I'm using UBUNTU 18.04 LTS with lates updates. I have successfully installed many other windows apps (.EXE) on wine and had some issues with them also. But i have not been able to install MICROSOFT OFFICE PRO PLUS X32 what-so ever. Anyway the driver even when loaded does not seem to help in anything as many pages of information are blank with or without it. There is a small time frame between service start call returning (state 'SERVICE_START_PENDING') and the driver service entry point being fully executed (state 'SERVICE_RUNNING') which causes the harm here. Immediately after the return from call to 'StartServiceA', 'PnkBstrB' service tries to open '\\DosDevices\\pnkbstrk_link' which fails because the device symlink is created in the driver entry point which is executing asynchronously. The problem is that the WineTestBot does not do a full recompile (for performance reasons), and thus libuuid.a is not rebuilt. So the comdlg32 relink fails because of the missing symbol. Unfortunately there's really no clear indication in the patch that libuuid.a needs to be rebuilt. We could very well run into the same issue with dxguid or a number of other dlls. Some options: * Systematically do a full rebuild. This would be pretty wasteful. * Do a full rebuild whenever the patch touches 'include/'. * Hardcode a list of uuid-like dlls and rebuild them all whenever a patch touches 'include/'. * Detect which uuid-like dlls the test links with (by parsing the Makefile?), and rebuild those whenever the patch touches 'include/'. The thread in question that ought to instantiate the COM object never explicitly initializes its COM apartment. >From my experience in 99% of the cases the developers forgot the call to CoInitializeEx() on thread entry and the reason why this works for native is the so called implicit MTA. Basically another thread in the process called CoInitializeEx(0, COINIT_MULTITHREADED), which means that the thread which forgot to call CoInitializeEx() was implicitly placed in the MTA (the app creates a crapload of threads). I had to change quite some code to make a proof-of-concept. On the terms of service (2nd page) the text is in Hebrew but selectingthe mixes its order, also the header (in read) are split in the middle by LRM for some reason... 3. The window is not RTL although I'm not sure it should be... This also demonstrates some of the typical problems with Hebrew. If this is considered as crazy nitpicking, there are other problems to which this bug can be converted to (i won't open new bugs yet until this one fixed and because possible duplicates may exists). "Remember list" unrelated to this bug report: * Cancel does not work under wine. WinXP asks you "Are you sure?" Yes/No. Yes button=exit. * Progress bar is always 100%. WinXP moves as the CD are changed. * When Setup.exe is run under Wow64, it immediately exits with some error code. Under 64bit Win8.1 Setup normally asks you for the serial number as usual. * Missing background images during the installation * Extra minimize button, which is not present on attached WinXP screenshot, makes wine dead. When clicked, popup window is hidden and you can't restore it back. As it is fullscreen, you can't click anywhere, nor Alt-Tab to get it back. My gcc 4.6.1 x86 host toolchain has -fstack-protector enabled by default hence Wine gets the stack canary code in the binaries. The Glibc here (Xubuntu 11.10) has stack smashing protection enabled by default. Even if Wine is built with "-fno-stack-protector" the app would still break glibc %gs TLS code. This is just a "collector" bug for apps that run into this issue. WONTFIX obviously, there is no reliable way to know when to repair/restore %gs value (and restarting faulting instruction). When this happens you are at the main menu. A few releases ago, I tested a new game and during the 'Stop the Bus' routine as well as the main menu and there was sound. Something happened. Check here: http://wiki.musl-libc.org/wiki/Functional_differences_from_glibc#Unloading_… Then, musl won't excute init(__wine_spec_init) function if a module is already loaded. That means load_builtin_dll() thought dll is loaded by the current thread since init function was not called, but actually LdrUnloadDll() destroyed them in another thread and nothing is loaded in the current thread. Load_builtin_dll() try to find wm in InLoadOrderModuleList but nothing. After that, app will crash. And I solved this by making LdrUnloadDll() a stub. Patch is uploaded as a attachment. I hope this could be added in official wine by adding a configure option, thx. I've not found any useful info on MSDN about a 32 KiB limit on winhttp chunk size. Maybe the MS guys who wrote the installer made some assumption about some underlying native winsock implementation limitation on Windows. It might be interesting to see what max. chunk size native winhttp reports to clients. My feeling is that the load / resource consumption of the system is the factor that makes the difference. When the load on the system increases the chances for a successful install are better. If the installer does not work, i start the Eclipse IDE, than it works most of the time.
