The initial version didn't have GG so unless OP can provide the exact client version from 8 years ago this bug is moot. Running the game in virtual desktop mode allows you to get in-game (tested versions: 1.6.2, 1.7.19). In 1.6, game is responsive but unplayable due to speed.
