Bug ID: 40701
Summary: COCO simulator: Aborting of painting upon concurrent
WM_PAINT messages
Product: Wine
Version: 1.9.9
Hardware: x86
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P3
Component: -unknown
Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
Reporter: kooijman(a)clarkson.edu
Distribution: ---
Under wine v1.9.9 while using COCO v3.1.0.1(from http://cocosimulator.org/) I
encountered a problem with the painting of window elements during a simulation.
Normally this would cause parts of the flowsheets to light up in a different
color while each part is being solved but now this is no longer the case. The
problem is not related to any particular flowsheet being solved, you can take
any example from the samples they have online at
http://cocosimulator.org/index_sample.html
Note this bug occurs after the most recent bug update from COCO, titled
"prevent problems due to re-entrancy in painting methods caused by STA threads
in 3rd party modules", see http://cocosimulator.org/index_changes.html. I
contacted author jasper van baten <jasper(a)amsterchem.com>. He commented that
"COM is flawed in the matter of thread safety in case there is somewhere any
STA compartment which means that WM_PAINT messages can come in concurrently. If
this is detected, paint is aborted and a private message is posted (which is
received non-concurrently in the main windowing thread) and the window update
proceeds from there. I am guessing wine has a bug that makes this message does
not arrive." Jasper recommended me to go back to using the stable version 1.8
for there the problem does not occur according to him. I fear that going back
would just postpone the issue for me and hence I wanted to report it as a bug.

They're not related. If you read the prior comments, you'll note that this is
unlikely be to fixed anytime soon if ever. Use the native dll via winetricks.

If not, mfc is not implemented at all according to
https://www.winehq.org/winapi_stats
If so, mf is only 3% implemented which would explain any issues with it.

Downloaded the sources from GIT repositories, resolved the build dependencies,
and build the latest version.
These are the dependencies that I cannot resolve:
- configure: libhal 32-bit development files not found, no legacy dynamic
device support.
- configure: OSS sound system found but too old (OSSv4 needed), OSS won't be
supported.
The profile with the IMAP server (imap-mail.outlook.com) loaded without
apparent issues, but the profile with the MS Exchange Server cannot connect to
the server.
Switched to the TAG "wine-2.0.2" and everything was worked fine. In this
version the configure command stopped to recognize the libOSMesa headers, but I
did not notice any great problem:
- configure: libOSMesa 32-bit development files not found (or too old),
OpenGL rendering in bitmaps won't be supported.
I started a git bisect to isolate the commit that introduced the regression
causing the MSExchange connect problems and the result was:

The ntprint test crashes on ntprint.c:74 when ntprint.dll is not present,

that case. I suggest fixing this by reusing the same code that's present for
example in the spoolss test.

The whole point of having a wiki is to allow users to "collaboratively modify
content". Ideally, even anonymous users would be able to do that, or at least
make suggestions using article talk pages... Currently, even after creating an
account, i cannot even create my own user page and/or talk page!
Basically, at the very least, "Autoconfirmed users" and/or "Users" should be
able to edit any and all talk pages.
Hopefully, able to edit other pages too, at least those that aren't protected.

Summary: Add field for changes to default winecfg settings to
AppDB test report form
Product: WineHQ Apps Database
Version: unspecified
Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P2
Component: appdb-unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: dimesio(a)earthlink.net
The AppDB test report form currently does not have a specific field to list
changes made to default winecfg settings. Reporters can, of course, use the
extra comments section for this, but many forget or don't bother, and even when
they do, the information may be buried amongst a number of comments. This
causes confusion amongst users (esp. new ones) who expect an app to work well
based on a gold rating, but may not realize that it requires some tweaking.
Adding a separate field would remind reporters to include this information, and
highlight it for readers. This field could also be used to automatically
restrict platinum ratings to the stated definition of "no changes required in
winecfg."

After launch you will see a window shows how many days you're able to use a
trial. Also you can choose between two buttons 'Upgrade Now' or 'No, Thanks'.
If you doesn't click anything around 3-5 sec. you will see another window with
another buttons 'Buy Now' and 'Launch Now'. Clicking on them has no effect.
Disabling mshtml prevents changing the first window.

Since launching the game the cursor appears at the center of the screen, when
you move the mouse, the cursor will move too but will rapidly move to the
center again the problem is present:
-before the main menu starts
-in the main menu
-in the menu while in-game
+probably in-game
while in-game there's no cursor so there'd be no easy way to make sure,
however, the camera doesn't actually follow the mouse movement and behaves as
the bug described, which makes playing the game with kb/m almost unplayable as
one can't aim(in case of using a secondary weapon that is meant to be aimed) or
move the camera accurately.
The problem is likely related to the stubs attached.

The work-around (use natice comctl32.dll) doesn't work anymore - FastStone

This bug is still present today in wine 2.14. For me I can't see any thumbnails

Tested with latest FastStone 6.3.

again.
Since there are no official builds I tried the ones here
http://adolfintel.com/index.php?p=wined3d/index.frag
(Tried the oldest and newest builds there)
Although the bug was fixed I was greeted with a crash after I loaded the game.
It happens as soon as I move the mouse. Also double clicking to load a game
didn't work. So maybe something mouse related?
Based on comments the maker of the builds also experienced the crash.

wine: Bad EXE format for pathToExe.
These 2 lines tell me that there is an issue with the EXE, but only the first
actually gives me useful information. The second is more confusing than
anything. My suggestion is to remove it. This would mean the most important
message would be more visible.

I got an email about Test Results submitted for a (new) version of Total
Commander
(http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=614).
SUBJECT:
[AppDB] Test Results submitted for version 7.56a of Total Commander (a.k.a.
Windows Commander) by StefanDe
BODY:

To be honest, I don't know why I got this email, maybe because I'm a maintainer
or I monitor version 7.50a..
The problem is that I cannot view these "Test Results", the AppDB URL from the
email, which is supposed to do this, shows:

Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Hardware: x86

Created attachment 58872
--> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=58872
All the scrollable textfields repeat only the first line
This bug occurs on all scrollable textfields (maybe the appropriate name is
different) in the game. In the terminal, when a menu with the previous
textfield is opened, the following appears:
fixme:edit:EDIT_EM_FmtLines soft break enabled, not implemented
This happens on wine 1.6, wine stable (2.0.2) and wine-devel (2.16).
