I tried many times but Steam doesn't load any page or install any game.
I'm trying to run with "WINEDEBUG=-all wine Steam.exe -no-cef-sandbox
-no-dwrite -tcp" (AFAIK cef and dwrite are already fixed and I could remove
them) I tried the combinations with/without each argument
To force Steam to install a specific game even without internet connection to
find it using Steam application, I ran "WINEDEBUG=-all wine Steam.exe
-no-cef-sandbox -no-dwrite -tcp steam://run/372000" and then the Steam
applications says it can't install without internet connection.
One strange thing is that I installed it and after the installation, the
application updates itself without problem
Also, I have libnss-mdns:i386 library installed and updated as I have mdns in
my hosts entry of /etc/nsswitch.conf file.
I tried with Windows 7 and XP (using winecfg, setting globally and specific to
the application as well)
$wine --version
wine-2.1
Installed the latest version through:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:wine/wine-builds
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install --install-recommends winehq-devel
I searched for help on internet and on
https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=19444 , but I
didn't find a similar problem or a workaround
Anyone have a hint how I can get it working? Or how I can get the back trace to
help to investigate this problem?
Thank you all for the help
Kind regards,
Luan

I am having issues mallocing more than 32GB of memory running RAM intensive
Windows applications using Wine on an Ubuntu amazon EC2 cloud with 128 GB of
RAM. When I run the c++ code
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/34516616/wine-cant-use-more-than-32gb-of…
in linux it works.
If I run the .exe that does the same thing I can only allocate up to 32GB. I
tried Wine 1.6, 1.7 and 1.9. I am using the 64 bit version as well.
I talked in the IRC chat #winehq and they told me to run the code with
WINEDEBUG=+heap,+virtual,+tid flags.
He pointed out this line might be useful to look at in my logs:
0024:warn:heap:allocate_large_block Could not allocate block for 800000000

and told me to submit a bug report. The log is attached.

Handy test app
I was investigating this gallium nine bug:
https://github.com/iXit/Mesa-3D/issues/253
And strangely with that game (School Mate), both wine ogl and gallium nine do
render a blue wall (for traces taken on windows or taken with gallium nine,
because on wine the game hits a fallback path since swvp is not supported).
Windows doesn't have that blue wall.
My investigation shows that both wine ogl and gallium nine have an issue with
specular. The problem is best shown when the material power is 0 (like in the
game).
I include the following test app (which I couldn't find the original link)
which enables to test the behaviour:
For example you can test with:
. Take the sphere
. Set SPECULARENABLE to TRUE
. Set 0 for the diffuse material colors and increase the specular material
colors
. Set the material power to 0 (or any low value)
. play with the direction of the light. Compare on windows and observe output
is different.
. Play with LOCALVIEWER. On wine the outputs changes a bit, whereas on windows
it doesn't.

It is a tooltip control, created for a toolbar with TBSTYLE_TOOLTIPS style.
The tooltip properly is sending TTN_NEEDTEXT notification, but when trying to
determine which tool needs tooltip by sending TTM_GETCURRENTTOOL to the tooltip

In any other way, the tooltip works fine. For example if I return arbitrary
text in the TOOLTIPTEXTW.lpszText field, this text is displayed properly.
In Windows, TTM_GETCURRENTTOOL returns TRUE and filled up TOOLINFO structure
about the toolbar that activated the tooltip control.
Here is a link to the procedure that creates the toolbar:

Although this has been improved, deleting comments is still a long, painful,
laborious task.
Adobe Photoshop CS4, just as one example, has a load of comments. The majority
of these are pointless and should be removed. The problem being it would take
at least an hour to do so.
The current method is:
1. Select a thread to delete.
2. Enter (or paste) a reason.
3. Press delete.
4. Wait for the page (and all the comments) to load again.
5. Go to Step 1.
If any comments are worth keeping, you have to be careful not to delete them.
In apps like photoshop, this can create a LOT of emails too (I've just remove a
load of comments from CS3 and received over a hundred emails).
A nice method might be:
1. Select "Edit Comments".
2. Tick the stale comments to remove.
3. Enter a generic reason.
4. Hit delete.
5. Job's a good un.
Maybe this could then be reduced to one email per person too?

need to go to my queue and identify this entry among all the elements of the
queue in order to process it.
I believe both things worked well in the past -- 2-3 years ago?

Witcher 3 Wild Hunt is still not working under WINE. Instead of a vcomp110.dll
error (as in Bug 38613) - now it is just crashing with a "Page fault on write
access to 0x00000000 in 64-bit code" message.
Back trace attached. Also Witcher3 error log is attached.

*I installed WoT by PoL.* (The installation script is in this link:
https://www.playonlinux.com/en/app-1592-World_Of_Tanks.html)
Hello, i'm getting a bug after i login, in the garage. as in the screenshot, it
keeps flashing and the upper menu of everything dont show(when i get to the
options menu it dont show the tabs too), also after the login some rewards or
adverts dont show(i know they are there because i cant rotate the vehicles, so
i press esc a few times and after it i can). the only modification i did was to
change
"/.PlayOnLinux/wineprefix/WorldOfTanks/drive_c/Games/World_of_Tanks/res/cef/cef_browser_process.exe"
to "cef_browser_processREMOVED.exe" because i couldnt enter the garage (crash
after login).
I also tried to do some bug fixes that i found here but nothing changed.

Crash Dump
Wine threw a fatal error and crash assert while playing Baulder's Gate 1. This
issue was seen to occur during combat. It should be noted that 2 spells were
being cast simultaneously, causing multiple magic assets to fire, as the game
auto paused due to an enemy sighting. After reviewing the crash dump I think
this might have to do with GPU performance or some part of baulders gate code
messing with Wine. Could be wrong though!
Steps to Reproduction:
1. Launch Baulder's Gate with Wine version 1.7.35.
2. Load attached save and progress into house directly east of party.
3. Navigate the party into the basement of the house and enter the doorway to
the left of the staircase.
4. Have party member 3 and 4 cast a spell and advance one party member down the
hall during the magic animation. (this is to trigger the auto-pause feature
while the magic animations fire)
5. Observe that the title crashes when attempting to auto-pause with multiple
magic animations firing.
Repro Rate: ? (Seen Once)
Notes:
- Crash dump file attached.
- Will create a duplicate issue with save file attached.

but try to Alt+Tab and Alt+Esc to/from Excel a bunch of time.
Attached are the results - the initial orphan window, and what happens when I

Lexware Buchhalter Plus 2017 setup crashes after entering the license code.
I have attached a backtrace and stderrout logs.
Steps to reproduce:
- create clean win32 wineprefix
- winetricks corefonts dotnet40 (or dotnet452, doesn't make a difference)
- set Windows version back to Windows 7
- wine Buchhalter_plus_Setup.exe (*)
- enter license string (any 24 characters)
=> Upon entering the last character of the license code, wine crashes.
(*) This is a commercial program, which has a 30 day trial. I do have a public
download link to the latest installer which I extracted from the offline
version of their installer, but I am not sure if I may publish this link here
(even though you can only use the product with a valid license)
So if you need this link or any other information, please let me know.

Summary: Missing categorising by video driver version in AppDB
Product: WineHQ Apps Database
Version: unspecified
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P2
Component: appdb-unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: mityukov(a)gmail.com
I found the AppDB is a bit unusable, when it comes to quick check on "Which
games will run in my system", or "Will this game run for me".
The most important thing, when it come to games - is the Video Driver. For
example, there are many games, that run for NVidia owners, but don't run for
ATI, and so on.
Another point, when it comes to specific driver name and version. For example,
open-source "radeon" supports only OpenGL 1.3, and Catalyst supports higher
implementations. Moreover, different versions of the same, let say Catalyst,
may work differently for this or that program. There are also regressions, etc.
Again: Video Drivers in Linux, are not ideal. I would say, this point have even
higher affect than the Distribution.
What I would like to see, near the "Distribution" column -- is another one:
"Video" or something like this, where it will say e.g. "Catalyst 8.9". This way
it will be possible to link Rating with certain Video Setup, before taking the
decision.
Some tools for searching Games, that work with specific video driver(s) would
also be _HIGHLY_ appreciated.
