Always when it fades between scenes (means turning black for a moment) this fade does not only affect the virtual desktop but my entire screen/monitor gets black. Just start the demo (use wine taskmgr to bring the game to foreground and adjust the window size). Then quit the game and you should see a fade there which affects your entire screen.
