plain terminal output
As I move the mouse across the user interface in Steam client, or activate a
menu item or scrolling through the installed games' list in the library, text
in the user interface periodically disappears and reappears.
Also can be reproduced in the login window: as I begin typing in the input
fields, text disappears then reappears.
Disabling dwrite.dll or launching Steam with 'no-dwrite' parameter is a
workaround.
Reproduced in fullscreen and virtual desktop mode and with running Steam in
Windows XP and Windows 7 modes.
Reverting the following commit fixes the problem:

The patch does not revert cleanly but I did the regression test twice.
Due to the nature of TCP streams I expect the problem to be random but here it
crashes 100% of the time.

screen dump of wine and winecfg calls after a fresh macports installation
Nothing I can think of will persuade wine 2.0_0 installed from Macports to
start. Previous versions have worked fine. I have completely removed my entire
Macports installation, the ~/.wine directory, and any other traces of wine I
could find, restarted my machine and rebuilt from scratch.
I've attached a screen dump, lightly sanitised, of my first attempt with a
fresh wine installation to start a Windows Setup.exe program that's given me no
problems in the past. My wine installation also fails on standards such as
Notebook.exe.
I've tried the OSX 2.0 .pkg installation direct from winehq.org and that works
OK.
I'm running macOS Sierra 10.12.3, Xcode 8.2.1 with all the normal bells and
whistles, and xQuartz 2.7.7 on a MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015).

Minimal bug example
Delphi 7 applications that uses llPDFLib library have problems when saving
reports as PDF (tested under wine 1.0.1 and 1.1.14, ubuntu 8.04-8.10):
- if the emulated system is Windows 2000-XP, it shows an "floating point
underflow error" when creating the PDF
- if the emulated system is Windows 95-ME, it saves the PDF file, but images
are printed in the wrong place of the page (they are shifted and stretched)
This problem occours on every Delphi applocation; I'm attaching a minimal
example that shows the problem: press the PDF button to create a PDF; in the
attach there are already 2 PDF: one (correct) created under windows, and one
wrong created under wine (only look at the image position and size, image
colors are wrong for reasons not depending from wine)
An app that suffers from this bug is Danea Easyfatt (a widespread
italian management sw, http://www.danea.it/software/easyfatt - demo
downloadable from http://download.danea.it/demo/ef09/def2009demo05b.exe )

Console log
After having installed wine, I copied an installed version of World of Warcraft
2.4 to my ~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/. I ran winecfg to set the windows
version to Windows 2000 mode. I set the Graphics mode to allow DirectX apps to
stop the mouse leaving the window, allow the windowmanager to control the
windows, and emulated a virtual desktop of 1024x768. I ran wineprefixcreate. I
set SET gxApi "opengl" and SET gxWindow "1" in Config.WTF in the WTF directory.
I then tried to start up wow with `wine "c:\program files\world of
warcraft\wow.exe" -opengl`
This allows me to see the login screen(after all licenses and movies(which you
see only once cause they are set in Config.WTF) after a succesful login, you
are able to select a realm, and then a character. When entering the world
however I start seeing "fixme:winsock:WSAIoctl unsupported WS_IOCTL cmd
(9800000c)" etc as can be found in the log and then the screen loader goes a
little passed half way, and the mouse cursor stops moving. I can however move
my mouse out of the window and just interact with my other X apps.

D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die is a 64-bit DX11 game and it is somewhat playable as
I can start the game and perform some basic gameplay actions. Unfortunately,
the game has some sever discoloration issues. For example, the game's
characters' hair will have a very vivid green color or their skin will be
completely black.
Wine 1.9.24-105-g1d3b944
Overrides used: d3dcompiler_43
Windows 7 64-bit prefix
I've attached the terminal output as I played the game for a bit in the hopes
that it will help to diagnose the issue. Please note that the terminal output
is about 450 MB uncompressed.
Also, I noticed that the game seems to try and make use of an unimplemented
shader opcode:
fixme:d3d_shader:shader_sm4_read_instruction Unrecognized opcode 0x5b,
opcode_token 0x0400005b.
but I am not sure if that has any bearing on the issue at hand as I am not all
that knowledgeable about Direct3D or shaders...

VRC 1.2.4, available at http://www1.metacraft.com/VRC/download.shtml, is a
Virtual Radar Client for use with the VATSIM network. This application
functions correctly under wine-2.4 in its own Wine prefix.
Under wine-2.5, the application starts and displays its "profile select" page
just fine. However, upon selecting a profile, the main application window
never displays. Process table indicates the application is running, just not
displaying anything.
Regression conducted between wine-2.4 and wine-2.5 resulted in:

opera log
I was finally able to install and run Opera 20 (from
http://blogs.opera.com/desktop/) based on someone's findings on the Opera
forums
(http://forums.opera.com/discussion/1831463/how-to-install-and-run-the-opera…)
Unfortunately I just get an invisible window. Cycling through windows with
alt+tab shows an outline for the Opera window, there's just nothing there.
As far as I can tell a normal install and a standalone install don't function
any differently. You do need native bcrypt though.
Once the installer finishes it starts the browser. On my setup this creates two
invisible windows, the second appears to be the status bar or something. If I
hit Alt a menu appears and I can exit the browser. When starting the browser
again I run 'wine launcher.exe --no-sandbox --disable-gpu' from Program
Files\Opera based on the forums post.
--no-sandbox is necessary due to bug 33698.
--disable-gpu seems to be needed as well, without it I get a bunch of GL
errors.
The forums post mentions --ppapi-startup-dialog, no idea what this does, seems
to behave the same with or without it.
It also suggests --disable-gpu-compositing instead of --disable-gpu. Ditto.
Since this apparently works for someone but not for me here's everything I can
think of that might be relevant:
Debian stable, xserver-xorg 7.7+3~deb7u1
card: ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series
driver: radeon / mesa 8.0.5-4+deb7u2
(I had the same results with fglrx-driver 12-6+point-3)
wm: openbox 3.5.0-7
Attached is a log from running 'wine launcher.exe --no-sandbox --disable-gpu'.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

I noticed this when viewing a specific help file in Wine winhlp32, but the
issue doesn't seem to be specific to that. Viewing it using winhlp32 from
Windows 98 under Wine shows a similar rendering issue, so the cause most
probably lies elsewhere. They both render the text incorrectly, but
differently.
Italic text does not render properly. View the attached license.hlp file in
Wine winhlp32. In the "4. SAMPLE CODE" and "5. REDISTRIBUTABLE COMPONENTS"
paragraphs, the second instance of "Microsoft Systems Journal" is supposed to
be rendered in italics (followed by "(MSJ)" which is not italic).
Bug 7520 may be related to this. But in this case, Wine could/should at least
render the text normally I think, rather than corrupted/garbled???

According to my estimates the static HTML files for the test.winehq.org site
use around 21.5 GB. That seems a lot for such a simple website.
This estimate is based on the following data collected from 3 days worth of
reports:
8.3MB / report
60 reports / day
500MB / day
44 days history
-> 21.5 GB total
It's not because the raw reports are big either. On any given day we get:
50 MB of raw report files
180 MB of full report HTML files
285 MB of individual test unit HTML files
3 MB of index files
So most of it is caused by the HTML files.
Here are some ways one could minimize the bloat:
1) Split the raw report into one file per test unit plus one index file to know
in which order to reassemble them. These would not use more space than the
original raw report except for the filesystem's internal fragmentation. Then
each file the web server serves would be generated from these. For the raw
report one would just have to concatenate them in the right order. The full
report and the individual test unit files would have to parse the relevant
source text files. A drawback is all the extra parsing required to generate
each page. Plus some issues in the raw report can only be detected when parsing
the full report as they show up as issue transitioning from one test result to
the next.
2) An other option would be to skip generating the full report HTML file and
omit the header and footer of the individual test unit HTML files. Then each
page could be generated by assembling the individual HTML fragments with the
right HTML glue to build either a full HTML report or an individual test unit
HTML file. This would have the advantage of not requiring more parsing to serve
each file.
3) Drop the individual test unit HTML files and always link to the full HTML
report. The drawback is more bandwidth usage since every one looking at a test
result would end up downloading the 180 MB full report instead of the small
individual test unit reports.
4) Drop the full HTML report and only keep the per test unit HTML files. This
provides a lower disk saving but does not force users to download a big file
when they are only interested in the result of one test unit.
5) Use some way to reduce the size of the links to the Git source. Removing the
links altogether saves 191 MB in the test case. Out of the 128 characters of a
typical link, 95 of these are identical from one link to the next. So maybe
using some JavaScript one could factorize most of this.
A drawback of options 1 and 2 is that since the files would no longer be static
they could probably not be put up on a content distribution network. But I'm
not sure test.winehq.org uses a CDN now so this probably does not matter.
It may still be possible to reduce the processing load introduced by 1 and 2 by
caching the generated files for a few hours or days. All in all this would
increase complexity quite a bit though.

The Wine test reports are pretty close to the 1.5 MB limit so having an idea of
which the biggest offenders are would be helpful.
test.winehq.org could easily extract this data while parsing the reports and
then generate some per-build index files showing the test units sorted based on
how much they spammed the report.

It would be interesting to have some information about where WineTest.exe
spends the most time as it sometimes takes close to 20 minutes (the maximum
allowed on the TestBot is 30 minutes so there is still some margin).
Having data on how long a test unit takes per platform could be valuable. This
would help identify which test units take too much time or which machines are
having trouble keeping up compared to their peers.
The WineTest reports contain run time data for each test unit with a 1s
granularity. This could be exploited to generate some extra per-build index
files showing the test units sorted by run time with some min, max and average
data.

Ancestry Family Tree Maker 2014 on Wine1.6 Ubu14.04 Fails To Pass the Serial
Number Entry security pop-up, where the same install works properly on a
Windows partition on the same machine.
The Wine install worked without problem, and components like Notepad work as
expected, and the FTM install process starts as expected and seems to run well
up to the presentation of the security pop-up requesting the software serial
number, the error it throws is "Error Activating License! The requested feature
is not implemented. Please try again or visit our support site for help."
Retries do not work at all either. It is as if there is no network connection,
but the network features are working fine for other Ubu apps, and the install
works well on the Windows partition on the same machine.
One additional point, before winetricks would install 7-zip the permissions for
the .wine directory required normalization, .wine installed with just use
permissions for my user id without my group.
So few people use FTM there seems to be little chatter anywhere about the
install problems, most users seem to give up in 2009 and worked around by using
a Windows VM.

Looking at http://test.winehq.org/data, it's hard to find x86-64 test results
(wine or windows). We should probably separate them out into their own column
next to the 32-bit OS, e.g.:
Win2k3 WinXP-32bit WinXP-64bit ... Wine-32bit Wine-64bit
We've got Platform under the report info that shows if it's x86 or x86_64, so
extending tools/winetest/dissect to account for this shouldn't be too much
trouble for a perl guru.

Invoking mouse scroll over toolbars should not result in scrolling document if
some combo box on toolbar is opened. It should scroll values in opened combo
box (like font selector, font size selector, style selector).
Scrolling with mouse in regular dialogs with combo boxes works almost well (see
Tools->Options->Save "Save Word documents as" combo box). However, it works
only if mouse pointer is over that dialog. In Windows, it works if mouse is
outside dialog window (and even program's main window). Opened combo box "eats"
all mouse scroll events :-)

Hi
SteuerSparErklärung (SSE) is a german tax software. I've put my translations in
[brackets].
See subject. It crashes in the sub-module "BelegManager" [receipt manager] on
importing a receipt.
(Tested for jpg, png and tif. Importing pdf works. BelegManager converts files
to pdf when importing.)
A dll override msvcr120 (n,b) fixes the problem.
Found in Debian's wine-development 1.7.34-1.
Reproduce:
==========
Download installer:

Install SSE:
------------
$ wine SSEStandard_20.24.112.exe
- Click "OK" in "WinZip Self-Extractor" [... Keep all windows open until the

- Click "Installation starten" in the next window (SteuerSparErklärung 2015:

- Click "Express-Installation" [Installation with default settings,

- Tick "Testversion installieren (mit Lohnsteuer-Ermäßigung)" [Install test

- Choose "Ich akzeptiere die Bedingungen der Lizenzvereinbarung" [Accept
license] and click "Weiter" in the next window (Installation
>SteuerSparErklärung 2015</Lizenzvereinbarung). The license text is not
displayed, see bug #37743.
- Click "Nein" [No] on the next prompt "Bestätigen" [Confirm], which asks
whether the program ought to look for online updates now (currently there are
none).
- Click "Schließen" in the installation window and the main window to finish
the installation.
Start SSE/BelegManager:
-----------------------
$ cd .wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/Akademische\
Arbeitsgemeinschaft/SteuerSparErklaerung\ 2015/
$ wine StartCenter.exe
- Click "BelegManager" in the mid-bottom of the window "Start-Center 2015".
- Click "Standardverzeichnis anlegen" [create default folder].
- In the following dialog click "Verzeichnis anlegen" [create folder]. This
creates ~/BelegManager.
- Click "BelegManager verwenden" [Start using BelegManager].
- Click "< Mehrere Belege importieren >" in the mid-bottom of BelegManager.
- Choose a jpg file.
Now the program crashes, defunct process StartCenter.exe.
Note:
SSE creates the folders ~/BelegManager (and ~/Steuerfälle). You may want to
remove them after testing.

wine default terminal output
The launcher of the game (APB Reloaded) uses mono.
After performing the "repair" action, the initially disabled "start" button
should be enabled.
The issue is that after the "repair" action is finished, the program closes
unexpectedly. The terminal output states that a mono run-time error occurred
while performing the window layout update:
System.Windows.Forms.Layout.TableLayout.CalculateControlPositions throws
System.ArgumentException: Value does not fall within the expected range.
(See attached log for backtrace).
Tested on a clean 32-bit wineprefix with current wine-git (which includes fix
for the dependency).
Native dotnet20 is a workaround.

Hello Everyone,
There is a problem with fullscreen when not in emulated desktop that
causes the mouse to be able to move the screen. I tested the demo of
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and it has this issue. This also effects
Devil May Cry 3 and other games.

Bug #: 32925
Summary: KERNEL32.dll.GetVolumeInformationByHandleW is not
implemented
Product: Wine
Version: 1.5.23
Platform: x86-64
URL: http://www.winuae.net/files/InstallWinUAE2510.exe
OS/Version: Windows
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: kernel32
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: markk(a)clara.co.uk
Classification: Unclassified
The latest beta build of WinUAE tries to call
KERNEL32.dll.GetVolumeInformationByHandleW, which is implemented in Windows
Vista and later. But even after setting the OS level to Vista with winecfg,
Wine exits reporting:
wine: Call from 0x7bc4d010 to unimplemented function
KERNEL32.dll.GetVolumeInformationByHandleW, aborting
wine: Unimplemented function KERNEL32.dll.GetVolumeInformationByHandleW called
at address 0x7bc4d010 (thread 0009), starting debugger...
GetVolumeInformationByHandleW seems similar to the earlier GetVolumeInformation
function, but instead of a root directory path (e.g. "D:\") you pass a file
handle.
To reproduce:
- Download and run the WinUAE 2.5.1 installer.
- Download
http://www.winuae.net/files/b/winuae_GetVolumeInformationByHandleW.zip and
replace winuae.exe with the one from that archive.
- Run winuae.exe
- When the WinUAE Properties window opens, click Hard drives in the tree-view
to the left. Click Add Directory or Archive... then enter (for example) "test"
in the Device name and Volume label fields, and C:\ for Path. Click OK.
- Click Configurations in the tree-view. Type something in the Name field (e.g.
test.uae) and click Save. Wine should crash.

Long standing bug, afaik, but Fraps can't measure fps. While many games have
their own fps measuring option, some don't, and others make it hard to find.
Under wine, you can get reasonably close with WINEDEBUG=+fps, but for a full
screen app, or when you only want to measure a certain scene, this can be a
PITA.
Easy demo:
download/install Fraps (http://www.fraps.com/setup.exe)
download/install 3dMark2001 (http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=99)
run fraps (wine C:\fraps\fraps.exe)
run 3dmark2001, and press 'F11'.
expected result: fps display in top left
actual result: no fps in top left

So when I'm play games running full screen mode and I want to switch to some
other application (like firefox to listen to some music). Switching to non-full
screen app works fine however when I want to switch back to the full screen one
it brakes.
I noticed that when I'm using Unity the game freezes completely while on KDE
game turns back almost perfectly, but it's shorter a bit (system bar is visible
- rest is the game) and to click something it must be clicked a bit underneath.
I think it might be something with one of Directx component. Not sure witch
one. I used Farming Simulator 2013, Neighbours from Hell (1 & 2), Mad Tracks
and Euro Truck Simulator (1 & 2). This issue don't happen in StuntGP however it
does not use mouse.

Summary: Scrabble Online will not restore from a minimised state
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.10
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: P5
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: kennybobs(a)o2.co.uk
As the title suggests.
Atari Scrabble Online has a minimise button, but minimising is a bad idea.
In earlier versions of wine it simply wouldn't restore. I have just tried
again in 1.1.10 and it doesn't minimise properly and locks up the screen, and
has to be killed.
This only occurs when playing the game in fullscreen mode; a virtual desktop is
an easy workaround and the game can be minimised and restored.
I don't know if a trace would be any use here, but I will certainly do one if
required.

As described in bug 17195, SetNamedPipeHandleState is currently a stub, and

currently todo_wine test to succeed. It also allows the test cases in bug

I am supporting a user to file a WineHQ bug...
See https://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=26796
He tested it using Wine version: wine-1.9.8 (Staging)
The application he is trying to run enumerates the System Disk Drives ( using
class GUID "{4d36e967-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}" ). Wine does not currently
support enumerating DIGCF_PRESENT (all present drives) for
SetupDiGetClassDevs().
However the application doesn't check the return value of
SetupDiEnumDeviceInfo(). For Wine this will return FALSE on the first call.
Apparently assuming that all systems must have at least ONE disk drive!
The call to: SetupDiGetDeviceRegistryProperty() naturally fails - as the
pointer (DeviceInfoData) will be invalid.

If an app dies, but the process gets left behind, it gets far more difficult
than it should be to identify which process belonged to the app if several apps
with the same executable names are running.
Actually, even adding full executable path would have been an improvement here,
even if it wouldn't cover all of the cases.
Also, on somewhat, though not quite related note: those "ntdll Critical section
60s timeouts" are more often than not (at least in my experience) permanent
deadlocks, yet they block standard Ctrl-C and force the user to use taskmgr.
That's quite annoying sometimes.
(on a sidenote: does taskmgr really need to spam so much into the console ?)

Wine 1.3.33 console output
After installing (or indeed running for the first time in a while), the Gómez
PEER attempts to auto-update. A number of messages pop up to say that the
application is unable to communicate with itself before giving up altogether.
The update seems to be actioned by javaw.exe:
"C:\PROG~FBU\Gomez\GOME~3B3\.\jre\bin\javaw.exe -cp
C:\PROG~FBU\Gomez\GOME~3B3\.\cache Respawn
C:\PROG~FBU\Gomez\GOME~3B3\.\.\jre\bin\Systeminfo.dll"
Under Windows XP and 7 this does not occur.
During upgrade gomezpeer.exe is terminated after the first error message
appears.
I will need to run under Windows again to see the differences.
This does appear to be the same as Bug 20234 but that upgrade started working,
so this must be a new bug.
Note: You need an account to get this far.
Under Wine 1.3.0 the "Last Mile updating..." windows does not appear, there is
a single error window and the application closes, but when loading a second
time the PEER continues as normal, and so must have been updated (not sure how
to check). Running a bisect is impossible due to bugs between then and now.

Installed wine-staging package via the wine0-builds PPA on new install of
Ubuntu 16.04 LTS last week. Installed a Windows 3.1 16-bit application in the
Windows virtual file system. Everything worked great! Today, installed
package update with executables built March 6. 2017. Suddenly, my 16-bit
application gets an error whenever it tries to open files! In the console, the
error message is "fixme:commdlg:GetOpenFileName16 custom hook 0x17a7053e no

The problem is that WM_NCACTIVATE is not sent if the new foreground window was

The patch I wrote for this is attached, and here's Alexandre's feedback (he
wants more tests):

I'm posting the patch here to make sure that it doesn't get lost, because I
don't think I'm going to get this done to Alexandre's satisfaction. Honestly,
I'd rather that someone else took over entirely.

insert into `unitest`(`id`,`english`,`native`) values (6,'hindi','हिन्दी');

(the origunal file is utf8-encoded)
Thai, Hindi and Mandarin characters dont display in common Windows program such
as Notepad++ (a text editor) and SQLyog (a MySQL client). In Windows it works
fine with same programs and in same type of native Linux programs it also does
with same fonts specfied (for instance I tested that both "Liberation"and
"Noto" fonts work fine in LibreOffice in Linux (not Wine) but none works in
Wine.
I think that Wine does not *provide* details - such as glyphs - to applications
from the font file, if the utf8-encoding for a character is more than 2 bytes
long.
Tested with Wine 1.8 and 2.3 on various OpenSuSEs. No diference.

The selection dropdown list is far too long to skim through (esp. that it
displays at most 5 entries) when you don't know the exact
naming/spelling/prefix of a library name. With the current amount of overrides,
a serious UI needs a search box.

Reverting solves the issue.
You might encounter another bug when trying to run Soldat with an old Wine
version. If Alt+Tab doesn't help, try switching to TTY and back. This problem
seems to be fixed in Wine 1.9.0.
Mind you, the next version of Soldat (1.7.0) replaces the old DX8 renderer with
OpenGL, which renders correctly.

versions of wine and same version of eMule; I'm using wine 1.5.17 now.

Checkpoint has a Windows tool for their Firewall configuration, called
SmartConsole. We have it in version R70.30 now. It installed fine and I can run
submodules like SmartTracker (although filtering doesn't work) but always when
I either try to open the Dashboard directly or via Window-click from another

I hope this isn't too much for this field, I thought there's no use for using
an attachment for those few lines. If you need more information please tell me
what to do. I'm using Ubuntu 64bit 11.04 natty with the PPA-wine-archive.
1.3.27 is new today. Very strange: when using it via SmartTracker and it
crashes the SmarTracker window stays open and works.

If there are many blocks of the same size in one of the free lists and a
slightly larger block which falls into the same free list is allocated the list
will be linearly scanned for a suitable block, potentially blocking for a very
long time. This situation actually happens in the game Deponia, under certain
conditions.
A possible solution would be to round up all allocated blocks in a size
category to the maximum size of the category. In this way the allocator could
always get the first block from a free list. This would waste some bytes, for
each allocation, but avoid the linear search. This solution would be similar to
how the jemalloc allocator works AFAIK.

The site says it needs .NET 4.0, so I ran installed dotnet40 with winetricks.

I am trying to get out of the Windows environment all together - and perhaps
figure a way to setup a cluster to assist in processing needs of this
application - but for now here it is...
adaptrade builder - a stock trading analysis tool - keeps freezing up on me. It
only does it when there is a large data file set to work with - smaller ones
are ok most of the time (25MB or less). It would be very helpful to be able to
set this on a server or cluster and run the chart and indicator analysis to
help optimize our systems - but the thing keeps crashing. For now we are
running it on Win 7 but that even is a bit slow...
Any ideas are much welcomed!

debugtools.c static classes duplicates libs/wine/debug.c static debug_classes.
As it's a list of the libs/wine/debug.h names for enum __wine_debug_class, then
libs/wine/debug.c is where the list should be.
If it is deemed that it is indeed okay to have a duplicate list of names rather
than a single source, then at the very least document this fact with the
duplicated lists.

The component (wineserver) is likely incorrect.
If one app is run in one locale, then - while it's still running - another is
launched in the same prefix, but different locale via LANG, not all of the
locale dependent variables are reinitialized.
Specifically, if the first locale is Polish and the second is Japanese, font
glyphs are still rendered as if the initial locale was in effect, which leads
to some of the font glyphs being rendered too wide and long strings not fitting
their cells and getting cut off.
Not sure if this is *supposed* to work, but if it works with most of the other
locale dependent settings, it seems inconsistent it doesn't with this one.

Something has gone horribly wrong with window rendering in wine. The menus
across the top of windows are vertically enourmous, possibly stretching
infinitely beyond the screen.
They can still be clicked on, and the text of the menu options will appear in a
very normal font size near the top of the window and the menu will be
highlighted in a colum that goes all the way from the top of the window to the
bottom.
I've tried to stretch the windows out to find the bottom of the exanse but it
seems to just go on forever.
I really don't want to delete my entire wine installation and start over

I would like to install Age of Empires 2 on Linux with Wine, but it doesn't
work.
I even get this error a few weeks ago, when I was using Wine 1.6 and you told
me I've to use an newer version. I tried 2.0-rc3 and 1.9.19 but it's still the
same error when I want to start Age of Empires 2. Because that I'm now using
PlayOnLinux, but that installs your Wine. PLEASE HELP ME I LIKE THIS GAME!

backtrace of problem with Kindle in Wine
Wine opens Kindle; however, when I click on a book icon, the program closes
abruptly. Again the program opens fine. Can't read any books, though. I also
have Kindle in another linux operating on same computer, Zorin 9.1. Kindle
works fine in Zorin, but when I attempt to use the program in the new Linux
Mint 17+ the program doesn't work.

Terminal output from Wine Staging 2.1 with no CSMT
I used Wine Staging 2.1 for this test but this issue happens with Wine-devel.
In short, if Brut@l is allowed to use D3D11, the loading screen and main menu
are displayed upside down.
If I disable d3d11 in winecfg and force the game to use D3D9 then everything
looks normal.

Summary: DirectShow videos steal focus from RPG Maker 2000/2003
games
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Hardware: x86
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
Reporter: mathewvq(a)gmail.com
When a video plays in an RPG Maker 2000 or 2003 game, the DirectShow
(sub?)window that's created steals focus from the game. This, in turn, causes
the game engine to pause, which doesn't resume until the whole game window is
defocused and refocused.
I've prepared a demonstration here. When you start the "game" (by pressing
space on the title screen), the screen will fade out and in to the message "[No
Movie Playing]", and then instantly turn to black and pause. After the game
window is defocused and refocused, the game (and video) will resume.
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5968004/MovieTest.tar.gz
(The included shell script runs the game in windowed mode.)
This happens in both Linux with X11 and OS X with non-X11 driver. Winetricks +
quartz "fixes" the problem but causes other issues.

Summary: Magic School Bus - Dinosaurs claims audiocd is busy
due to MCICDA_Open failure

output with WINEDEBUG=+file,+mci,+mcicda,+driver,+msgbox
Magic School Bus Explores in the Age of Dinosaurs, an old educational game,
fails to launch, claiming:
The CD Audio device is in use by another application.
Please, close that application and try again.
I've checked winecfg—the cd is mounted to the L: drive. So I did a relay trace
and eventually found the problem appeared to be due to the MCICDA_Open()
function returning an error code of 0x123, which is MCIERR_MUST_USE_SHAREABLE.
This is returned because the function attempts to call CreateFileW with the
path "\\.\I:", which fails with 0xc0000022, aka STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED. The drive
letter is notable—the function appears to work by iterating through every drive
letter from \\.\A: to \\.\Z: until it finds one whose drive type is
DRIVE_CDROM. So there appears to be at least two problem here: (1) I: is very
clearly the wrong drive [it is a CD drive, but currently has a different game
in it which I was working on] (2) that either MCICDA_Open or CreateFileW should
not be returning an error in this case—I did try manually changing the drive
letter to start at L, and it failed with the same error, so the program appears
to be expecting success.
