Hi, i just tried this demo (got it from
http://ftp.tpnet.pl/vol/d3/Dema_GierII/Wiz8NetDemoEB.exe that _doesn't_ need
registration :) ) and it seems to behave similar: the "presaved" file that comes
with the game is called "AAAAAAAAAAA" . When you run the game with native msvcrt
the name is correct: "Sample Party" . Ilya, could you try to run the game with
native msvcrt and report back if it changes anything? That way it's clear wether
or not the problem is in msvcrt.
(in case you don't know: copy msvcrt.dll from a windows partition to
~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32/ and run WINEDLLOVERRIDES="msvcrt=n" wine
appname.exe. if you have a windows license you might get msvcrt.dll as well from
www.dlldump.com)

Hi, Konstantin, i didn't use any configs or native windows dlls. All just
default. Futher i used cvs version(2 days ago). What version did you run it
with? I just unpacked it in ~/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files and ran it.
You could try with current cvs and see if it changes anything, if not, my guess
would be that it is related to running wine on FreeBSD. AFAIK wine can have some
weird issues when run on other Operating Systems than Linux. Regards

>From the developer of zMud:
And if it helps with Wine at all, the map "creation" stuff uses an extension to
ADO/MDAC called the ADOX library. ADOX is only really implemented for the Jet
drivers (Microsoft Access 2000). ADOX has the routine that is used to create a
new database file I believe. Anyway, it might give you a clue to look into with
the Wine people.

Look inside the program directory. There are windows ports of mkisofs.exe and
cdrecord.exe in there that the program uses. I can run them with "wine mkisofs"
and "wine cdrecord" and they seem to work when run from the command line.
However, trying to run the program, "wine pebuilder" and, with the XP cd in the
drive, pressing the "build" button: a dialog flashes by, listing a bunch of
steps before the program crashes, stopping on "reading .inf file
(path)/serialmouse.inf" And it crashes even if you choose not to burn a cd or
make an image and instead just try to build the directory tree:

(www.microtool.de, also about 80MB download). The installation is very very
smooth and claims to complete successfully but the installed binary only opens
an empty window and then immediately quits.
During installation I got many fixmes
fixme:ole:ITypeInfo_fnRelease destroy child objects [repeated _many_ times]
interspesed with
fixme:ole:DllRegisterServer not implemented (olepro32.dll) [once]
fixme:ole:MSFT_ReadValue BSTR length = -1? [twice]
and once only:
fixme:atl:AtlModuleInit SEMI-STUB (0x10016400 0x100160b8 0x10000000)
fixme:atl:AtlModuleRegisterServer 0x10016400 1 (null)
and close to the very end:
fixme:ole:SLTG_ProcessDispatch memh.cbExtra is 434
fixme:ole:SLTG_ProcessDispatch offset 0 0x4a
fixme:ole:SLTG_ProcessDispatch memh.cbExtra is 82
fixme:ole:SLTG_ProcessDispatch offset 0 0x4a
wine --version gives 0.9 from Debian unstable.
I presume I should have run the latest version of wine, sorry. Also I will
redirect the output properly next time I'll go for it or upon request.

Louis Lenders, can you send me to mail: madjack(a)mail.ru or post here yours
wine configs and wine version? My wine configs are default. I don't change
anything after wine first run. Maybe need some native windows files or special
command line to run this prog? Or special flags to build wine from FreeBSD
ports?

Wine's winaspi using read/write from/to /dev/sg?. That doesn't work anymore for
things where ioctls should be used (like scsi query & enum).
I really don't think native will work (i would probably say 100% sure it will not).

Summary: InsertMenuItem, GetMenuString fails with MFT_OWNERDRAW
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.1.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P4
Component: wine-gui
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: andrew7webb(a)comcast.net
A Menu item containing a string, which is also owner drawn cannot be retrieved
with GetMenuString.
A very short C program (attached) will work on windows but fail on wine.
The crucial code is:
MENUITEMINFO mii;
mii.fMask= MIIM_FTYPE | MIIM_STRING;
mii.fType= MFT_OWNERDRAW;
...
if ( InsertMenuItem( hMenu, uItem, fByPosition, &mii ) ) {
if ( GetMenuString( hMenu, uItem, strback, 99, MF_BYPOSITION ) ) {
MessageBox( 0, "GetMenuString worked.", strback, MB_OK );
} else {
MessageBox( 0, "GetMenuString failed.", title, MB_OK );
}
GetMenuString will fail on wine, but succeed on windows.
After examining the problem , it appears that the relevant source code is the
function SetMenuItemInfo_common, the function GetMenuStringA, and the macro
IS_STRING_ITEM in user/menu.c The concept of having a string and the
MF_OWNERDRAW specified seems to cause trouble in the macro.

Does not need XP to run, just needs an XP boot CD to copy files from, AFAIK.
Do you mean "obsoleted" winaspi? And which? Is it wine's or PE Builder's
handling of winaspi that is obsoleted? If this is a common problem maybe it's a
dup. Perhaps I will try installing the windows aspi drivers under wine, heh.

This may well be related to "eLicense" the copy protection scheme used.
It can be cured by INSTALLING (origionally - a reinstall won't fix) and running
this game in win98 mode (probably installs a diffrent form of the licensing service)

Enough answers in wine-users?
This will not be looked at for a long time. This is is why it's "LATER" (after 1.0).
Wine is missing whole that layer. And it's not a simple thing to implement.
Also for ovious reasons you can't use native dlls for these stuff (ntdll,
kernel, advapi, etc).

The patch breaks Delphi 1 ide and it won't start.
The patch fixes an internal application that only runs a second or so depending
on the size of and which code runs.
Delphi 1 ide is real before the patch as several components can not be added to
forms. It will compile some project to a working EXE.

Ok.
"Does the Windows version works with latest Wine?"
Not complete installing process.
How is the Linux version different from Windows version?
With the desktop managers and O.S. integrations.
If you want to try (best):
http://www.bricscad.com/download/B4L_certified.jsp
1) you can download linux version (.tar.gz file).
2) Unpack it in your home.
3) Copy bricscad folder in your /opt directory.
4) /opt/bricscad/./icad (to start)
If you can prove it with 2005 and 0.9.x version.
In my ubuntu, are installed wine 20050725, libwine 0.9.2-winehq-1.

main window. It is not possible to bring them in the foreground. They still take
keyboard input, but one can not see them.

Hi, this might be related to bug 3690 :
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3690
when i unpack the rar archive in my root directory (/) and run layout40.exe it
seems to hang in the splashscreen , some further investigation shows it is
scanning my whole hard disk; it calls FindNextFileW a zillion times.
If i unpack it in ~/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files and run layout40.exe it only
takes 1 second to start (there are almost no files right there) . See
screenshot
Maybe you could try to change the directory from where you run it as well ;
from what directory do you run it now?

If it runs fine with you on elder wine versions i'd suggest you do a regression
test to find out what patch broke it:
http://www.winehq.org/site/docs/winedev-guide/x1344
(BTW don't know why it doesn't run here with older versions but comparing to
your output i don't see the AfxInitialize message right here, might have to do
with that)

which are supposed to work correctly.

Hi, i just tried and it indeed segfaults. However, using older versions of wine
(like 20050524) doesn't work either here; it complains about not being able to
load icad.dll. However the "pure" windows version from
http://www.bricscad.com/download/BCAD_certified.jsp seems to work just fine in
wine.

Because with old Wine version (2005xxxx), Bricscad function perfectly.
I presume that Wine has changed in part of source code, and this modify is a
problem for wine.
Thank you
David

I go by the instruction. I get the archive full-cvs-2005-11-30.tar.gz
I copy it into my home and unpack it. New directory is created: cvs-commit
By the howto, next step I should do is: mv wine repository
It dosen't make sense, however. I have no wine directory in my home.
Is the name of directory inside cvs archive the first variable?
