when I try to build a CD I get the Wine Error popup saying that "The program

this error running in cli and double clicking on the exe. Now before I get the
pop I notice the application gets an error when opening up a hive while
building the registry. This happens so fast I can not see the full error in the
application before it crashes and the popup is produced. Went back and ran
under cli wine UBCD4WinBuilder.exe WINEDEBUG=warn+all &> log.txt and I am

scheme: http://slush.warosu.org/c++filtjs/
??0id@locale@std@@QAA@I@Z -> public: __cdecl std::locale::id::id(unsigned int)
>From C++ standard documentation:
--- quote ---
The id class provides facets with an index used to identify them. Every facet
class must define a public static member locale::id, or be derived from a facet
that provides this member, otherwise the facet cannot be used in a locale. The
locale::id ensures that each class type gets a unique identifier.
--- quote ---
I'm a bit curious why Microsoft's std::locale::id class has an explicit
constructor with init? value.
The id needs to be unique for each kind of facet.
Nathan C. Myers article about standard C++ locale implementation at
http://www.cantrip.org/locale.html states that constructor based initialization
for std::locale::id is not advised:
--- quote ---
Recall that each facet type contains a static member of type locale::id. Thus,
there is one static instance per facet type. The default constructor id()
(carefully) does not initialize the member index_. Because "static
constructors" are called at times that are (for most practical purposes)
random, they may be called after the value has already been used, so it is
essential that initialization not depend on a constructor. The members of each
static instance are reliably set to zero by the program loader, and remain zero
until they are set to something else.
...
The [locale template] constructor begins by copying the implementation vector
from other, which increments all the facet reference counts. Then it sets
Facet::id.index_ to assign the facet an identity if it has none yet, and (if
necessary) grows the new vector to fit. Finally, it installs the new facet,
being careful to keep the reference counts right. Thus, the id::index_ member
is zero until it is actually used, and it is considered used only when a locale
object exists which contains the facet that owns it.
--- quote ---
So it seems Microsoft moves in mysterious ways as always ;-)

I tried to use two softwares which make use of bcdedit.exe. Those are:
EasyBCD - http://neosmart.net/dl.php?id=1 (free non-commercial version)
Sardu - http://www.sarducd.it/
Both of them use bcdedit.exe in order to open bcd files, such as those present
on Windows Recovery discs. In both cases I get the same error message, which
should be this:
"Privilege not held"
(my system is in Italian so I'm not sure about the exact words)
Of course Wine doesn't have a BCD file, but EasyBCD asks me if I want to open
one and when I point it to the location I get the error.

Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal

Classification: Unclassified
Simply run Magical Jelly Bean keyfinder in Wine 1.3.35 (or any version before
that, I'm pretty sure), and try to load a hive (A hive is a binary file that
Windows uses to store registry keys, as opposed to a text file such as a *.reg
file containing registry keys in ASCII text.). It won't work. This is using
Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder version 2.0.8.
Click on tools, and then go to "Load Hive..." An error message pops up saying
"Can't load registry hive from: ...
Path not found"
No terminal output.
The goal is to get Keyfinder to load /WINDOWS/System32/config/SOFTWARE.
Note: when you tell it to load a hive, it automatically appends
system32\config\software to the path you give. So if you tell it to load
~\windows\system32\config, it will look for
~\windows\system32\config\system32\config\software (which doesn't exist, or at
least shouldn't).
I have tried copying the config folder to the desktop and renaming everything
in the path to be all lowercase (the error message prints the path in all
lowercase, so I thought that might help it.), doesn't help.
Cheers,
Jake

--- snip ---
$ wine ./miranda32.exe
err:module:import_dll Library MSVCR110.dll (which is needed by
L"Z:\\home\\linaro\\wine-apps\\miranda\\zlib.dll") not found
err:module:import_dll Library zlib.dll (which is needed by
L"Z:\\home\\linaro\\wine-apps\\miranda\\miranda32.exe") not found
--- snip ---
There is a forum at xda-developers dedicated to porting/recompiling various
open-source projects to WinRT, especially:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2092348
(Windows 8 Development and Hacking > Windows 8 Development and Hacking >
Desktop apps ported to Windows RT)
Some ports already run nicely with workarounds from already known wine-arm bugs
(notepad++) but others require WinRT libs (combase.dll etc.).

An attempt to start the SmartFTP client fails because of missing cryptui.dll.
While copying the DLL from an installation of Windows XP satisfies the
application enough to get it to run, cryptui.dll is as far as I'm aware not
redistributable and thus using native cryptui.dll is not always tenable.

Summary: µTorrent (uTorrent) fails listening to a port after a
number of persistent connections are opened against it
Product: Wine
Version: 1.3.13
Platform: All
URL: http://www.utorrent.com/
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wineserver
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: t.artem(a)mailcity.com
Steps to reproduce:
1) Run µTorrent
2) Incoming connections icon should turn green (port listen: OK), netstat -ln
confirms that
3) Start downloading any torrent
4) Incoming connections icon will turn red (Listen error: you should change the
listen port)
observe these errors logged in uTorrent Logger Tab:
[2011-02-09 02:28:50] *** Starting Diagnostic thread ***
[2011-02-09 02:28:50] IPv6 is installed
[2011-02-09 02:31:46] TCP port bind failed 0.0.0.0:9001: (10048) Error 10048
[2011-02-09 02:32:12] TCP port bind failed 0.0.0.0:9001: (10048) Error 10048
at this point neither Wine, nor µTorrent will be listening to the designated
port:
# netstat -ln -eep | grep 8008
udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:8008 0.0.0.0:*
500 117033 10470/uTorrent.exe
so while uTorrent is listening to the incoming UDP connections, TCP traffic is
unmanaged causing the errors in the µTorrent's Logger Tab.
The strangest thing is that no other application will be able to use this port
(8008):
# nc -vl 8008
nc: Address already in use
However if I order nc to bind to the loopback interface specifically, it will
run:
# nc -vl localhost 8008
[running]
It's worth noting that when wine/uTorrent "listen" abilities break, there are
already some established connections to my_external_IP_address:8008 (right now
I see three such ESTABLISHED connections).
So, probably there's some sort of bug in wine server - it shouldn't stop
listening to a port when persistent connections are made to it - but I'm
totally uncertain about it because I have no idea how wine server (should)
handles TCP traffic.
I can help solving this bug by attaching any required debug information if it's
necessary.

After installing normally, start Acrobat. Give the application some time to
display any notices about pending updates, etc., and clear them. There is no
need to load a file; this bug pertains to the preferences for the application
itself, not a PDF that's been loaded.
By going to the Edit menu and selecting the "Preferences..." option (or via the
shortcut CTRL + K) it's possible to bring up the Preferences window, but only
the "Categories" listbox control and text label are displayed (on the left-hand
side of the Preferences window), along with OK and Cancel buttons. The
right-hand side of the window, which should display a variety of controls that
change for each category the user selects, is completely blank and displays
only as the window's background color.
I am testing with a stock, plain Debian and Wine installation. No tricks or
borrowed DLLs involved.

The "lp" values in the "unknown msg" error (2nd-last and 3rd-last lines above)

I tried hard to gather more information about this bug with the command
"WINEDEBUG=+relay wine ./Acrobat.exe" but the only way I had to catch the
information was via the console's history, and that nearly brought my system to
its knees after it accumulated more than 170MB worth of data. Most of that
data was the result of KERNEL32.GetLastError, .FlsGetValue, and .SetLastError
messages repeatedly incessantly. If someone can tell me how I can prevent
those messages from appearing that would drop the size of the output.
One more thing to note: I tested for the same bug with Acrobat Reader V7.0.9
-- which is available for free from adobe.com -- and I see the exact same bug,
with the exact same console output. That may be useful to know if anyone is
interested in confirming this bug.

Hello,
a minor nuisance that can be easily fixed...
I had to add notes to .NET Framework appdb entries because people wrote about
messages which looked like install errors to them.
--- snip ---
wine: could not load L"C:\\windows\\system32\\lodctr.exe": Module not found
--- snip ---
Such failures are in fact harmless, not relevant to overall installer status.
"lodctr.exe" is a simple command line executable for loading performance data
into registry.
It is often called from .NET Framework v1.x, 2.x, 3.x installers.
MSDN info:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb490926.aspxhttp://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa934371.aspx
--- quote ---
The loading function of lodctr, LoadPerfCounterTextStrings, is declared in
Loadperf.h and exported from Loadperf.dll. You can call this function directly
from your install program.
The following example shows the syntax for this function.
LONG LoadPerfCounterTextStrings(
LPSTR lpCommandLine,
BOOL bQuietModeArg
);
The lpCommandLine parameter is the name of your .ini file.
The bQuietModeArg parameter is a Boolean value that specifies whether to
display output during the loading of the text strings for the counter.
--- quote ---
MSDN note suggests that this command line tool is only a thin wrapper which
simply calls LoadPerfCounterTextStrings() as workhorse, passing/forwarding the
command line as-is.
It should be easy to add this tool - even with LoadPerfCounterTextStringsA/W
being stubs - to silence installers which try to spawn it.

triggers a code path in WS_setsockopt() which leads to crash.
The cause is an application bug.
EvenBalance PunkBuster "PnkBstrA" service which creates local communication
sockets accidentally passes the value instead of value address to
WS_setsockopt().
The services can be installed and tested with their "pbsvc.exe" tool from
http://www.evenbalance.com/downloads/pbsvc/pbsvc.exe

--- snip ---
Instead of this:
--- snip ---
if (setsockopt( sock, .., ..., (char*)&value, value_len) != SOCKET_ERROR)
--- snip ---
Micro$oft "fixes" such crappy^H^H^H^H^H^Hbuggy applications by using SEH to
catch invalid pointer dereferencing.
If you execute a hand-crafted WS_setsockopt() test case with invalid pointer
value in Windows you will see something like this:
--- snip ---
First-chance exception at 0x719b5280 (mswsock.dll) in test.exe: 0xC0000005:
Access violation reading location 0x00000001.
--- snip ---
Returned last error is WSAEFAULT (bad pointer value/address supplied).
Solution: either wrap the whole function within structured exception handler
(SEH) or use IsBadReadPtr() on passed pointer and return WSAEFAULT if fishy.

(Why isn't it doing CreateService? Perhaps it's probing

Summary: service control manager API problem: name of named

patch which fixes client vs. service SCM API when using named objects
Hello,
there seems to be a misconception in usage of names for named objects in
service control manager API.
Some people might have experienced such situation: wine hangs for several
seconds on startup (when starting services).
I usually disabled autostart type services (except for builtin ones) and the
problems went away.
Lately while fixing Microsoft Visual Studio .NET installers (2002/2003/2005)
this problem became more and more annoying because the installers and VS.NET
depend on some services, namely "debug manager" (service has to be running).
Consider the following snippet with "service_get_event_handle" trace message
added by me to highlight the problem:

--- snip trace ---
When a service is started, named objects are created to internally communicate
data/events from the service process (dispatcher) to client side SCM API and
vice versa.
Unfortunately there exist service proccesses which pass service names to
dispatcher table (StartServiceCtrlDispatcher) not matching the service name on
the client side (registry "Services" key).
--- snip dlls/advapi32/service.c ---
static DWORD WINAPI service_control_dispatcher(LPVOID arg)
{
service_data *service = arg;
LPWSTR name;
HANDLE pipe, event;
TRACE("%p %s\n", service, debugstr_w(service->name));
/* create a pipe to talk to the rest of the world with */
name = service_get_pipe_name(service->name); <--------- *problem*!
pipe = CreateNamedPipeW(name, PIPE_ACCESS_DUPLEX,
PIPE_TYPE_BYTE|PIPE_WAIT, 1, 256, 256, 10000, NULL );
if (pipe==INVALID_HANDLE_VALUE)
ERR("failed to create pipe for %s, error = %d\n",
debugstr_w(service->name), GetLastError());
HeapFree(GetProcessHeap(), 0, name);
/* let the process who started us know we've tried to create a pipe */
event = service_get_event_handle(service->name); <--------- *problem*!
SetEvent(event);
CloseHandle(event);
..
--- snip dlls/advapi32/service.c ---
As result, different named objects are created and signaled so the client side
can't communicate with the service side using named pipe and events.
This leads to infamous timeout problem (30 sec) and service startup failing.
In case of Microsoft Debug Manager the service is called "mdm" (registry).
The service process itself passes "Microsoft Debug Manager" as name to dispatch
table (see first trace).
Problem: how can both sides communicate a "common" name for named objects?
The service dispatcher part on the service side has only dispatch table data
available which doesn't help much.
I thought about this problem and found a feasible solution ... well call it
"hack" whatever.
If the client side API passes the service name in one of the process startup
parameter members before process creation, the service process' dispatcher
routine is able to access this data and create the named objects used for
communication.
I (ab)used startupinfo "title" member because only wine itself make exclusive
use of most service process startup parameters.
If not considered safe, use reserved/undoc fields...
With that patch applied the services in question start fine and can be
controlled using "net" commands.
No more hangs ;-)

James, if you find the time, please add "stop services" msi action

Although I have a patch, I constantly forget to apply it when tracking down

Then a pop-up appears with the message:

Upon clicking "Yes"/"No", the program exits. I think this has to do something
with copyright. Not sure about this though.

Add HideThreadFromDebugger to winternl.h and to NtSetInformationThread
This API exists in the windows NtSetInformationThread for some reason.
The sensible thing to do in wine here seems to be to just ignore this call.
Patch attached is against 0.9.60.

Created attachment 44167

Patch to reproduce this bug
The attached patch reproduces an issue first encountered 'in the wild' with
this set of patches:
* [1/3] include: Add COM interface definitions needed for PrintDlgEx
implementation.
http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-patches/2013-April/123420.html
* [3/3] comdlg32: Add an interactive PrintDlgEx test.
http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-patches/2013-April/123422.html
* Re: [3/3] comdlg32: Add an interactive PrintDlgEx test.
http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-devel/2013-April/099397.html
Here is the core of the issue:
* The patch contains a first chunk that modifies include/commdlg.h.
* This causes a new symbol to be exported by libuuid.a.
* The comdlg32:printdlg test needs that symbol to be relinked.
The problem is that the WineTestBot does not do a full recompile (for
performance reasons), and thus libuuid.a is not rebuilt. So the comdlg32 relink
fails because of the missing symbol.
Unfortunately there's really no clear indication in the patch that libuuid.a
needs to be rebuilt. We could very well run into the same issue with dxguid or
a number of other dlls.
Some options:
* Systematically do a full rebuild. This would be pretty wasteful.
* Do a full rebuild whenever the patch touches 'include/'.
* Hardcode a list of uuid-like dlls and rebuild them all whenever a patch
touches 'include/'.
* Detect which uuid-like dlls the test links with (by parsing the Makefile?),
and rebuild those whenever the patch touches 'include/'.
It's also possible that any chunk outside of the test directory could get us
into trouble if we link with the corresponding dll.

Summary: Cyberlink Powerdirector 8 crashes during media scan

Hello folks,
Prerequisite: 'winetricks -q mfc42'
Upon startup the app shows a registration dialog with some options:
* "Buy Now"
* "Activate"
* "Try Now"
After selecting "Try Now" the app continues loading and starts importing some
media files.
"Activation" feature also works (tested with some code found here and there).
There is a crash (heap corruption) in libxml2/msxml during media import.
This is a different problem which can be worked around with 'winetricks -q
msxml3'.
This bug is about the COM/OLE part of media import crash.

The problem most likely stems from crappy vendor code. The thread in question
that ought to instantiate the COM object never explicitly initializes its COM
apartment.
>From my experience in 99% of the cases the developers forgot the call to
CoInitializeEx() on thread entry and the reason why this works for native is
the so called implicit MTA.
Basically another thread in the process called CoInitializeEx(0,
COINIT_MULTITHREADED), which means that the thread which forgot to call
CoInitializeEx() was implicitly placed in the MTA (the app creates a crapload
of threads).
I had to change quite some code to make a proof-of-concept.
There is various code in Wine ole32 that makes use of COM_CurrentApt() which
doesn't take implicit MTA into account.
--- snip ---
# modified: dlls/ole32/compobj.c
# modified: dlls/ole32/marshal.c
# modified: dlls/ole32/rpc.c
--- snip ---
The app/thread was finally able to instantiate the out-of-process COM server
and make COM calls.
Media files were successfully imported and movies/images showed up in some
thumbnail-like view.

Summary: fix for "called from wrong apartment" bug in
ClientRpcChannelBuffer_SendReceive
Product: Wine
Version: 1.6-rc1
Platform: x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: ole32
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: rosen.diankov(a)gmail.com
Classification: Unclassified
There are cases where the "called from wrong apartment" gets called in
ole32/rpc.c:ClientRpcChannelBuffer_SendReceive and there is no COM apartment
set.
Actually the thread should be using the implicit multithreaded apartment
created from a previous thread's CoInitializeEx call
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/oldnewthing/archive/2013/04/19/10412399.aspx
Therefore the fix is really simple, add this check right in the beginning of
ClientRpcChannelBuffer_SendReceive
if( !COM_CurrentApt() ) {
apartment_joinmta();
}
Note that in Windows 7 and beyond, there's a new flag that controls the
implicit MTA behavior called APTTYPEQUALIFIER.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/dd542638
Wine should support this for Windows 7 and beyond.

Ihulan (www.oniton.com) is a Hebrew greetings apps, there's also an English
version called U.R.Celeb (http://urceleb.oniton.com/).
The Hebrew installation (http://www.oniton.com/uploads/secure/Ihulan453.exe)
has several issues:
1. The text is Gibberish.
2. On the terms of service (2nd page) the text is in Hebrew but selectingthe
mixes its order, also the header (in read) are split in the middle by LRM for
some reason...
3. The window is not RTL although I'm not sure it should be...
This also demonstrates some of the typical problems with Hebrew.

The protection scheme fiddles with %gs selector value which breaks TLS pointer
access through %gs:0 (Wine uses %fs) or the stack protector scheme that
Userland libs and Wine are built with (glibc provided __stack_chk_guard at
%gs:0x14).
My gcc 4.6.1 x86 host toolchain has -fstack-protector enabled by default hence
Wine gets the stack canary code in the binaries.
The Glibc here (Xubuntu 11.10) has stack smashing protection enabled by
default.
Even if Wine is built with "-fno-stack-protector" the app would still break
glibc %gs TLS code.
This is just a "collector" bug for apps that run into this issue.
WONTFIX obviously, there is no reliable way to know when to repair/restore %gs
value (and restarting faulting instruction).

Builtin/native gdiplus comparison screenshots
In CDBurnerXP, the audio player dialog does not display the elapsed playback
time, and the outer edges of the pseudo-LED showing the current track are also
missing. Both can be seen with native gdiplus. To reproduce the problem:
1. Use winetricks dotnet20 before installing
2. From the main menu, choose "audio disc"
3. Observe the appearance of the audio player above the upper-right corner of
the program window

demo illustrating the problem
if CoFreeUnusedLibraries is called by COM server, it will break RPC channcel
and lead to the errors
Attached is client/server code that demonstrates the problem.
If you comment out CoFreeUnusedLibraries call, it will start to work.
Steps:
-comple all 3 projects in the Workspace (Debug target is the only appropriate
for the sake of demo)
-make sure server and proxy are registered by running testserver.exe
-RegServer, regsvr32 testserverPS.dll
-run testproject.exe (the client)
Expected behaviour:
1. it will show server's message "CServer is created", click ok
2. it will show client's message "press OK when ready", click ok
3. it will show server's message passed by the client "Hello world!", click ok
4. it will show client's message "call succeeded" and client will exit
5. after roughly 6sec it will show that the server is unloaded/
Actual behaviour:
1. it will show server's message "CServer is created", click ok
2. it will show client's message "press OK when ready", click ok
3. it will show server's message passed by the client "Hello world!", click ok
4. it will dump out trouble in the console and show client's message "call
failed"
You may call CoFreeUnusedLibraries anywhere in the appartment and it will break
RPC on the server side. In some cases it will crash whole the server, like in
the demo.
Tested environment:
Fedora Core 8, 32bit, x86, wine 1.0 installed through the updates

Hello folks,
as the summary says.
The installer prerequisite log "dd_depcheck_VC_EXP_100.txt" is pretty verbose,
no need for Wine trace log:
--- snip ---
...
[12/08/13,20:06:38] Windows XP x64 Service Pack 2 is required ==
[12/08/13,20:06:38] This component uses the FileRegVerCheck version check
method. It will compare a given version against the version of a regkey on your
machine.
[12/08/13,20:06:38] Registry key being interrogated:
HKLM,System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Windows; Value: CSDVersion; Version: 512.
[12/08/13,20:06:38] Version on user's machine: 256

[12/08/13,20:06:38] Windows XP x64 Service Pack 2 is required == Component to
be installed.
--- snip ---
Setting CSDVersion to 512 in 64-bit prefix allows the installer go further.
Wine uses "Service Pack 3" for 32-bit "Windows XP" setting (=latest).
There is no SP3 for the 64-bit version of Windows XP. XP2 is indeed the latest.
For consistency it would make sense that Wine uses SP2 for 64-bit XP,
indicating highest SP level.

ARM info center CP15 c13 register summary:

Another resource:

Opcode_2=3 register "TPIDRURO" is actually ARM HW TLS register, used by libc
(__get_tls()).
Opcode_2=2 register "TPIDRURW" is "Software Thread ID, User, R/W"
Not sure if this is a "free for use" register or if any user space threading
library code actually manages this register.
One would have to search eglibc sources for ARM and any userspace libraries
mapped into process address space, not part of Wine.
The values don't seem very random but they point to invalid (not mapped) memory
locations.
I couldn't find any MCR opcodes in application code, so it's probably written
elsewhere.
This linux kernel patch has a bit of information:
http://www.kernelhub.org/?p=2&msg=57979
It got committed to Linux 3.3.5:
http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v3.x/ChangeLog-3.3.5 (search for
TPIDRURW).
I'm running 3.2.0 so it's obviously not cleared by kernel side on context
switch.
Anyway, I fear this will be most likely upstream if the kernel deliberately
clears it on every context switch (starting with 3.3.5).

When running the Visual Studio 2008 installer the setup window appears, and
starts loading installation components, after about 30 seconds full processor
usage, err:seh:setup_exception_record stack overflow appears in the terminal
output (see attachment) the progress bar increases slightly, and then it seems
to hang.
Checking with strace on the setup.exe process (the main one, the other one
gives me 'Operation not permitted', even when sudo'ing it) shows it is waiting
to read from a pipe, which is red when doing 'ls -l', I assume that means the
pipe doesn't exist any more?

Hello,
prerequisite: 'winetricks -q dotnet30'
Unfortunately for installation of Visual Studio 2008 Professional/Enterprise
editions you have to resort to hacks.
NOTE: Remote debugging capability is not available in Visual Studio 2005/2008
express editions (free for download).
Bug 29354 (installer fails due to ProductID being set during client side
"ValidateProductID" standard action -> don't set property)
Bug 10601 (GAC API for managed assembly installation needs reparse
point/junction API support -> force
msi_install_assembly()/IAssemblyCache_InstallAssembly to succeed on failure)
The installer still fails in the end but it's enough to have a "half" usable
IDE/build environment (.NET Framework 3.5 and some .NET service packs get
skipped due to Mono registry/fake mess while other components fail to install).
Unlike Visual Studio 2005 which uses wtsapi (bug 29903), Visual Studio 2008
retrieves the process list by different means and displays the process in
"standard" transport mode.

In addition to the "Global\" prefix, client processes can use the "Local\"
prefix to explicitly create an object in their session namespace. These
keywords are case sensitive.
The "Session\" prefix is reserved for system use and you should not use it in
names of kernel objects.
...
<user comments>
This documentation effectively states that 'Global', 'Local' and 'Session' are
all valid as name prefixes (but not as names).
There appears to be no documentation that says 'Session' cannot be used as a
prefix or that it is reserved for use as a prefix.
By referring to 'Session' as it does, it strongly implies that this a fully
legal and valid way to enable applications in one session to interact with
applications in another session.
I think Microsoft should consider adding more detail about whether 'Session' is
or is not valid for use by developers, and if so exactly what it can and cannot
be used for.
[user reponse] Global\ refers to the Global Namespace, Local\ refers to the
current session's namespace, Session\x\ refers to x's namespace where x is the
session id (not LUID or anything special, just a counter)
--- quote ---
"Memory mapped files from XP to Vista"
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/maartenb/archive/2008/05/07/memory-mapped-files-fro…
--- quote ---
... Online search for "sessions\1\basenamedobject" gives hits that point to
Terminal Services. There appear to be Local Global and Session namespaces. So
prior to Vista and Server 2008 all services shared the same namespace as the
first user logging in to the machine. This was session 0. With Vista this is no
longer the case. Just like all compatibility issues it is explained in the
cookbook.
--- quote ---
There is a workaround for this problem.
You can force a "normal" shared memory mapping name by setting to WinVer to
"Windows 2000" prior running the IDE.
Some components don't really support running WinVer < "Windows XP" anymore
hence this might break some stuff (VS2008 refuses to install with W2K mode).
At least this prevents the error message when attaching.
It doesn't really break/pause the remote process (might be bug 25462).

Patch for TableJoin bug
Imagine the following tables
Table foo:
string color
string flavor
Table bar:
string color
string flavor
with query
"Select foo.color, bar.flavor from foo, bar where foo.color=bar.color"
The current version returns the data from columns foo.color and foo.flavor.
This is because when the tables are joined, the original tablename identifiers
are dropped on the floor, resulting in a table with two 'color' and two
'flavor' columns. The VIEW_find_column() function then returns the first
column found that matches the requested name.
This can be traced to a deficiency in VIEW_find_column() which only uses the
column names in its comparison. Further, the sql parser does not preserve the
table identifier, but this is easily fixed.
A patch, including test case is attached.
This behaviour was observed when trying to install Visual Studio 2008 Standard
Edition.

and depending property "VS7.3643236F_FC70_11D3_A536_0090278A1BB8" reset.
MSDN info for AppSearch table here:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa367579.aspx
and AppSearch action: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa367578.aspx
Specifically:
--- quote ---
The AppSearch action requires that the Signature table be present in the
installation package. [..] A signature that is not in the Signature table
denotes a directory and the action sets the property to the directory path for
that signature.
--- quote ---
This "VInt_VS7_X86_____X86.3643236F_FC70_11D3_A536_0090278A1BB8" key is not
present in "Signature" table, it's actually a directory.
If we look in the previously posted "Component" table we see the directory is
actually "VS7.3643236F_FC70_11D3_A536_0090278A1BB8"
By looking into "Directory" table we find the following:
--- snip ---
Directory ; Directory Parent ; DefaultDir
VS7.3643236F_FC70_11D3_A536_0090278A1BB8
ProgramFilesFolder_x86.3643236F_FC70_11D3_A536_0090278A1BB8
VS90.NET|Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0
--- snip ---
So
"VS7.3643236F_FC70_11D3_A536_0090278A1BB8_RO.3643236F_FC70_11D3_A536_0090278A1BB8"
should resolve to "VS7.3643236F_FC70_11D3_A536_0090278A1BB8" -> L"C:\\Program
Files\\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\\" (install dir)
This looks like bug in wine msi appsearch action impl.

Terminal Output
Microsoft Flight Simulator X Installation doesn't work.
I'm tested with a clean wineprefix.
I'm using wine-1.3.9-1.fc14, on 64bit
I can see the installer loading dialog, but when the progress line gets to the
end, an error shows up, saying "1628: Failed to complete installation".
Attached is the terminal output.
Notice the line "wine: Invalid address"
I think this might need extra debugging.
Please note that the bug also occurs in the installer of the demo version.

It would be great if that function were implemented :)
