I've been using Ableton 10 with wine since september and everything had been
very good until recently.
First (possibly related which is why I'm mentioning it), like three weeks ago
it started to take a lot of time to launch (to its own launching screen, but
that was fast).
now it's just a black window. I see lots of

and also a lot of 002b:fixme:msvcp:_Locinfo__Locinfo_ctor_cat_cstr but I think
I was already seeing that when it started to take long to launch

I'm using the fedora packages. right now I'm at wine-4.12.1-1.fc30.

no issues. Now when they did implement https the game can't connect to the

Gnutls, openssl and libwbclient are installed.

small net framework application and it's source code that is based on the code
in the game for testing. I am only permitted to send it through email and only

Hello,
Please, don't copy-paste more than 5~10 lines of terminal output in the
comments.
Next time, redirect standard & error output to a file and attach it instead.
Instructions for that can be found there:
https://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#get_log
The summary should contain the application name.
There is an edit link next to the summary for that (I fixed it already).
Please, specify which version of the application -GOG, Steam or retail
1.0/1.11- is affected.
Regards.

Log with +relay,+heap
The game For Honor from Ubisoft crashes after starting it in Uplay with a
"double free or corruption" error message in the logs.
This does not happen, if I downclock my CPU or when using +relay,+heap to track
the issue down. Which indicates that this is probably a race condition.
I hope the attached log with +relay,+heap is useful to track the issue down
even though it does not crash with it. I killed the game a few seconds after
the game window rendered, which should be far enough since it does not even get
remotely that far without the debug channels.
Kind regards,
Riesi

As said in:
https://wiki.winehq.org/Debug_Channels
By default Wine echoes all debug channels. For the end user it would be more
meaningful only to echo "err" and "trace" by default.
Plus echoing the rest of channels even noticeably slowed down my computer on
certain scenarios. It even froze it when saving the echo into a variable, or
redirecting to a file.
Programs should only print messages that would require an action by the kind of
user in front of the screen.

https://community.secondlife.com/t5/General-Discussion-Forum/Objects-I-cann…
It became necessary to run the compiled for MS Windows version of the FireStorm
Viewer under Wine. It was successfully installed both after in winecfg the
installation was set to Windows 7 and also Windows 10 was tried. But the
Firestorm installation does not run in either instance.
The Firestorm installation file was downloaded from this link:
https://firestorm-download-secondlife-com.akamaized.net/Phoenix-FirestormOS…
On this web page:
http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/downloads
The error messages indicate a problem with the graphics card. So I also
attempted to install the Windows version of the graphics driver. This driver
would not install when the installation file was set in winecfg to Windows 7 or
Windows 10. The error message was that graphics hardware could not be found.
The Windows 7 and 8 driver version was downloaded from:
http://www.geforce.com/drivers/results/113442
The Windows 10 driver version was downloaded from:
http://www.geforce.com/drivers/results/113448#

terminal output of battle.net launch
Since a few days (I'm not sure exactly since when), after a system "apt-get
update", the battle.net client window is fully blacked out. I can hover some
invisible icons but I can't launch HearthStone anymore (which was working fine
earlier).
The login window pops up normally, then after I enter my user/pw, the
Battle.net client comes up but is full of black.
I'm on wine-staging, latest kubuntu 19.04.

Summary: .NET Framework NetNamedPipe with transport security

Hello,
I use WCF on a .NET application of mine and found it crashed under Wine
due to a "System.Security.Authentication.AuthenticationException", itself
caused by "System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception: Unknown error (0x80090304)".
WCF is commonly used to call remote procedures from different processes in the
same machine or over the network.
After some investigation I found that this is caused by using a named pipe with
transport security enabled (which is the default behavior for WCF).
You can disable the transport security, which will make it work but such is not
always possible, for example I use FiddlerCore, an HTTP proxy and it suffers
from the same problem when SSL decryption is turned on. Meaning you can only
intercept HTTP traffic.
I'll attach a minimal example program that can be used to reproduce this issue,
along with the stacktrace produced and a screenshot.
Transport security can be disabled by replacing the default binding for this:
var binding = new NetNamedPipeBinding
{
Security = new NetNamedPipeSecurity
{
Mode = NetNamedPipeSecurityMode.None,
Transport = new NamedPipeTransportSecurity() { ProtectionLevel =
ProtectionLevel.None }
}
};
This bug looks similar to this one but the error code is different,
so I'm not entirely sure: https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46671
I hope this helps.
Regards

NOC Services Tools
NOC management has five essential elements known as tools which are a vital
element toward improvement. You need to know which tools will give you the best
return on the investment into outsourcing to companies such as ExterNetworks.
There are many ways that these tools can help you to give your team more
control over tasks while putting the NOC in a position to be an exclusive
resource for the IT department.
The Five Essential Tools of Network Operation Center Services:
Incident Tracking through a Ticketing System
The use of a ticketing system will enable all issues to be kept track of by the
urgency, severity and who is assigned to handle a specific task. Issues that
arise tickets are created to describe the issue so that it can be processed and
assigned to the correct person or department. When the person or department
assigned to a task cannot complete it, the ticket will move to the next level
for correction. The best service can be provided to customers and the tasks of
each shift prioritized by making all pending issues known.
Centralization of Knowledge
A centralized place for all documentation and knowledge that is readily
accessible to every team member is known as the knowledge base. It should be a
fluid source of information that is always up to date with lessons from
incidents so they can be used to prevent the same thing from happening in the
future. The experiences should be referenceable to the entire company and used
in making future improvements to the organization.

A technical solutions architect is somebody who helps companies design and
delivers a range of solutions to their problems. Technical solutions architects
need to have the skills and the knowledge to create solutions that fit in with
company strategy. They need an underlying understanding of every business that
they work with so that they can provide solutions within the strict constraints
that the organization puts on them. Ultimately, the goal of a technical
solution architect is to provide a firm with a permanent solution to its
problems.
Part of the skill of being an effective technical solutions architect is the
ability to observe company processes and find ways of making them better.
You’ll need to work closely with the planning team, coming up with solutions to
complex problems, all the while maintaining a professional manner.
Your solutions, ideally, should be tailored to meet specific commercial needs
and operate at the enterprise level. Companies require people like you who can
diagnose issues and design solutions to complex and seemingly intractable
technical problems.

Backtrace error upon starting Sierra Chart
Sierrachart normally runs exceptionally well in Wine. Just installed Wine 4.12
and the error in the attached backtrace file occurs whenever starting. After,
Sierrachart does start. It always occurs with Wine 4.12, never any other
version. You can download and test for free at: www.sierrachart.com. The
command used to start Sierrachart:
env WINEPREFIX="/home/todd/.wine" wine C:\\SierraChart\\SierraChart_64.exe

After upgrading from 4.11.1 to 4.12.1 (in arch linux x64) every Windows program
I start in wine shows a popup with the message "A program on your system has

If I start any programs in the terminal this is what I get:

Apart from the popup or error message, programs seem to work normally.
If go back to 4.11.1 everything works fine.

Since wine 4.12.1, Condor 2 Soaring Flight Simulator
(http://www.condorsoaring.com) is no longer working.
The game starts, and everything looks normal in the game menus. Except in one
dialog, where a rotating plane is normally shown, this region of the dialog is
just grey.
But when starting a flight in full screen mode, nothing is shown in the
initialization progress screen, which normally shows a full screen image,
progress bar and progress information text. Maybe there is a transparent
window, because mouse disappears as usual. A few seconds later, there is a
fully black screen (instead of the game).
In window mode, there is just a black screen directly after starting a flight.
It worked fine in wine 4.11 (except for bug #47391).

When running a Wine app (Legacy9, genealogy program) in the background and then
trying to type anything with a word processor or do a Google search, it is
difficult to enter text because the insertion point character keeps
disappearing after 2-5 second. Then you have to click again in the text field
to reset the insertion point and try to type a few characters before it
disappears again. This issue stops as soon as the Wine application is
terminated. Mouse operation does not seem to be affected, just keyboard
character input is impaired because the insertion point is continually being
lost.
Cannot find any messages or error codes being asserted and system does not
'crash'.

To Echo what winetest@luukku said, I adjusted the resolution to 800x600x32 in
Armada, which led to seeing some the texture for the animation When hovering.
This is absolutely an issue with draw order, but enabling "fixes" I assumed
would counter this, did nothing useful, and in-fact made the game unusable.
Debian 10 buster, winetricks, wine 1386, Quicktime 3 & DX from armada installer
installed, directplay activated, virtual desktop forced to 1024x768 (game seems
to ignore & go fullscreen)
Also needs to be launched from launcher. Game won't run by itself. Odd

Summary: Programs that get MIDI data from the "Midi Through"
port will crash
Product: Wine
Version: 3.20
Hardware: x86-64
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
Reporter: realnc(a)gmail.com
Distribution: ---
Created attachment 62822
--> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=62822
Example MIDI file that reproduces the crash.
Any Windows software that is configured to use the ALSA "Midi Through" port for
MIDI input (as provided by the snd-seq-dummy kernel module) will crash with a
page fault exception dialog. This only happens with certain MIDI data. It seems
to depend on the speed of the MIDI data.
The issue was originally discovered by using the Linux version of ScummVM
together with the Windows program "Falcosoft Midiplayer" as a means of using a
Windows-only VSTi as a software MIDI synth for ScummVM. In such a setup, the
Linux program is configured to use the "Midi Through" port as MIDI-out, and the
Windows program is configured to use it as MIDI-in.
However, after capturing the specific MIDI data that triggers the crash into a
*.mid file, playing that file in any MIDI player that uses "Midi Through" for
MIDI-out and *any* Windows MIDI program that uses "Midi Through" as MIDI-in,
will crash the Windows program.
The problem is reproducible by at least two people on two different machines.
It is reproducible by building current Wine Git master, without any third-party
patches, and on a cleared ~/.wine directory. Example steps to reproduce this
are:
1. Make sure the "Midi Through" port is available. aplaymidi -l should list
something like:
$ aplaymidi -l
Port Client name Port name
14:0 Midi Through Midi Through Port-0
"Midi Through" is port 14:0 here. If no such port exists, load the
"snd-seq-dummy" kernel module:
$ modprobe snd-seq-dummy
2. Download the attached "crash.mid" file.
3. Download the Falcosoft Midiplayer from:
http://falcosoft.hu/softwares.html#midiplayer
4. Run MidiPlayer.exe in Wine and click the gear icon to open the settings.
Check the "Use Bass (Soundfonts/VSTi)" checkbox (this is only necessary in
order to avoid an unrelated Wine crash.) In the "Midi In" group, check the
"Active" checkbox. In the "Input Port" drop-down selection list, select "Midi
Through Port-0". Click OK.
5. Play the "crash.mid" file using a Linux MIDI player, like aplaymidi, telling
it to use the Midi Through port as output:
$ aplaymidi -p 14 crash.mid
Substitute "14" with the actual port if it differs on your system. It might
take a few attempts before the crash occurs. Here, it crashes about 80% of the
time.
The above steps are just an example. The crash is reproducible with any other
Windows MIDI client, not just the Falcosoft one. See:
https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=48207&start=760#p714667

The SetEvent call in the function pulse_timer_cb() sleeps, calls into the
wineserver, while a pthread mutex is held. This can cause long delays in
releasing the "pulse_lock" mutex, anywhere from 1-2ms to 90ms that I can see
with my custom instrumentation.
It potentially can cause dropouts and other issues with audio handling. It
seems to be in the main core audio processing loop.
The general practice here is to avoid sleeping operations within critical
sections.

I have a symbolic link ~/Audio/hello.flac that is pointing
/mnt/audio/hello.flac . I have also set ~/Audio to be Y: in wine.
Prior to the 4.9 release, windows applications, such as Wine File Manager or
foobar2000 version 1.4.4 ( http://foobar2000.org) would dereference that
symlink and see that it is a 30Mb file that is a valid flac audio file.
With 4.9, file manager shows the size as 0 and foobar2000 cannot read the file
at all. I am on Fedora 30, where a dnf downgrade took me back to 4.5-1, where
this works as expected.
I have verified this on two different machines, using Wine File Manager as well
as foobar2000. I have also seen the same behavior in Fedora 29 (with Wine 4.9),
so I don't think it is OS specific.
Additional context:
- my data is on an XFS file system
- the symlinks are present because the data is managed by git annex (
https://git-annex.branchable.com/ )
- However, i can repro the problem without involving git annex merely by
creating symlinks.
Please let me know if there is any additional details I can provide or
experiments I can run locally. Thank you for the great work on wine.

Summary: Unix symlinks no longer work in wine-staging 4.8
Product: Wine-staging
Version: 4.8
Hardware: x86
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Keywords: regression

With wine-staging-4.8, symlinks created on Linux (i.e. outside of Wine) to
directories no longer work in Wine. They show up as empty files. Previously,
and on wine-devel, they work just fine and even show up as symlinks under file
managers.
The culprit seems to be the updated ntdll-Junction_Points patchset, though I've
no idea what part of it specifically does this.
I know that support for NT symlinks and junctions was updated to differentiate
them, but IMO support for native unix symlinks should remain as it was before
this updated patchset, so they continue to work like before. Many people,
including me, rely on that for our workflow.
Unfortunately I don't know how to bisect wine-staging patches so I can't
pinpoint exactly which patch in the series is responsible for this regression.

Hi,
first: sorry for my bad English. My native language is German.
I am a Linux beginner so please don't hate me if I fail.
I installed League of Legends with snaps. The installation was fine. No
problems, no errors. After I logged in I started a Game. I could choose my
Champ and now the Game crashed. I would be really happy if there is a easy
solution.
Thank you!

I am running the game with virtual desktop enabled.
The game window shows the dxvk hud for a split second at start and then it gets
hidden behind a black window. You can even hear the button selection sounds
when moving the mouse, so the game is functioning behind that black window.
At least that's what I assume, due to the fact that the apitrace of the game
renders fine on Linux with wined3d and dxvk and the game renders fine with
wined3d (or dxvk) on Windows.
To exit the game I had to kill it due to the black window.
If you need a trace with different debug channels enabled, please tell me.
Thanks in advance,
Riesi

New install of GTAV (DVD version). After login the game tries to update itself

be not wine fault, but the crash are not. After restarting the application, the

When the download fails it leaves a .part file in the game directory. When the
.part file is deleted, restarting the application makes the download continue
for a varying amount of time (probably depending on the size of the next file
it downloads).
The whole thing is not yet downloaded so I can't say if the download get

In Fedora 30, wine-staging requires mesa-dri-drivers and mesa-dri-drivers.i686.
Without this wine may not be able to start some applications giving
"libGL error: MESA-LOADER: failed to open i965" error. The files in
/usr/lib64/dri and /usr/lib/dri are part of mesa-dri-drivers.x86_64 and
mesa-dri-drivers.i686. I think these to packages should become dependencies for
winehq-staging and winehq-stable.

I noticed the following issue when playing EVE Online: If you use the ALT+TAB
key to switch from EVE Online to another application and then return back to
EVE Online, then the EVE Online is still thinking you are still holding down
the ALT key. This is only resolved by pressing and releasing the ALT key again.
It's really annoying.
Hypothesis: When pressing ALT+TAB (which at least for me usually happens in the
order 1. hold ALT down and then 2. press TAB) the ALT-key-down command is
transferred to the application (EVE Online) and then the focus is changed to
another application, without sending prior the ALT-key-down command. In my
opinion this should be changed. If ALT+TAB is used to switch the application,
the ALT-key-down command should be generated prior switching.

I want to know, what is stack based file object?
In my minifilter, I am using file object from post-create callback for reading
file, I used IoGetStackLimit to check if it is stack based file object or not.
--- quote ---
An actual usage example can be found in Microsoft driver examples on Github:
https://github.com/Microsoft/Windows-driver-samples/blob/6c1981b85043295213…
--- snip ---
/*++
Routine Description:
Frees the buffer of an string (STRING, UNICODE_STRING, ANSI_STRING,
OEM_STRING)
structure if it is not within the current thread's stack limits.
Regardless of action performed, on exit String->Buffer will be set to NULL
and
String->MaximumLength to zero.
Arguments:
String - pointer to string structure

{
ULONG_PTR High, Low;
PSTRING LocalString = String;
PAGED_CODE();
if (NULL != LocalString->Buffer) {
IoGetStackLimits( &Low, &High );
if (((ULONG_PTR)(LocalString->Buffer) < Low) ||
((ULONG_PTR)(LocalString->Buffer) > High)) {
ExFreePool( LocalString->Buffer);
}
LocalString->Buffer = NULL;
}
LocalString->MaximumLength = LocalString->Length = 0;

Terminal output Wine 1.9.21-106-g51ec5c6
I am trying to run this game in a 32-bit Windows 7 prefix with Wine-devel
1.9.21 and Wine-Staging 1.9.21 and in both versions the game crashes before it
even starts.
The game, according to its Steam page, requires Windows 7 or later.
Terminal output attached.
