Summary: Infinite loop of .NET Framework 4.6 install during
Trikker install
Product: Wine
Version: 2.13
Hardware: x86-64

Status: UNCONFIRMED

Console output of the installation
Hey,
While trying to install the demo version of Trikker
(=dutch electrical wiring drawing program),
the installation of Microsoft .NET Framework 4.6 (x86 and x64) takes forever
(as in does not stop).
A dialog of the installation appears, the progress bar progresses but upon
reaching 100%, resets to 0%. Over and over again. The windows remains
interactive and cancellable (but actual cancelling does not work).
I have attached the console output.

Summary: Add field for changes to default winecfg settings to
AppDB test report form
Product: WineHQ Apps Database
Version: unspecified
Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P2
Component: appdb-unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: dimesio(a)earthlink.net
The AppDB test report form currently does not have a specific field to list
changes made to default winecfg settings. Reporters can, of course, use the
extra comments section for this, but many forget or don't bother, and even when
they do, the information may be buried amongst a number of comments. This
causes confusion amongst users (esp. new ones) who expect an app to work well
based on a gold rating, but may not realize that it requires some tweaking.
Adding a separate field would remind reporters to include this information, and
highlight it for readers. This field could also be used to automatically
restrict platinum ratings to the stated definition of "no changes required in
winecfg."

After launch you will see a window shows how many days you're able to use a
trial. Also you can choose between two buttons 'Upgrade Now' or 'No, Thanks'.
If you doesn't click anything around 3-5 sec. you will see another window with
another buttons 'Buy Now' and 'Launch Now'. Clicking on them has no effect.
Disabling mshtml prevents changing the first window.

Since launching the game the cursor appears at the center of the screen, when
you move the mouse, the cursor will move too but will rapidly move to the
center again the problem is present:
-before the main menu starts
-in the main menu
-in the menu while in-game
+probably in-game
while in-game there's no cursor so there'd be no easy way to make sure,
however, the camera doesn't actually follow the mouse movement and behaves as
the bug described, which makes playing the game with kb/m almost unplayable as
one can't aim(in case of using a secondary weapon that is meant to be aimed) or
move the camera accurately.
The problem is likely related to the stubs attached.

The work-around (use natice comctl32.dll) doesn't work anymore - FastStone
hangs showing the hour-glass mouse pointer. Please fix this long-standing bug.
This bug is still present today in wine 2.14. For me I can't see any thumbnails
past the first 16.
Tested with latest FastStone 6.3.

Since bug 26875 is fixed I gave Desperados (gog.com version) a go with wineD3D
again.
Since there are no official builds I tried the ones here
http://adolfintel.com/index.php?p=wined3d/index.frag
(Tried the oldest and newest builds there)
Although the bug was fixed I was greeted with a crash after I loaded the game.
It happens as soon as I move the mouse. Also double clicking to load a game
didn't work. So maybe something mouse related?
Based on comments the maker of the builds also experienced the crash.

Wine :

wine: Bad EXE format for pathToExe.
These 2 lines tell me that there is an issue with the EXE, but only the first
actually gives me useful information. The second is more confusing than
anything. My suggestion is to remove it. This would mean the most important
message would be more visible.

As far as I can notice, the bad commit is the same involved in bug 23208.
Fixing this regression would really bring this app towards complete
functionality.

Currently, Wine HQ debian repo provides named repositories for: wheezy, jessie,
stretch, sid. See https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/debian/dists/
Please add one for "testing", so users of Debian testing wouldn't need to refer
to specific named releases.
Wine staging Debian repo used to do that, but now it's being deprecated.

Please provide wine stable packages named other than winehq-devel it will make
more easy to keep wine in stable release,would be possible to use only wine
stable instead of distro own old version.
Mageia have packaging policy only bugfix releases are allowed throught updates
and can't backport it needs more power than Mageia have right now.
Note this should done to all winehq repos not only Mageia.

The Fedora, Mageia, and Mac OS X repositories contain all packages that have
been built by WineHQ so far, and in the case of Fedora and Mageia, even have
packages for 1.8.1 (though they are inexplicably labeled "development"). The
Ubuntu and Debian repositories, however, only contain the latest development
and staging releases.
Why this matters: users who encounter a regression when they upgrade Wine need
to be able to revert to the old version until the problem is fixed. Keeping old
packages available makes this very easy, and since using the development or
staging release then becomes relatively risk-free, more users are likely to be
willing to test those versions. More users testing every release benefits the
project as a whole.
As for the stable release, while it's true our Downloads page only promises
development and staging packages, since we are apparently providing stable
packages for some distros, they should be provided for all.

Installed Wine via Ubuntu Gnome 16.04.2 software store. Ran winecfg. Tried to
install Quicken Basic 2007 (which runs in Wine on my other computers) but the
install crashes. The file "backtrace.txt" is attached.
I tried installing directly from the Quicken CD and, alternatively, copied all
files from the CD to the SSD and tried to install from there. Both fail in the
same way.
The file "backtrace.txt" first line states "assertion failed in 32-bit code".
I've previously installed 32 bit support for Linux. Is there a 32 bit support
that I need to install in winecfg?
Other suggestions?
Thank you.

Using Wine 2.12 I can load UnrealEd 3, open or create a new map, and
successfully run "Build all" from the Build menu. However, with Wine 2.13 this
now fails with the following outputted from the app:
```
Build UT2004_Build_[2005-11-23_16.22]
OS: Windows NT 6.1 (Build: 7601)
CPU: GenuineIntel PentiumPro-class processor @ 2893 MHz with 2047MB RAM
General protection fault!
<- (LIGHT APPLY) <- UUnrealEdEngine::Exec <- WPageOptions::BuildLighting <-
WPageOptions::OnBuildClick <- WEditorFrame::OnCommand <- WWindow::WndProc <-
WWindow::StaticProc <- MessagePump <- MainLoop
```
It seems to be specifically caused by the lighting build phases as I can run
any of the other build options just fine but both "Build lighting only" and
"Build changed lighting only" crash the app with the message above.
I'm happy to provide wine debug information if someone can let me know which
class/channel is likely to be most useful as "all" produces far to large an
output.
Note this is UnrealEd.exe provided by UT2004 Editor's Choice Editor from GOG.

Summary: Root Double only shows black window in new game

WINEDEBUG="warn+all,-xinput"
Root Double only shows black empty window in new game. Game doesn't freeze but
nothing is drawn. Default output doesn't really have anything except xinput
spam so I disabled it from log. Tested with wine staging 2.0rc2 and 2.0rc3 with
staging features disabled.
WINEPREFIX="$HOME/VN/wineRegista4" WINEARCH="win32"
WINEDEBUG="warn+all,-xinput" wine start 'C:\Program Files\Yeti\Root
Double\rwxe.exe' 2&>log.txt
I opened the game, skipped 4 splash screens and selected "New game" -> "Accept"
in menu. Then waited 10 seconds and closed it (Do you want to quit y/n).
