This is from a clean wine install with ie6 installed using the ies4linux method (I just modified their script to put it in .wine instead of .ies4linux). Originally I overrode secur32.dll, schannel.dll, and crypt32.dll because it was mentioned in Juan Langs page about SSL in wine (http://wiki.winehq.org/JuanLang). However, it seems like googletalk/wine doesn't have problems with schannel and crypt32 yet. The attached debug output shows output with no overrides, output with secur32.dll overrode, and output with secure32.dll and advapi32.dll overrode. Summary: googletalk needs AcquireCredentialsHandleW from secure32.dll. secure32.dll needs SystemFunction035 from advapi32.dll. advapi32.dll causes googletalk to crash when overrode. Now that I played with it for a while, I find that once you define a site, Dreamweaver hangs on startup with the splash screen saying "Initializing site..." Running with WINEDEBUG=+file, I found that the last few lines of the log were trace:file:GetFileAttributesW L"z:\\home\\dank\\foo.com\\" trace:file:RtlDosPathNameToNtPathName_U (L"z:\\home\\dank\\foo.com\\",0x7b92e8a8,(nil),(nil)) trace:file:RtlGetFullPathName_U (L"z:\\home\\dank\\foo.com\\" 520 0x7b92e674 (nil)) warn:file:wine_nt_to_unix_file_name L"home\\dank\\foo.com\\" not found in /home/dank/.wine/dosdevices/z: Reasoning that dreamweaver was hanging because of some internal problem when it couldn't open the site's directory, I manually created that directory (and made sure it existed from Wine's point of view), and that cured the hang. I then used dreamweaver to create and upload a trivial site. So there seem to be some situations which cause dreamweaver to hang, but once you're past those, it seems to basically work. But snoop did reveal what was going on: dreamweaver is busily doing a directory search of the entire Linux system using FindNextFileW! My home directory happened to contain several very large directories with kazillions of files (two copies each of the wine, gcc, glibc, etc. source trees); removing those worked around the problem! In a way, it's Dreamweaver's fault for trying to do a full scan of the disk before starting up. It would be good for FindNextFile to be faster, but that's probably worth a separate bug report. There are still a couple of exceptions where EnumWindows won't work, such as the Print dialogs in Word Viewer and Excel Viewer. For those I'll have to continue relying on tabbing order and/or keyboard shortcuts. Just lets hope that these won't change too often. Produces software of many kinds, almost targets on reference, law, technical and standardisation. It offers pre-created documents that are stored in Borland database. Older versions of the software (year 2003, some 2004) function very well with wine. Newer versions employ slightly different installer, that differs from older ones by not allowing to select Typical/Compact/Custom installation type. I don't know, if the only change in the software is the installer, or there is a difference in version of runtimes, Borland db itself etc.. I just say, that by the new installer it can be with great probability said, if it will run or no. It seems however, that Borland DB is the same, since all files in Program Files/Common Files/Borland Shared/Bde are from year 2001 or older. It's pitty, but the software is dependent on actual data, thus the older (working) versions are not of much help for us. Instantclient for Linux is quite useless because, as I said, no ODBC driver is offered with. One must buy commercial ones, and I can't say if he will be succesful with them either. As of Instant Client for Windows, it is also not that clear, because if one wants to use instantclient, Oracle Network Utilities and Oracle Windows Interfaces must be installed. I don't know, whether Instantclient assumes some parts are already available in Window$ (odbc32.dll or whatever). The fact is, I'm not able to run the client this way (not that I'm some kind of guru). We did have Oracle8 client for windows functional @wine in the pass, but no one knows how it was achieved (some mySQL installer has been involved because of ODBC driver, and the guy who did it even then didn't know how, not to say he could remember now ;o) and it worked only with 200503 and 200504 versions of Wine. I can post another issue covering the mySQL installer not working, but I see more decent way to try to enable the Oracle client installer (in hope it would be enough). For now, i'm eperimenting with copying instantclient files and registering them, but with no success so far. So, if installer of regular client for Windows worked (version dosen't matter), there will be one more way to try, more likely to function. I know there is always much work and only few people available. First I did an RPM upgrade, but when I saw that there were connection problems, I uninstalled it and cleaned all of the various bits off my computer, then reinstalled it clean, and had the same issues.
