This is the same problem as Bug 2247, so this has been ongoing for years.
The appdb shows this app to be gold, but this simply doesn't work for me no
matter what I try, and the HOWTO workarounds don't seem related to the problem.
Tried a NoCD but this made no difference.
I can't find a demo for testing (without registering).

winetricks overrides ngen.exe as builtin-only. However, both the native
ngen.exe installed by the dotnet20sp1 installer and the PE builtin have the
same load address of 0x400000. The loader loads the native ngen first, and then
tries to load the PE builtin; the latter has to be relocated, but is compiled
without relocations.
I suspect the loader should be unmapping the native ngen before trying to load
the builtin one.

Upon startup, Lego Racers crashes when the "Lego Media" avi is supposed to be
played. This does not occur with the demo. I tested this with a vanilla .wine
folder, so there has been no chance for a native quartz.dll file to mess up the
registry.
I believe this is a regression, probably to be blamed on Maarten Lankhorst's
recent quartz improvements. :P
I don't have the resources to perform a regression test, nor did I test this
game with the previous version, so I don't know if the app broke then or now.

It’s not possible to get past the license agreement screen in the installer for
‘You Don’t Know Jack V1 XL’ from the ‘You Don't Know Jack Classic Pack’ from
Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00H7HR5N4/).
On step two of the installer, the license agreement is shown, with a checkbox
labelled ‘I accept the terms of this agreement’ and a ‘Back’ and a ‘Next’
button. Both the checkbox and the ‘Next’ button is greyed out.
It’s supposed to work like this (and does so on Windows): When you scroll
through the license agreement and get to the bottom, the checkbox become
available, so you can check it. When you check it, the ‘Next’ button becomes
enabled, so you can click it. Using Wine, the checkbox remains greyed out, so
you can never check it and continue to the next step of the installation
wizard. I’ll attach a screenshot.
Note that this problems occurs when running the actual installer,
YDKJV1XL_Setup.exe, i.e., *after* successfully downloading the installer
through Amazon’s downloader (which have its own problems, that can be worked
around).
The same problem also seems to occur with all of the games in downloadable
‘Classic Pack’, except for the ‘TV‘ version (which never displays a license
agreement). It looks like they all use the same installer.

in portraits, while dragging and dropping, in containers or while trading with
vendors, etc), works like a charm.
Downgrading to 4.19 fixes the issue. Also, I don't know what the policy about
mentioning wine-staging is in this bug tracker, but I tested with it as well
and it also works in 4.19 while it breaks in 4.20, so this seems to be a
mainstream Wine bug.

The game starts fine in fullscreen mode on the current stable wine version

On the current version of wine the game has issues when started in fullscreen
mode. When started it tries to go fullscreen but reverts to the desktop as a
black windows with glitched decorations.
Workaround:
One way to get the game started is to switch to a different (gnome) desktop and
back twice(!). Only then the intro starts playing and the main menu appears. It
should be noted by using this method it only gets me a maximized window with
changed screen resolution.
It is still possible to get the game into real fullscreen mode by doing the
above workaround, closing the game, not changing focus (aka not clicking
somewhere with the mouse) and starting the game again.
Command used to start the game:
taskset -c 0 wine Simpsons.exe

Description is simple, problem - not so much.
Let's take three windows:
- first is a random wine app 1
- second is a terminal window used to start random wine app 2 (but not a wine
window)
- third is random app 2
Now lets place those windows on top of each other in that order so that close
button of random app 2 is contained within the second window.
Now, let's press that close button.
What happens:
- third window closes (WASD)
- second window gets keyboard/visible focus (pretty much as above)
- first window doesn't get *visible* focus, but acts as if it had gotten mouse
focus (for example if random app 1 has a setting "pause while not focused",
it's getting unpaused) ... huh ?
That last part seems quite buggy...

a commercial cad application has commands that can read directly from named
pipe if file name starts with a '|'.
Example: open_infile '| /usr/bin/ls /tmp | grep pdf' read_file ...
This worked perfectly until wine 2.17 and wine-staging 2.18 (on Arch Linux),
then
stopped working due to bug 43217 and persists after the bug fix.

Warning dialogs on Android 10
Wine 5.0-rc2 APKs for ARM and x86 are built with a very obsolete SDK for
Android API Level 25 (Android 7.1) which is compileSdkVersion tag
Also targetSdkVersion tag appears to be below 23 as it doesn't ask for
permissions during runtime on Android 6.0+ and it asks for them on Android 10
at start (new security feature on Android 10):
https://developer.android.com/about/versions/10/behavior-changes-all#low-ta….
This is an attached image.
Besides during start a dialog appears warning that it is built for an old
version of android, also attached as image.
I have tested on an Android 10 AVD emulator with x86 CPU architecture. But also
have opened both APKs to check their compile and target SDK versions.
Furthermore it crashes after extracting files. This outdated packaging appears
to be the cause although android 10 includes some changes to NDK for all apps
even when targeting an old version what may be the cause:
https://developer.android.com/about/versions/10/behavior-changes-all#q-ndk
In conclusion Wine for android needs a deep upgrading.

It spews out a message box saying: "This program cannot be run with your
current monitor settings. Please reset your monitor to a minimum of 256 colors
before running Clifford."
In fact an 8-bit display device isn't necessary. What is necessary is for
EnumDisplaySettings() to return at least one device with a refresh rate equal
to the number returned by GetDeviceCaps(VREFRESH). Under normal circumstances
the latter returns 1, but the former may return e.g. 60.
The attached patch fixes this, and makes the game completely playable for me.

Bug ID: 46376
Summary: Touhou 10 on macOS 10.13.6 (High Sierra) may crash or
freeze on startup after Security Update 2018-003
Product: Wine
Version: 4.0-rc3
Hardware: x86
OS: Mac OS X
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
Reporter: andrewsuicune(a)gmail.com
When testing Touhou 10 - Mountain of Faith for the 4.0 release candidates, I
noticed that the game began crashing/freezing, mainly during Fullscreen. None
of the other games in the series I had tested recently exhibited this issue and
this particular installment had never done this kind of behavior. Worse, it was
difficult to replicate because a freeze during fullscreen mode required
forcefully killing the OS and rebooting the machine since all other I/O other
than hard reset are blocked by Wine.
Though this happened on 4.0 rc3, I went back to Wine 3.11 and tried it out
again. I was able to freeze the OS simply by selecting Fullscreen and doing
*nothing* but wait for the main menu.
On 4.0 rc3 Fullscreen, hitting the down arrow key on the "Press Any Key" screen
causes Wine to crash with the following:
wine: Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x1102983d at address 0x7bc40a7b
(thread 0061), starting debugger...
0061:err:seh:raise_exception Unhandled exception code c0000005 flags 0 addr
0x7bc406db
~~~~~
I have not classified this as a regression since every other Touhou game I've
tested has not exhibited this issue and since the game was working fine (afaik)
on 3.11 when I tested it way back then but no longer functions when I run 3.11
now, implying that something other than the Wine updates broke.
My suspicion is that something in the latest macOS High Sierra security update
broke something with the way Wine works with this specific application.
If possible, I'd like the following to be tested:
- First, if someone else can replicate the crash on Wine 3.11 using macOS High
Sierra 10.13.6 with Security Update 2018-003.
- Next, if possible, for the same to be attempted on macOS High Sierra 10.13.6
without Security Update 2018-003 (though this may be difficult or impossible to
do)
If the macOS update was what broke the game, then this is *probably* not a Wine
bug. If it's broken on Wine 3.11 and pre-Security Update 2018-003 macOS High
Sierra, then further investigation may be required as to why the game was
working fine back in June but no longer functions now.
Once the game is running (IE if you can actually get through the menus without
the game crashing/freezing), things seem to be fine from that point onwards,
though I am unable to definitively confirm this.
Crash report from Wine
Hey,
just before introducing the issue: I tested this on multiple machines (also
virtual containers) with various Linux OS types and so on.
---
Trying to set up a linux server running TheForest-DedicatedServer, I ran into
an issue. Whenever I start the C# application with Wine, it eventually crashes
with the log appended to this bug report.
As a consequence I tried some possible solutions (Editing the Linux TZ and
messing around with Wine's NT registry) which didn't work at all.
Searching the web this seems to be a common issue in the past, but eventually
got fixed as it seems (https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=37760).
Maybe I did something wrong?
Thanks in advance
You will need to click about in the settings a bit randomly and then wine will
start crashing like in the attached trace.
Maybe you will be able to reproduce by grabbing the binary from the below
self-contained, I don't believe there is too much left for it to get it
completely working.
Kind Regards,
Hi All,
I have to use Wine to burn DVD's as the native Linux burning software destroys
my hard drive. Seriously. Twice. If I was not been extremely adapt at
backup, I could have lost my business! See:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=468624https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=446086
Needless to say, I would appreciate this being worked on
When first opening Deep Burner 1.9, you are presenter with a dialog box asking
you what you want to do. If you select "Create data CD/DVD", it open the Data
window.
Problem: when adding files to the layout, you can only select one at a time to
get them to show up on the dialog. If you <Ctrl><Click> on multiple files, you
get nothing.
And they are not hiding either. I tried burning a DVD after multiple selects
that did not show up and I got a blank DVD.
The workaround is to do them one at a time. (A real pain in the neck.)
[the free] Deep Burner can be downloaded from:
http://www.deepburner.com/?r=download
Many thanks,
-T
Crescendo uses right-click context menus to access functions on certain
the context menu appears, and responds properly to mousing over simple items in
item with a sub-menu dropdown, the whole context menu disappears.
To reproduce: run Crescendo under wine. When it shows a new composition
d8827274480b0391ad200478b2ebe26a2658166d BeltBall v102.exe
Runs great on Vista.
It installs fine; to run it, to get past bug 21790 by doing
'winetricks vcrun2005'.
The next problem is a crash related to
d3dx9_36.D3DXAssembleShaderFromResourceW,
roughly bug 12020. Work around this with 'winetricks d3dx9'.
The next problem is that full-screen mode doesn't work (bug 21791).
Work around this by telling the game to run in a window.
Let the game start, then quit. It will crash after shutting down.
This affects all the demo games at that site, not just this one,
but the reported error seems to vary by game.
+relay is really slow, so I had to use
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\Debug]
"RelayExclude"="ntdll.RtlEnterCriticalSection;ntdll.RtlLeaveCriticalSection;kernel32.48;kernel32.49;kernel32.94;kernel32.95;kernel32.96;kernel32.97;kernel32.98;RtlAllocateHeap;msvcrt.isxdigit;KERNEL32.GetProcessHeap;msvcrt.isalnum;KERNEL32.CompareStringA;msvcrt.isspace;RtlAllocateHeap;msvcrt.isxdigit;KERNEL32.GetProcessHeap;msvcrt.isalnum;KERNEL32.CompareStringA;msvcrt.isspace;msvcrt.realloc;msvcrt.isalpha;msvcrt.??3@YAXPAX@Z;msvcrt.??2@YAPAXI@Z;msvcrt.isdigit;msvcrt.malloc;msvcrt.free;ntdll.RtlFreeHeap;KERNEL32.TlsGetValue;wined3d.wined3d_mutex_lock;wined3d.wined3d_mutex_unlock;user32.PeekMessageW;KERNEL32.GetTickCount;KERNEL32.lstrlenA"
to get a log of the end. (This was arrived at by starting the game,
quitting after ten seconds, analyzing the log with
tail -n 10000 log | grep Call|sed 's/(.*//;s/.*Cal| sort | uniq -c | sort -n |
awk '$1 > 200 {print $2}' | tr '\012' ';' && echo ""
adding that to the registry key, and repeating until the game ran
fast enough.)
According to the log I got, the game shuts down and all the dlls
(including ntdll) detach... then for some reason the game tries
to start again, and crashes very quickly.
Assuming you've got a computer A with the following files:
- use_mingw_dll.exe
- MinGW_DLL.dll
'use_mingw_dll.exe' was compiled to use 'mingw_dll.dll' all in lower case.
(file sources/ build script in the attachment)
You can run Wine locally on computer A with 'use_mingw_dll.exe'. Wine is clever
enough to load all the dll that the app needs even if the dll case may vary and
even if the local file system is case sensitive.
Computer A as a samba share defined to export those two files.
(smb.conf share definition in the attachment).
Now we introduce computer B, it mounts this share to mnt:
$ mount -t cifs -o username=mylogin //serverip/testdll mnt
If you try to launch 'use_mingw_dll.exe' it will failed as Wine behave now with
case sensitivity:
$wine mnt/use_mingw_dll.exe
err:module:import_dll Library mingw_dll.dll (which is needed by
L"Z:\\home\\mylogin\\tmp\\testdll\\mnt\\use_mingw_dll.exe") not found
err:module:LdrInitializeThunk Main exe initialization for
L"Z:\\home\\mylogin\\tmp\\testdll\\mnt\\use_mingw_dll.exe" failed, status
c0000135
Whereas 'ls' command recognizes correctly the dll with no case sensitivity:
$ ls mnt/mingw_dll.dll
mnt/mingw_dll.dll
$ ls mnt/mingw_DLL.dll
mnt/mingw_DLL.dll
$ls mnt/MiNgW_DlL.DlL
mnt/MiNgW_DlL.DlL
I have noticed this behavior on at least 3 different win32 apps and on the toy
example in the attachment.
(I'm on ubuntu intrepid ibex, samba 3.2 wine 1.1.16)
Strangely, if I put "case sensitive=yes" on the definition of the samba share,
Wine will work. Nevertheless, you'd better not set this option on yes when real
windows computer access the share. "unix extensions = no" option do nothing.
GUID in the log, maybe this is a XAudio2 issue, but not sure though. The
How I installed:
I installed native msxml6.0 before installation.
Added this reg:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\Direct3D]
"MaxVersionGL"=dword:00030002
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\OfficeSoftwareProtectionPlatform]
"KeyManagementServiceName="kms.mydomain.com"
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\DllOverrides]
"riched20"="native,builtin"
And runned installer.
The "reboot simulation" seems to be somehow lost as office program never
closes.
As KMS did not work, I tried to inform MAK key. It opens the activation wizard.
When I select to activate using internet, mso crashes.
It's really annoying, cumbersome and time consuming to make Wine use local
DLLs, e.g. Direct3D libraries by first running winecfg and then finding and
overriding the necessary DLLs.
Windows for as long as I remember has allowed to have a .local file (
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/dlls/dynamic-link-library-re…
) which makes the windows DLLs loader first search for requested DLLs/libraries
in the application directory then using system DLLs in case local DLLS are not
found.
Can we please have this feature implemented in Wine as well?
Summary: Mouse click-click-hold is treated as double click,
In Overwatch:
Pressing, then releasing, then holding the mouse button down should cause the
hero's gun to fire, then stop, then continuously fire for as long as the button
remains held (or ammunition runs out). When this is done quickly, the gun jams
after the second click, as if the mouse button was released, even though it was
not.
This bug occurs with both the left and right mouse button. It is easiest to
reproduce with heroes whose fire and alternate fire abilities are sustained
actions. Sombra is a good example, since both her machine pistol and her hack
ability have obvious visual indications when the game thinks a mouse button is
held down.
The bug does not occur when the click-click-hold is done somewhat slowly (maybe
half a second between clicks) or when the mouse position moves significantly
between clicks. In other words, it only happens when the mouse input resembles
that of double-clicking a widget in a desktop environment. I guess something
might be intercepting the raw mouse input, reinterpreting click-click-hold as
double-click, and reporting click-release-click-release to the game?
I tried altering the double-click timing and movement tolerance in both my
desktop's mouse settings and my window manager settings (xfce4), but it did not
affect the bug. I therefore tend to think the bug is in Wine.
I have just been updating SIV (http://rh-software.com/) to use Split Buttons
(http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa511453.aspx) on Windows Vista and
later systems. When I tested on Wine 1.1.29, after setting the Windows Version
to Vista, all of my calls DialogBoxIndirectParam() calls started failing and I
guessed was down to Wine not supporting these. I then searched the source for
BS_SPLITBUTTON and BS_DEFSPLITBUTTON neither of which are defined which I feel
confirms this.
Please can the addition of Split Button support be added to the list of planned
enhancements.
I have currently worked around this by not using then on Wine, even when it
announces itself as Windows Vista. I have also added a -SPLIT command line
qualifier to force their use and am happy to made a SIV 4.02 Beta release
available for testing should support be added before I actually release 4.02.
The Concept2 Utility has the ability to connect to a PM5 Monitor over USB. Upon
plugging it in, the utility discovers the monitor and displays a message saying
"Connected."
On Windows, Devices and Printers states that the drivers that handle the PM5
Monitor are hidusb.sys, hidparse.sys, and hidclass.sys, and it's described as
an "HID-compliant device."
When connected to a Linux system, dmesg also notes that it's an HID device.
I added a udev rule to change the MODE of the Monitor to 0666, which seems to
be working as far as I can tell.
However, when running the Concept2 Utility on Wine, the program does not detect
the Monitor when it is plugged in.
backtrace file from wine at crash
Running Cura (for 3D printing - developed in Python).
Cura is running very well under wine 1.6; manipulating models in 3D, slicing
the
models into GCode, saving the GCode to disk, etc.
Linux detects the attachment of the USB cable to the printer controller
(Marlin) at 'ttyUSB0', and Cura also acknowledges the connection has been made
- it changes a button of the GUI from 'slice' to 'print'.
When I click on 'print' a window is opened and at the same time another is
opened from wine reporting a crash (backtrace attached).
I have searched for something called 'qcap' which, to me, appears to be the
last code being run - but I can find nothing on it.
I am running Cura 14.01 from website: http://software.ultimaker.com/
With wine 4.21, when trying to close the upgrade screen, the game hangs. Game
still processes input to a certain amount. Lower right button text still
updates when you use inputs from the keyboard or from a controller. The upgrade
screen icon layout is different and some icons are missing entirely. I have
included examples of how it looks when it works and when it doesn't.
After a bisect with wine-staging 4.20 - 4.21 and another without staging
patches, the result turned out to be this commit
'ad96d9195e4b524a7bf8ea7250aa384ee07bca0a'.
Reverting the commit fixes the issue and the menu works as expected.
How to reproduce:
- Run the game with wine-staging 4.21
- Open the menu and browse upgrades
- Try to close the menu
- Game will remain stuck in the menu
When playing The Sims 3, your figures, objects walls, floors, cars, grass and
plants go either Black or have abnormal textures.
I have no idea what to post in the attachment, if you could please direct me to
what I have to then I will do so.
The only way to fix this is to set your texture details to the lowest possible,
though my Graphics card (GeForce 8500 GT) should be able to support highest
possible details, as it did on Windows.
Here is an example of what someone posted:
http://i43.tinypic.com/2mpwiuh.png
The couch appears to have some kind of outfit design on it.
Also, Shaders 2.0 don't work (in-game known as advanced rendering).
Apparently this is due to memory leaks, though when I applied memory leak
patches I still got the same results. (Which is
bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=20484
and bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=20483 - applied in that order).
compilation terminated.
The cause of these troubles is the addition of _WIN32 macro.
By adding it, some sources think to be under a pure Windows environment and
they try to include some files that do not exist inside a POSIX platform.
The solution is to remove this line from configure.ac:
https://github.com/wine-mirror/wine/blob/0fe003435e90dc32dd405a62af8fbcc20a…
After that, at least the configuration could be completed, although with some
restrictions.
Tested with latest sources from the repository at the time of writing.
Sincerely.
Tested in a clean 32-bit WINEPREFIX.
Thread/issue reference(s) for other users able to reproduce this issue:
* https://github.com/Winetricks/winetricks/issues/1280
* https://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=30883&p=123789#p123789
Both these users are on Arch Linux...
I'm on Gentoo and using gcc 9.1.0...
So perhaps gcc-9.1.0 is "optimising" these C blocks?
I'll test building Wine 4.12.1 with -O0 instead of -O2 ...
Regression: Since the last update on Fedora 29 to wine 4.9 the com ports no
longer work. I have the registry entry for ttyUSB2 linked and it stopped
working after the last update. The program is PUTTY.EXE but other programs
also do not work such as winlink-express. The message from putty is "end of
(Demo available at http://www.triumphstudios.com/ageofwonders2/files.html; it
installs quite painlessly.)
Note that Direct3D mode is the default for this game, but can be turned off
through the included configuration app aow2Setup.exe. However, when Direct3D
mode is not enabled, some graphical effects are disabled.
Multiple issues with Direct3D mode in Age of Wonders 2 demo; I'm not really
sure how related these are, but I'll put them together, I guess, since I'm not
sure separate bugs would be useful without any real idea of what is causing
these effects:
1. In-game repainting speed is unusably slow. (To get in-game quickly, press
the "Tutorial" button.)
2. There are graphical glitches in-game: for one very obvious example, use the
scroll wheel to change the zoom level, and all the UI on the bottom gets
painted over.
3. The "buy now" screen (accessible by clicking "Quit" on the main menu)
flickers severely.
I'm using Wine 0.9.50 on Ubuntu 7.10; I have an Intel Core Duo and and
ATI Mobility X1400, and I'm using the version of fglrx that comes with
Ubuntu.
Hello,
There is a regression introduced in Wine-4.18.
When you want to install Epic Games Launcher, Wine crashes when you click on
the install button (see screenshot).
Download the installer on Epic Store website and install by "wine msiexec /i
Distribution: ---
The sequence of events goes as follows:
1. ntdll loads the main executable,
2. which loads e.g. advapi32,
3. which loads kernelbase,
4. which triggers attaching of kernel32,
5. which, if the Windows version is lower than NT, loads krnl386.exe,
6. which loads and attaches krnl386.exe,
7. which calls GetCommandLineA(),
8. which returns NULL, since kernelbase has not been attached yet,
9. which causes a crash when krnl386 tries to dereference it.
The crash is silently caught, but I'm not sure that any given 16-bit
application still functions.
Most likely this will be fixed by moving more things to kernelbase; I'm filing
this bug just in case it isn't.
