Wine backtrace
NppExec is a plugin for Notepad++ which can, e.g., execute an external tool
(e.g. compiler) from within Notepad++, parse its output and, based on the file
path and line number shown in the output, open the affected file and line
number within Notepad++.
The issue is that when NppExec opens the affected file and line, it appears
correctly in Notepad++, but then immediately following Win32Exception pops up:
An exception occured. Notepad++ cannot recover and must shut down.
The exception details are as follows:
Code: 0x80000101
Type: Unlisted exception
Exception address: 0xF77DF430
Reproduction example:
1. Create a text file named "test.txt" and fill a it with a few lines of text.
2. Create a text file named "output.txt" with following content (replace
brackets with path to the above "test.txt" according to its location):
[path-to-file, either in Linux or in Windows format, doesn't matter]test.txt:2:
whatever
3. Install the NppExec plugin (just copy its DLL into the /plugins directory of
Notepad++ installation)
4. Open Notepad++
5. Under the menu Plugins -> NppExec, click on "Console Output Filers",
activate the first mask and enter following into it, before confirming with OK:
%FILE%:%LINE%:*
6. Under the menu Plugins -> NppExec, click on "Show console dialog", to open
the console at the bottom of the window
7. Enter following into the console and hit enter (replace brackets with file
path):
cmd /c type [windows-style path to file]output.txt
8. Double-click on the line which appeared in the console
Expected results:
7. Content of the "output.txt" file (it's only one line here) appears in the
console
8. The above "test.txt" file is opened (with line 2 as current line) in
Notepad++.
Actual results:
8. As in "expected results", but a "Win32Exception" also pops up requiring
closure of Notepad++
Backtrace attached.
Wine used in its pure state (no Gecko, etc.) as provided by Linux Mint 17.1.
Configured as Windows 7. (Although WinXP and Win8 were also tried, with the
same result - all with completely virgin Wine configurations (the $USER/.wine
folder deleted before each test).)
* Notepad++ 6.8.3: npp.6.8.3.bin.7z (http://notepad-plus-plus.org/download/, at
the AppDB: http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=25722).
The installable variant npp.6.8.3.Installer.exe was tested with the same
result.

After that short amount of time, a window pops up saying 'Photoshop.exe has

Wine could have a deficiency, or the program itself.
I clicked on 'Show Details', and it loaded out the backtrack txt I have

In Bonzai3D there are a number of floating palettes, the principle one being
the modeling tool palette which in turn spawns related sub-palettes. For
example, hovering over the pick tool icon evokes a sub palette with various
pick options represented by icons. Selecting an option from the sub palette
closes the sub palette and should place the icon of the tool chosen in the
modeling tool palette. This occurs rarely and randomly.

I followed the process to install Wine HQ as spelled out on the FAQ, including
installing XQuartz, XCode, and MacPorts, and having MacPorts build Wine in the
Terminal. Then I downloaded Voobly and the Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds
game found on GOG:
https://www.gog.com/game/star_wars_galactic_battlegrounds_saga
I installed both using Wine. Voobly works perfectly, but SWGB runs with normal
looking cutscenes but when it gets to the main menu the video flickers and
glitches so that it is unusable. I did some research and tried to remedy this
by opening up winecfg and setting it to emulate a virtual desktop, but it
seemed to have no effect.
If there is more information that will help troubleshoot this bug, let me know
where I should go to pull it. I'm still new to Wine and not sure what the most
relevant info is.

After installing, start it and do the following:
- Country->USA
- Single User
- Enter some details and choose "Evaluation Mode"
- Click "Address-Book"
- Select the only entry
- Select the printer icon in the toolbar
- Print to the CUPS PDF driver
Tested with:
Ubuntu 8.10/9.04 32-and 64-bit prepackaged wine
Ubuntu 9.04 64-bit wine 1.1.26 from git
Preliminary analysis:
Wine downloads the font glyphes correctly into the postscript-file.
But the font sizes written to the postscript-file are way too large, resulting
in the software positioning the text blocks incorrectly. (See
original_trace.txt)
The trace is clearer when disabled font embedding by commenting out the check
in wineps.drv. ScaleFont then reports a font size of ~40k (see
no_download_trace.txt).
Problem seems to be in the resolution of the hdc in use, as all numbers seems
fine until processed by LPtoDP.

The following error only happens on the mixed locale WineTest box.
ordinal.c:248: Test failed: have 'iu-ca' (searching for 'iu-Latn-CA')
That box (fg-win7u64-1spie9-mx) has the following locale settings:
Formats=Inuktitut (Syllabics, Canada)
Location=Israel
Language=German (Germany)
SystemLocale=Japanese (Japan)
It's probably getting tripped by the uncommon Inuktitut locale.

Prior to 6.0, World of Warcraft worked well under wine, at least the time I've
been playing.
Now, it just freezes with 100% CPU usage (only in 1 core), but don't happen
always, sometimes at the end of loading bar, sometimes just when walking, but
it happens near 100% of the time I open it.
I used also winetricks to install d3d9 stuff, and also tried opengl, nothing
prevented those freezes.
Also, I am using the 64bit client as I have my system as 64bit.
Maybe related to #29584 as it happens sometimes also on the load bar..

Summary: scsi controller IDs mapped to wrong ASPI IDs
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.48.
Platform: PC

Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-binary
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: wbreyha(a)gmx.net
Hi!
The builtin wnaspi32.dll seems to number SCSI Port IDs 0,1,2,4,8,0x10,....
(like the native linux controller IDs), instead of 0,1,2,3,4,5..... (as
required by ASPI as far as I was told). So every device connected to a SCSI
Port ID larger then 2 is not visible to applications.
At least on my machine I see this numbering in the
HKLM/Hardware/DEVICEMAP/Scsi/
tree. "Scsi Port x" where x=0,1,2,4,8,.....
I tried to run "Easy CD-CA Extractor" and my DVD-Drive is connected to
controller id 4 (which should be 3 in ASPI aspects). Copying the whole tree
from "Scsi Target 4" to "Scsi Target 3" worked.
The developer of "Easy CD-DA Extractor" told me that ASPI requires a
0,1,2,3,4,5,... numbering.

Basicly with this commit "3d5fe2074e569a9d846a6018792d68d76d3eb38d" I see frame
stuttering with the game Aces High 2.
To reproduce this problem: 1. Download
http://downloads.hitechcreations.com/AH2322.EXE
2. Install and run the game using a wine version greater or equal to 1.7.33
3. You should notice the frames are stuttering immediatly inside the menu if
not click on "Offline Practice" to do further testing.
The frame rate is smooth if you reverse this commit.
Also if you are using mesa you need libtxc_dxtn to see most of the textures.

work.
I'm trying to run a demo version of an interesting program called Universal
Mechanism. It's developed by a university and is able to solve and simulate
physical systems quite accurately. It's used by companies and researchers, and
is reasonably affordable:
http://umlab.ru/index.htm
The program works, but large parts of the display vanish except when the mouse
pointer is moved over them. Could be used, but tedious. I'd guess it might be
an interesting program for some users, quite a rare type of program, and
useful. Since it runs OK, except UI I wondered if you might be able to
investigate? I don't know which part of wine might be responsible, but I'd
guess one of the accelerated graphics libraries. I'm using Debian Etch, with
your package: 0.9.44~winehq0~debian~4.0-1
I have an nvidia graphics card, and opengl works fine for other apps, via
nvidia driver, again debian package.
If you need more info please ask,
Thanks in advance,
Arthur

Program communicates with the radio through an interface based on USB->COM
converter on FTDI chip. After the com port initialisation the CTS/DSR lines
stay low, problem is that radio can not read the data if they are low.
When running the program under Windows, COM-port initialisation sets the
CTS/DSR lines in the high state.
Is there any way to set them high?

To be a bit more accurate, GomezPEER can be seen behind other windows, when
GomezPEER updates its window. Parts of the window updates every second so it
is effectively always there.
This is not a new problem, it has existed for as long as I can remember.
Currently using Gnome/Ubuntu/GDM/fglrx but appears on all desktops I have used.
Desktop effects are disabled and windows are not transparent.
The attached screenshot should make it obvious.

Summary: Window contents not updated properly after being moved
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.55.
Platform: PC-x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: P2
Component: directx-ddraw
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: markk(a)clara.co.uk
Hi,
I believe this bug relates to DirectDraw. (Apologies for my lack of detailed
knowledge about Windows.)
In some cases, moving a window whose contents are updated by DirectX calls
causes trash/garbage to appear when the window is drawn in its new position,
My theory is that WINE remembers the window contents at the moment the user
begins dragging the title bar, and simply copies that to the new window
position. If the program continues to update the DirectX buffer while the user
is moving the window frame, WINE puts the old/stale buffer contents in the
moved window. This happens in both normal and virtual desktop modes.
For applications like video players, this effect may not be very noticeable if
the player redraws the whole window every frame. But for applications which
don't do that, the effect can be quite ugly.
One program I have found which shows this problem is WinUAE. To reproduce:
- Download and install WinUAE from http://www.winuae.net/
- Download an example disk image for testing, e.g.
ftp://ftp.coresystems.de/pub/uae/rsi1.adf.gz
- Start WinUAE and select the rsi1.adf.gz file for emulated drive DF0:, and
start the emulation.
- Once the demo graphics appear, repeatedly move the main WinUAE window and
notice the problem.

X Window System: XQuartz 2.7.4 (xorg-server 1.13.0)
Wine version: 1.5.18 - latest development version, built with GCC 4.7.2 from
sources.
I am using development version, because it has the built-in fix for Bug 32101.
All the dependencies of Wine and GCC are the latest stable.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
First of all, bug 12622 needs to be reopened (or a new version of it to be
created, since
"fixme:win:EnumDisplayDevicesW ((null),0,0xRandomMemoryAddress,0x00000000),
stub!" error is not fixed by inserting/mounting a CD!
If I mount/insert a CD, I get this console error anyway, and program closes in
two seconds!
If I don't mount/insert a CD, I get this console error and the program launches
with warning message "?????CD??????????"
(no CD present). But, if I ignore this warning message and don't click OK
(which would result in program termination)
I could navigate in the main program window between menu options (with keyboard
arrows only, since program window
doesn't expand and anything except "File(F)" is not visible. I click "File(F)"
and then left/right keyboard arrows)
However, if I click "Option (O)", "Rotation", "Window Size", "Sound Record
(S)", "Video Record (V)",
or even "cep(C)" (which should show a small message, like "About...") I get a
"Program Error" message.
In the attachment, you could see a .zip archive with all the different
backtraces I got for these options.

Mouse input in NOLF is generally a bit "inprecise", but one thing is broken for

Some weapons feature a zoom mode, but when this zoom mode is switched on it's
almost impossible to accurately use it since the mouse input becomes very
sluggish then. Turn zoom off again and mouse input stabilizes again.
I suppose that's a dinput problem, but I'm not sure about that.
The wine-0.9.46 testresult here
(http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=305&iTestingId…)
mentions a "weird mouse problem", but I'm not sure if that's what I'm
encountering.
Haven't tried any native DLLs though.

Summary: Some Menus not working in Microsoft Money 2005
(version 14)

Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal

Installed wine 1.5.22 on Ubuntu 12.04.1 (32 bit). Clean install with previous
.wine directory removed.
Program installed ok, this is as with previous versions of wine (1.4.1 and
1.5.19).
Good news. The program started up. Previously (1.4.1 and 1.5.19) it always
crashed. The only way to go any further would have been to install ie6. Not
required today.
When I tried to use the "lower" menu row in the program, the mouse highlighted
the menu names, but nothing happened when pressed. Output in the terminal was
like:

plain terminal output
The crashes sometimes happen while you're in the menus after starting the game,
but always reproducible when you start a new game (or the tutorial in the demo
version).
When it crashes I can only see the game's own bug reporting window so I can't
get a backtrace.
If I run the game under winedbg the problem is that winedbg doesn't detect the
crash, it's only a bug reporting form that is displayed.
The same problem with Wine 1.2.3/1.4.1/1.6.2/1.7.22
'winetricks wmp9 devenum quartz' doesn't help, they needed to play music and
the intro videos.
Reducing graphical details in the game, disabling audio doesn't help either.

Summary: FILE_ATTRIBUTE_READONLY and FILE_ATTRIBUTE_HIDDEN
should perhaps use BSD flags
Product: Wine
Version: 1.7.9
Hardware: x86

Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P2
Component: ntdll
Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
Reporter: guy(a)alum.mit.edu
4.4-Lite introduced per-file flags, which show up as the st_flags field of
"struct stat" and can be set with the chflags() and fchflags() calls.
For plain files, the UF_IMMUTABLE flag corresponds pretty closely to the
Windows FILE_ATTRIBUTE_READONLY flag.
OS X added the UF_HIDDEN flag. so that its kernel SMB client could report the
Windows FILE_ATTRIBUTE_HIDDEN flag to userland.
It might be useful for Wine to, on systems with the st_flags field in "struct
stat" and the chflags() call, to report that a file is read-only if
UF_IMMUTABLE is set, even if the file's permissions allow reading, and to set
UF_IMMUTABLE as well as turning read permissions off if FILE_ATTRIBUTE_READONLY
is set. (You probably want to turn off file permissions in case the file is on
a server; the server might not support setting that flag if, for example, it's
an NFS server.)
On OSes that have them *and* that have UF_HIDDEN, the same (modulo file
permissions) should perhaps be done for FILE_ATTRIBUTE_HIDDEN.
This has been discussed in the past; see the thread starting at
https://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-devel/2009-October/079038.html
(It might also be worth looking at supporting NT ACLs on UN*Xes that have
NT-style ACLs; OS X's ACLs are NT-style, and other UN*Xes might support them
even if they call them NFSv4-style ACLs.)

Summary: Savestates not working in DeSmuME (the keyboard
command is not being processed)
Product: Wine

Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal

ReportedBy: cvoeten(a)gmail.com
Classification: Unclassified
I have no idea why this is not working, but every kind of input imaginable
works, except for anything having to do with savestates.
To reproduce:
1) Download DeSmuME: http://desmume.org/download/
2) Download a ROM, for example from here:
http://hive.ndshb.com/index.php/component/jdownloads/finish/4/183
3) run 'wine DeSmuME.exe'
4) File->Open ROM and select the ROM
5) Press F1
Expected result: an error message "Failed to load slot 1" is displayed.
What happens: nothing.
Remapping the 'load savestate 1' function to a regular key, say the letter E,
does not make it work.
I know this reeks of being an app-specific bug, but it works in Windows.
As to the cause I can only speculate (and I'm not a programmer), however the
only remotely reasonable explanation *I* can come up with is that perhaps the
savestate actions are processed upon a key release event being recieved,
whereas the other in-game keypresses are processed differently. But that's pure
speculation, I haven't looked at the actual code (read: I don't have the skills
to read it).

controls are which. I assume this is a bug with WINE as this does not occur

This bug is extremely similar to

Every Wine window I try to close lingers for about 1 to 1.5 seconds before
disappearing, and finally when it does, a fixme error is being printed that
looks like this:
fixme:event:wait_for_withdrawn_state window 0x1002a/1200005 wait timed out
I'm using wine 1.9.6 on Arch Linux. The same problem happens with a clean
wineprefix.

I also saw calls, or paths with character codification (MS Windows ISO-8859-1
or ISO-8859-15 vs. Linux UTF-8) issues. But I do not know if this is a relevant
part of the problem, or simply a noise.
Every thing is collected in the file attached.
I do not know whether this information be enough so you might solve it, or
whether it requires a workaround configuration to make it run.
Thank you.

Screenshot of regedit
When setting the dpi to a higher value (2× = 192dpi, 2.5× = 240dpi), many user
interface elements have inconsistent dimensions and font sizes. This heavily
affects usability.
• menu and context menues are too small
• +/- expanders are too small to click, they seem not to render properly
• column widths are by default too narrow
• scrollbars are too small
• statusbar is too small
• slider grip (in winecfg) is too small
• icons are too small
While there are also visual inconsistencies on Windows itself, these elements
are at least at usable sizes on Windows 7+.
This affects also explorer.exe, notepad.exe, and third-party applications as
well (though they might use different UI libraries), like 7-zip file manager,
etc.

Clamp the glFlush rate in the Mac driver to 60Hz
The game Majesty Gold HD (http://www.gog.com/game/majesty_gold_hd ) runs very
slowly under Wine for me (Late 2013 iMac 21.5", quad 2.9GHz Core i5, GeForce GT
750M with 1GB GDDR5, OS X 10.9.5). There is an in-game slider to speed up the
game, but it has no effect.
The game is a DirectDraw 7 game. There are also some reports on Windows
regarding this problem, but most people can solve it by telling the game to use
DirectDraw for blitting (set BlitMode=1 in the MajXPrefs, or use the -useddblit
command line parameter -- see
http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?threads/bug-fixes.601217/#pos…
)
The game performs its drawing commands in the same thread that runs the game
logic (I don't know whether anything else is even supported by by DirectDraw
7). From a trace I can see that game performs many small blits to update only
the parts of the screen that have changed. Example from a trace:
trace:ddraw:ddraw_surface7_Blt iface 0x16c160, dst_rect (0,0)-(24,38),

I think Wine, however, always flushes a complete new screen via OpenGL, as the
game spends almost all of its time waiting for glFlush() to finish. I have
verified that this is the case by applying the attached patch to the Mac driver
code to unconditionally clamp the glFlush rate to 60Hz. This solves the speed
issue, even at 1920x1080 (without the patch, the game is glacial even at
800x600). Obviously, the patch cannot be integrated in wine, since it
occasionally discards the "last" blit to screen after a static scene change,
leaving old data visible and no longer updating.
I previously posted about this issue (a long time ago) on wine-dev:
https://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-devel/2015-February/106625.html . To
answer some questions/suggestions from the end of that thread:
a) the SkipSingleBufferFlushes registry key does not help (my system supports
the GL_APPLE_flush_render extension)
b) related to Henri Verbeet's suggestion that it may be related to wine
possibly not implementing asynchronous ddraw blits: it's true that wine does
not support this, but OTOH the game does not ask for them either: it calls
ddraw_surface7_Blt rather than ddraw_surface7_BltFast (BltFast is documented on
MSDN as always being asynchronous), and it does not set the DDBLT_ASYNC flag
The game offers a built-in ability to wait for vsync via its configuration file
(set the VSync variable in $HOME/Documents/My Games/MajestyHD/MajXPrefs to
"1"), but that only results in
trace:ddraw:ddraw7_WaitForVerticalBlank iface 0x146750, flags 0x1, event 0x0.
fixme:ddraw:ddraw7_WaitForVerticalBlank iface 0x146750, flags 0x1, event 0x0
stub!
I'm also not sure whether it would help, but looking at the ddraw log (which I
will also attach -- it's a trace+ddraw,trace+d3d_draw log), I think it may
since often there are several blits between the vsync waits.
Some possible approaches to tackle this issue may be:
* handle small direct rects more efficiently
* add support for waiting for VSync in ddraw
There is a demo of an older version of the game, but it can only run in 640x480
and there is no way to adjust the game speed via an in-game slider, and at
least on my system the difference with and without my patch is not very visible
there (http://www.cyberlore.com/Majesty/demo.htm )

Chronology fails to start and consumes 100% of a CPU when run under wine-mono

Based on a log with WINE_MONO_TRACE=wrapper, the only thing it does is call
Steamworks.NativeMethods:SteamAPI_InitSafe, which is a cdecl function with no
arguments. That function then endlessly throws breakpoint exceptions.
InitSafe is a cdecl function with no arguments returning signed char. I have no
idea how we could be screwing this up.

It seems like CompareStringW does not work correctly, when using wide/unicode
strings. I first discovered this when I saw that listbox controls sorted
swedish characters (say, LATIN SMALL LETTER A WITH RING ABOVE) side by side
with the base character (LATIN SMALL LETTER A). An example is
http://www.cendio.se/~astrand/wine/40-listbox-sort/list.exe.
The cause seems to be that CompareStringW gives the wrong result. I've created
the small test example
http://www.cendio.se/~astrand/wine/40-listbox-sort/comparestring.exe, with
source available in the same directory. On Windows, the result is that the
string "äpple" is greater than "orange", which is correct. With the latest
Wine CVS version, the result is that "äpple" is lesser than "orange", which is
wrong.

Summary: OS X cannot redirect steam:// URL to Steam.exe

I am running the PC version of Steam within OS X. I have installed Half-Life.
Now I would like to install the high-definition pack. The way to do this is to
visit the link:
steam://installaddon/halflifehd
However, clicking on this link does not automatically send the click to Steam
(so whatever API is used by Steam to register steam:// to redirect to Steam.exe
is having no effect).
When I click on the above link, I get a dialog box within OS X (attached). From
within this dialog, I can select any OS X application (*.app) to receive the
steam:// click. However, if I navigate my drive_c directory, all Windows
executables, including Steam.exe, are gray and cannot be selected. Therefore, I
cannot redirect it to the PC version of Steam. (It's worth noting that one
could redirect it to the Mac version of Steam).
This is obviously a problem with Wine fitting into the OS X design paradigm.
But the program doesn't work as it's supposed to, so it's a bug.

Bug #: 29240
Summary: Anti-aliasing not working for all fonts
Product: Wine
Version: 1.3.34
Platform: x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: fonts
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: A.Fettouhi(a)gmail.com
Classification: Unclassified
Yesterday I updated wine on my Arch 64 bit system from 1.3.33 to 1.3.34. Since
then I've noticed that some now aren't anti-aliased anymore. I've seen it in
Steam when looking at the fonts displaying "MAC", "VIDEOS" etc. on the main
page and on the install pop-up that appears when you install flash11. These
fonts looked fine on 1.3.33 but with 1.3.34 they look "ugly". So some kind of
regression happended.

this is from the crash report I have no idea what it says
Upon launching steam using WINE I get a crash report. I saved it, you can read
up on it. Basically using Linux Zorin I am, the UI is horribly glitchy and the
entire app is completely unusable. The only reason I need to use a windows
version of steam should be obvious: Windows games and all. Anyways, I am not
sure about this bug, nor do I know enough about linux to provide much more
info, other than the saved doc with the error imprinted in it from the report
itself.

ReplayGain by Foobar gains only with standardoptions and it ignores every
change.
So if I want to write with "+0.0db" to get "89db" on a track he will do this.
But if I want to write with "+6,00" to get "95db" on a track he also writes
with "0,0db". It seems that its a debian versions problem. Ubuntu versions
works fine. But I dont use ubuntu anymore.

Summary: GetMonitorInfo returns wrong work area
Product: Wine

Severity: normal

GetMontorInfo always returns rcWork equal to rcMonitor, but it must take panels
and taskbars into account.
The only solution I can see is to use SystemParametersInfo(SPI_SETWORKAREA)
during initialization time, but I do not know how to deal with different
monitors.
P.S. It is needed to properly implement maximum dimensions of console window.
