Output with the legacy renderer
Since 8.1.5 the game has 3 renderers dx11, dx11 legacy and a modern dx12
renderer.
With my amd rx480 it is impossible to use the dx11 modern multi-threaded
renderer to play. It results in single digit fps.
The single threaded legacy renderer works.
Based on comparing the attached logfiles the only obvious difference is

Hi,
I tried to open madTBG.exe, which is a free application bundled with madVr from
http://madvr.com. When I tried to open it I get an error with the following
message: "Creating madVR instance failed."
It would be nice to get this application to run, as it plays perfectly with
DisplayCAL and argyll-cms.

information output by terminal and the wine crash logging tool before and after
program crash
The video game Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion is installed in a wine prefix which is
shared with a steam installation and several other videogames.
This prefix is run exclusively with the 64 bit version of wine.
With the currently set dll overrides and winetricks modifications, and starting
with a wine version of 2.0 rc2, wine has had no problems running this game.
However, upon trying to run it after updating to 2.0 rc5, the game launches,
loads the names of the companies and a disclaimer about other engine components
they used, and then crashes prior to reaching the main menu.
I have attached the full output of the wine process when this occurs.
This regression is not present in the current wine-devel version.
All other video games installed to this prefix still function with no errors.
These games include: Fallout: New Vegas, Bioshock, Mass Effect 1, Mass Effect
2.
I have installed several windows DLLs using winetricks, and several others were
installed by steam during game installation.
This is a list of installed DLLs (as listed by winetricks and winecfg) and
their override settings (from winecfg), if set:

mwo was toggled a few times with winetricks, but is currently set to default
behavior
all of this was set manually, and no recipes were applied with winetricks
I attempted to record more information about the crash at the direction of a
user on the #winehq irc channel on freenode using the environment variable
setting 'WINEDEBUG=+relay,+tid,+seh' however adding +relay changed program
behavior from crashing to hanging.
At that point, user told me to post bug here

Summary: null pointer in wined3d_palette_set_entries with
Diablo GOG

WINEDEBUG=+d3d wine Diablo.exe
The game "Diablo", appdb-link: [1] crashes on startup due to a wine_d3d error.
Steps to reproduce:
1 Set the wine configuration to Windows 10, virtual desktop 800x600, to make
the installer work.
2 Run the GOG Diablo installer,
'wine setup_diablo_1.09_hellfire_v2_(30038).exe'
3 Then in the game directory, run 'wine Diablo.exe', to launch the game.
After launching the game, the Blizzard logo successfully shows on screen.
Immediately after the logo animation, wine crashes.
The crash looks like a null pointer, excerpt below:
Backtrace:
=>0 0x7c52d82e wined3d_palette_set_entries+0x3e() in wined3d (0x0032fc38)
0x7c52d82e wined3d_palette_set_entries+0x3e in wined3d: movl 0x0(%eax),%ecx
The attached log with WINEDEBUG=+d3d show wined3d_palette_set_entries is first
successfully called multiple times before the null pointer crash. The logs are
from a clean wine prefix. The crash is reproducible 100% of the time. I had to
run wineserver -k after the crash to launch the game again.
This crash differs from the other startup bug registered for the same game [2],
which crashes in storm.dll as opposed to wine_d3d.

Wine output when loading a map
It seems there was no bug report concerning that yet, so i tested it with Wine
1.1.20 and it still crashes when the game tries to load a map.
The game requires multiple buffers, so i used fbo as OffscreenRenderingMode,
otherwise it doesn't load at all.
Now that fbo is used, the game loads, but crashes when loading a map, i've
attached the wine output.
I suppose this isn't enough to find the problem, so if other debug channels are
needed to find the problem, please ask and i'll do it.
Thanks in advance.
