Hello,
Multiple visual novels from FAVORITE crash at selecting New Game after startup.
List of affected games (non-exhaustive, using the same engine):
星空のメモリア (Hoshizora no Memoria) -Wish upon a Shooting Star-
星空のメモリア (Hoshizora no Memoria) -Eternal Heart-
いろとりどりのセカイ (Irotoridori no Sekai)
いろとりどりのヒカリ (Irotoridori no Hikari)
アストラエアの白き永遠 (AstralAir no Shiroki Towa)
紅い瞳に映るセカイ (Akai Hitomi ni Utsuru Sekai)
アストラエアの白き永遠Finale-白き星の夢- (AstralAir no Shiroki Towa Finale -Shiroki Hoshi
no Yume-)
さくら、もゆ。(Sakura, Moyu.) -as the Night's, Reincarnation-)
Workaround:
Go to settings, switch to font settings tab, then go back to main menu. This is
far from obvious, as it looks like the game doesn't work at all.
Technical details:
The game engine crashes calling __invalid_parameter_noinfo after failing to
check results of certain call to GetGlyphOutlineA in its text rendering
routine. More precisely, the engine seems bugged. First thing it does after
starting New Game is trying to "render" Japanese space character U+3000.
GetGlyphOutlineA returns zero for it, this triggers the code path calling
GetLastError. Last error is sticky and there is no SetLastError anywhere before
it. Since GetGlyphOutlineA doesn't set the last error in Wine (at least it's
not the case here), GetLastError checks some "ancient" stuck value. The value
is also strange: 0xffffffff, which isn't usually seen as an error code.
I tried to figure out where 0xffffffff comes from. It's set in
win32u:wait_message. X11DRV_MsgWaitForMultipleObjectsEx returns -1 because the
count arg is 0, after process_events succeeds: ret is set to count-1. I don't
understand where the bug actually is, it's pretty confusing.

New Star Soccer 2010 crashes when you try to start a new career. You can
customize your profile correctly, but when you confirm your choices, and the
database is created for you, halfway though the process Wine crashes.
Everything else (main menu, game engine itself) works correctly. It has been
verified (not by me) that loading an already saved game (e.g. saved in Windows)
works fine, so the problem is in generating the savegame database.
The game has a debug mode, which shows that the last operation printed on
console (be it completed or still ongoing) is a 'DoLeagueElimination' (you can
choose, in the customization process, which leagues you want to be accessible
during the game). I'll attach a back trace.

GitLab does not take PARENTSRC into account when running the Windows tests.
For instance MR!4837 introduces a failure in xaudio2_8:xaudio2:
https://gitlab.winehq.org/wine/wine/-/merge_requests/4837/diffs
And yet the 32-bit Windows job shows no failure:
https://gitlab.winehq.org/fgouget/wine/-/jobs/48209
While the 32-bit Linux job shows the expected failure:
https://gitlab.winehq.org/fgouget/wine/-/jobs/48208
This is actually obvious given that the code that builds the list of tests to
run on Windows (winetest.args) contains no reference to PARENTSRC:
- git diff --name-only $CI_MERGE_REQUEST_DIFF_BASE_SHA | sed -re
'/\/tests\//!d; s@/tests/.*@/tests/Makefile.in@' |
(xargs -r ls 2>/dev/null || true) | xargs -r sed '/TESTDLL/!d; s@.dll@@;

The Steam version of Yotsubane's shooting game "Crimzon Clover WORLD IGNITION"
doesn't play any background music, misses most of its sound effects and the few
effects it does play are not mixed properly (most of the time they are too
loud).
I believe this bug to be OpenAL-related due to this specific line in the log:
err:winediag:IXAudio2Impl_CreateSourceVoice OpenAL ran out of sources, consider
increasing its source limit.
This bug still prevails in 1.9.23, but it has been present for roughly 2 or 3
earlier releases in the winehq-repository.

Isolated the function and ran it side by side with real windows function to
test results
Just wanted to report that ImageGetDigestStream does not match the windows (11)
version. I suspect this is very low prio and rarely used. It is used by
Unreal's ShaderCompileWorker.exe as a way to verify dxcompiler.dll version (and
a couple more dlls). The reason it is used is to get same version between
signed and unsigned binaries. I tried fixing it up myself but got stuck on some
weirdness related to .rsrc section when not having
CERT_PE_IMAGE_DIGEST_RESOURCES set (which is a scenario Unreal is not using).
Since our usecase is detouring system calls I ended up putting a specialized
(and very limited) version of ImageGetDigestStream into our code to workaround
the problem for Unreal
(The notes section inside wine source code also says that this function is only
tested with 32-bit so I suspect this code is very old and extremely rarely used
I've attached a hacked up version where my usecase works but there are lots of
cases not working so I didn't want to create a pull request.

As Wine on Termux is much like a Linux distro rather than an Android APP, I
select Linux as OS.

Hello folks,
split off from bug 38719 ("64-bit ARM Windows applications from Windows SDK for
Windows 10 crash when accessing TEB/PEB members (AArch64 platform specific
register X18 must be reserved for TEB)")
Resolution is 'upstream' here, the Wine part is bug 38719
http://infocenter.arm.com/help/topic/com.arm.doc.ihi0055b/IHI0055B_aapcs64.…
Chapter 5 "THE BASE PROCEDURE CALL STANDARD"
--- quote ---
The role of register r18 is platform specific.
If a platform ABI has need of a dedicated general purpose register to carry
interprocedural state (for example, the thread context) then it should use this
register for that purpose. If the platform ABI has no such requirements, then
it should use r18 as an additional temporary register.
The platform ABI specification must document the usage for this register.
Note
Software developers creating platform independent code are advised to avoid
using r18 if at all possible. Most compilers provide a mechanism to prevent
specific registers from being used for general allocation; portable hand-coded
assembler should avoid it entirely. It should not be assumed that treating the
register as callee saved will be sufficient to satisfy the requirements of the
platform. Virtualization code must, of course, treat the register as they would
any other resource provided to the virtual machine.

Unfortunately I am not able to revert this commit on current git.
I think this is the problematic area of the executable:

Inside MyLoadLibrary32 it seems the application does a
16-bit KERNEL.95:LOADLIBRARY of fileio.dll,
which looks like it succeeds (retval=00000306).
Unfortunately for some reason the FreeLibrary is reached when it
was not before the above commit.
A +relay trace shows also a NtSetContextThread involved,
which got modified by above commit.

One on the "installation options" on Gentoo is 'splitdebug'.
It allows to keep debug symbols in separate files (and potentially keep them
compressed). gdb supports it (AFAICT) seamlessly. While addr2line doesn't seem
to supports it, the one from elfutils does.
I don't know where Gentoo got the idea, but given gdb and elfutils, it's likely
more wide-spread than Gentoo family.
So, would you consider adding support for it in winedbg ?

missing window decorations in virtual desktop
When I set the size of the virtual desktop so that it matches my desktop
resolution (1440X900 in my case) then the opening movie as well as the main
menu of the game appears without window decorations/window borders.
This occurs since commit 790133e95036597092443b30c0fe0aa6a40a9167.
This commit has the side effect that the patch from Zhiyi Zhang which is
intended to fix bug #55810 simply doesn't work. Bug #55810#c14
To reproduce the problem in Celtic Kings demo:
1. set up a VD that matches your desktop resolution
2. run the demo

Because it only happens on w1064v2009 [1], it is unlikely that the server

Bve trainsim is a freeware game for Windows. It simulates train driving.
Using Wine 9.0-rc2, it doesn't show its logo in the main window.
However, the logo is shown with Wine 8.0.2.
Steps to reproduce:
1) make a new prefix with wineboot and install Wine Mono.
2) mkdir ${WINEPREFIX-~/.wine}/drive_c/works
3) cd $_
4) unzip bvets5-7.zip
5) cd BveTs5
6) wine BveTs.exe
7) choose display language, English or Japanese (First time only)
8) close "Select scenario" window to show "Bve trainsim" window.
Expected result:
The window shows the logo in green.
Actual result:
The window is painted all gray, and no logo is displayed.
Moreover, if you install native d3dx9_43, you can enjoy train operation by
scenario files. Cab instruments and scenery are not displayed when the logo is
not displayed.

terminal output
Audio never worked in the game without native directmusic and this has not
changed with the more complete directmusic implementation in recent Wine.
The problem is that the game runs out of memory in about 15 seconds just while
idling in the main menu.
Some kind of memory leak first appeared in Wine-8.18 after
commit 7a678903fbe9b384e97b23bc8cb73c9239616054
dmime: Implement IDirectMusicPerformance_GetNotificationPMsg.
It was less severe and allowed me to play the tutorial for a couple minutes
then the game quit abruptly. For example I can see in htop that the memory
consumption of Celtic Kings.exe grows steadily whenever I issue a move command
for my character.
In Wine-8.19 the issue became more severe: the game runs out of memory in 10-15
seconds while idling in the main menu when music is enabled (no user
interaction is needed).
This is due to
commit d5e156fa7fc9ff47c1c99af342047319f0f23bfa
dmime: Rewrite message thread with a condition variable.

Long story short, up to wine 8.8 you get about 2300fps with my 2080 and 9600K
in an old nvidia showcase. After that, it's more like 2150.
Of course it's just a little 7% difference, but it's completely reproducible,
so..
p.s. DXVK and the patch for bug 32323 are also needed to "unlock full speed"
(the sources clearly show a D3DXCreateFont call for Arial, but is it expected
to take a 40% framerate hit without the fonts otherwise?)

It's something that's bugging me for a good while, and is also being mentioned
in the AppDB article for the game. As I said there it can be "worked around" by
using the commercial cedega software, which has other minor problems too, but
nothing compared to the slowness under wine.
1. download the free client using bittorrent:
http://torrent.funcom.com/torrents/AnarchyOnline_17.6.1_EP0.exe.torrent
2. register a free account: http://register.funcom.com/
3. Start the game, talk to the neutral recruiter at the island and take the
Wompah (teleporter) to Borealis, which will leave you in complete graphical
laggyness.
You can also notice the laggyness at the Unicorn Outpost (needs paid expansion
content), playershops in the guild cities (paid content too), and a few more
places. All of these places are frequently used by the players and visiting
them is a major pain of course, but as they're the central places in game, you
can't really get around on the long run.
It's not my system causing the lag though, as it works fine with the cedega
software.
Specs are:
Athlon X2 5000+
2Gb Ram
GeForce 8600GT@256MB
400GB WD harddisk
16MBit/s internet connection

My environment is macOS 12.2 on an M1 MacBook Air (Late 2020) running x86-64
wine64 through Rosetta 2 (to run on arm64).
Most notably, the line "0040:err:system:update_display_cache failed to read

versions. The app appears in the Dock, but a window does not visually appear at
all.

I'm on Ubuntu 20.04, installed winehq-staging 5.10 from WINE PPA. I'm trying to

Unfortunately, every attempt at running pandora.exe fails with an old Windows
window and the following text:
```
Can't find file for package 'HXAudio'
UEngine::InitAudio <- UGameEngine::Init <- InitEngine
```
There is a HXAudio.dll file in the game's root directory, and when running a
WINEDEBUG=+loaddll I see that WINE attempts to load it but then it is
immediately unloaded:

There is virtually no information about anything called "HXAudio" apart from
two old forum entries [1] [2] basically stating that there is a problem,
without any hint for a solution.

It says that "yywrap" is an undefined reference.
This probably happens because the macro.lex.l is not aware of the fact that is
can be also cross compiled, which is the thing you have to do when you want to
run wine natively on Windows, for example.
At the end of the file there is an #ifndef yywrap ... #endif: I replaced it
with an #if 1 and the program has been compiled correctly. But I guess it has
to be fixed correctly.
Sincerely.

Summary: Potential nullpointer dereference in
wow64_NtQueryInformationToken (Coverity)
Product: Wine
Version: 9.0-rc3
Hardware: x86-64

Severity: normal
Priority: P2

Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org

In wow64_NtQueryInformationToken we have the following code:
> dacl32->DefaultDacl = dacl->DefaultDacl ? PtrToUlong( dacl32 + 1 ) : 0;
> memcpy( dacl32 + 1, dacl->DefaultDacl, ret_size - sizeof(*dacl) );
I think memcpy might actually work will nullpointers, although it doesn't seem
right.

Summary: Huijia USB Gamepad gets detected incorrectly as Huijia

Product: Wine

Huijia USB Gamepad gets detected incorrectly as Huijia SNES Controller. In
addition to the name being incorrect, the mappings are incomplete AND
incorrect.
- joystick axes acts as if it's a D-PAD (as if it's a SNES controller)
- the c-buttons do not seem to do anything at all
- the d-pad does not seem to do anything at all
- the A, B, START, L, R, Z buttons seem to work
vs in wine-5.4
- joystick axes act as 2 joystick axes, X and Y
- the c-buttons work (they are detected as separate axes ABS_Z and ABS_RZ in
jscal i wish I knew if this was correct or not, imho they probably should be
buttons)
- the d-pad works
- all buttons work
Additional notes:
This is a usb n64 gamepad adapter I have used for a long time in wine
successfully, and admittedly have been sticking to an old wine version (wine
5.4) to ensure stability. There's been a lot of work related to input between
now and wine 5.4 so there's a myriad of nuance differences amongst versions. I
am highlighting 5.4 as the only version that gets it totally correct for this
controller/and controller adapter
I have verified in jscal and evdev-joystick that all buttons are registering in
the controller properly both in /dev/input/event%d and /dev/input/js%d
I'm happy to investigate more if someone can nudge me in a direction.

Bejeweled 3 starts @800x600 resolution and I can't enable 3D acceleration.
In the options screen when I try to enable hardware acceleration I receive
this:
"3D cannot be enabled on this computer. Your video card does not meet the
minimum requirements for this game."
In the registry, under 'HKCU\Software\SteamPopCap\Bejeweled3\Test3D' there is
the key 'FailureReason'. It contains the string: 'Alpha blend Not Supported'
I don't see anything suspicious in the terminal output.
The problem occurs since 9.0-rc1 and reverting commit
5b60f4649b15efb9ef10b63da3ef2c42f8665078
allows the game to use 3d acceleration again.

Hi,
I try to launch the game bought on GoG - I use Wine 6.16 without extern patch -
The game crashes after the Intro video with these error message :

It's a 32bits game, Wine is not patched with LARGE ADRESS AWARE override
support findable on TKG github. Instead, i used 4GB_patch from
https://ntcore.com/?page_id=371.
Without success, the game still crashed. I tried to use wined3d vulkan renderer
than opengl and same problem.
The full output console is attached.

so the virtual positions of interactive elements are shifted, i.e. The input

Ever since 8.18~jammy-1 update several VSTs have an issue with mouse cursor
being invisible until window is resized once. Though this may not always be
possible or easy to accomplish.
With my setup following plugins no longer work satisfactory
- Arturia MS-20
- Arturia Acid V
- XLN XO
Issue can be replicated with this plugin (free demo available, registration
required).
https://www.arturia.com/products/software-instruments/acid-v/overview
Latest release (8.21~jammy-1) does not help the issue.

When inside houses all sounds seem to have a strange echo, most noticeable when
talking to NPCs.
Everything works fine throughout the tutorial, even the part that's happening
inside the fort, until the player reaches Riverwood. When talking to NPCs
inside houses there's a huge echo.
These reddit posts seem to be describing the same issue.
https://www.reddit.com/r/linux_gaming/comments/hp0w6k/skyrim_voice_dialogue…https://www.reddit.com/r/linux_gaming/comments/uyh5hq/skyrim_se_voices_echo…
As recommended in those posts I tried to use native xaudio2_7 library. I also
tried installing faudio through winetricks but there was no change.
Installing xact made no difference either.
All changes were tried on a fresh prefix.
---
OS: Fedora 35
Audio: Pulseaudio 15 (not using pipewire currently but others reported same
issue with pipewire as well)
Wine version: 7.9 (Staging)
---
I also tried downgrading wine to version 6.16-1 and I lost all voice audio on a
fresh prefix. I got voice audio back when I installed faudio but the same echo
issue was back.
Since installing faudio resolved this issue for other people in the past I also
tried installing earliest version of faudio in the repos (faudio1901) but the
echo is still there.
Last thing to mention, this issue is only affecting Skyrim Special Edition at
the moment. Vanilla Skyrim voices work fine.

This is problem - if only for the fact that once started you can't really exit
out of the character creation process without forceably terminating the
application. We really need to be able to type the name to exit this point in
the game.
If new users can't create a character they won't be able to help in
troubleshooting bug (#12964) which is needed to get in-game.

default format), it fails with this error message:
SAVING ERROR
An unknown error has occurred. (6-04)
Steps to reproduce:
- play a game (easiest way is via Play: Training: Practice vs. AI: Casual)
- after the game is over, return to the main menu

- click history tab (top edge)
- click highlights tab (left edge)

logs and outputs
Hi,
According to Mr Bartosz Kosiorek, I should leave this bu tracking info here :
I read previous comments about installing and running sketchup 2023 under wine.
It installed properly (ignoring warning and installing all languages) and I
even got to log with my licence.
But all screens are black, and solutions like /DisableRubyAPI won't do
anything. Plus I think I need Ruby running for the extensions.
I ran with a log, but I don't kno whcich error I shall address nor how to
investigate.
Could you please havbe a look on my log and advice me ?
Thank you in advance
Ps
wine --version ==> wine-8.0.1 (Ubuntu 8.0.1~repack-3ubuntu2)
Logs are attached

Summary: SORCERY JOKERS (Trial) doesn't run (due to lack of

SORCERY JOKERS (Trial) is a demo version of Japanese visual novel game. It
doesn't run due to lack of virtual memory.
When I start the application, it shows "DirectDraw Error".
Console output shows:
wgl:init_opengl Failed to load libGL: libGL.so.1: cannot open shared object
file: No such file or directory
Of course, I have libGL.so.1 in /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/mesa.
strace(1) give me a hint:
open("/etc/ld.so.cache", O_RDONLY|O_CLOEXEC) = 16
fstat64(16, {st_mode=S_IFREG|0644, st_size=151363, ...}) = 0
mmap2(NULL, 151363, PROT_READ, MAP_PRIVATE, 16, 0) = -1 ENOMEM (Cannot allocate
memory)
Therefore, the process can't find out libGL.so.1.
