No this is the dup of Bug 633. If you look at the comments for
StorageImpl_Commit you will see that it has nothing to do with your problem.
(dlls/ole32/storage23.c:1600)
Wine does not have "internal" clipboard and using X's clipboard instead. And
your problem is related to Wine's inability to copy anything but the raw plain
text into the X's clipboard.

Bug in Comment #4 is due to msvcrt bug [Bug 4128].
Some error messages in Comment #5 should be fixed with this patch:

So I'm still not sure what bug are we fixing? <g>

This is likely due to your window manager. Wine sets the position hints, but
many windows managers decide that it's better for them to "autoplace" the
windows. Try looking through the configuration options for your Window manager
and see if you can turn off the autoplacing.
In sawfish, I don Configure->Placement, then set "Method of placing windows" and
"Method of placing dialog windows" both to "None".
I have argued unsuccessfully on wm-spec-list(a)gnome.org that there should be an
_NET_AUTOPLACE hint to allow the window manager to know that it really shouldn't
autoplace, but they said that this feature is present already, but most window
managers ignore it, so adding another hint will be of no use.
If your window manager provides no way to configure this, try a different window
manager.

Hi,
Windows will center ::MessageBox() dialogs on the desktop, when hwnd==DESKTOP,
which is not happening under Wine. They will open somewhere in the upper left
corner. This is also true when using a virtual desktop.
MessageBox(HWND_DESKTOP, text, "I should be centered",
MB_ICONINFORMATION | MB_OK);
Does anyone have an idea why?
Thanks and regards

Saulius, my english is no way better than Yours. So, let's not worry too much.
In communication, it's always just matter of time, when the one being stops
understanding the another being :o) It is completely normal, and if the WILL to
communicate persists and there is enough time, then everything still can be
considered as success. People are created as social, communicative beings by
their nature.
The important thing is, that we still communicate and thus we still can find a
solution. I'm going to try the overrides the way You suggested.
Pleasure to cooperate with You :o)

Thanks, Peto
| First, I don't clearly understand what You have written.
I admit my experience with english language isn't nice, but..
actually I just have asked wheather you can:
1, install DCOM95 (or DCOM98);
2, go one step forward from the second patch which brokes things and compile Wine;
3, run one command line (WINEDLLOVERRIDES='oleaut32=n' wine ...).
This command line does on-the-fly dll-override, and it isn't recorded anywhere
in the registry, so it seems to be usefull for debugging only. If you find this
override (oleaut32 [native only]) makes your app working, you can transfer it
into the registry (via winecfg).
Plus in that case we will know there is something wrong in Wine oleaut32.dll
code. That should be debugged later, using latest wine-cvs version.
| but there is a notion, that winecfg is just too new and it dosen't change
| things so far, only allows to view. I have tried to change some DLL overrides,
| and seemed that settings are remembered, however I'm not sure if they are
| actually working either.
Ok, this happens because of too old wine version. Just use overrides from the
command line for a testing time. When the cvs-version of Wine is compiled, you
can use winecfg to set overrides in a permanent way.
| I will do anything to help fix this bug, but for now things becomes unclear
| for me.
I am quite new at supporting bugfixing, so I am sorry about making the situation
go into this state. :-/

"This patch is the one that moved the dll overrides keys to the

Hi saulius.
Please, don't take it bad, I recognise Your best efforts to help me.
I have done much for getting issue fixed, but this is getting too cryptic for me.
First, I don't clearly understand what You have written.
Second, I believed that this bug reporting pages are enough space for bugs. I
participate on many projects with some kind of bugzilla, but I was never forced
to join yet_another discussion in order to deal with the bugs. The bugzilla has
usually been enough (openoffice.org, kernel.org, mozilla.org). The only place
where it hasn't been enough is phpgroupware project that is slowly fading away..
So if this is not case in WINE, I think things should consolidate a bit, and
bugs.winehq.org should be place of full authority between users and developers
to manage bugs and their fixing..
I will do anything to help fix this bug, but for now things becomes unclear for me.
I wish You all the best You can bear in the new Year, and inspiration and
blessings in Your work.

Could you create a trace of the application starting up to the bug state with

then gzip it and attach it to this bug?
thanks,

That doesn't help. I'm getting the same error on win2k:
wine: Call from 0x10320a05 to unimplemented function
MSVCR80.dll._encode_pointer, aborting
Only it's not running out of stack but shows up a message box.
Nothing to fix here. It's an installation problem (apparently MSVCR80.dll is
older then cl.exe needs - standard case of dll-hell (c) m$).

IIRC, BGII uses directsound. If you could provide a +dsound trace under oss, as
well as a +wave and a +dsound (separate please) under alsa, that could
definately narrow this problem down.
And if you could, please attach all logs (including the one already posted) to
the bug instead of pasting it, it makes it a LOT easier to read. Thanks.

Bugslayer is a gui testing app that lets you record
keystrokes and menu clicks, and play them back

Notepad crashes. Here's the stack dump:

wine: Call from 0x10320da0 to unimplemented function

I assume that dll came with MSVC 2005?
We can't do anything about it - it's MS' bug, or installation/configuration bug.
Could you verify that you using the latest copy of that file that came with MSVC.

2. DO NOT use winetools. They do not work properly. Winetools has nothing to do

3. DO NOT copy usp10.dll from windows. That's the whole point in not having it

Indeed I did. "regsvr32 dhtmled.ocx" didn't seem to help.
I'm attaching a log of running that and then the app,
using +ole,+module.

Summary: Feature request: Allow per-user overrides of
/etc/dosdevices
Product: Wine
Version: CVS
Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P2
Component: wine-binary
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: bero(a)arklinux.org
In a system-wide wine installation, there doesn't seem to be a possibility to
map a drive letter to the current user's home directory anymore.
There should be a possibility to override /etc/dosdevices symlinks, preferably
in the registry (so e.g. a distribution package can create a H: drive pointing
to the current user's home directory without having to create a
~/.wine/dosdevices or whatever for every new user).

Summary: Wine font handling apparently incompatible with
fontconfig 2.3.9x
Product: Wine
Version: CVS
Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-gui
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: bero(a)arklinux.org
When upgrading to fontconfig 2.3.9x, wine stops seeing the system fonts and
(sees only the fonts in /etc/dosdevices/c:/windoze/fonts).
There's a note in fontconfig 2.3.92's changelog saying
"Support localized font family and style names; this has been reported to
break old apps like xfd, but modern (gtk+/qt/mozilla) apps work fine"
Probably this change is breaking wine too

Hello!
I've got a problem while i try to compile wine 0.9.4. I tried to compile it with
the gcc version 3.3.2, 3.3.4, and 4.0.2 as well, and it comes back with the same
error after the "make" command. (the ".cofigure" and the "make depend" commands
run without any problem):
gcc -c -I. -I. -I../include -I../include -D__WINESRC__ -Wall -pipe
-mpreferred-stack-boundary=2 -fno-strict-aliasing -gstabs+
-Wdeclaration-after-statement -Wpointer-arith -g -O2 -o snapshot.o snapshot.c
In file included from snapshot.c:33:

Okay, I will try to revert to kernel 2.6.13 with in-built ALSA and reproducce
these Errors. But next year ;)
Alsa works for me with kernel 2.6.14 and wine 0.9.3/4. But only when I use
"emulation" for sound acceleration.

Programs using CSIDL_PERSONAL work as usual, and they are equivalent.
A quick look on google shows that patch that adds CSIDL_MYDOCUMENTS is already
in CVS, so it's weird how this is not working.

Hey, I ran winecfg and told it to use native oleaut32.dll,
(which the app kindly includes), and it got a lot further!
I guess this confirms there's a problem in wine's oleaut32.dll.
Now it complains
Component 'dhtmled.ocx' or one of its dependencies
not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid
The app doesn't ship a copy of dhtmled.ocx, which currently comes with IE.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/archive/en-us/dnaredcom/html/edcomdownload.asp
says there's an SDK called dhedsdk.exe containing a standalone version for
those who don't have IE. The SDK can be unpacked via cabextract,
which is handy, since Wine couldn't run the executable properly.
Sadly, even after copying that version of dhtmled.ocx into c:\windows\system32,
the app fails with the following warnings from wine:
fixme:urlmon:InternetSession_RegisterNameSpace (0x7bca0458
{f6e34e90-c032-11d1-8ccb-00a0c959bc0a} L"DHTMLEd0" 0 (nil) 0)

Strange. For me it doesn't work with ALSA at all (crashes before the video) -
looks like related to ADPCM compressed sound in the video. And with OSS crashes
after the video - something with unloading dlls.
So I'm not sure I want to close this bug yet.
