Mounting a network drive isn't supported no, but note that your program
would also exit on a Windows machine that is not part of a domain.
That said, Samba allows you to mount Windows network drives, it's just
that Wine is not (yet) integrated with Samba so that it's possible to
mount network drives by calling Windows APIs.
You may still be able to trick this app by returning success from the
API that is supposed to mount the network drive. Then setup a Samba
mount by hand and use winecfg to assign the expected drive letter to
the mount point you created.

Unfortunatly there is little information on this issue as there is no error
output from WINE at all.
When running winamp full 5.x and trying to bring up the media library, either by
hot key or by context menu, does nothing at all. There is no error output or
anything at all on the command line and the program its self continues to run as
normal, except that the Media Library item in the context menu does not get
checked.

logon dialog box does not appear. I've done some testing with changing to native

Now I've gotten a similar error running the office installer under Gentoo with
the same user directory mounted via NFS from the Mandriva server.
I have the setgid bit set on the /home/mso2k directory. I'll try unsetting
the setgid bit on all the directories.
This problem is very reproducible on the Mandriva side.
Now, we do run LDAP authentication here. So what I've tried today was to use
the getent passwd, getent group and getent shadow commands to copy the
entries which pertain to the mso2k user into the plaintext authentication
files. Still with this same strange result.
I'm being very careful to insure that I'm not starting these commands as root.
Today when running Wine 0.9.6 on the Gentoo box, the install went much
further, this time many of the font files ended up being owned by root.
I have two ideas left to try...
I'm going to remove the setgid bits from the /home/mso2k directories.
I'm going to own the origin directory from where the installer is run over to
the mso2k user.

As requested, this is a list of all imported functions from advapi32.dll
As to what happened after recompiling wine-0.9.9: the installation program
runs, but couldn't mount a network drive from a windows domain. So the
installation exits. I'm afraid this cannot be resolved by simply adding more
stubs.

A side note: Fractal Mapper will use "Windows Script" and the mfc42 DLL. To
use other parts of the program, these needs to be installed, as well as the
Arial TTF font. But this particular problem is not affected by the installation
of these additional DLL:s. It neither gets better nor worse.

Summary: Fractal Mapper: fill patterns get wrong
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.9.
Platform: PC
URL: http://www.nbos.com/products/mapper/mapper.htm
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: wine-kernel
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: goeran(a)uddeborg.se
I'm trying to get Fractal Mapper from NBOS to run under Wine. It is mostly
running, but using fill patterns fails.
To reproduce:
1. Download Fractal Mapper 7 trial version from
http://www.nbos.com/download/FM7Trial.exe
2. Install: wine FM7Trial.exe
3. Start: wine Mapper7.exe
4. Select some pattern as "Fill Style" (a pull-down menu at the far right of the
third panel). For example "Floor, gray"
5. Select the rectangle tool (second item in fourth row of "Standard Tools".
6. Make a rectangle in the drawing area.
The content of the rectangle is not a correct pattern fill, but just some
strange color combination. A certain fill pattern seems to give the same color
combination all the time, different fill patterns give different patterns. But
not the correct pattern.
The bmp file containing the pattern looks correct. They are found in the
FillPatterns directory under the installation. Doing something like
display "Floor, gray.bmp"
(using "display" from ImageMagick") shows the pattern correctly.

Hi Tytus, i tried the app as well and it indeed crashes. Just before the crash i
see:

0012:Ret kernel32.GetVersion() retval=c0000a04 ret=7d8e15b7
trace:seh:raise_exception code=c0000005 flags=0 addr=0x7d8e1470
and then the crash.
retval=c0000a04 means win98, if i change that into 0x08930005 (win2000) in
GetVersion the crash is gone, but the app stops somewhere in updating Gameguard,
whatever that may be. I just think the application cannot run on windows98, so
needs at least win2000, and then it's just a duplicate of bug 3947. Do you , by
any chance, know if this is a "win 2000, or higher"-only game?

Summary: Virtual Felix (animated cat) causes high CPU-load and
flicker of taskbar
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.9.

OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: P2
Component: wine-binary
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: winehq(a)richardneill.org
Virtul Felix is a (free) animated cat for Windows and Mac, designed to play
around on your screen. He is a bit like Neko (from the KDE-toys Amor package) in
this respect. However, when activated, as he walks over the taskbar, it causes
repeated refreshes of the taskbar beneath, causing the taskbar and Felix to
flicker, and using 100% of the CPU.
Felix2.exe may be dowloaded for free from here:
http://www.catslikefelix.co.uk/index.asp
You have to register, log in, and then click "Get Your own Felix".
I know that this application is hardly a high priority, but I do know of a
certain cat lover who would be very well disposed to penguins if it could be
fixed. Thank you!

Cancel this, it has no sense, since patched/unpatched 2005-x-x versions differ
only in that minimal change in module.c, thus all other builtins are equal.
It seems uxtheme.dll could be involved after all.

Version 2005-10-19 without patch contains this dll load:
trace:loaddll:load_builtin_dll Loaded module L"c:\\windows\\system32\\uxtheme.d

version 2005-10-19 with the regression patch does not load this dll, and does
not show the crash.
All other dll loads are identical.
current version (0.9.9) also shows the bug, and also loads the uxtheme.dll
builtin. In addition, it loads
trace:loaddll:MODULE_LoadModule16 Loaded module "mmsystem.dll" : builtin
However, it is not said that uxtheme.dll is to blame, as all builtin dlls could

Last remark: the bug seems to be in this line in /dlls/ntdll/virtual.c:
if (header_size > st.st_size) goto error;
I've put a few extra traces there and saw header_size=4096 and st.st_size=3584.
I'm not familiar with the code , but i guess st.st_size is the size of the file
(CpuDetect.dll has exactly this size) and header_size is the size of the header.
Does that give a hint to a solution? (removing the line makes the app start
fine, but that's not a solution i guess)

Ok... I managed to get the program installed. Wit hte instructions that one of
you gave me. One problem. Excel Locks up on Start. Can't use it period. It
appears that the problem that I had was when I created the .wine directory.
Instead of the wine program creating it. I used winecfg. winecfg does something
different then wine and as a result the program didn't install.
However Excel is still crashing. But now with the new version of wine not even
winetools works. Something to do with IE. It can't install IE at all now. I had
one heck of a time getting DCOM98 to install. I had to blow away my entire .wine
directory and install it using winetools just to get it to install.

Could you try renaming file into all lowercase?

Version: 0.9.9.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED

Priority: P2
Component: wine-x11driver
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: guy(a)corbaz.org
The problem arise when I started to lauch the application called "Forestia
Junior". In could install the program without any problems, but trying to use
it, it requires a color depth from 32 t0 8 which failed. The message I got is
the following:

fixme:xrandr:X11DRV_XRandR_SetCurrentMode Cannot change screen BPP from 32 to

fixme:font:WineEngRemoveFontResourceEx :stub
I check my X11 config, and the configuration with 256 colors (depth 8) is
activated.
I'm not sure it is a bug: maybe I did a mistake somewhere.
Thank you for your help.

Louis, do I understand you right that I should test it on 0.9 instead of 0.9.9?

oh, and moreover, it starts up fine in wine-0.9 so this needs regression
testing. Axel, are you able to do this? And could you check if full version
works fine in Wine-0.9 as well? (btw i disabled sound)

Please do not close this bug that fast. The demo from the website above shows
exactly the same bug. This:
cd ~/.wine/drive_c/Programme/Port\ Royale/
wine 'C:\Programme\Port Royale\PortRoyale.exe'
doesn't help right here, although CpuDetect.dll is in the directory. Somehow
LoadLibrary fails. I'll attach log hereafter.

Thanks for trying. Since it only happens on my machine, I guess I'll
have to do a little more debugging.
BTW, the oci.dll problem is just because you don't have
the oracle client libraries installed; see bug 4802.
