visual description of the bug
Using Wine-2.17-staging (csmt on or off, no difference)
As you can see in the attached picture, the floor doesn't render properly. The
LOD in the far seems fine, in the middle it doesn't show anything and very
close, it renders wrong, but it renders something.
The black walls you can see also render on Windows, they are hidden below the
map usually.

Starting The Sims 4 in stable and staging wine fails with a message about the
graphics card being unsupported.
The system has an intel HD 6000 which is in fact explicitly supported by Sims 4
so it sounds like possibly something with how Sims 4 is checking the vendor and
device IDs does not work well and leads to incorrect conclusions.

backtrace from minidump
Although it is not always reproducible, the crash occurs fairly often (8 times
out of 10 attempts) when I select <Restart> from the in-game menu. The Wine
debugger never starts, the game simply quits and it creates a minidump in the
game directory. There is nothing remarkable in the terminal before the crash.
Native d3dx9_43.dll is installed. No demo version is available.
According to my testing the problem was introduced by

I noticed this in
http://dlm.cypress.com.edgesuite.net/akdlm/downloadmanager/software/PSoCDes…
while looking at bug 31369, but it's also been reported in bug 28177 (and I
recall seeing it in some other applications, but I don't have a note of which
ones they were).
Native .Net via winetricks works around it. (dotnet20sp2 in the case of PSoC
Designer)

Black and White runs pretty well (some textures are black) up until completion
of the temple at which point it appears to hang. I've logged the entire run
from start to the hang. The apparent hang appears to be due to an exception,
specifically:

Unhandled exception: page fault on read access to 0xffffffff in 32-bit code

Terminal output
If the installer for the trial version of HTML-Kit Tools is run with Wine's
Windows version set to Windows 7, it produces an error dialog after creating
shortcuts:
IPropertyStore::SetValue failed, code 0x80004002
After this, the installer doesn't offer to start the program automatically, but
there appears to be no other impact on the installation. (That may not be
related to this message anyway for all I know.) This doesn't happen in
WinXP/Vista/2k mode.
This is a .NET app, but the installer doesn't seem to use it; behavior is the
same whether the .NET Framework is installed or not.

stub for srclient
Hi, a user reported failing installer on the forum:
https://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=30487
First it needs srclient, i add patch for stub dll here.
Then it still fails, it`s only happy if SRSetRestorePointA returns TRUE. This
might however cause regressions (?). I guess this needs more tests. Maybe we
could return TRUE and set nstatus to ERROR_SERVICE_DISABLED. But as said, needs
more tests

In Vista mode, Photoshop CS4's setup stops doing anything. The setup is

To get this far, need to workaround Bug 18070.

When using wine's gdiplus, Photoshop CS3's toolbars are completely broken (see

While photoshop cs3 is not easy to install currently (there is a bug that
prevents the setup from installing), there are workarounds to get the setup
going so it might be time to start fixing photoshop itself.

While running the application its memory usage slowly creeps up until it take
up all of the available physical memory. This appears to occur in both the 64

32-bit version as there's less memory available to it.)

I get very low fps, around 4 or 5 i would say. This renders the game
unplayable. Every animation in the game seems affected, even mouse movement is
not smooth.
This does not affect menus, the problem only appears once a game is launched.
The problem is still there with wine-1.1.7.
In case it might be useful, the video card used is Nvidia 8600M GT, with nvidia
drivers 177.80.

Backtrace from running the game in DirectX 9 mode
When launching Civilization V in DirectX 9 mode on a clean 32-bit Wine prefix,
it immediately crashes with a program error of "The program CivilizationV.exe
has encountered a serious problem and needs to close."
The launcher does work, as it allows me to choose between DirectX 9 and DirectX
11. Neither DX9 or DX11 launch and both cause the same error. This is a
regression since, if I roll back the Wine version to 2.19, it works without any
issues in DX9 mode. It also previously would open a window for DX11 before
crashing, but now it does not even get that far.
I'm testing this on Kubuntu 17.10, with a GTX 960 graphics card using the
binary NVIDIA driver. This issue persists in both regular Wine 3.6 and Wine
3.6-staging, and with the multi-threaded command stream both enabled and
disabled. The backtrace for both the DX9 and DX11 versions have been attached

I am using a "low" resolution monitor set at 1280x1024 and I have been setting
the dpi in winecfg to 128 otherwise the fonts are too small. With version 3.6,
however, the application still looks like it is set at 96 and changing the
value in winecfg has no effect.
The application is called Scrivener and it does have the ability to set the
font and size of the menu and other panes. It also has the ability to zoom on
the editor pane. Unfortunately, it now has to be set much higher than usual.
It should be noted that winecfg, task manager, etc do change. There was an
instance when the font did not change in these but I can't reproduce. It may
have happened when trying to upgrade an existing wineprefix.

2. With no exception in all windows associated to Wine, fonts' sizes are not
applied according to the size currently in use on Linux system, especially the
one which applies to interfaces (here set to Cantarell Regular 11). Window
title is Cantarell Bold 11. Wine persists to apply its own size set to
interfaces (probably size 7–8) regardless system set font sizes (Wine

For comparison system fonts apply normally to windows related Wineprefix itself
(Winetricks - current prefix is "-home-yk-.wine"_006.png).

Since the release wine-staging 2.0, diablo 3 is able to start in the 64bit

It is not without issues, yet, though.
Namely, the performance is really bad, on my machine (core i5, GTX 770) it
renders about 3 frames per second (whereas the 32bit version runs with >60
FPS). The rendering is not without issues, too. Characters look matte and dark,
very different look from the one one sees in the 32bit client.
I am attaching a log from my machine (Arch linux, 64bit, nvidia blob 375.26,

After a somewhat recent upgrade in Wine (don't remember from what version
though, but it was a very old one), I've been having problems with audio in
both JK and MotS, where sounds playing in-game will lower fps significantly and
sound very choppy.
In Jedi Knight, causing sounds to play continuously (say, by firing a very fast
gun right into a wall) will cause the framerate to drop drastically, from the
usual already very low average of 30fps to around 10fps. Needless to say, the
sound will become increasingly choppy the lower the framerate is. The problem
is less present but still there when playing the game without 3d Acceleration,
and the average FPS is a lot higher as well.
I normally use JACK audio with a Pulse Audio module, but having JACK on or off
doesn't seem to make any difference in game performance. Changing the Wine
audio driver to winealsa or winepulse also didn't have any noticeable
difference. I however did not experience any such performance drops when
running the game with Wine audio disabled.
Running from console won't cause any error or "fixme" messages to print when
choppiness happens.
In MotS the problem is even worse: audio choppiness happens in almost every
frame, leading to short freezes and overall complete unplayability. I believe
this might have something to do with the sample rate for the sounds in these
games: JK uses 22050Hz and MotS uses 11025Hz.
After resetting the ".wine" directory, overall performance seems much better
(still around 30fps, but far more stable), but the audio is still very choppy.

ddraw: Use offscreen backbuffers.
Before this patch the frame rate in the game menu (press Esc while in game) was
limited to <=60. Now the frame rate can reach hundreds. Behavior on Windows:
frame rate is limited at 60.
The reason I am reporting this: Shortly after opening the game menu there often
is a short but very noticeable phase where everything behaves sluggishly,
making it very hard to select the desired entry with the mouse.
The sluggishness/slowdown itself may not be a Wine bug since is not a problem
when I switch NVIDIA PowerMizer from its default "Adaptive" to "Prefer Maximum
Performance". That, however, is not an acceptable permanent solution on a
laptop. Sync to VBlank settings do not change the behavior.
So far I have only been able to observe the slowdown when running the game in
Direct3D mode, although the frame rate is now also unlimited when running in
DirectDraw mode. All observations have been made with Diablo II Lord of
Destruction 1.13c.

Rollcage Redux, Wine 2.18, full debug log (WINEDEBUG=+all)
Rollcage Redux doesn't start because Wine is looking for
$WINEPREFIX/drive_c/Program
Files/Psygnosis/Rollcage/IDXData/{Rollcage.idx,Rollcage.img} files from the
user's home directory.
I debugged the issue quite some time. If either of those files are missing from
user's home directory ($HOME/), the game just freezes during startup. Manually
putting those files to $HOME "fixes" the issue.
I have been able to reproduce the issue with Wine 1.9.24, 2.3 and 2.18, all
compiled from source. Error output is exactly the same.
Because I haven't been able to produce this error earlier on my system and due
to wide range of Wine versions used, I suspect that possibly some system
library file on my system may have had recent changes which break compatibility
with multiple Wine versions.
----------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------
I am using Arch Linux 64-bit. I can provide /var/log/pacman.log information if
needed.
I used a clean 32-bit wineprefix for testing. I did separate testing with POL,
too.
Though I am aware POL is not supported here, I think it's still better to
supply the following information anyway.
----------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------
POL testing
I am able to start the game on PlayOnLinux in some cases using precompiled Wine
POL versions & "system" version. Here are some highlights from POL testing:
1)
The game starts if I use PlayOnLinux and "system" Wine version, in this case
2.18 (no staging). However, this is true only if I use Intel HD4000 GPU instead
of Nvidia GTX 760M. I have an optimus laptop. With Nvidia, the game freezes and
is unable to open the game window. With Intel, the game starts.
2)
The game starts with Intel and Nvidia, if I use PlayOnLinux and precompiled POL
Wine 2.18 binaries. However, removing precompiled library files from
$HOME/.PlayOnLinux/wine/linux-x86/2.18/lib/ folder doesn't have any effect.
What I am trying to achieve is to force POL version of Wine to load system
libraries instead, narrowing down the issue as a result. However, I have been
unable to get satisfying outcome.
----------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------
The game is free and can be downloaded here:
http://www.codemonkey.me.uk/downloads/rollcageredux.exe
You need to extract that exe file with "/extract:" parameter because Wine can't
handle the Installshield wizard installation procedure correctly at the moment.
I have attached full debug log and short "log" files. No POL used for producing
these log files.

Summary: MidRadio Player doesn't send SysEx messages to the

OS: Linux

MidRadio Player is a MIDI player distributed by Yamaha Corporation. When I
choose an external MIDI port in the option dialog, it doesn't send System
Exclusive (SysEx) message at all.
How to setup:
1) Download MidRadio player from the above URL.
2) Install mr7211.msi using msiexec, i.e. wine msiexec /i mr7211.msi.
3) Follow the setup wizards (written in Japanese).
How to reproduce:
1) Create a virtual MIDI port by "amidi -p virtual -d"
2) In another terminal, chdir to the install directory and run MidRadio
palyer, i.e. "wine MidRadio.exe"
3) Click No (or Yes) for cooperation in quality improvement. (first start up
time only)
4) Choose the following menu item:
オプション(Option) - MIDI出力先の設定(Setup MIDI output)
5) In the dialog, choose MIDIデバイスを使う(Use MIDI device) and
pick up the virtual MIDI device port, e.g. "Client-129 - Virtual RawMIDI",
from the drop down list.
6) Click [OK] and close the dialog window.
7) Press Ctrl+O or choose the following menu item:
ファイル(File) - ファイルを開く(Open a file)
8) Select a MIDI file which contains SysEx message.
I tested with Free Sample MIDI Files for Yamaha GM and XG Keyboards[1].
9) Click 開く(Open), then MidRadio Player plays it.
Expected behavior:
- amidi's terminal window shows SysEx message, e.g. F0 7E 7F 09 01 F7 for GM
System On. Then, shows another MIDI message, Note On, Note Off, etc.
- No playback voice as we're using virtual port.
Actual behavior:
- amidi's terminal window doesn't show SysEx message. However, it shows
common MIDI message, Note On, Note Off, etc.
- No playback voice.

When "Windows Version" is set to "Vista" or later, date picker controls in
programs written using wxWidgets disappear because wxWidgets assumes that
DTM_GETIDEALSIZE is available in these Windows versions (see
https://github.com/wxWidgets/wxWidgets/blob/v3.1.1/src/msw/datetimectrl.cpp…),
but it isn't in Wine, so we just get "err:datetime:DATETIME_WindowProc unknown
msg 100f" on the console and the control is created with 0 size.
We could work around this in wx but, ideally, Wine should handle this message.
Even returning some hard coded size from it would be better than not handling
it at all.

I use wine to drive Outlook 2007 to produce automatically printed PDF files
from MSG files (created by Outlook 2007 under Windows) in a batch script under
linux.
For that I use cupspdf as default printer and call Outlook with the '/p' switch
and the respective file as the second argument.
I have implemented this script well before the 3.0 release. I think it is
running since more than one year. Initially I ran into the issue that Outlook
could not open an MSG file and spit out 'Cannot start Microsoft Office
Outlook'.
So currently I am working around that issue by firstly trying to open the MSG.
If above error is given, I convert the MSG file to an EML file via
http://search.cpan.org/dist/Email-Outlook-Message/
and then reconvert it back to MSG via:
https://labs.rebex.net/mail-converter
Usually, Outlook 2007 can then start and open the file correctly. So there is
already something not in order in view of parsing MSG files created by Outlook
itself.
This was before the update to wine 3.2
Since wine 3.2, no MSG file can be opened. Outlook always drops above error
message regardless if the MSG had been converted or not.
For now I have reverted back to wine 3.1 and everything works as it should.
However, something had been introduced, what breaks Outlook 2007.

System.IO.__Error.WinIOError at System.Xml.XmlReader.ReadToFollowing
Running the AutoWikiBrowser database scanner fails with "no access to memory
location" normally within seconds of scan starting.
Occurs on wine wine-1.8.1 and wine-1.7.39
To reproduce: export WINEARCH=win32
winetricks -q msxml3 dotnet35 corefonts gdiplus riched20 ie6
[Probably only dotnet35 is required for this testing]
download AutoWikiBrowser from http://sourceforge.net/projects/autowikibrowser/
choose latest version (5.8.5.1 at time of writing).
unzip AutoWikiBrowser and run wine AutoWikiBrowser.exe
choose Tools -> Database scanner
download a wikipedia database dump file from https://dumps.wikimedia.org/
browse to the database XML file
search based on title contains 'foo' or other option. Press Start.
Wait for scan to progress. Scan normally fails within seconds with "no access
to memory location" error (stack trace relating to C# XML reader attached).
The problem only intermittently occurs on smaller XML dump files (e.g. < 100 MB
uncompressed) but always occurs on large XML files.
Above process works without error under Mono version 4 on same machine (using
50 GB English wikipedia XML dump file) and of course on native Windows.
Possible further information/speculation:
I have written a simple single threaded console only .NET 2 exe that works
under same wine setup without this error on same machine. So I suspect that the
issue may be to do with multithreading: the AutoWikiBrowser scanner is
multithreaded, versions of the test console exe I wrote failed with same error
if I added multithreading.

work with wine. What's missing is a possibilty to give an application less

The game I am playing is called Puyo Puyo Tetris. This is it:
http://store.steampowered.com/app/546050/Puyo_PuyoTetris
Steps to reproduce:
1. Upgrade to wine-staging 3.5-1
2. Run game
Expected results: Background music and sound effects play and game does not
freeze.
Actual results: Sound effects play but background music does not. Game will
freeze sometimes (when it freezes, it will not recover from having frozen).
I include the "freezing" bit because I think it is related. Whenever the game
freezes, the terminal that I launched the program from shows this line:
00a7:err:ntdll:RtlpWaitForCriticalSection section 0x8438a8
"../../../wine-staging/dlls/xaudio2_7/xaudio_dll.c: IXAudio2Impl.lock" wait
timed out in thread 00a7, blocked by 00b6, retrying (60 sec)
The addresses are unpredictable, of course. The second time it happened, I got
the same error but with different addresses.
0082:err:ntdll:RtlpWaitForCriticalSection section 0x34dc7270
"../../../wine-staging/dlls/xaudio2_7/xaudio_dll.c: XA2SourceImpl.lock" wait
timed out in thread 0082, blocked by 0092, retrying (60 sec)
The problem seems related to https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=39517 ,
but the proposed fix does not work for me. That is, I tried installing
Microsoft's xaudio implementation
winetricks --force xact
but the problem persists after doing this (and restarting the game).
Downgrading to wine-staging 3.4-1 makes the problem go away.
Other info: I am running Arch Linux (Linux computer 4.15.15-1-ARCH #1 SMP
PREEMPT Sat Mar 31 23:59:25 UTC 2018 x86_64 GNU/Linux), Linux kernel 4.15.15-1.

Wine – snapshot effect issue
Description of problem: Once clicked onto the title bar of an application
emulated by Wine in order to enlarge its respective window, all the windows
already opened then on the same desktop, including the window of the
application whose title bar has been clicked on, are suddenly and for the
duration of the wine session set as part of the desktop active background
picture.
Version-Release number of selected component in Fedora 27:
wine-2.20-1.fc27.x86_64
Steps to Reproduce in terminal:
$ sudo dnf install -y wine
$ wget https://www.grc.com/files/DNSBench.exe
$ wine DNSBench.exe (alternatively click the respective execute file)
Actual results: Result is similar to a snapshot of the desktop background at a
definite time, which in that case corresponds to the time the operation of
clicking the title bar of an application emulated by Wine was accomplished.
As noticeable the width of the title bar of the emulated application's enlarged
window does not correspond to the width of enlarged window. See attachment.
Expected results: No snapshot effect. The width of the title bar of the
emulated application's enlarged window to correspond to the width of enlarged
window.

I downloaded and installed Warcraft III through iCCup's website.
When I run the program it starts and seems to be functionally ok, but the whole
screen/graphics has a significant flimmering effect in addition to being
completely misplaced/unproportionalized.

Still an issue as of Wine 3.5. The game doesn't crash on launch (which was an

described.

This is why there are different game versions. This big is not linked to the
new game version since it does not apply. But iccup still offers the best
custom game ladder experience, so it's useful to have that game version.
Using ddraw.dll workaround was useful to me by reading this thread.

It's a separate bug but it is related. This bug applies to the old battle.net.
Since 1.18+, all classic blizzard games connect to the "new" battle.net.
This should bug should be closed.
I only see this being useful for people playing old versions (1.16) with some
modified (eg Fish) server.

## Reproduce
1) Start `/opt/wine-staging/bin/wine Battlenet/Blizzard\ App/Battle.net\
Launcher.exe` & Launch Diablo 3
2) In-game:
Hold Shift-key (to force character not to move when clicking with mouse)
Hold Left Mouse Button down
## What should happen
The mouse button should keep down for as long as I actually hold the mouse
button down. In-game the character should stand still and channel a skill.
## Result
The game acts as if I released my hold of the mouse button and the character
stops channeling it's skill. This happens on every odd mouse-down.
In other words: the first time I hold down the Left Mouse Button everything
works as it should. The second time I hold down the the Left Mouse Button the
game thinks I released it after ~half a second even though I'm still physically
holding the mouse button down. Then on the third time it works as it should, on
the fourth time the button acts if it was released automatically. And the cycle
repeats.

Summary: Focus Problems with Tera
Product: Wine
Version: 1.7.24

Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org

Hi.
Using wine 1.7.24 32bit on x86_64.
Wine is configured to:
Automatically capture the mouse in full-screen
Allow the window manager to decorate the windows
Allow the window manager to control the windows
I play games in full sreen on a dual screen setup. The screen that I play on is
sitting to the right while my other screen is to the left.
The game that I play most of the time is Tera online, but I've seen these
problems other games as well.
1st Focus Problem
-----------------
After starting the game, the launcher pops up and I can login. When I press on
the play button; what should happen next is a splash screen pops up, then a
warning about not being able to exceed 4GB memory should pop up ontop of the
splash screen. I would then dismiss the warning and then the game should pop up
in front and I should be able to play.
What does happen is that the the splash screen, the warning screen and the game
itself are all thrown into the background. I need to alt-tab to the warning
screen before I can dismiss it. Then I need to alt-tab to the game window
before it appears. The game then starts normally.
Now... If I disable "allow the windows manager to control the windows" then the
windows pop up as expected, but.... when the game pops up, the mouse does not
move.
2nd Focus Problem
-----------------
During transition screens the mouse looses focus and I can drag the mouse off
the game. This also happens after starting a dialog with an npc and the dialog
box of the "conversation" appears. If I click on the game again all is well,
but I shouldn't loose the focus.
3rd Focus Problem
-----------------
Sometimes, when actually playing I cannot turn to the left (where my secondary
monitory is sitting and the game is not. I can continue to turn to the right,
but turning left is froozen unless I alt-tab cycle out of and then back into
the game and all is well.
If there is any additional information that you need from me I will do my best
to either provide that info or ask howto provide it.
Thanks for any time you might spend looking into the problem.

Bug #: 32986
Summary: Fallout New Vegas: Anti-aliasing doesn't work properly
Product: Wine
Version: 1.5.24
Platform: x86-64

Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal

ReportedBy: joedavison.davison(a)gmail.com
Classification: Unclassified
Before continuing I should mention Multisampling is enabled in the Wine
registry.
Anti-aliasing in Fallout: New Vegas doesn't seem to work like it should. Values
up to 8 samples (as per the launcher) apply anti-aliasing, but it seems like
it's only in fact rendering with 2 samples. Selecting 9 samples or more simply
disables anti-aliasing altogether.
World details are anti-aliased correctly. Buildings, streetlamps and the like
are smoothed like they should be, while objects like grass are not.
Furthermore, structures in the distance (like pylons) are not aliased at all
and look like pencil scribbles from MS Paint.
I've observed this in Wine versions throughout the 1.5.x series. My distro is
Arch Linux x86_64.
DirectX 9 DLL overrides *are* being used as the Steam installer for New Vegas
installs DirectX automatically. I have not yet tested it without overrides.
This doesn't occur in Skyrim, a game that uses the same engine as New Vegas.

The following patch has a test which shows that RemoveDirectoryA will set

For example, using RemoveDirectoryA("D:\\not_exist_file") will lead to

I had tried to write a patch to fix it and it worked.
However, it causes a set of tests failed in ntdll.

Hi,
Follow up of bug 42446.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Use workaround from Stan to get around bug 42446:
https://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-bugs/2018-March/485972.html
2. Run with native msvcp140 to work around bug 42686
WINEDLLOVERRIDES=msvcp140=n wine Native\ Access.exe
3. The crash can be triggered by putting some garbage in the login fields, and
click login
Note: I used old version of installer of Native Access i had lying around here,
but the program first updates itsself, and seems to get frequent updates so now
it runs

Vulkan is now released: https://www.khronos.org/vulkan/
Wine may profit from this.
The HLSL -> SPIR-V compiler can make it possible to translate direct3d shaders.
I guess implementing that backend can make Wine much faster for 3D graphics.
I'm unsure though if the translation interface is too complicated and slow if
the application still does the OpenGL/Direct3D calls.

I've attached the backtrace and terminal output, from the latter it looks like
it might be a .dll error, which the first couple lines of the backtrace

When trying to load the Sylenth1 VSTi in any kind of host, Wine crashes with a
stack dump and backtrace.
You can download Sylenth1 from:
http://www.lennardigital.com/modules/downloads
(5MB, no sign up required.)
This happens in all hosts I tried, native Linux ones (LMMS, QTractor) as well
as Windows ones running in Wine (FL Studio, Reaper.)
The easiest and fastest way to reproduce the error is:
* Install LMMS (should be available in all distros)
* Install Sylenth1 with Wine
* Run LMMS
* Insert the "VeSTige" instrument into the song editor.
You do that by clicking on the "Instruments" icon in the
vertical bar to the left and drag&dropping the "VeSTige"
item into the song editor.
* In the VeSTige GUI (click the newly added VeSTige instrument
to bring up the GUI), click the folder icon, select the
Sylenth1Demo.dll and click OK.
At the moment the DLL runs, Wine crashes.
I'm using Wine 1.3.37 on Gentoo Linux AMD64.

This is a somewhat old regression that I noticed now when I updated wine after
a while.
When you move the cursor to resize a "wine window" (windows decorated by wine,
not the WM, usually windows within a wine app), it now uses a hardcoded wine
cursor instead of the system "resize" cursor icon. (I posted this on forum
first; I am talking about the "resizing arrows" that show up when you move to
the edge or corner of a resize-able window)
I did a regression test, and it turns out this commit

forces wine's own cursor icons to be used in those cases. But I want the cursor
to look like the normal (system) cursor again.
I was told to file a bug report at least for enhancement request to disable it
and make it back, somehow, as an option perhaps? If it's not a bug, that is. I
mean, an option to let wine use the normal cursor as before.
Or any workarounds available?

WINEDEBUG="+dinput"; simulated mouse movement with xdotool
Moving the cursor in Empire Earth v2.00.3466 is not possible unless you move
the mouse very quickly. When you do, the cursor moves by only a few pixels.
Generating mouse movement with xdotool [1] showed that the cursor moves by 1
"unit" for each 120 pixels the mouse moves. One "unit" seems to be more than 1
pixel and depend on in-game settings...
$ xdotool mousemove_relative -- 0 119 # --> no cursor movement
$ xdotool mousemove_relative -- 0 120 # --> moves cursor by 1 unit
$ xdotool mousemove_relative -- 0 239 # --> moves cursor by 1 unit
$ xdotool mousemove_relative -- 0 240 # --> moves cursor by 2 units
About the logfile:
Started the game, then in main menu: no mouse movement except 3x 119, then 3x
120 pixels downwards using xdotool, then alt-F4
Those parts look interesting but with I'm lacking the skills to figure out
what's wrong or even fix it:
$ bzcat dinput-120.log.bz2 | grep -B10 -A30 120
$ bzcat dinput-120.log.bz2 | grep -B10 -A30 119
I hope this is helpful..
Using native dinput, behavior is completely different and hard to describe. I'm
not sure if it's relevant:
The game seems to remember the amount of pixels you have moved in X or Y
direction, moving the cursor by a corresponding value on every mouse event
(also clicks). After moving the mouse to the right, the cursor keeps going
right even when you move the mouse left. Moving the mouse in the other
direction lowers that "memory", stopping the cursor eventually.
You have to set "Mouse Sensitivity" to "1" in regedit, otherwise the cursor is
uncontrollably fast.
This is different from the issues with the Demo version or 1.00 (bug 13351),
therefore I'm creating a new bug report.

Summary: ClipStuidoPaint is unable to render canvas

First bug and quite an intimidating reporting system...
ClipStuidoPaint English 1.5.4 installs and loads great but the canvas doesn't
work.
(When painting on the canvas it stays white.) But the thumbnails of layers show
that thigns are being painted.
Under the debug mode this is the only thing that comes up:

Father notes ClipStuidoPaint English version 1.4.1 seems to work flawlessly
under Wine 1.9.16. (1.5.4 despite the large number change is the next version
after 1.4.1 )

ROTTR.exe - Wine 3.4 Git testrun
Tested with the following Wine versions (compiled from source):
- Wine 2.22
- Wine 3.0-RC1
- Wine 3.0-RC3
- Wine 3.0
- Wine 3.4
None of these versions work with ROTTR.exe game launcher on Steam. Wine Staging
works, but I haven't had time to check which specific patchset fixes the issue
there.
---------------------
BEHAVIOR DESCRIPTION:
When I launch Steam client and simply try to launch Rise of The Tomb Raider,
the game launcher window doesn't appear as it should. The Steam client just
indicates "Running" status for the game. When I checked system processes, the
game hangs up, using exactly same amount of memory, every time and on every
vanilla Wine version I have tested so far (see the list above). Memory amount
the game reserves is approximately ~126.2 MiB (always). CPU load is stuck at
8%.
I have also tested running ROTTR.exe without Steam client interaction. No
difference.
---------------------
SYSTEM SPECS:
No winetricks nor DLL overrides. Wine prefix 64-bit. Arch Linux 64-bit. Both
Nvidia GTX 1060M & Intel UHD 630 tested with the latest drivers available
(which doesn't really matter because the same issue exists with older drivers,
too).
---------------------
LOG ATTACHMENTS:
I have attached a generic output of running ROTTR.exe on Wine 3.4 Git (latest
available).
My next comment has log of running the game on Staging Git, equivalent
settings, same prefix. And launcher works.

Terminal Log
I am trying to run the student version of Solid Edge ST8 on up-to-date OpenSUSE
Tumbleweed using the latest wine build. It seems that there has not been
activity in the DB entry for SE for years and so I am under no illusion that it
is supposed to work but I can't see any major reason why it should not because
I cannot see any reason for the program needing any hardcore Windows APIs.
After all, it is mostly OpenGL and OpenCL and its big brother NX which it
shares a lot of engines with has native Linux support. I am therefore
determined to get it working.
It installed just fine after I changed Wine to at least Windows 7 (it didn't
like XP...) and the tiny "Viewer" program works but the full program terminates
upon startup with a dialog that says "Error loading LOCALE resource library
SPLASH.drx". I can confirm that the file is present on the filesystem and in
the same place that it is on my Windows PC where the program works.
I have attached the terminal output from wine. I do think though that maybe the
"fixme:module:load_library unsupported flag(s) used (flags: 0x00000060)" line
might be the cause of the problem.

Hello Louis,
this ticket is a meta bug and completely messed up from history/traceability
point of view.
I would rather close this one but people keep posting to it as they have no
idea how GameGuard works and bug tracking processes in general.
Please don't abuse this one further for individual issues which could be
perfectly separated into own ticket(s).

And nothing in libraries tab on winecfg

I using a 64bit Manjaro (an Arch based) linux, the version is 17.0.1 on a
desktop computer. (Core2Quad Q6600 4GB ram, Nvidia GTX650 OC 2GB)
I have this strange mouse movement in many 3D games under Wine.
When moving the mouse slowly, it always moves down-righ a bit, no matter which
way I really move the mouse.
It is possible to move to the direction that I really move the mouse, but it
looks like something "fighting" with my mouse movement and always moving it a
bit to the down right direction.
I tried with 3 different mouse (a Logitech cordless, a Trust GXT 25, and a
noname cheap one) in every USB port and always getting this strange movement
with every mouse.
This problem is makes those games impossible to play, because it is impossible
to aim correctly.
I already searched for solutions on the web, but I can't find anything that
works.
Changing anything with winecfg not working. Changing mouse settings in the OS
not helping.
There is one suggestion that said, this is something to do with that the OS is
recognising the mouse as a joystick/gamepad, so not wine problem, but that not
the problem in my case!
I tried that "solution" too and I find out my mouse is fine and not recognised
as a joystick, so I think the problem is really with Wine.
I think this is Wine problem, because those games under real Windows in this
same computer, are working fine.
Most of the games that I own and like to play are working fine in Wine and/or
have native Linux versions.
But that few that is affected with this problem are in the top that I really
like. So it would be really nice, if someone can help me to get rid of this
problem.
One more thing; this strange movement is only happening in the 3D environment.
In menus or inventory or something like that, when you see a mouse cursor it
never happens, the mouse moving normally as expected.
Games that not using 3D are not affected with this, and there are some 3D games
that working fine.
I think this is not releated to specific game engine, because it happens to me
with games with different 3D engines.

As in the title, I cannot use full screen resolution (1366x768, 16:9) with game
that support it.
In particular the game is GTA San Andreas (I think 1.01v).
I'm using wine 1.5.27.
The game lists only 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768. On Windows it is able to start
with the full screen resolution (1366x768) and there are also more other
resolutions available.
The game has been installed in the same way on both Windows (7) and Linux (Xubu
12.10).
I tried to use a virtual desktop. I set it to 1366x768 but the game still lists
only 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768.
I also tried to use a bigger virtual desktop (4000x3000). In this case, the
game was able to recognize the 4000x3000 resolution (it started but clearly was
unplayable due to huge resolution) but 1366x768 is still not present.

I've found a strang bug while testing my program.
I used few WINAPI funcs for codepage converting (the file path was in UTF-8,
and to open it, I needed to convert it to the Windows's awkward wchar_t and
back). I hadn't a copy of Windows that time, so I tested it on wine. There's
the tested code:
char* WcharToUTF8(wchar_t *in)
{
uint64_t len = WideCharToMultiByte(CP_UTF8, MB_ERR_INVALID_CHARS, in, -1,
NULL, 0, NULL, NULL);
char *out = (char*)calloc((len + 1) * 6, sizeof(char));
WideCharToMultiByte(CP_UTF8, MB_ERR_INVALID_CHARS, in, -1, out, len, NULL,
NULL);
return out;
}
It worked on wine. On wine it returns correctly converted string. On real
Windows it returns nothing, and empty string crashes the program.
After replasing MB_ERR_INVALID_CHARS with 0 it worked on both wine and Windows.
char* WcharToUTF8(wchar_t *in)
{
uint64_t len = WideCharToMultiByte(CP_UTF8, 0, in, -1, NULL, 0, NULL,
NULL);
char *out = (char*)calloc(len + 1, sizeof(char));
WideCharToMultiByte(CP_UTF8, 0, in, -1, out, len, NULL, NULL);
return out;
}
Also, the code was stolen from MSDN page about codepages, and there was a note
about "nothing will work correctly WITHOUT MB_ERR_INVALID_CHARS".
Windows bug? Wine bug? Wine did work as said in MSDN, Windows did not.

Graphical issues are present in the game as reported in bug #37070.
Since Wine 1.9.6 the game crashes when starting a new game from the main menu:
'DirectX Error: DDERR_SURFACEBUSY'.
Tested with the GOG.com version of the game. Demo version is available on
Fileplanet, but the website has been marked as malicious site by Chrome and
Firefox, so I didn't check whether the demo has the same problem.

When attempting to save the game, nothing happens: there is no error message
from the game and no saved game is created. The demo version tends to hang
after performing a manual save.
In the terminal:
fixme:xmllite:xmlwriter_SetProperty Unimplemented property (1)
Saving the game works with native xmllite.dll.
Steps to reproduce the problem in the demo:
Start the game with 'The Next Big Thing.exe', create a new player, start a new
game. You can skip the intro videos by pressing <Esc.> Move the mouse pointer
to the top of the screen and select the rightmost icon to open the controls
menu. Use the disk icon to save the game, enter a name, press <Enter>. The game
is not saved.

My GDI+ program is unable to load a certain font when it runs under Wine.
I have written a smaller test program, and the font which fails under Wine was
able to load under Windows XP.
The test program uses the GdipPrivateAddFontFile API, whereas my program where
I first met the bug used GdipPrivateAddMemoryFont. In both cases, it is the
same error, a GpStatus 3 is returned, the enumeration value OutOfMemory.
I attach the problematic font file to this bug report.
I an using wine-staging 2.19.

Wine 2.14 screenshot of the graphic corruption of the player character
Hi,
I have reproduced this issue with Wine 2.14 and Wine Staging 2.13 (my distro
doesn't have 2.14 Staging yet..) with CSMT on and off.
The main issue is that during the game's intro sequence the main character gets
this severe graphic corruption every few frames or so.
I will attach a couple of screenshots and the terminal output to best show the
issue.

mojibake against an input character.
HeTeMuLu Creator is a tag insertion type HTML editor written by Kenji Hosimoto.
In the text area, I can input Japanese kanji characters through XIM, e.g.
Fcitx.
However, when I input a certain kanji character, it isn't shown properly.
How to reproduce:
1. Extract hcre110a.zip.
2. Run Hetecre.exe in Japanese locale (i.e. LANG=ja_JP.UTF-8).
3. Click Close in "A Tip for Today" window.
4. Input "縋る" (Sugaru) with Japanese IME.
Expected result:
It shows "縋る" in the text area.
Actual result:
It shows "・vる" in the text area (see the attachment).
Note:
* When I open a text file which contains "縋", it shows without issues.
I can paste the character, too. Therefore, it's an input side bug, I think.
* I can also reproduce with JIS X 0208 level 2 characters whose leading byte
value greater than or equals to 0xE0.
