Anyway, at some point in future one should think about properly emulating kernel-level synchronization objects. It's not very hard to do. Wine doesn't need to follow/mimic the exact structure layouts for Windows kernel objects by design. The structs would just wrap native API synchronization objects and the actual sync APIs, such as KeWaitXXX, KeEnterXXX ... would call corresponding native NtXXX API (NtWaitXXX, ...). It's related to the StarForce protection driver, but not an actual copy-protection check failing. I tried running the StarForce protection driver update from http://www.star-force.com/support/sfdrvup.zip Note: sfdrvup.exe requires that some version of the protection driver already be installed. I had previously installed a game which uses StarForce under Wine. Unfortunately the way it was implemented results in considerable wait when drivers fail in entry point which is still very common for various (unsupported) copy protection drivers. This leads to a stall of WINEPREFIX bootstrapping when drivers have been configured for autostart. End users will be definitely confused because Wine appears to hang/freeze (with no visible user interface) when one or multiple drivers are failing. Along with some scary looking console messages.
