Cygwin in version 3.5.4 or later relies in having the WriteQuotaAvailable
member of a NtQueryInformationFile(FilePipeLocalInformation) query
to be non-zero.
This causes mintty.exe not being able to show the bash.exe output
when running in wine.

Summary: Drag and drop is not working in Delphi based
applications
Product: Wine

The drag and drop does not work inside applications that are based on Delphi by
default anymore.
For example, when using HeidiSQL, I'm not able to move entries in the
connection session manager into a folder to organize my connections.
WORKAROUND:
It is working, if i select "Windows XP" in winecfg, but not working for example
for "Windows 10". So it seems that the drag and drop feature got lost at later
"windows versions". On a real Windows 10 machine it works without any problems.
Might be related with "gdiplus_winxp" -> see other Delphi applications with the
same problem:

The problem can be seen in the attached video: headers on the first tab are
first displayed correctly (and are clickable), then they get overdrawn slowly
which makes them non-clickable. Usually, the second tab does not have this
problem, and some actions trigger the header buttons to be redrawn, but they
get overdrawn again at once. I tried to nail down the problem by vastly
expanding RelayExclude to the 500 topmost function calls, an excerpt of the
resulting log is also attached. No fixmes or warnings come up.

Summary: TortoiseSVN does not run under Wine

I note that Winscp (winscp.org) is able to display TortoiseSVN menus in the
local file window when running under Windows, but not when running under wine.
Here is how I invoke winscp under wine:
WINEDEBUG=fixme-all wine "c:/program files/winscp/winscp"
Background:
WinSCP is a very nice GUI front end for Subversion (svn). You can read about
it and download it here: http://tortoisesvn.tigris.org/
TortoiseSVN should not be run across a network when the Icon Overlays feature
is enabled.
http://tortoisesvn.net/node/138http://tortoisesvn.net/node/267
However, TortoiseSVN's icon overlay feature is one of the program's major
assets.
I want to use Cygwin's xterm to connect to the samba server that holds the svn
checkout directory and use Wine to run TortoiseSVN locally on that server. The
user would be presented with a nice visual representation of the state of their
checked out Subversion project, and performance would be good.
On Windows, TortoiseSVN can display its icons in any file chooser window, and
in Windows Explorer. I have also found that WinSCP's explorer view will show
icons for the local machine.
I would prefer not to have to run WinSCP in order to view TortoiseSVN icons.
Perhaps a tiny Win32 program that merely shows a file dialog would be
sufficient to run in an xterm, if Wine would support whatever system calls
TortoiseSVN makes.
For me, and many other programmers and IT personnel who work in a mixed
Windows/Linux environment, Wine would be much more useful if there was a way to
run it under Wine. Might it be possible to extend winefile with whatever it
currently lacks in order to allow TortoiseSVN to run?

Screenshot of how the game looks with the new WoW64 mode
I'm testing the "classic" version of KOTOR 2 (not the 2015 remaster from steam)
and I noticed a strange behavior.
When building Wine using the new WoW64 mode, the game has visual artifacts in
the character creation screen, and freezes when trying to start a new game.
When building Wine with the old WoW64, the game works correctly.
The first game, based on the same engine, works correctly with both versions of
WoW64.
Tested on:
* Arch Linux x86_64, Kernel 6.12
* AMD Radeon RX6900XT with Mesa 24.3.3
* KDE Plasma on Wayland (wine is running with the x11 backend)
I'm attaching screenshots of Wine 10.0-rc5. Logs don't show anything out of the
ordinary or different between the two builds.

Installing MSYS after MinGW on windows sets things up so that the existing
MinGW install integrates with MSYS, whereby /mingw from the MSYS shell points
to the MinGW install.
First download:
wget
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/mingw/MinGW-5.1.4.exe?modtime=1209244789&b…
run MinGW-5.1.4.exe with all defaults.
Second download:
wget
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/mingw/MSYS-1.0.10.exe?modtime=1079444447&b…
run wineconsole cmd (required because Wine doesn't launch a console window like
windows does)
MSYS-1.0.10.exe
Answer the defaults to the prompted questions on the console window before the
installer finishes (it pauses there)
wine cmd /c c:\msys\1.0\msys.bat
Typing 'gcc' in the msys terminal echos "sh: gcc: command not found", whereas
on windows it says gcc.exe: no input files.
On windows within msys, `ls /mingw` lists the contents of C:\mingw, on Wine
/mingw is empty.

Updating a msys2 installation via "pacman -Suy" fails in below way.
This is a result of the parent process doing a DuplicateHandle with
PROCESS_QUERY_LIMITED_INFORMATION and inheriting this to the forked process.
This fork tries to recreate the mappings of the parent but fails
the VirtualQueryEx call with this inherited handle of the parent process.
It does fail because in wine it leads to a call to get_process_from_handle
with PROCESS_QUERY_INFORMATION which the handle was not created with.
msys2 does intentionally use PROCESS_QUERY_LIMITED_INFORMATION instead
of PROCESS_QUERY_INFORMATION with DuplicateHandle on windows 8.1 and up.

Additionally, although this is an issue that I couldn't manage to bisect due to
how inconsistent it is, is that ever since Wine 9.22, the moment it hits the
stage of "Initializing external monitoring..." during loading, Vegas may freeze
Wine, causing me to have to SIGKILL every process manually. It may provide an
assertion of the following: "Fatal glibc error: pthread_mutex_lock.c:460

Unfortunately, I don't think I can provide good reproduction instructions as
Sony Vegas 13 is paid software, although I think the installer may have a
trial.

ColdSteelSubs transparency code (currently not in the distributed application)
This application provides a transparent clickthrough overlay to show English
translations on top of the original Japanese source.
It relies on layered windows and DwmExtendFrameIntoClientArea to handle the
transparent display.
Currently, the main UI elements show, but the game (or any other application)
does not show through. This seems to be because DwmExtendFrameIntoClientArea
is only a stub. I'm not sure if that's the only reason it's not transparent,
but it's at least one of the reasons.
The program itself uses the unity3d engine along with some native dll calls to
the relevant user32 apis to handle the transparency.
I was able to get a copy of the relevant code (but not the whole application),
of which I will attach.
Since I can't get all of the code, I've been using an unity sample application
to try to figure out some parts myself (the relevant code is here
https://github.com/pheonise/Unity3D-Desktop-Overlay/blob/master/Assets/Scri…).
This unity3d application works as expected on windows, but is not transparent
via wine (as expected). When i comment the call to
DwmExtendFrameIntoClientArea, then it its also no longer transparent on windows
as well.
It seems that if the sample application works, then I can make sure the dev
applies to the same technique to the overlay application.
Please let me know If i can provide any more information.

Summary: Git for windows installer freezes at the last step

The git for windows installer freezes at the end. The computer beeps when the
window is clicked. The window does not react to the X to close, but it does
react to the minimize button. Afterwards the window can not be restored again.
The installer did install the needed files, as VSCodium did gain git
capabilities.
To reproduce:
Download git for windows:
https://github.com/git-for-windows/git/releases/download/v2.43.0.windows.1/…
$ rm -rf ~/wine-tmp/
$ mkdir ~/wine-tmp
$ export WINEPREFIX=~/wine-tmp
$ cd ~/wine-tmp
$ cp ~/Downloads/Git-2.43.0-64-bit.exe .
$ wine Git-2.43.0-64-bit.exe Now the installer starts. Accpet the defaults.
Now the installer does it's steps, and stops at "Running post-install script".
When I ctrl-C in the console, the bash promt returns, but the installer window
remains. The computer beeps when the window is clicked. The window does not
react to the X to close, but it does react to the minimize button. Afterwards
the window can not be restored again.
Console output:
[cedric@cedric wine-tmp]$ cp ~/Downloads/Git-2.43.0-64-bit.exe .

running wine cmd
When attempting to run the `msys2_shell.cmd` script from MSYS2, Wine fails with
a syntax error: `Syntax error: unexpected IN`. This issue occurs during the
batch file parsing phase.
1. Download the MSYS2 base archive from the following link:
```
https://github.com/msys2/msys2-installer/releases/download/2024-12-08/msys2…
```
2. Extract the archive to a directory, e.g., `Z:\msys2\msys64`.
3. Navigate to the extracted directory:
```
Z:\msys2\msys64>
```
4. Run the `msys2_shell.cmd` script with the following arguments:
```
msys2_shell.cmd -here -defterm -no-start
```
5. Observe the error:
```
Syntax error: unexpected IN
```
The `msys2_shell.cmd` script should execute without errors and launch the MSYS2
shell environment.
Wine fails with a syntax error: `Syntax error: unexpected IN`.

Notes to reproduce, a backtrace in cygwin/wine.
I tried to check if bug #19858 is still an issue.
Unfortunately I hit a rsync call which fails:
$ rsync -aq --delete-before dir-a dir-b
rsync: [Receiver] Failed to dup/close: Socket operation on non-socket (108)
rsync error: error in IPC code (code 14) at pipe.c(157) [Receiver=3.2.7]
rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (0 bytes received so far) [sender]
rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(231)
It looks like rsync forks a child process, and the child tries then to close
the derived socket, which cannot be found in closesocket/socket_list_remove.
This seems kind of similar to bug #54995.

Currently, Wine on Linux is strongly dependent on X, and when used with the
desktop environment with new Wayland display server, Wine is forced to run
through XWayland, which so far remains a poor experience.
The whole Linux desktop is now strongly pushing the switch from X to Wayland,
and many major applications are now in the process of enabling this switch.
Is there some plan for such effort in Wine? Is it even feasible? I couldn't
find any bugs opened for it, so I'm opening one here to track this.

Dear Maintainers,
According to https://gitlab.winehq.org/wine/wine/-/wikis/IRC Wine uses Libera,
but on Bugzilla, the part which reads “If in doubt - visit the forum or IRC to
ask for help.” still links to Freenode.
Best,

Hello,
Wine 8.14 is the latest version that actually gives me audio. I'm not using
ALSA nor PulseAudio, only OSS, as usual.
I know there were changes on the audio part by Davide Beatrici, on the Wine
8.15 Wine Announcement :
[...]
wineoss: Update device cache in get_device_guid().
wineoss: Export get_device_guid().
wineoss: Remove GetEndpointIDs.
[...]
I don't know if this causes my OS to not offering sound anymore.
Since Wine 8.15 (and up to Wine 8.20), I still see "wineoss.drv" as my selected
driver and all my pcm just as it should but if I press "Test Sound", there's no
sound played and no error displayed in my terminal.

Allow user to set WM_CLASS via his environment
Hi,
The name of the executable is currently used as the WM_CLASS set by winex11.drv
however this doesn't work reliably in cases where the executable name is the
same, e.g. I have a few windows games on my system where the executable is
simply named "game.exe", leading to one game being associated with another's
icon in GNOME's running applications panel.
I can get around this problem by using a symlink but that approach isn't ideal
- in the case I tried I also had to create a symlink for another directory
located in the directory where the exe was located.
I've enclosed a patch that allows the user to specify WINEWMCLASS in his
environment and have wine use that value as an alternative to the default
behaviour.
Let me know what you think.
Thanks

Sample program that demonstrates bug (source)
I'm using a dummy scroll (as in
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/oldnewthing/archive/2003/07/31/54601.aspx) to update
the scrollbars in my custom Windows control when necessary. In my test program,
this happens before the window is shown for the first time, and in wine, my
error checking code triggers because the ScrollWindowEx() call fails with
ERROR. This does not happen on real Windows; it instead returns NULLREGION.
The attached program creates several configurations that attempt to reproduce
this issue under different circumstances. On wine, I get
ScrollWindowEx() before ShowWindow(nCmdShow): ERROR
ScrollWindowEx() after ShowWindow(nCmdShow) and ShowWindow(SW_HIDE): ERROR
ScrollWindowEx() after only ShowWindow(nCmdShow): SIMPLEREGION
On Windows XP 32-bit, Windows 7 32-bit, and Windows 7 64-bit, I get
ScrollWindowEx() before ShowWindow(nCmdShow): NULLREGION
ScrollWindowEx() after ShowWindow(nCmdShow) and ShowWindow(SW_HIDE): NULLREGION
ScrollWindowEx() after only ShowWindow(nCmdShow): SIMPLEREGION
I can't find anything pointing to this use of ScrollWindowEx() being wrong... I
also do not know if any other scroll functions are equally affected.
I am running wine-1.7.28 from the Wine PPA on Ubuntu GNOME 14.10.
Thanks.

Wine winhlp32 supports that, but the popups (at least for some HLP files)
appear with scrollbars even when scrollbars are not needed, i.e. when all text

if the popup is small. If you click one of the scrollbar buttons the scrollbars
disappear.

did appear in the previous version of either Winamp or wine (I'm not sure) but

used to be a workaround for this bug posted in wine's app database, but it got
deleted.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Install Winamp, making sure that the transcoding tool and/or the ReplayGain

This is a long standing issue that occurs using the Compiz window manager.
Easy enough to trigger.
1. Open table and be seated
2. Change workspace so you can no longer see the table, and wait for the
application to alert you that its your turn.
3. Return to the workspace the table is supposed to be on and you will find it
has disappeared.
The application is definitely still running, and the table window is definitely
still active (you can here the alert sounds and cards being dealt)
When I came across this issue initially, it didn't occur when using metacity as
a window manager.

The game plays tolerably in Linux (once you figure out to click the 'X'
icon on the left bar to get fullscreenish mode)...
but if you play badly and lose, the game over dialog that pops up
is not drawn properly. I'll attach a saved game; to reproduce
the problem, load the saved game (File / Load), then click on
the two "3" tiles. The game over dialog will pop up.

Summary: LVM_SUBITEMHITTEST fails on Chinese and Japanese
Versions of XP
Product: Wine
Version: 1.3.3
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: comctl32
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: austin.lund(a)gmail.com
In the test_hittest function for the listview test the following test fails for
the Chinese and Japanese versions on the test bot:
/* subitem returned with -1 item too */
x = pos.x + 150;
y = -10;
test_lvm_subitemhittest(hwnd, x, y, -1, 1, LVHT_NOWHERE, FALSE, FALSE, FALSE);
The failures read:
listview.c:3056: Test failed: Expected -1 retval, got -2
listview.c:3056: Test failed: Expected -1 item, got -2
listview.c:3056: Test failed: Expected flags 0x1, got 0x4
This basically says that the message returned -2 (undocumented ?) and set the
flags to LVHT_ONITEMLABEL.
Is y = -10 relative to the control client area or the parent window? How can
you be on the item label in either case? Should the above values be added as
successes to this test?

output of two failed runs
This I strongly suspect is a regression, yet I can't really pin down the time
when this started happening. The problem happens with little to no human
interaction, yet the timeframes make it unreasonable to actively reproduce.
I suspect it started around 10.0 release, but with a -/+ 2 months margin (so
close to useless).
Anyway, what's the problem ?
If Realm Grinder is run for long enough (but 'long enough' here is measured in
*days*), it tends to eventually either freeze with a completely black window or
crash with an X server error.
The attachment has output of two such runs, second chunk is when it just froze,
the first when it crashed.
'fixme:d3d:swapchain_blit_gdi Using GDI present.' at the end of both seems to
be the moment the problem triggers.
It seems to be some kind of a resource leak, but it doesn't affect any other
apps running besides it, not even those run by wine.
No user action is really required to trigger this - I've seen it freeze after a
desktop switch, I've seen it crash when the window was just displayed, but not
really interacted with.
(Realm Grinder here is still at v4.2.27.0, though I'll likely update it shortly
for Easter event)

A listbox widget in Wine does not react the same way to keyboard input as in
Windows.
In Windows, you can type the first characters of a word and the cursor will
jump to the first item matching *all* the characters you typed. This allows you
to drill down quickly to the item you want.
In Wine, when you start typing it only considers the *last* character you typed
when looking for a match. On listboxes where you have lots of items starting
with the same character, this can make it problematic to drill down to the
correct item.
This may be better explained with a simple example. Suppose you have a listbox
with the following items, sorted alphabetically:
* AMBER
* BLUE
* BROWN
* GREEN
* ORANGE
* RED
* YELLOW
Windows behavior:
* if you type "B", it will drill down to "BLUE"
* if you type "BR", it will drill down to "BROWN"
* if you type "BRO", it will drill down to "BROWN"
Wine behavior:
* if you type "B", it will drill down to "BLUE"
* if you type "BR", it will drill down to "RED"
* if you type "BRO", it will drill down to "ORANGE"

Clicking out of the window and into again (getting focus again) and the

There seems to be a pattern depending on the field, some trigger the problem
each time I leave them with TAB, some never do.

I would expect to see 2-4 temperature sensors listed for the CPU and
Motherboard listed in the Sensor Status window. Instead there are no entries at
all. The exact names of the sensor will vary based on the computer's specific
hardware.
It can be accessed by clicking the following buttons:
Start>Sensors>CPU[#0][CPU NAME]
The values I am expecting can be found using `lm-sesnors` and `watch sensor`
The values are also available via `cat /sys/class/thermal/thermal_zone*/temp`
FYI: As of Wine 9.0 you need to downgrade from windows 10 to windows 7 in
winecfg in order to get past the landing window.

On both GNOME and KDE Plasma, the latest Live 12.1 window does very weird
things with it's main window. What I can best describe it as is, for some
reason it stretches itself down vertically by what's seemingly the size of what
would be the title bar of the application. When running Live with window
manager decorations / control enabled under Wine configuration, this causes the
application window to bounce up and down very rapidly, bringing most of my
machine's CPU time with it. This makes the whole application practically
unusable.
When running on a virtual desktop, the stretch-up-and-down-sorta movement does
not happen, however, with the main window stretched downwards, mouse clicks and
things respond a few pixels off vertically, and the application is not usable
in this state. Interestingly, the same doesn't happen on Live's subwindows,
such as the settings window or anything else really
Prior to Live 12.1.5 this could be mitigated by using a hotkey to make Ableton
run full screen. With recent Ableton updates this doesn't seem to work anymore.
Note: disabling HiDPI mode in Live's settings doesn't make the problem go away
Note: dxvk had to be installed on the prefix so that non-main windows aren't
rendered black (this should probably be reported in another bug)
Tested on Live Trial 12.1.10, download URL is

When running cmd with `wine cmd`, the shell run Wine's cmd.
But when I press "Backspace" on the keyboard to delete the previous character,
the Wine's cmd instead display "^H" instead of delete the character.
The terminal emulator I'm using is `xterm`, which use "Backspace" control
character (\x08) instead of "Delete" control character (\x7f) as the Erase
character.
Terminal output
```
$ wine cmd
Microsoft Windows 6.1.7601
Z:\home\huupoke12>aaaa^H^H^H
```

video showing the bug
The free VST plugin Plogue sforzando always lags one animation frame behind
what it should be. I believe this might only happen with NVIDIA GPUs, as the
issue does not occur on my laptop (radeon driver) or in VirtualBox. Please see
the attached video for a demonstration of the bug.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Download and install Plogue sforzando: https://www.plogue.com/downloads.html
2. Launch "sforzando x64" from the application menu.
3. Click on the tabs and keyboard keys.
ACTUAL RESULT
The GUI always displays the preceding frame generated by the application, but
not the current frame, making things appear laggy/unresponsive, etc.
EXPECTED RESULT
The GUI should update as soon as I click on an interactable element.

If you try to assign an animated cursor to a static control, the animation is
not played. Instead, it works fine on Windows XP.
To verify this defect, you can use the test program "AniTest.zip" from this
page:
https://jira.reactos.org/browse/CORE-16344
It just shows the first frame and then it stops.

"""
TCoolMenu::Create is the function that creates the menu, it requires

The WndMain.cpp is heavily cut, and it just shows how the window

No relevant log messages.
Note: I have not tried compiling & running the attached source; if someone

Clip Studio Paint (ver.19.11) crashes when accessing fonts on wine-staging 5.9
You may ask "why not use the latest 5.12 version?" and that's because ver 5.9
is the last version Clip Studio Paint opens on. in version 5.12 it wont boot,
as it immediately page faults. using a 32-bit wineprefix does not solve the
issue, nor does it occur naively on windows.

--- snip ---
Wine builtin 'tasklist' and 'findstr' are stub apps that return exit code 0 -
regardless what was passed in (because they do nothing as of now).
This gets propagated through cmd.exe exit code to caller (GetExitCodeProcess).
cmd.exe -> 0
findstr.exe -> 0
tasklist.exe -> 0
The problem is that Windows 'findstr' uses inverted logic.
Match -> exit code = 0
No match -> exit code = 1
Wine 'findstr' always returns 0 hence the installer takes this a process list
match and complains.

30 WINE_FIXME("\n");

32 return 0;
33 }
--- snip ---
It shouldn't be too hard to implement a minimal string/pattern matching.
Another way is to change the default behaviour to "no match" (return 1).
I'm not sure if it breaks apps that currently depend on stub "match" behaviour.

It would be nice if wine had .desktop shortcut files for "winecfg" and "wine
uninstaller". These two are the most useful applications bundled with wine.
This way users will know about them.
Ubuntu has this by default and they are placed in the wine menu.
Also, a default icon for wine would be nice (placed in /usr/share/icons or
/usr/share/pixmaps).

FSViewer 75 pencil colour bug
FSViewer75
Wine55 with wine-mono
Current behaviour:
When using the drawing tools, such as rectangle, lines, etc. it is possible to
select the colour of the contour.
There is no issue, but with PENCIL
Whatever colour you pick, PENCIL stays black.
Expected behaviour:
Like under Windows, pencil colour must apply.
Very strange that only pencil is affected by this bug.
Attached:
Video to illustrate the issue

$wine YahooWidgets.exe
After the Yahoo! widget engine is install the first time it runs it asks you to
accept the EULA, which will not show... This is kind of hard to explain but its
like the yahoowidgets.exe does open, and you can mouse over the area and you
can click the "I accept" button and it will the go to open the widgetengine
(from what i breifly saw it worked fine)
