Even with a virtual desktop set, the app still launches full screen. Managed/unmanaged windows makes no difference as well. There's nothing especially notable about the console output, except a fixme "CheckTokenMembership". Always reproducible, and creating the registry keys referred to in the madExcept crash report doesn't solve the problem. Two facts to consider, unfortunately: 1) FL Studio 19 worked flawlessly under wine-staging-3.7, and I don't remember if FL Studio 19 or 20 worked under wine-staging-3.8, but one of them DIDN'T. If the main FL Studio window is maximized when you attempt to minimize it, it doesn't change size, but if it's not maximized the window is resized to a small square. The contents of the main window after attempting to minimize is an after image of what was rendered before minimizing, apart from a small section of the top left corner of the application (which is just a after image of the minimize button). If you change the size of the window in this state it shows a trailing/ghost effect (think IE6 effect) of whatever is behind the window, e.g. the desktop background. I set the severity to minor because it makes minimizing the window inconvenient, however there is a simple workaround: either use the keyboard shortcut for minimizing on the small label window, or click on the taskbar button/dock icon for FL Studio several times as necessary. FL Studio then properly minimizes. I've tested on elementary OS (Pantheon) and Fedora (GNOME 3) with Wine 3.4 and it happens on both. On Windows, when minimizing under normal usage you don't see this label, however if you rapidly minimize and restore FL Studio you can very briefly see it. With this in mind it might be that the label itself is normal behavior but it's supposed to immediately disappear or minimize. I attached the terminal log (with some notes). The window for it has the right dimensions and the effect itself still works. I can even load up project files from a windows machine that were preconfigured and they will work just fine I just don't have a UI for it (see attachment). I also ran fl in the terminal and this was the suspect line that popped up in the terminal when I loaded OTT: 002a:fixme:vulkan:X11DRV_vkCreateWin32SurfaceKHR Application requires child window rendering, which is not implemented yet! Short paths and/or filenames never fail that I can see (for example try both left or right clicking on "Rock moog_s" directly above the test link/file. Example: Add the Toxic Biohazard plugin using menu CHANNELS->Add one->Toxic Biohazard. Now save a preset using the synth GUI (slightly right of top center on the GUI): OPTIONS->Save Program, which calls up a standard Windows File Save dialog window. If I use the name "MyPreset", the extension ".tbio" is added with an additional semicolon, so that the resulting file name is now "MyPreset.tbio;". To clarify: it's not that an empty window appears or something like that. Instead, nothing appears except the initial pop-up dialog of FL Studio that informs you that this is a demo. The only thing that's visible is the task manager entry in KDE's task manager panel. When enabling "Emulate a virtual desktop" in winecfg, then the application shows up correctly. I'm using Wine 1.3.37 on Gentoo Linux AMD64, using the Radeon graphics driver (Gallium3D with KMS, Mesa 7.11.2 and also tried latest Git version.) It can be used to load plugins in a folder called "plugin database". The plugins can have images associated with them that show as thumbnails. A basic description of how this works: when FL is installed or first used a folder called "plugin database" is created (the default location is ~/Documents/Image-Line/FL Studio/Presets/Plugin database/). In either "Effects" or "Generators", for each plugin there is a set of 3 files: .fst, .png and .nfo. The .fst is a FL Studio state file and is the file that loads the plugin. The .png is the thumbnail for the plugin. The .nfo (which has the same name as the .fst) basically points to the image and probably all of them contain only "Bitmap=Plugin.png". On Windows, the plugin database folder viewed from FL's file browser only lists the .fst files (with the pictures shown as a thumbnail for the .fst file) and hides the actual .png files that are referred to in the .nfo. See "What it should look like (on Windows)" image attached. On Wine, the plugin database folder doesn't replicate this behaviour and lists the .png files alongside the .fst files. See "What it shouldn't look like (on Wine)" image. Steps to reproduce: 1. Download FL Studio (link at bottom of this post) and install it. Skip ASIO4ALL installation if it comes up. 2. Open FL. It will load a project file on first startup. You can either just stay on that or go to File > New (if there's no text, press F12 -> F3 -> n, if a prompt comes up press n again). 3. On the left is the file browser sidebar. Click the button that has a plug icon (the last button of three) at the top of that sidebar. 4. Click on either the "Effects" or "Generators" folders, and then click on one of the subfolders. The .png files will be in the list, which doesn't happen on Windows. Tested in a clean wineprefix. When wine (currently tried upto 1.7.39) is *not* compiled with the option: --without-xinput2 Then the full-screen mouse has a strange intermittent sticky/slowdown effect, on both horizontal and vertical axes. It seems like xinput2's pointer barriers are taking effect - the mouse gets some invisible resistance, and has to be "pushed through" the barrier with extra force. This is only an issue when wine is compiled *with* xinput2. Double-clicking on the "Databases" node to expand it produces the following error message (see below)... The databases can be acquired using the "Summary" window, and then the "Object Explorer" pane can be synchronized to the "Summary" window. Although a workaround exists, it is clumsy. Plus, a method so basic as expanding the connected databases should not create such an error. Incidentally, the error message is empty at first, and the message can only be viewed by clicking on the "Show technical details" button in the error log... =================================== Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Go to that directory, then run setup.exe SAPWD=Hello It will install MSSQLServer service and attempt to start it. The service will fail to start, and the installer will subsequently (after ca.2 minutes) remove all installed files. I managed to reproduce it faster via interrupting the installer before it has a chance to remove the service - after that starting any wine application triggers the bug. NtCreatePort is a part of undocumented Microsoft API called LPC.
