Well, on 1.7.38 "RA2 Yuris Revenge" runs (didn't in 1.6.2), but lately i've
seen some glitches (Mission transitions, when you lose, when i took a
screenshot), nothing directly gameplay relevant tough.
But after i installed wine-1.7-dbg the game didn't even start anymore
(something like "please insert correct cd/dvd"), not even showing any wine
command line output to work with.
I've tried some no-cd's, but like my original cnc-tfd dvd i used before they
didn't work.
Is there any point in opening bugs if i can only provide wine cmd output
without anything wine-1.7-dbg may add?
(Also, i had to use the ddraw.dll&aqrit.cfg override (Bug33211) to get both
working (Basegame RA2.exe and RA2MD.exe. RA2MD.exe failed when i removed the
dll))
Thanks,
Thomas

This file contains the bug back trace.
I downloaded Jade Dynasty from http://jd.perfectworld.com/ unpacked and
installed it by clicking on the install.exe file from its folder
¨JD_EN_Installer_v352_20120402¨
I followed forum guides on how to install the program. Configured wine to
emulate virtual desktop and to use my Display full resolution. Game installed
completely without any errors with wine.
After installation was over, I closed the set up window. Then I clicked on the
game icon from the desktop. The game client didnt start and I got the error
report, which is attached.
Thanks for all who take the time to fix these bugs.

The terminal output when trying to run the battle.net launcher
After updating from Wine 3.14 to 3.15 on Ubuntu, the Battle.net program doesn't
start anymore. The battle.net process hangs but the usual agent.exe hasn't even
started. It did work earlier today before the update so the Wine update is the
most likely reason.
When the Battle.net launcher program is started from the terminal, the last
error line is the following:
wine: Unhandled exception 0x40000015 in thread 2b at address 0x494f73 (thread
002b), starting debugger...
Tried to retrieve Program Error Details but it's gets stuck on the loading
message.
Did notice a fixme message where the loader redirects from L"wined3d.dll" to
L"wined3d-csmt.dll" even though the CSMT option is disabled in the
configuration.

Follow up to bug 31687.
You'll need native gdiplus for bug 31686. Optionally, apply
https://source.winehq.org/patches/data/105843.
The app installs fine, and with native gdiplus, starts up. But when you try to
login, the application cannot connect to the server.
Terminal shows one mscoree fixme:
fixme:mscoree:ConfigFileHandler_startElement Unknown element L"configSections"
in state 2
With native dotnet20, it will attempt to connect, then fails with 'This account
is not active'. Trying to login via the website shows the same problem, so
that's okay. But wine-mono should fail the same way.
I'm using an archived installer:
austin@aw25 ~/oldbugs/31687 $ sha1sum DYMOstampsWebSetup.exe
6f96fbdc9806effa499edba7e89329534b5901a7 DYMOstampsWebSetup.exe

the current version of the program appears to have other .Net/Mono issues

Install the app. You'll need native gdiplus for bug 31686.
After that, you can get native hid, for bug 31685. I also installed dotnet20,
to verify that it wasn't a mscoree fixme to blame, but the problem happens
either way.
Start it up, and it asks for your credentials. Put them in, and click next.
That gives an error:
The remote certificate is invalid according to the validation procedure.
terminal output doesn't show much relevant. Tried native wininet/winhttp, which
then in turns shows a few fixme's for crypt32/secur32/winsock.
If you add in native crypt32, you get:
Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that
other memory is corrupt.
and with native secur32 as well:
The requested security package is not supported.
Not sure what to try next. The initial problem seems to indicate crypt32 or
secur32, so hopefully this log will help:

The bugs we are currently working on are organized into Task lists.
Wine 2.0
These bugs are scheduled to be fixed before Wine 2.0 is released.

according to the winehq website 2.0 was released ages ago and the two current
versions are (Stable:Wine 3.0.1) and (Development:Wine 3.8)
My suggestion is remove it as obviously no has enough time to update with the
frequency that it as requires.

Currently it's possible to expand one log at a time to show not only the
failing lines but also the trace() output. It would be nice if we had a way to
see them all at once, though. Of course the user does get the full results
e-mailed to them, but the e-mail can take a while to go through, and also it
might be good if other people can get the full logs of a test they didn't run
(e.g. because it was linked to by the user.)

I'm making a tool to download Wine from FTP server. I've got a little surprise
when listing versions on your FTP server, all directories under
"ftp://ftp.winehq.org/pub/wine/source" are "perm=fle" (I can rename the
directory) and all files are "perm=adfr" (I can anonymously edit Wine on your
servers !).
I don't know if it's just a minor bug or a real huge security issue...

The TestBot jobs are split into steps and tasks.
* The steps are numbered and must be executed in order. Each step has an
associated file.
* Each step has one or more tasks which can all be run in parallel.
Typically the first step is the build step associated to the patch. It produces
the 32 and 64 bit executables for the following steps hence why it has to be
executed first. When it fails the other steps are skipped which is not the case
for the other steps.
So the general structure is:
Step 1 - patch.diff - Build
Step 2 - test_32.exe - One task per VM
Step 3 - test_64.exe - One task per VM
So one source of inefficiency is that the 64 bit tests cannot start until all
the 32 bit tests have completed. It does not necessarily make the overall job
execution longer but it can leave a VM host idle while it waits for the
remaining 32 bit tests to complete. And if a developer is watching the job's
page he will not know of 64 bit failures until then.
So while the build step has to come before all others, that condition should be
relaxed for the other steps.
The database schema presented in bug 39412 adds a DependencyNo field to the
Step table so that step dependencies can be made explicit. This would allow
making both test steps depend on build one. Note that with this scheme a given
step could not directly depend on multiple other steps but that does not seem
needed.
It would also make more explicit the fact that test steps cannot be run if the
build one fails instead of hard-coding that behavior in Jobs::UpdateStatus().

Product: Wine-Testbot
Version: unspecified

OS: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2

Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org

The Testbot integrates with Wine's patch tracking website by providing it with
the job id of the job corresponding to patches that impact the tests. This
makes it possible to automatically flag patches that cause new test failures on
Windows.
https://source.winehq.org/patches/
However when a patch modifies the tests of multiple dlls (for instance d3d8.dll
and d3d9.dll) the TestBot creates one job per dll. This cannot work with the
patches website which can only deal with one job per patch.
In theory putting all the relavant tasks would be doable since there should be
no collision between the test executables.
The reasons for the current situation are:
* The build step only knows how to build one 3é bit and one matching 64 bit
test executable. So in the d3d8 and d3d9 case it would be unable to create both
d3d8_test.exe and d3d9_test.exe.
* Each step in a job implicitly dependended on the previous step. So a failure
to build d3d8_test.exe would have caused the d3d9 tests to be skipped too.
However this special behavior was specific to the first step so without
modification a failure to build the d3d9 test executable in step 2 would likely
not have prevented the TestBot from trying to run the d3d9 tests.
However now the TestBot supports proper dependencies between steps. So it's
possible to have the d3d8 tests depend on the d3d8 build and the d3d9 tests
depend on the d3d9 build, and have both be completely independent.
There is also progress towards simplifying the build task which would likely
make it simpler to deal with building all the test executables in one task.
However this would cause all the builds to succeed or fail together because all
the other steps would depend on that one build step. So for instance if the
d3d9_test.exe build fails, no test would be run even if d3d8test.exe was
successfully built. That may be acceptable though since the patch would need to
be resubmitted anyway.

Currently the WineTestBot gets stuck when the connection to the libvirt server
on the VM hosts is broken. This includes cases where the libvirt server is
restarted, the VM hosts is rebooted or cases where there's a network outage.
The reason is that the Engine queries the status of the VMs itself in some
circumstances. This creates a TCP connection which is never recreated in case
it breaks.
The proper fix is to banish all such queries from the Engine: not just to fix
this issue but also because some of these operation can be long (a few seconds)
and block the main loop of the single-threaded Engine, which can in turn cause
the website to lag.

Sometimes a TestBot worker process can get stuck.
This can happen to LibvirtTool.pl, particularly when dealing with offline VMs.
But it can also happen to regular scripts like WineRunTask.pl when using
TestAgent to send or retrieve a file.
In both cases the TestBot Engine should have a way to detect stuck processes
and simply kill them.
To detect stuck processes add two fields to the VM table.
ChildStarted - The current child process start timestamp.
ChildTimeout - How long the current child process is allowed to run.
Most of our tasks already have timeouts so it's just a matter of reusing this
timeout and adding some leeway. For the revert and offline tasks we could use 5
and 60 minutes respectively. Then the Jobs::_CheckAndClassifyVMs() method can
check those fields and kill the stuck processes. This works because the
Engine's SafetyNet() method schedules jobs every 10 minutes as a fallback.
The reason for using two fields instead of a single ChildDeadline one is that
the ChildStarted field could be useful to know which period to analyze when
collecting the Munin statistics (currently we analyze an arbitrary period of
time that's supposed to cover the worst case).

I would like to attach a log file to a WineHQ post. The extension of the file
is ".xz" because I had to compress it to reduce his size : 91 Mo ------> 1.3
Mo.
But when I try to attach the file, a message apears "The extension xz is not
allowed" on the top, just below of the title "Post a reply".
So I can't send my log file to solve my problem with the help of others users.
You can see the discussion here :

Thank you,

choose the versions to display this how-to/note/warning.

In some cases the TestBot reruns a test (currently mostly in case of TestBot
error but this could be expanded).
When this happens the previous logs are simply discarded when the tqsk is
restqrted. It would be better to bundle up the old logs in a single file and
make them accessible through a 'Show old logs' link. This would let the
developer or TestBot administrator see what the error was and better diagnose
issues.

The TestBot sometimes does not always know which tests need to be rerun and
thus tries to run the test executable with no argument. This typically happens
in the following circumstances:
* When a non-C file is patched, such as a resource or JavaScript file.
* When a test file is removed. This case is actually similar to the previous
case where the non-C file is the Makefile.in file.
Note however that if there is only one test file this works anyway because in
that case the test executable just runs that one test by default.
I added some test cases for this in the TestBot test suite:

I am running a CentOS 7 system with an old wine version and I would like to
update to the latest official stable Version, but this version is not packaged
on any compatible EL7 repository.
I checked out the instructions on
https://wiki.winehq.org/Fedora
but I found that the guide starts at Fedora 22 while CentOS 7 is mostly
compatible with Fedora 19 and 20 and hardly with Fedora 21 because of Package
Dependencies.
I also checked out the recommended "RPM Fusion" Repository but I had to find
out that it only offers packages for EL5 and EL6 systems. It is not updated yet
to EL7 while effectively suffers from missing Packages that are not shipped by
RHEL.
So without the "RPM Fusion" Repository I checked out how many Package
Dependencies I have available from the required ones in the manual.
The Manual at
https://wiki.winehq.org/Fedora
requires 81 pendent Packages

Each VM has a long description of its hardware and software configuration. They
are meant to help developers figure out what's special about a specific VM and
how it may explain its results. The long descriptions can be found on the
test.winehq.org site by looking at individual reports information.
But they cannot be seen on the testbot.winehq.org site except by the
administrator when editing the VM configuration.
They should be visible as a tooltip/infotip in most places when the VM's name
is displayed.

If a task is completed the corresponding job's status is 'Running' even if none
or the remaining tasks is actually Running. So one can sometimes end up with
dozens of 'Running' jobs when only one or two among them actually has an active
task.
So the idea would be to reserve the 'Running' status to jobs for which one task
is actually running. Jobs where some tasks but not all have completed would
instead have the 'Partway' status (suggestions for another name welcome).
Another issue is that when multiple jobs are in the 'Running' or 'Partway'
state it's hard to know which ones have been modified the most recently because
the 'Ended' field is not set. This is probably less important though and a
waterfall like presentation would help (see bug 39413).

The ntdll:exception test causes the Windows 10 VM (w1064) to crash. Given that
this does not happen on real hardware it is a TestBot bug.
Incidentally this is why we don't get any WineTest result from that VM.
Either there is a way to avoid the crash by adjusting the QEMU configuration or
a QEMU bug should be filed.

Wine Staging 3.5 Test Results Unable to check Staging box
I just had a test result come in for "Wine 3.5-Staging". The version is set to
"3.5" without the "Wine-staging" box checked, and I can see why - you can't
check it! Please see the attached image.
Despite WineHQ claiming that it's discontinued, you can download it here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/wine_gaming/comments/88m1mz/wine_staging_35_releas…
This is a blocker for all test results submitted with Wine-Staging. I can't
accept these results as they list an incorrect Wine version (3.5 vs 3.5
staging) so accepting these results as-is would be lying about how it runs in
Wine 3.5. So what am I supposed to do, reject these test results?

At the bottom of the main page there is a list of the VMs and their status.
However the information there is incomplete:
* When a VM is reverting there is no way to know for how long it has been
reverting.
* When a VM is running a task there is no link to the corresponding task.
* There is no history of events so if someone reports that something strange
happened there is no way to check(*).
So it would be nice to have something like BuildBot's Waterfall display.
http://buildbot.buildbot.net/waterfall
(*) Actually one could check the WineTestBot log but that has its own problems
and requires poring over lots of traces. See bug 39410.

Enhancement:
Add "workaround" to the defined keyword list for open bugs, when one ore more
working workarounds have been found.
For Moderators:
The conditions for the workaround keyword to be valid would be:
- The workaround is documented in the comments or a reference is made to the
AppDB entry where the workaround is documented (or to an external source).
- The workaround is confirmed to be working at least for one person (not just
an hypothetic workaround).
- If multiple workarounds are discussed, the keyword is valid if one workaround
meets the above conditions.
Why the keyword?:
Other users affected by a bug would know that a workaround exists without
having to read all the comments to find out.
If someone has documented a workaround in the AppDB for a specific application,
and the bug is in fact affecting multiple applications, the keyword would
reduce the need to document the workaround in the AppDB for every affected app,
provided that the bug is properly referenced in the multiple AppDB entries.

The only reason It's worth mentioning is that often the latest version is the

A revert that would take under 10 seconds right after creating the snapshot
would take over 7 minutes 6 months later. So every few months this would cause
the TestBot to become really sluggish and barely able to keep up with the patch
influx. Restarting libvirt, rebooting the host, restoring the VM from backup or
even transferring it to another host had no effect on the revert time.
While the revert is taking place the QEmu process fully occupies one core, no
disk I/O is performed and the VM is not running. The exact reason is not yet
known exactly but it seems to have to do with the VM's timer devices,
particularly the rtc one.
To confuse matters further not all VMs are affected: only Windows 2000, XP,
2003, 2008 and 10 suffer from this. The other post Windows Vista are immune.
Yet the guest is not active while the revert is taking place so it should not
have an impact on it.
Finally at WineConf 2015 it was discovered that the revert time of a live
snapshot is simply proportional to the snapshot's age.
This yielded a first workaround which is to refresh the live snapshots
regularly.
Further investigation showed that the common point between the impacted live
snapshots is that they all have the following clock settings
<clock offset='localtime'>
<timer name='rtc' tickpolicy='delay'/>
<timer name='pit' tickpolicy='delay'/>
<timer name='hpet' present='no'/>
</clock>
while the unaffected VMs have
<clock offset='localtime'/>
But switching from the former to the latter does not fix the affected VMs.
Still this lead to a better fix which has now been put in place: setting
track='guest' on the rtc timer.
Regardless, something is wrong with the way QEmu handles timers and live
snapshots so a bug was reported:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/qemu/+bug/1505041
Maybe this will shed some light on what's really happening and what the correct
timer settings are.

Summary: Infinite revert loop
Product: Wine-Testbot
Version: unspecified
Hardware: x86
OS: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: unknown
Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
Reporter: fgouget(a)codeweavers.com
The current task scheduling algorithm can enter into an infinite revert loop
while trying to prepare VMs for the next tasks. Assume the following settings:
$MaxRevertingVMs = 2;
$MaxRevertsWhileRunningVMs = 0;
$MaxActiveVMs = 2;
Then the following sequence can play out:
| Steps
VM | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8
----+-----+-----+-----+-----+-----+-----+-----+-----
vm1 | rev | idl | off | off | rev | rev | rev | ...
vm2 | rev | rev | rev | idl | off | off | rev | ...
vm3 | off | off | rev | rev | rev | idl | off | ...
The issue happens in steps 2, 4 and 6.
The scheduler can shut down idle VMs to replace them with VMs that are more
appropriate for the upcoming tasks. This is what happens in these steps: it
decides the idle VM it just prepared is not what it wants after all, and thus
shuts it down and prepares another one.
The problem is it keeps changing its mind over and over and can never actually
start a task because there is always a reverting VM and
$MaxRevertsWhileRunningVMs = 0.
Another prerequisite for this scenario to play out is probably to have multiple
tasks have the exact same priority, so that their order is undefined. But
regardless, the scheduler should probably not be shutting down an idle VM that
has an actual 'pending' task.

I'm using Wrapper Wineskin 2.6.2 with Engine WS9Wine2.22. I don't get any
installed printers listed with any app I create on my 2017 iMac running Mojave.
This isn't a new issue in that the same problem existed in High Sierra before
the update. I tested all the engines and the only one that displays my printers
is 2.18. Problem, for some reason 2.18 has been removed from the list of
available engines. Please make 2.18 available again, and also, please fix 2.22
to show printers and also any future versions of the engine.
2.18 works good for me with the 3 apps I have created in that 2.18 and above
will allow the built-in help system for each app to function, but the printers
won't display as available in anything but 2.18.
Thanks for all you do!

It would be nice to have a graph of the VM revert times to verify that
everything is working fine (or conversely to get a better sense that things are
wrong and action is needed).
Currently the way to do so is to ask Alexandre for the WineTestBot log, run a
perl script on it to get a CSV, and import the CSV in a spreadsheet to graph
the data. That's pretty cumbersome and obviously does not permit regular
monitoring.
Providing per-VM revert time graphs, maybe using something like RRDtool would
be really nice.
But then one could argue that revert times should just be low and stay that way
and that then monitoring them may not be needed.

As we expand the number of configurations to test it seems wasteful to have to
create and maintain a brand new VM just for them. In a lot of cases all we need
is to slightly reconfigure a VM to add a CD image, add network interfaces or
change the locale and run the test with these changes settings.
That's where snapshots can be useful: take a snapshot for each configuration we
need to test and then let the TestBot start the VM from the right snapshot.
There is a catch though: while it's possible to run the tests in two VMs in
parallel, for a given VM only one snapshot can be active at a time. There's two
consequences:
* TestBot must know about snapshot and not try to simultaneously run the tests
in two snapshots belonging to the same VM.
* If in the base configurations (those all Wine patches run on) we have a VM
with ten snapshots, it means we will need to run the tests ten times
*sequentially*. That VM is quickly going to become a bottleneck. So we should
still limit the number of snapshots per VM, at least in the base
configurations.

The current build VM is based on Debian 7.0 which is pretty old.
It would be nice to upgrade it to Debian 8.0.
* This might solve some issues with the VM sometimes going dead after a
Reconfig job.
See: https://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-devel/2016-January/111059.html
* This would also get us a newer MinGW compiler. This would get us newer
headers, in particular for GetConsoleScreenBufferInfoEx(). Note however that
since this is a Vista+ API and the tests must still run on Windows XP it means
that specific API would still have to be loaded dynamically in order for the
test to be accepted in Wine. But it would make things easier for quick /
preliminary tests.

When a task fails it logs the failure into the WineTestBot log(*). The
WineTestBot Engine may also log issues into the log. Analyzing the log also
provides a way to figure out the evolution of the revert times.
But accessing the log requires having login access to the WineTestBot server
which the administrator may not have. So it would be nice to have access to the
log (or portions thereof) through an administrator-only section of the website.
(*) In the case of WineRunBuild and WineRunTask one will get most of that in
the corresponding task's log on the website, but that's not the case for
RevertVM for instance.

crash log
Two linux boxes with the same version of Kubuntu 16.04 LTS.
One one box I have wine 1.6.2 and installed Capella 8 => works fine.
Today on the other box I installed wine 3.0 (following
https://wiki.winehq.org/Ubuntu selecting stable).
On that second box any attempt to start Capella 8 causes a crash.

It is just a translation problem.
I am currently using Wine 1.1.18 simplified Chinese under ubuntu. Everything
works fine, but for the translation of word "Apply", it used the tradition
Chinese notation rather than simplified Chinese one.
Not a big problem however solving it can make this program better.

ReportedBy: ovek(a)arcticnet.no
Most of the Winelib programs in Wine, such as winecfg, contain this in their
English localization resource (En.rc):
LANGUAGE LANG_ENGLISH, SUBLANG_DEFAULT
SUBLANG_DEFAULT is 1, which for English, maps to SUBLANG_ENGLISH_US. This means
that the localization in En.rc is *only* selected in an en_US locale, *not* in,
say, an en_GB locale (unless no other fallback is found).
It would probably better if these files said
LANGUAGE LANG_ENGLISH, SUBLANG_NEUTRAL
so that if the user has a British English user locale (from LC_MESSAGES) and a
French system locale, winecfg will show up in English, not fall back to French.

This bug is the same bug as 41269.
===================================================
This bug was fixed in Wine greater 2.0.3 and was OK in Wine-3.0 a year ago.
But it is open again in Wine-3.19.
Scenario:
(1) A Windows app with version e.g. 3.1.7 is installed
(2) An new version of this app e.g. 3.1.21 gets installed with same UpgradeCode
but different Product- and PackageCode and with the directive
"RemoveExistingProducts" in the installation sequence BEFORE the new
installation.
PROBLEM:
The new 3.1.21 does not get installed automatically. In the installation
process the windows comes up again whether the former 3.1.7 should be Repaired
or Removed.
After Repair or Remove the former version gets uninstalled and the installer
terminates without installing the new 3.1.21.
BUT the installation of 3.1.21 needs to be started again.
Two years ago (Nov. 2016) we ran through a long and somehow painful discussion
and fixed the scenarion in Wine greater than 2.0.3. Also, Wine 3.0 worked fine.
But the bug is open again in Wine 3.19

Summary: Lithuanian translation of "Program files" and

causes problems with some software for Windows
Product: Wine
Version: 1.3.8
Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: shell32
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: mantas(a)akl.lt
In the Lithuanian of localization of Wine "Program files" gets translated as
"Programų failai", "Application Data" - as "Programų duomenys" and "Local
Settings" - as "Vietinės nuostatos" (see file shell32_Lt.rc) causes problems
with some software for Windows.
- This is inconsistent with localized Windows (Lithuanian version) behavior,
which ALWAYS uses the name "Program files", "Application Data" and "Local
Settings".
- Some Windows software doesn't find files in these folders, as translated
folders have accented characters "ų" and "ė".
Requesting to use these translations in /dlls/shell32/shell32_Lt.rc :
IDS_APPDATA "Application Data"
IDS_LOCAL_APPDATA "Local Settings\\Application Data"
IDS_INTERNET_CACHE "Local Settings\\Temporary Internet Files"
IDS_COOKIES "Cookies"
IDS_HISTORY "Local Settings\\History"
IDS_PROGRAM_FILES "Program Files"
IDS_PROGRAM_FILES_COMMON "Program Files\\Common Files"
I can attach a patch if you like.
Same localization error was with Dutch translation, look at bug #15844
Most other Windows localizations also don't translate these folders if
translations would have accented characters, look for example at Russian or
Ukrainian localizations of WINE:

In the Dutch localization of Wine, Program files gets translated as "Programma

I'm a Romanian ReactOS translator. (For those who don't know, ReactOS is an
operating system which seeks to be 100% compatible and similar to Windows NT.)
Many translations from Wine are passed to the ReactOS project when
synchronizing the source code.
That leads to the fact that I can't directly translate and/or update any
translation of ReactOS files that are in sync with Wine. Some translations are
already done here on the Wine project but some of them are wrong (For example
Basic colours is translated incorrectly as Culori de basă when the correct
translation is Culori de bază), others don't fit with the rest of the
translations (The translations of ReactOS should retain the terminology used in
Windows. In Windows, Cancel is translated to Revocare, in Wine the translation
is Renunţă which is the imperative form of the verb a renunţa - to give up).
I was told I should speak to you if I want to change these translations but the
problem is that many Linux distributions are translated in Romanian using
Renunţă as Cancel etc and if I try to change the translation in Wine, then
the Romanian Linux-users will strongly disagree ...
What should I do? Please propose a fix.

Currently, Wine configure script builds in all the translation languages by
default - for many of us it's wasted space and translations we don't want to
see (I have to run some applications with the ru_RU.UTF-8 locale to get correct
filenames).
Please, make it possible, e.g. via
--languages=en,en_US,lang1,lang2,lang3 ...
configure option to specify the list of translations to be built in.

Tried on Arch Linux with Nvidia 396.54.09, DXVK 0.90 and wine-staging
(3.18.r10.g616bf112+wine.3.18.r114.g417e94f199-1)
Same happens when trying to play on Win XP, Win 7 or W10.
As a note, game also doesn't launch properly - launches in the between of my
two screens and drops down resolution on one of them. But that's for another
bug report.
Other than that the game seems perfect.

of my home folder and now games like sonic heroes don't work as it now cant
find its resources similar thing with thcrap (touhou community patcher). Both

Backtrace and console output - Slackware wine 1.7.51
Hello everyone,
one member of the German ubuntuusers.de-Forum asked about the state of this
game and I gave the demo version a try which unfortunately crashed.
The demo version can be obtained from this URL. The link in the AppDB is no
longer valid.
http://www.4players.de/4players.php/download_info/Downloads/Download/44463/…
Is it due to my graphics drivers again?
Regards,
Maik

Summary: Lego Mindstorms EV3 1.3.1 installer crashes

Warning: winetricks has a recipe to install Lego Mindstorms EV3 as 'ev3'
however it installs a lot of unnecessary things like vcrun2005, ie8 and
dotnet40 and after that it downloads an old version of the software.
In order to reproduce this bug just download the installer specified in
URL field and run it. After initial unpacking and pressing "Next" the
installer crashes, and shows its own crash handler window with a backtrace.
Fortunately after the installer has crashed it leaves in the %TEMP%
directory full installation tree under "LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 Home Edition"
sub-directory. In order to reproduce further crashes and make the investigation
of the bug easier just locate in that directory tree MetaUninstaller.msi under
Products/MetaUninstaller/MU and run 'wine msiexec /i MetaUninstaller.msi'.
To make long story short: the crash is caused by silently failing "NIPaths"
custom action due to a failed MsiViewModify() call. MsiViewModify() failure
happens because of the check
https://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git/blob/HEAD:/dlls/msi/msiquery.c#l696
696 if ( mode == MSIMODIFY_UPDATE && rec->query != query )
697 return ERROR_FUNCTION_FAILED;
since for the remote MSIRECORD structures rec->query field always stays not
initialized (NULL). Commenting out this check makes both the MetaUninstaller
and Lego Mindstorms EV3 installations work, however this breaks the tests.
Probably one of our MSI experts has an idea how to fix this issue properly.

terminal output/backtraces
To reproduce the problem start the installer with Setup.exe, follow the steps
by clicking <Next>. When the installer is about to start copying the files, it
crashes with a backtrace which looks like some kind of heap corruption.
The attachment contains 2 different backtraces, the first one was produced in
Wine that was compiled with -O2 opt. level, the second one with -O0.
According to my testing the crash was introduced by
commit f920dfd6984ca9227900d0f0406afb3ceb892cc5

Date: Wed May 13 00:33:13 2015 -0600

The installer works properly with the previous commit (it just takes a very
long time to finish installation, but that was the same with previous versions
too).
