I figured it out. ./configure wasn't finding my freetype libs. I just had to
run configure twice. Once without any arguments and then again with
--x-libraries=/usr/X11R6/lib
I also changed the following lines in configure but I'm not sure they are necessary:
FREETYPELIBS="/usr/lib"
FREETYPEINCL="/usr/include"

I should add that I installed MPLAB by following the HOWTO at it's page in the
AppDB <http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?versionId=2709>.
It didn't work initially (froze at the splash screen), but then I manually
registered all the DLLs (the procedure is documented on the same page in the
AppDB, in the comment titled "MPLAB IDE completely works!").

Pressing the Esc-key twice does indeed help, thanks. On another run the problem
occured at a different moment. I also tried version 200512111000 and the problem
occured at yet another moment.
On WinXP version 200512111000 also closed the explorer shell and winxp started
the explorer filemanager :(. It also changes the layout of the icons on the
desktop under winxp, but that is another problem. At least there is a WinMe
report available now.

All winelib function correctly with bricscad. Is only wine the problem, because
with all versions of winelib, bricscad function with wine version 2005xx. And if

bricscad not function.

Description of the problem currently observed: if after opening any table (which
causes main lobby window to minimize) you click on lobby window in the task bar,
lobby window gets unminimized but has 1x1 size; if table window is closed while
main lobby is in this '1x1-pixel-state', main lobby remains 1x1-pixel-size and
cannot be restored without restarting the program.

Wine's downloading and installing of the Mozilla ActiveX
control is very slick, but testing it in fairly fresh
fake drive_c reveals that it fails to register itself
because it can't find the file MSVCP60.DLL.
You'd think that would be bundled in the control's installer,
but http://www.iol.ie/~locka/mozilla/faq.htm clearly states
that it is not, and tells you to install it yourself first
from a particular URL. Wine's autodownload should take care
of that for the user if that DLL is not found.

This is becuase you are running hl2.exe directly. To use this exe in such a way
options need to be passed to the exe from Steam.exe. It cannot be run on it's
own accord. You need to run Steam.exe first then run HL2 from steams menu's.
This should fix your problem. Allthough, I'm not sure if and application calls
to run an .exe is it run though wine or directly. If it is run directly one
could only assume that it will be handled by your window manager as an "Unknown
file", unless maybe you have configured Gnome or KDE etc. to run .exe's with wine.
All the best,

The libGL warnings come every time immediately after I run wine. The last line
comes at the moment Wine crashes. This happens after using the program for a
while. Maybe 15 minutes, maybe browsing through half an issue.
Sometimes the Totmad.exe's window just disappears. Sometimes there appears a
small empty un-resizeable window on top of it. After I close the small window,
another one appears. Sometimes, after closing dozens of small windows, there is
suddenly no more and the Totmad.exe's window also closes. Sometimes there is no
end to them, and I just kill wine with Ctrl-C

when using the "emulate a virtual desktop" option under the winecfg "graphics"

buttons are below the edge of the window at this resolution, so the user has no
way to apply changes (except tabbing and hoping for the best).
there is no reason for the winecfg window to be so long vertically. it could
easily fit in less than 480 pixels with plenty of room to spare.
it may also be useful to prevent the user from entering a resolution that would
be too small (or a warning).
and finally, it would be useful to have a dropdown list of standard resolutions,
rather than text-entry.
thanks for the hard work.

There's already a patch for the bitmap bug (bug 4034 - thanks again, Marcus!),
but the font problem is still there. Just tried with the Poser 6 demo, todays
Wine CVS, Raphaels "render_texture"-patch reversed (caused a regression) and
Marcus' fix for 4034.
There are also issues with the OpenGL viewport, most likely caused by the
OpenGL rewrite (bug 2398).

think the step to save the settings created in the session are saved after this
step and it never gets to it.

Okay, a quick fix to get around the name resolution problem is to change the
server address in data/sclientinfo.xml to the actual IP address of the server.
You have to use linuxexe, which is provided
here(http://saufen.s01.user-portal.com/linuxexe.zip) for this to work.
Now, once it has the straight IP, it will connect to the login server and even
let you select/creater a character. Once you choose your character, though, it
will disconnect. I have tested this on Windows and it does work. I have also
set up a local server and using Wine, it connected and played fine. But any
time I have to go outside of my locate network, it drops off.

FYI:
- wine uses a default of 96 dpi
- it does not use the settings from 'X'. Wine did do so some time ago, but
there are far too many broken user configurations around.
- 1600 dots on a 19 inch display is theoretically 105 dpi. On a LCD panel
that should be correct, if you are using a CRT monitor the value may be 120.
- setting the LogPixels value is not the whole story. The fonts that you are
laking about are stored HKCU\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics. Font sizes
are device units: pixels. That means those fonts will not be affected by
setting a different dpi, but the actual fontsizes must be adjusted. That is
what happens on Windows when you change the dpi in the Display Properties
applet.
- Wine does not have that yet. For the moment you can try the Display
Properties applet fom win98. "control /path/to/desk.cpl" works here enough
to modify those font settings.
Rein.

Hi, this bug appears to be caused by an ENOMEM failure on my computer.
I will not close it yet, because I don't understand why this happens - I think
that I should have more than enough memory to run Steam (1GB ram + 512 swap),
40% used. Steam attempts to reserve 200MB of virual memory, fails, ignores the
failure, proceeds, and later tries to commit the memory, at which point it
reports an assert failure (used to be 143, now it's 148). Lately I also get an
exception that it could not write to virtual address 4, because of insufficient
privileges.
Here's the call that fails:
It goes through VirtualAlloc, and then wine_anon_mmap:
mmap2(NULL, 209780736, PROT_NONE, MAP_PRIVATE|MAP_ANONYMOUS, -1, 0) = -1 ENOMEM
(Cannot allocate memory)
I am currently trying prelinking and various things suggested on wine-devel, but
ultimately I am suspicious that wine might be the source of the problem - if I
find out otherwise will I'll close the bug.

present or so . You might try yourself , the download is free and you can sign

Anyway, this bug is about installing the application, and as i said that seems
to work fine now, so i think we might just close this bug.

Start the game after installation and click on "Load Saved Party" and after a
short freeze it works like expected. On ms-win this freeze is not there. This
happens on most other sound-ocassions in the game, too. When using alsa instead
of oss the problem gets worse (not the freeze time, but the sound buffer is
repeating, which it isn't with oss). Changing the nice value of the
wine-preloader process doesn't help either.
I observed another bug: Directly at the start of the game, during the company
logo, there is an adible "pip", that does not happen normaly or with oss, but
with alsa.
That game demo is a small (15MiB) download.

It also seems that Wine is not taking into account the DPI when computing the
font to use for System fonts.

Confirming. There is more. Some dialogs' content is scaled and some is not. When
it's scaled it looks like everything inside the window is scaled, but the window
size is too small.

Summary: Wine is not reading the DPI setting from X - and is
defaulting it to a dumb value
Product: Wine
Version: CVS
Platform: Other
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-x11driver
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: wowbagger(a)sktc.net
It does not seem that the X11 driver is correctly setting the DPI of the display
it is using, and defaults it to 72 DPI. This sucks mightily on my 1600x1200 19"
monitor, as it makes all the scaled fonts too small to read.
If I manually create the HKLM/[System\\CurrentControlSet\\Hardware
Profiles\\Current\\Software\\Fonts\\LoxPixels entry, and set it to 160, then
most of the fonts (all save the menu bar fonts) are scaled a bit more reasonably.

Sorry, I've found out that my problem was caused by having msvcrt.dll native
after I removed that from my winecfg this problem was fixed.

The problem I am having is NOT that the fonts are drawn in italic - but that
they are drawn at an angle other than 0 degrees.
More accurately - it is not that the font elements are rotated, but rather that
it looks like there is reverse stairstep - there is a small negative Y axis
offset from character to character, sort of

(although nowhere NEAR that bad!)

Louis Lenders you copied what?
Native hal.dll and ntoskrnl.dll will NEVER EVER work on Wine. And I mean it, NEVER.
Why do you need those dlls anyway? In win98 mode? They are winNT+ only.

One fixed (see wine-patches). More to go.

I still have the problem with wine 0.9.3 (compiled from sources) on an AMD
Sempron with Mandriva 2006.
I've tried on an other pc (AMD Athlon XP / Mandrake 10.0) with the same version
of wine, and NoteWorthy runs ok.
I don't know what is the problem with the first machine : AMD Sempron or
Mandriva 2006 ?

I presume you mean to Wine 9.3? Winehq.org hasn't announced it yet, but I
vaguely remember getting an announcement that it was available. I'll try it
soon and close out the bug if all's well.
(I did try "rm -rf ~/.wine", and tried the Wine-provided msiexec from 9.2, but
no joy.)
Thank you.
