In case of timeout the first failure is always present but the second one may
not.
This happens on Windows 7 and Windows 10 1507, 1607 and 21H2 (with a much
higher frequency on the latter fgtb-w10pro64 VM). The other Windows VMs don't
seem to be impacted so it is likely that the timeout is caused by other BITS
activity (Windows Defender or Edge updates for instance) which interfere or not
depending on the amount to download and timing of the global WineTest run.

Terminal output using xorg
During game over game captures current screen and displays it in "Game Over"
screen. On Xorg everything works exactly as it should on Windows 7. Switching
to Wayland leads to screen capturing issue, where instead of expected game
screen a lot of noise and artefacts are captured. Game stores that screen in
separate file, so it is quite easy to see capture results.
Is this related to Wayland security issues, as capturing screen is not as easy
as on Xorg?

As game launcher is partially in Japanese, here are the instructions how to
configure controls to use directional pad:
- Run game launcher `action_mogura.exe`.
- Press "Key Config" button.
- In top right dropdown select second option to select gamepad instead of
keyboard.
- In second dropdown (top left) select "joypad1"
- Check the checkbox "POV入力を使用する" (use POV input, i.e. use D-PAD)
- Select action buttons
- Click "OK" and "RUN" to start the game and check if DPAD works. Going to menu
is enough to see if up/down controls are working.

Summary: RuneScape 3 : Game Crashes with page fault

--> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=72830
backtrace provided by wine itself
After installing the game, the game will randomly crash with page fault, as per
the attached file.
Some valuable mentions :
- I'm using i3wm, so, for some testings I've added some workspace assignments
to avoid "BadWindow" error.
- Sometimes the page fault occurs at the address 0xFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF instead of
0x0000000000000000 . Depending on the wine version being used.
- For some versions of wine, I got the error "corrupted double-linked list".
- For some versions of wine, I got the error "double free" related do malloc (I
don't remember exactly the error message, but the default one when you try to
call free() twice).
- Wine custom version lutris-7.2-2-x86_64 lasts longer in-game before crashing.
- I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the graphics, because :
1. It lasts longer before crashing if you set graphics to min value
2. It crashes when attempting to increase the graphic settings in-game
- It STILL crashes on min graphics
- I got "malloc(): unsorted double linked list corrupted" after 20 mins
in-game, for example.
Related to "Compatibility Mode":
- "BadWindow" error still occurs in compatibility mode even when trying to set
a global regex. After checking by monitoring windows' names I had noticed that
it tries to open an unnamed window that may be the cause.
- Even when the "BadWindow" error does not occur in Compatibility mode I got
only black-screen/crash in-game.
System :
- Wine staging 7.14 (winehq mirror -
https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/debian/dists/)
- Lutris to enable DXVK, VKD3D and D3D extras.
- Debian testing
- Kernel 5.18.0-9.1-liquorix-amd64
- amdgpu (POLARIS 10)
- Program https://content.runescape.com/downloads/windows/RuneScape-Setup.exe
```sh
sha1sum RuneScape-Setup.exe
bee061914639601d7e602f9653f883bdac7da3a1 RuneScape-Setup.exe
```
PS : if you're wondering why using it instead of the native client... well...
dxvk gets up to 5x more FPS (twice as dx native) and the latency is a lot
better (at the native client it feels like 400ms of input lag). That's why.

The 3 crash modes all started happening at about the same time and seem to all
still be happening. So it is likely they all have the same cause.
The first Windows crash happened on 2022-07-05 and crashes are rare enough to
not happen every day. So it is possible that the crashes are caused by the
patch that fixed the Wine crashes (see bug 53201).

These failures can be reproduced on cw-rx46-1909, wc-gtx560-1909 and the
TestBot's w1064v1909:
https://test.winehq.org/data/patterns.html#conhost.exe:tty
They don't happen on Windows 10 1809 and lower because the test detects that
conhost.exe is broken there:
tty.c:1645: Tests skipped: Skipping tty output tests on broken Windows version
And the test succeeds on Windows 10 >= 2004 (or rather has unrelated failures).
So it looks like 1909 fell between the cracks and that the test should skip too
somehow.

Pegasus Mail is a critical program that I use on my only windows 98, and am
looking to move to complete linux. The regular email via port 25 and 110 seem
to work fine, but with accounts like gmail, one must use secure ports 995 and
465. Attempts to do this result in no trace file. I'm not clear if and how
these ports need to be activated in wine, or if some dll needs to be added.
There isn't any error message, it just fails with no trace information
available.

Total War Shogun 2 uses the D3DX_FILTER_BOX filter to downscale it's textures.
Both during normal usage, but more critically, when it's VRAM budget is low or
over-committed.
This can be seen on Intel GPUs in the game's stderr output with a line similar
to:
---snip---
** Downsizing Textures, Over Budget by : 115 Mb
---snip---
Followed by (in wine-7.12 or older) or prior (in wine-7.13 or later) multiple
fixmes:
---snip---
0024:fixme:d3dx:D3DXLoadSurfaceFromMemory Unhandled filter 0x5.
---snip---
See also the attached log from wine-7.13.
As this filter is used for memory management in a 32bit game, it's
implementation would help alleviate some OOM errors.

Console log of error on wine-7.13 with MR483 (upstreamed in wine-7.14) applied.
This bug is split from Bug #53372, and is about the non-fatal out of memory
errors.
The comments in the mentioned bug go into greater detail, (in particular,
comments 2 and 4), but to summarize it here:
The game will occasionally generate an non-fatal out of memory error during a
return to the campaign map from a battle. When this occurs, the game will
continue to run as normal, but slower due to the constant spewing of
GL_FRAMEBUFFER_INCOMPLETE_ATTACHMENT errors to the console on every frame.
This error did not occur before wine-7.13, and Bug #53372 was the initial
suspect. However after fixing it, and working around Bug #53428 which was also
introduced in wine-7.13, the non-fatal OOM error remains in current wine.
I have a WINEDEBUG=+d3d,+d3d9,+opengl,+wgl,+seh log of this bug occurring for
those that are interested, however due to it's size, it cannot be posted here
on winehq. As the total compressed size is 1229.2 MiB.
The game is cognizant of it's memory usage, and it will attempt to stay within
a memory budget. Due to Bug # however, it's not always successful.

1. Download the installer for Cheat Engine 7.4 from
https://github.com/cheat-engine/cheat-engine/releases/download/7.4/CheatEng…
2. Run the installer (if it fails you might be missing ntlm_auth and gnutls

hack
After installing it throws up a message : "Central has encountered a system
permissions issue"
Below part of the console output
File "pybatch\fileSystemBatchCommands.py", line 646, in __call__
pywintypes.error: (1336, 'AddAccesAllowedAce', 'Invalid ACL.')
[1536] Failed to execute script instl
The attached hack makes the error go away and let`s me reach the login-screen.
Maybe the hack is wrong, i don`t know how to test, but it looks like the error
is coming from the code line
if (!RtlFirstFreeAce(pAcl, &pAceHeader) return STATUS_INVALID_ACL;
because when I change it to return STATUS_INVALID_PARAMATER it stops with:
File "pybatch\fileSystemBatchCommands.py", line 646, in __call__
pywintypes.error: (87, 'AddAccesAllowedAce', 'Invalid parameter.')
After changing it to STATUS_ALLOTTED_SPACE_EXCEEDED the issue is gone, and i
get to the loginscreen
I don`t know how to test returncode, hopefully someone familiar with this piece
of code can pick this up

After starting Sigma Data Center it connects to the Sigma Cloud to download all
synchronised data. With version 7.12 it never seems to make a connection. The
Sigma cloud sync symbol just spins for ever.
Reverting wine to version 7.11 makes everything work again with Sigma Data
Center.
Changed forward and back several times and confirmed that 7.12 fails while 7.11
works with no problems.
With 7.12 if you log out of Siogma Cloud and press the button to log back in
you get a blank screen with no login user name / password boxes. Reverting back
to 7.11 and the Sigma login screen is visible again.
My OS is Arch Linux. Currently I have hekd the version of wine to 7.11
Let me know what information from which files I should provide to help with
investigating this.

My apologies, I am afraid I cannot be more specific about this issue as I
haven't a clue what the conditions are for it to be happening, I notice this in
Metasequoia 3.1.6 whenever I want to fill in a manual number in a scale or
rotation, this would normally spawn a small dialogue window, but since WINE 7.7
this is maximised and cannot be scaled down, it works fine in WINE 7.6 but WINE
7.7, 7.8 and 7.9 have this issue.
Product:
http://metaseq.net/en/download.html , click the "click here" link at the bottom
of the page and scroll down to the 3.1.6 ZIP download, it is a paid product but
you can run it for free with limited features
How to reproduce:
Open the executable, select whichever language if you have not already, then on
the left panel click either button "Scale" or "Rot", and in the dialogue that
just spawned click the button labeled "Number", this will open up another
dialogue which is affected by this bug.

Expected behavior:
Reconnecting with a DGRAM socket (specifically UDP) should not fail
Observed behavior:
Reconnecting fails with WSAEISCONN
Breaking commit and change:
https://github.com/wine-mirror/wine/commit/3b33a6b4873d2d75418c298880766f63…
Both Windows and Linux kernels implement this correctly, with wine being the
sole divergence. SockDoConnect in mswsock.dll shows the logic flow, SOCK_STREAM
should fail with WSAEISCONN, but SOCK_DGRAM should not.

The D3D 11 renderer for Elder Scrolls Online is almost working with the latest
Wine version. The only issue I'm see now are missing textures, and these
related error/fixme messages:
err:d3d:wined3d_debug_callback 0x15c2400: "GL_INVALID_OPERATION in
glUseProgram(program 15 not linked)".
fixme:d3d:context_bind_shader_resources Shader 0x7ff6c9ae0b70 needs 21
samplers, but only 16 are supported.
I've attached the terminal output as a compressed file since it was 35MB
uncompressed.
I have a patch that I will attach as well that fixes the problem -- but is
probably a hack. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will know of a proper
solution.

I'm running apitrace, which has no access to the internet and works only
locally.
When using Wine 5.0, I'm not getting any warnings, so I assume no process tried
to communicate over IP.
With winehq-stable wine, I'm getting this warning:
```
002c:err:winediag:getaddrinfo Failed to resolve your host name IP
```
I assume it's not critical, but WINE seems to try to do something beyond what
is needed.
I'm looking at changes here:

I'm not seeing anything obvious.

What I know so far is when changing the hosts file entry for

at the splash screen. When removing the entry, the game will start with a
GameGuard error. maybe this information will help someone here.

This can result in subtle failures down the line. In my case it resulted in a
variation on bug 52508.
This was a huge game of "any one of you should have screamed an error condition
at me, but you didn't", and as a result this took me several hours to debug.
Kind of annoyed at that one.
Anyway, the root of the problem is that we reserve almost the entire address
space. We reserve everything above 0x80000000 because we don't want win32
memory to get mapped there, and we reserve the entire range between
0x00010000-0x68000000 for... some reason?
And for me, this doesn't leave enough space to load everything that the Vulkan
driver needs. The final straw was a failure to reserve 27 MiB for
libicudata.so.
Normally this isn't a problem, because we release the low area, but all of this
happens during DLL initialization (winex11.drv.so specifically), and we don't
release the low area until after all DLLs are attached.

Log of Wolcen - Wine 2.17 Staging (~14mb unpacked)
Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem is a Steam-hosted DX11 game, using CryEngine.
As the DX11 implementation has been improved in Wine, the graphics stopped
working at some point after Wine 2.3.
I have attached a log file which may indicate well enough about the root reason
of the issue (Should I still run a regression test?)
Wine complains *a lot* about the following:
err:d3d:wined3d_debug_callback 0x1b309e40: "GL_INVALID_ENUM error generated.
Invalid primitive mode.".
P.S. There are already an open ticket for corrupted graphics in this game (bug
42729), but this issue is about "No graphics at all". GUI graphics (menus etc.)
are still okay.
I guess this bug must be resolved after getting into bug 42729.

root cause of bug 46089 (" TopoEdit tool from Windows 10 SDK (10.0.17763.x)

Sling TV terminal output
I installed the Windows-7-and-up version of Sling TV's channel-watching app.
(there's also the Win10-only app, but I'm not sure if that's even a win32api
program)
Upon running it, it just brings up a black window and crashes. Doesn't even get
as far as prompting me to login or showing the list of channels.

This has been a headache of an issue for a while now and has been one of the
reasons why it has been so hard for me and many others to fully switch to
Linux.
The Roblox Studio is a poorly optimized application to begin with, however, I
didn't expect it to run this poorly on Linux compared to Windows. I have tried
using different renderers such as DXVK and DX11 and found that Vulkan has the
best performance for me. OpenGL basically doesn't work all together with menus
being basically broken.
This bug is a bit hard to show on any sort of video, so I'll try to describe it
as best as I can. There are a lot of bugs with the Roblox Studio application.
Some of which being slow loading menus, typing with the script editor being
poor, and insanely slow load times.
One of the biggest annoyances is play testing which is somewhat okay during the
first run-through but after stopping the performance of the Studio application
becomes abysmal.
The bigger the game is, the less performant the Studio is and the more often
these bugs occur (to be expected).
If there is something else I can supply to help with fixing this long-standing
issue please let me know.

The Playground Sessions piano teaching app crashes during startup before the

My Environment:
CPU - x86_64
O/S - Fedora 36 - Kernel 5.18.5-200.fc36.x86_64
Wine - wine-7.10 (Staging)
Playground Sessions - Version 2.5 (Their only version)
The problem started after a fresh install of Fedora 36 that brought wine to
version 7.10-staging. Tried restoring the old .wine directory from backup as
well as a fresh download/install of Playground Sessions.
The program can be downloaded here.
https://www.playgroundsessions.com/windows
The software is proprietary and subscription-based, but it crashes well before
the authentication screen is presented.
I first reported this last year as Bug 52290 and it was closed as fixed. It
looks like something within WINE may have changed and broke it again.
Playground Sessions still working with WINE on Fedora 35, kernel
5.16.16-200.fc35.x86_64 and WINE 7.2(Staging)

When Condor 2 is launched, 3 windows are opened (see screen1.png):
- a Condor2 icon
- a Condor2 main windows (let call it the "parent window")
- a "child window" (flight lesson, activation, setup, free flight... depending
on the requested user action). I call it "child window "since it is related to
the parent window. The child window must be closed, for the parent window to
get focus and the user to select a new action.
It's worst noting that the child window it partly above and partly under its
parent window!
My first issue is that the once you click outside the child window , it
disappear under its parent window. As the parent window can't be moved, you are
not able to reselect the child window. The only solution is to kill Condor2.exe
task.
My second and related issue is for flight when trying a lesson. The border of
the "child window" is always visible during flight. Surprisingly, I tried to
make a screen copy, but this border is not present on it (look like the image
is composed of layer, only some being copied!)

Every time you launch Condor 2 and want to use a purchased glider, you have to
enter the activation code number twice :
- click on "activate" button in the desired glider page
- enter the code number in the child window, press "ok"
- the child window closes but the glider is not activated
- click on "activate" button again
- the child window appears, the number is already there, press "ok"
- the child window closes and this time, the glider is activated
It remains activated until you closes Condor 2. Then he forgets.
Aforementioned procedure is a viable workaround but you have to keep codes on
your desk.

For some reason I would find useful to run Windows version of Visual Studio
Code in Wine. It works in 7.13, the only prerequisite is "winetricks arial" and
d3dcompiler_47 set to native.
However, there is a random input latency (both mouse and keyboard) that makes
it hardly usable.
Keyboard: in file editor press space, the space is inserted after ~0.5 - 1s.
Mouse: click on menu, the action is performed after some time or when the mouse
is moved again.
This latency is not CPU-related. Opening some other windows (such as
Extensions) may be a workaround for a while.

There is a number of issues with the Header:
* on the side where Header overlaps ListView, corners of a ListView window are
visible. It gives an impression that Header items are painted a little too
tall, and offset;
* when regedit window is resized so that right side goes past rightmost header
item border, and then resized back, there is a visible trail of old repainted
divider. Forcing window repaint clears that glitch, until you resize it again.

see Steve's signature.
If at any time WINE displays a DISABLED CONTROL -- a disabled
button, checkbox, radio button -- from then on until the application is
terminated, WINE incorrectly calculates the display length of on-screen text.
It believes that text is displaying SHORTER than it actually is. So it then
mis-wraps text, draws adjoining lines incorrectly, and truncates
fields.

Created attachment 72727
--> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=72727
trace+secur32,warn+secur32 and GNUTLS_DEBUG_LEVEL=11
I use Wine devel 7.12 from the winehq repos and winetricks 20220411 from
github.
Context: I am trying to run the "HPE Lights-Out Standalone Remote Console"
(HPLOCONS.exe,
https://support.hpe.com/connect/s/softwaredetails?language=en_US&softwareId…)
to connect to an iLO 3 interface of an HP ProLiant server.
iLO 3 only supports legacy ciphers (3DES, RC4). Because the Wine schannel
implementation uses GnuTLS, I added an override config like so:
sudo mkdir -p /etc/gnutls
sudo tee /etc/gnutls/config_hplocons <<EOF
[overrides]
default-priority-string = NORMAL:+3DES-CBC:+ARCFOUR-128
EOF
Then I set up a wine prefix like so:
env WINEARCH=win32 WINEPREFIX=~/.local/share/wineprefixes/hplocons wineboot
--init
env WINEARCH=win32 WINEPREFIX=~/.local/share/wineprefixes/hplocons winetricks
-q dotnet471 d3dcompiler_47 corefonts fontfix winver=
wget
https://downloads.hpe.com/pub/softlib2/software1/pubsw-windows/p390407056/v…
env WINEARCH=win32 WINEPREFIX=~/.local/share/wineprefixes/hplocons wine
Setup.exe
And successfully run HPLOCONS:
env WINEARCH=win32 WINEPREFIX=~/.local/share/wineprefixes/hplocons
WINEDEBUG=trace+secur32,warn+secur32
GNUTLS_SYSTEM_PRIORITY_FILE=/etc/gnutls/config_hplocons GNUTLS_DEBUG_LEVEL=11
LC_ALL=C wine start 'C:\Program Files\Hewlett Packard Enterprise\HPE iLO
Integrated Remote Console\HPLOCONS.exe'
When trying to connect to iLO, I get "The request was aborted: Could not create
SSL/TLS secure channel." The trace logs and gnutls debug logs (attached) show
that schan_create_session() in dlls\secur32\schannel_gnutls.c ignores my
priority string override and instead, uses "NORMAL" without TLS 1.3
ciphersuites.
A look at the source code confirms that schan_create_session() does indeed not
incorporate the system defaults.
Also note that process_attach() sets GNUTLS_SYSTEM_PRIORITY_FILE to "/dev/null"
if it was unset, which has the consequence that everything in the default
/etc/gnutls/config file is always ignored.
I further confirmed that this is a Wine issue by running gnutls-cli:
# Succeeds
env GNUTLS_SYSTEM_PRIORITY_FILE=/etc/gnutls/config_hplocons gnutls-cli
--insecure <iLO-IP>
# Fails with "Received alert [40]: Handshake failed"
gnutls-cli --insecure <iLO-IP>
To be able to run legacy applications, I think Wine should respect GnuTLS
overrides. I attached an untested patch proposal. Note that this patch does not
change behaviour if the default priority string is "NORMAL". Also note that
Wine would require gnutls 3.6.3 due to the use of
gnutls_set_default_priority_append().
Perhaps check_supported_protocols() should also be patched in a similar way.

Since the import of FAudio Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 1 (GOG version)
triggers the following FAudio assertion since the import of FAUDIO in commit
6b45777121fcd50d9b7d5b649c6710063b549892 already on the title screen while
highlighting or selecting a menu entry
Assertion failed: (voice->src.wmadec != NULL && (pBufferWMA != NULL ||

(voice->src.wmadec == NULL && (pBufferWMA == NULL &&
voice->src.format->wFormatTag != FAUDIO_FORMAT_XMAUDIO2)
), file libs/faudio/src/FAudio.c, line 2456
Note that this assertion was changed in the import of FAudio 21.12 in
da89825f98e4f0cb3875735345a455512b36b665 (erronously declared as import of
21.11), without effect on this game (contrary to what
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=50757#c2 claims). There is still no
sound in 7.0-rc5 (and reverting babaf916ab12c7a9128409f717878919ccc5826b which
hides the assertion shows it still triggering the extended assertion
condition).
Sound works before 6b45777121fcd50d9b7d5b649c6710063b549892 (also see
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=50416 for caveats).
Unfortunately 6b45777121fcd50d9b7d5b649c6710063b549892 suffers from frequent
crashing already on the title screen (haven't tested ingame; might be the same
as https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=50757; despite it claiming to be
fixed with exactly that commit; afaict nobody ever confirmed it being fixed) .
Fortunately this crashing seems to be fixed or at least much reduced with
7.0-rc5 on my (very old and slow) system.
Sound works fine in 7.0-rc5 after winetricks xact and manually setting
xactengine3_7 to native.
Not sure about the relation to this bug, but 7.0-rc5 is showing the following
error whenever the game attempts to play a sound

Summary: --without-mingw builds on Mac can't unwind exceptions

I am trying to get a non-mingw build on MacOS to run my games to get debug
symbols for Wine DLLs in Instruments for performance profiling. One of the
issues I ran into is that SEH exceptions thrown in the PE side of our code
can't be handled. Wine runs into further nested exceptions trying to unwind the
stack and crashes.
This is a regression introduced by the following commit:
264bd4fc84020f217807f1e59d3bfa9302e5110c is the first bad commit
commit 264bd4fc84020f217807f1e59d3bfa9302e5110c

wine/asm.h: Don't define __ASM_CFI when using clang as cross compiler.
Reverting this commit on top of Wine 7.10 fixes this particular problem.
Getting a Wine build like this is a bit tricky. clang does not support
-mabi=ms, and gcc can't build winemac.drv because of Apple-isms in the system
headers that Apple never upstreamed to FSF gcc. (But they did have it in their
own gcc before they switched to clang).
To get a non-mingw gcc'ish Wine I do roughly the following:
1) Use wine-7.10, not master, there is yet another regression since then
2) Install gcc-11 with homebrew
3) ~/wine/configure --enable-win64 --without-x --without-mingw --disable-tests
CC=gcc-11
4) Build the thing
5) Edit Makefile, replace CC = gcc-11 with CC = clang
6) cd into dlls/winemac.drv, run make
7) optionally do the same in dlls/winecoreaudio.drv
8) optionally undo the Makefile changes if you plan to recompile e.g. ntdll
The game in question is Rocket League; That adds extra troubles with Steam (32
bit, so needs Mojave). I think the problem is independent of Rocket League
though. The exception causing the crash is OutputDebugStringA. I don't think
the problem is specific to this game though.

Summary: Wireshark can't start capturing packets
Product: Wine
Version: 7.10
Hardware: x86-64

Status: UNCONFIRMED

Priority: P2

Patch for wpcap
While testing bug 53066 I just wanted to find out what would be needed to make
Wireshark working in Wine. There are two obvious problems:
1. pcap_create() doesn't translate interface identifier to the real name
2. pcap_dispatch() is not implemented
I fixed these problems, however, packet window still remains empty after
capture is started while the temporary capture file is filled with captured
packets. If this temporary file is later opened, Wireshark shows all packets
captured.
Attached is the patch if someone wants to push this further. "setcap
cap_net_raw,cap_net_admin=eip wine64-preloader" is needed to give Wine
permissions to capture packets.
