I hope to do a rightful thing.

Ok, here I am again, sorry for the delay.
It took me a lot, since I assumed the problem was post-0.9.2, but
I must have remembered wrong.
The problem lies between Wine-20050930 (works) and Wine-0_9 (evil bug).
I am now trying to single out the offending modification.

I would like to add a related note:
with latest CVS wine, I get a similar error with
Warcraft 3 - The Frozen Throne
Trying to start the single player campaign game.
The error:

This error breaks the single player game experience completely, so I thought
you'd like to know.

I kinda figured that. Any idea why changing to Unsorted would fix it anyway,
though? I can repeat the problem over and over with YXBanded, but it works fine
with Unsorted. Could it be one of the other parameters conflicting somehow?

I managed to get it to work by changing the last parameter in clipping.c from
"YXBanded" to "Unsorted", but Alexandre Julliard says that we need to keep the
YXBanded status:
http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-devel/2006-February/044976.html
He also referred to the code in dlls/x11drv/region.c as the reason for that.
I haven't noticed any strange screen artifacts by changing it to Unsorted, but
it's not the "correct" method. Here's the Xlib progamming manual on the topic:
http://tronche.com/gui/x/xlib/GC/convenience-functions/XSetClipRectangles.h…
Here's what it has to say on the last argument about clipping rectangle sorting:
"If known by the client, ordering relations on the rectangles can
be specified with the ordering argument. This may provide faster
operation by the server. If an incorrect ordering is specified, the X
server may generate a BadMatch error, but it is not required to do so.
If no error is generated, the graphics results are undefined. Unsorted
means the rectangles are in arbitrary order. YSorted means that the
rectangles are nondecreasing in their Y origin. YXSorted additionally
constrains YSorted order in that all rectangles with an equal Y origin
are nondecreasing in their X origin. YXBanded additionally constrains
YXSorted by requiring that, for every possible Y scanline, all
rectangles that include that scanline have an identical Y origins and
Y extents."
So, we need to figure out exactly why that parameter is crashing this app.
I'll attach some logs, too.

ReportedBy: jave27(a)gmail.com
While running Quickbooks Pro 99, WINE would crash every time I changed
an existing transaction and clicked "Next" or "Prev", then answered
Yes to save changes. It gave the following error:
X Error of failed request: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)
Major opcode of failed request: 59 (X_SetClipRectangles)
Serial number of failed request: 83724 [<--- that number changed
every time]
Current serial number in output stream: 87435 [<--- that number
changed every time, too]
The line it was crashing on was in x11drv/clipping.c:
XSetClipRectangles( gdi_display, physDev->gc,
physDev->org.x, physDev->org.y,
(XRectangle *)data->Buffer, data->rdh.nCount,
YXBanded );

I have just upgraded to Fedora Core 5 test 2 (X.org 7 RC4) and WinRar doesn't
work here :( BTW, I can't seem to find that specific FC only patch which makes
WinRAR malfunction - it looks like that patch has been integrated into X.org
source tree.
It's a damn wrong situation indeed.

I have a problem with a game (Ultima Online) that is probably related to this.
There is a small 'loading..' dialog that pops up when it is loading, but is
supposed to dissapear when it is loaded but never does.. In wine, this dialog
stays on top of all other windows (which makes it pretty much unusable).
Cedega has the same problem, but the dialog is not always on top so this is
what I currently use. I'd rather be using wine, as it seems to be faster than
Cedega, and is overall a better thing for the community. (;
I have a screenshot if you'd like.

Hello,
I guess this is a simple bug.
Open topdraw, open the shape window pressing "Shapes Tools" in the floating
toolbar. This happens also if you cover and uncover this tool window. Maybe
this is related to some missing redraw message or some incorrect redraw order.

Trying to install python-2.4.2.msi from
http://www.python.org/ftp/python/2.4.2/python-2.4.2.msi
with wine's msiexec fails (0.9.8; nothing else installed, .wine directory
produced by having called wine once). The installer starts up, but terminates
with the message "Python 2.4.2 setup ended prematurely ..." after passing
through some pages of the dialog (I chose "install for all users" and accepted
the defaults for the remaining options). I started the installer by
WINEDEBUG=warn+all wine .wine/drive_c/windows/system32/msiexec.exe -I
python-2.4.2.msi 2> msi_error.txt
I hope you are able to reproduce this. I am using Linux, Debian sarge/i386
2.6.15. Using the Microsoft installer, I am able to install Python without problems.
All the best! Ulf

Family Search's Personal Ancestral File 5.2.18.0
Wine 0.9.8 - Ubuntu Linux - Gnome 2.12.1
After selecting 'File-Print Reports' a small window pops-up with the message
"Please enter a positive integer". Clicking OK 13 times removes the error window
and brings up the correct multitabbed window where report content is selected.
A long string of "fixme:richedit:RichEditANSIWndProc ..." messages are generated
by this action.
BUT selecting any of the tabs brings up the same pop-up error message. Clicking
OK removes the error window. This action generates a string of
"fixme:richedit:RichEditANSIWndProc ..." messages.
Clicking 'OK' 'Close' or the close window [X] button generates an endless string
of the same pop-up error message.
One must kill the program to exit. Apparently there are no additional wine
messages displayed in the terminal window in the attempt to exit the report
function.

Updated wine this morning
There is improvement here. ;-)
Now I can successfuly add an individual and edit the data. I'm not able to tell
if the add was truly successful because any of the 'Individual' selection tools
crash the program (bug 4344). At any rate the add individual screen looks
presentable - all the data can be read onscreen - much better. On running the
program I still get the same "fixme" messages that I have in the past.
I will update 4344 also I'm going to add another bug concerning PAF Reports

I will attach another patch in a minute. It is completely different as it rather
corrects the cause of the problem: unaligned 32bit reads that step over the
boundary.
Thank you very much for taking the trouble of testing, it is essental. I tried
to reproduce it here, but the application that I found that uses this function
failed to show the screen corruption that you saw. It also does not show the
crashes that you see.

This is a windows game but the patch he is referrin to is a dos patch. I would
definately try the dos emulator for running the patch, and see if that works.
IIRC, no no-cd patching programs that open up a command prompt in windows work
under wine, although the ones that have an actual dialog box that you click a
patch button work fine. In this case, though, I think it should be a wontfix,
since there are many other much better dos "compatibility layers" out there.
