It seems to be related to DLL load order again. Can you provide two +loaddll
trace logs so we can compare them and see the difference?

It was because it had no vendor assigned to it not because its name was too long.
Changed it vendor to [Freeware] and now you can find it using just TresEd or
trespasser.

Just resize the earth window and the bottom navigation thing. I have wincfg set
to Enable a Vertual Desktop at 1024 X 768. You can change this and the tools ->
options to make it bigger/smaller.
One more thing: let it do it's loading thing w/o clicking on anything. IE, the
activeX thing comes up, leave it alone until the "initializing" thing is throug
hand then click no.

Summary: wine and all fellow programs break after setting to
anything other than 24-bit
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.5.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: wine-tools
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: me(a)benmassey.ca
When I enter winecfg, disable 'desktop double buffering' on the Graphics tab,
and set colour depth to 32-bit, 16-bit, or 8-bit, it becomes impossible to open
any Windows program with wine or even winecfg itself. The only remedy is to wipe
out all the registry files and start anew.
After I do this, the following error message results on the console when I try
to open winecfg or any Windows program with wine:
X Error of failed request: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)
Major opcode of failed request: 1 (X_CreateWindow)
Serial number of failed request: 13
Current serial number in output stream: 14
This message is constant regardless of the colour depth chosen.
I am running Slackware Linux 10.1 with KDE 3.4.2 on a Celeron 1.0GhZ with 256
megabytes of RAM and an ATI Radeon video card that's fairly old, but
unfortunately I can't remember the number.

Summary: viewportExt changed after call to StrokePath
Product: Wine

Platform: Other
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-gdi-(printing)
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: tobi(a)die-loews.de
After a call to StrokePath the ViewPortExt is changed.
The reason is the call
"SetViewportExtEx(dc->hSelf, szViewportExt.cx, szViewportExt.cy, NULL);" in
line 1784 in "path.c", as it calls implicitely "MAPPING_FixIsotropic" which
changes (at least in my case) dc->vportExtX. (There is also the hint in MSDN to
call SetWindowExtEx before SetViewportExtEx).
A solution could to set the viewport and windowport explicit (without a call to
SetViewport/WindowExtEx).

AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: kimmo.sundqvist(a)mbnet.fi
In eMule 0.46c the text field that is used for entering keywords for a search
will frequently come to a state where a blinking cursor is displayed, but
keyboard input has no effect on the contents of the field.
Clicking with the mouse cursor on the text field has no effect. Keyboard input
still does nothing. Clicking on the button at the righthand end of the field,
having the label "6" will clear the field and allow keyboard input.
Sometimes the blinking cursor won't appear until the button marked "6" is clicked.
Switching to another tab on the eMule window and coming back to the "Search" tab
will return the input field into a usable state.

Summary: Potential metafile NULL-pointer dereference

A(n im)properly crafted wmf file can cause a NULL-pointer dereference if it
contains a META_ESCAPE record with GETPHYSPAGESIZE or GETPRINTINGOFFSET, in a
similar way to GETSCALINGFACTOR (which is currently filtered out).
Part of me thinks META_ESCAPE should be filtered out completely since it looks
like a few of the remaining Escape codes can reference potentially
un-allocated memory if given (purposely) mis-crafted data, and it also calls
ExtEscape for unknown Escape codes, which grabs the DC pointer and calls its
ExtEscape callback, if existing.
However, I'm not sure how metafiles work with META_ESCAPE, and they may or may
not need some of the Escape codes to work properly. If that's the case, then
someone with more knowledge should find what codes are valid and only call
Escape if it's one of them.
Here is a patch to prevent potential NULL-pointer dereferences in
dlls/gdi/driver.c, and modifies dlls/gdi/metafile.c so it doesn't do a
redundant check for GETSCALINGFACTOR.

We asked you to rm -rf ~/.wine because you had a bunch of native dlls that were
messing up your wine install. If you once again rm -rf ~/.wine and *don't*
install any native dlls, winecfg will run just fine. Marking as invalid.

Hi again.
To enable CUPS-Support in wine, you need to recompile with "libcupsys2-dev"
installed.
To enable a printer from "/etc/printcap" in wine, CUPS must fail
(compiled without CUPS or libcups.so not found) and you must add in
"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\Printing\PPD Files"
a String with your Printername as the String-Name and
the unix path and name of your PPD-File as the String-Value.

Hi.
OK. No Demo available, but:
-ISS is a shortcut for what?
-VFP9 is "Visual FoxPro"?
-Is a Homepage for ISS available (so we can create an AppDB-Entry)?
Regarding to yout logs:
winspool should print this:
trace:winspool:CUPS_LoadPrinters loaded libcups.so.2
Is it Possible, that you compiled wine without CUPS?
=> grep -i "cups" include/config.h
"libcupsys2-dev" is the Package on Ubuntu.
I think, we should first bring wine_cvs with VFP9 to the level where
VFP7 was on wine_20050310 (does print, but print-results are not correct).
Having your Printers in wine is first, then PrintDlgExA and so on.
For the Issue with PrintDlgExA, you can use a native "commdlg.dll" with
an DLL-Override. (winecfg -> Library)
I do this help in my spare time.
If ISS@VFP9 is critical for you, you my want to try "Crossover Office" or hire
CodeWeavers (http://www.codeweavers.com/) to get Profesional Support.

Hello,
we are trying to find solution for the ISS printing. We are using 'alien' test
machine mentioned by the bug reporter Peto. So, on this machine is installed
wine 20050310 - original Debian Sarge installation. For printing tests we are
using: "virtual printer" configured in CUPS as: Device URI:
socket://localhost:12000, name: to_file. Print requests is handled via simple
port listener in Perl. Additional printers are scx4100 and xerox_230.
The printer 'xerox_230' is default.
When we tried to print on the 'xerox_230' from ISS, this messages are shown in logs:
trace:winspool:GetDefaultPrinterW L"xerox_230,WINEPS,LPR:xerox_230"
trace:winspool:GetDefaultPrinterA 0x0000000a/0x00000104:L"xerox_230"
trace:winspool:OpenPrinterW (printerName: L" xerox_230", pDefault (nil))
trace:winspool:OpenPrinterW Can't find printer L" xerox_230" in registry
As you can see, printer name is " xerox_230" not "xerox_230". This name(with
space) is also in customized print dialog (Wine 200504 -dosen'print, but printer
visible -screenshot), but NOT in the default system dialog for printers
configuration. winspool driver uses correct name:
trace:winspool:OpenPrinterW (printerName: L"xerox_230", pDefault (nil))
We tried to make simple workaround by defining the printer ' xerox_230' in the
wine's registry (keys are copy of 'xerox_230'). Now logs is different:
trace:winspool:GetDefaultPrinterW L"xerox_230,WINEPS,LPR:xerox_230"
trace:winspool:GetDefaultPrinterA 0x0000000a/0x00000104:L"xerox_230"
trace:winspool:OpenPrinterW (printerName: L" xerox_230", pDefault (nil))
trace:winspool:DocumentPropertiesA (0x10042,0x1, xerox_230,(nil),(nil),0)
trace:winspool:OpenPrinterW (printerName: L" xerox_230", pDefault (nil))
trace:winspool:GetPrinterDataExA (0x2, "PrinterDriverData", "PPD File" (nil),

warn:winspool:GetPrinterDataExA Can't open subkey "PrinterDriverData"
err:psdrv:PSDRV_FindPrinterInfo Error 2 getting PPD file name for printer '

trace:winspool:ClosePrinter Handle 0x2
trace:winspool:DocumentPropertiesA (0x10042,0x1, xerox_230,0x489c0b18,(nil),2)

trace:winspool:GetPrinterDataExA (0x2, "PrinterDriverData", "PPD File" (nil),

warn:winspool:GetPrinterDataExA Can't open subkey "PrinterDriverData"
err:psdrv:PSDRV_FindPrinterInfo Error 2 getting PPD file name for printer '
xerox_230'
Missing PPD file, ok so we added [ppd] section to the wine's config:
[ppd]
"generic" = "/tmp/generic.ppd"
Next tests was made on 'to_file' as default printer, because we have no local
access to the xerox_230.
Printing from wine's notepad is always succesful without errors. Command:
WINEDEBUG="+winspool" wine "c:\\windows\\notepad.exe". Also when we changed
printer in the system dialog, no error messages was generated.
Now ISS/VFP9 is able to print without errors in logs, but output are only lines
without text. When we tried to change printer in ISS, no action was made and no
errors or warning was in logs -- printer is still cups default.
When we tried to change windows type for ISS from 'nt40' to 'winxp' or
'win2000', no printers are available in the ISS customized print dialog and this
line is repeated in logs:
fixme:commdlg:PrintDlgExA stub
System dialog for printer configuration works fine from ISS application.
Best regards

Or something similar.
Well, I'll finish the testing.

It's most likely stack corruption that gets masked by the relay trace. Probably
a buffer overflow, especially since the fault address 31303635 looks like ascii.
Try disassembling a few instructions before the crash and look for API calls.

Debian Sarge, GNOME.
The installator of myODBC has buggy output. When executed, the window is blank.
Only when You switch to underlying window (terminal, for example) and back, text
and buttons are painted. When You click and do steps for installation, You must
"envisible" it everytime by clicking to underlying window and back.
The buttons are active even if invisible -You can click if You know the exact
location ;o)
This was not the problem everytime. In far past (beginning of 2005), it was
working well.
Since We don't know how many apps this bug can affect, I'll better do the
regression testing and tell more.

This is interesting, because so far, that's are the limits which the bug 4229 is
also within. They might be connected, but this needs a prove.
I'll search for suspicious patch and let You know.

I can tell that there are two problems with myODBC installer:
First one is, that since some version, it dosen't work either.
Second one is some bad buffering of graphics of whatever, again appearing since
some version of Wine.
These bugs are not the same. I'll report the graphics separately.

To answer the question, on most Linux systems here, there is CUPS shared network
printer used for printing. Only about 1/3 PC's have their local printer, and
they share it for others using CUPS.
There is also legacy of Samba shared printers here, but because of problems with
them, we don't use them anymore. We want to get rid of them shared to network,
because CUPS replicates them etc..

The patches are the four messages starting with
http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-patches/2006-January/023407.html
I applied them; they built fine, and MDAC 2.7sp1 installed
fine, but I had to do
cd "$HOME/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Common Files/System/OLE DB"
regsvr32 oledb32.dll
before I stopped getting error messages from the app I was trying to start.
(Hrm, maybe doing a wineboot would have helped; I didn't try.)

Summary: Can't run winecfg anymore
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.5.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: blocker
Priority: P2
Component: wine-help
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: crbarron_48125(a)yahoo.com
I downloaded and installed 0.9.5 into my Ubuntu Linux system and ran winecfg and
wine several days ago. I had some problems trying to get programs working, but
nothing unexpected occurred until today.
Today I entered the following text and got the following result:
curtis@ubuntu:~$ winecfg
fixme:advapi:CheckTokenMembership (0x4c 0x7fdd6ba8 0x7fadfae0) stub!
fixme:actctx:QueryActCtxW stub!
err:win:CreateWindowExW bad class name L"SysTabControl32"
It happened repeatedly, even after I completely uninstalled Wine (including
configuration files) via the Synaptic Package Manager and reinstalled Wine.
Any idea what's happening?
Thanks.
Curt

I suspect you mean you get the error 0x80020005 - DISP_E_TYPEMISMATCH.
I am guessing it is the same issue that I've already been made aware of - the
app passes in VT_VARIANT to ITypeInfo::Invoke and we are expected to convert it
to VT_VARIANT|VT_BYREF. Of course, without any debug error messages to go on, I
am just guessing...
