx 10.4 because of various driver bugs.
To enable the fix you need to build wine yourself. The patch itself just
changes one line and fools wine into thinking that S3TC isn’t supported by the
driver.
A real patch which would have 'fixed' this bug would have been by adding a
command line switch or a registry tweak which disabled S3TC. Implementing such
a patch is unfortunately beyond my wine knowledge.

I'm attaching three screenshots that illustrates this bug.
On first - only in in-game videos, when some character specking from 'video
communication' window (when 3d portraits enabled in games settings, of course),
it's enlarged and upside-downed portrait is shown in upper-left corner.
On second and third - In same upper-left corner we may see some parts of
dynamic surrounding's textures. This bugimage changes or dissapears as we move
camera over landscape. Mission on "Red Stone" is most affected - there is
almost no camera positions, where this bug isn't visible.
There is no such bug on orm=pbuffer or orm=backbuffer.

I followed the HOWTO

sources from the git repository (commit
5d4a7433a64dae95713fecb8a3d6c4f2a471ca37).
I installed the game, and it seems to be running perfectly : menus are well
displayed, sound works. But when playing a game, I can only see the minimap and
the menus (see the attachment), which makes the game impossible to play.
My configuration :
Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 @ 2.26Ghz
3GB of RAM
Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller
(driver : i915).
Though it's definitely not the best computer to play Starcraft II, the game
runs fine on Windows 7.

I managed to install the SP3 version from a streamlined install (Vanilla Visio
+ integrated SP3)
Overall it runs stable and responsive.
I had to use gdi+ from winetricks to get rid of the drawing errors.
The problem it has is that some dialogues show GUI elements on incorrect
locations, or have the wrong size and overlap with one another.
This is particularly evident when you select some text, right
click->format->text
And it is also visible when you go to the main menu->tools->options.

As the summary says. salvage beams are rendered incorrectly: white garbled
textures instead of red light, and warp looks pixelated (i'm assuming these two
are caused by the same thing).
I'm using wine 1.1.19 patched with
http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=20410, I have Nvidia 7600 GT (it
wouldn't render any models before applying those fixes). I'm runing 64bit
Archlinux, I'm using wine through 32 chrooted environment. In both the chrooted
environment and in the 64bit environment I'm using the same version of the
driver, the bug exhibits both on 185.19-2 (my current) and 180.44-1.
I've also talked in the ingame linux channel, and it seemed that someone else
is having the same problem (altough he has the same graphics card), reportedly
it started happening from the newest patch (I wouldn't know as I wasn't playing
the game).
I've tried nearly all sorts of eve options : shadows off/on, HDR off/on, Bloom
off/on, Dither off/on. The resulting images were taken with all of it off.

My error log: The error log also includes switches done when changing options,
not just the errors that happened while playing. Since the log is _huge_ (some
