Shogun Total War 2 purchased and installed through Steam plays fine, albeit a
little slowly.
However during battles, it shows a message at the bottom, saying something to
the effect that the installation has been tampered with, which can be due to
pirating or a virus, and then prompting to purchase the game or repair the
installation.
I have tried repairing through Steam and reinstalling but the message is still
there.

Crash Dump using native msvcr110.dll and msvcp110.dll
Warlock II - the Exiled (Steam Pre Release) will not run. This program was
built using VCRun2012, which appears to be only partially implemented as a
builtin dll.
Using builtin msvcr110.dll and msvcp110.dll produces the following exception --
"msvcr110.dll.?name@type_info@@QBEPBDPAU__type_info_node@@@Z called in 32-bit
code (0x7b83aed2)." I assume this arises because the function is currently a
stub.
Using native msvcr110.dll and msvcp110.dll produces the following page fault --
"page fault on write access to 0x1c1fa000 in 32-bit code (0x0600e4a8)." I made
many attempts to diagnose this page fault error, but it exceeds my skill level.
The +relay channel produces several GB of call info, and I cannot figure out
how to find the needle in that haystack. The +snoop channel crashes (or slows
my computer down to a crawl), and I cannot get meaningful results from it.
I have attached the crash dump for the page fault using native msvcr110.dll and
msvcp110.dll. I would be happy to produce other backtraces or provide
additional information upon request (to the extent I can figure it out).
I would be very grateful for assistance. Thanks!

When Batman: Arkham Asylum is launched, the user is supposed to be able to open
the Games for Windows overlay window with the Home key in order to be able to
create a local profile for saving game progress. However, this doesn't seem to

nothing and the game warns the user about not being logged into a profile.
Note that xlive.dll requires msasn1.dll, which winetricks obtains from the
Windows 2000 SP4 redist. Application output is attached, for what it's worth.

Hi,
I'm trying to get Far Cry 2 running, the game starts and runs for about a
minute (I haven't gotten past the riding in the jeep intro) until it hits an
assert and dies:
reen: buffer.c:607: unsafe_impl_from_IDirect3DIndexBuffer9: Assertion
`iface->lpVtbl == &d3d9_indexbuffer_vtbl' failed.
Not sure if this is a regression or not as I haven't tried this game before,
but the problem is the same with both 1.5.8 and 1.5.7.
I have vcrun2008, vcrun2005 and d3dx9_36 installed via winetricks.
I'm using the r600g driver so this could very well be a Mesa problem and not
something to do with Wine.
Thanks in advance,

--- Comment #154 from Nicholas O'Connor <nrfoconnor+wine(a)gmail.com> ---
I've noticed no problems with the battle.net menus.
Now it's quite possible that it's because I'm using W-MODE with
Chaoslauncher[1] to put StarCraft in a window (since my xrandr is all messed
up), and it's doing some black magic voodoo to the process so it can render all
256 colors in a 32-bit color mode. Or it could be because of a Wine update from
some time after the last comment that fixed it (I'm currently on 1.7.17).
Either way, I noticed no drawing error in the Battle.net menu system, from
connect to channels to lobby and so forth.
Someone else may wish to confirm.

Address 0x7ffdae08 is on thread 1's stack
Uninitialised value was created by a stack allocation
at DeviceIoControl (file.c:2335)
The stack allocation in question is
IO_STATUS_BLOCK iosb;
in kernel32/file.c in DeviceIoControl(). Setting its fields
to known values before the call to NtDeviceIoControlFile()
shows that the undefined field is iosb.Information.
Setting that field before the call gets rid of the valgrind error.
I can't quite follow how ioctl's work, but:
the IOCTL_MOUNTMGR_QUERY_UNIX_DRIVE ioctl seems
to follow the call-once-to-get-buffer-size paradigm.
Its reply is a struct mountmgr_unix_drive plus
(if there is room) two nul-terminated strings.
The first field of that struct is the total size needed
to hold the entire reply. If you call without a
big enough buffer, it fills in the size and returns
STATUS_MORE_ENTRIES. It puts 0 in the Information field
of the iosb in this case.
GetDriveTypeW happens to not care about the two strings,
so it only calls once with a small buffer.
Now, server_ioctl_file only copies the Information field
of the iosb if it gets STATUS_SUCCESS. So it leaves
Information undefined in the STATUS_MORE_ENTRIES case.
MSDN says that Information is set to zero on failure,
so if server_ioctl_file isn't going to copy that field,
maybe it should set it to zero. And in fact, setting
it to zero in the non-STATUS_SUCCESS case also gets
rid of the valgrind error.
I have no idea what Information is used for, or what's
really going on here, so I'll just attach the patch
to clear Information in the non-SUCCESS case and
hope somebody who knows what's going on can comment.

Summary: Wine vulnerability with (USB) devices
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Platform: x86-64
OS/Version: Mac OS X
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: f.platte(a)platte-web.de
Classification: Unclassified
I have a original XBOX controller and use a third-party driver (which is
officially discontinued since OS X Tiger, but was updated some time ago to be
64bit compatible. It is the only driver out there for XBOX 1 controller for OS
X so I have to use it.
This driver seems to mess up the UNIX device manager (or similar, as I don't
have any consolidated knowledge), resulting in crashing any wine process
accessing the controller as a input device.
I get the following error message (repetitive) from the console whenever the
controller is connected:
sudo[4755]: [CURRENT_USER] : TTY=unknown ; PWD=/ ; USER=root ;
COMMAND=/usr/bin/renice [#] -p [#]
Although this issue does not seem to be related to wine itself it reveals some
vulnerability (I think).
It may be worth fixing, as this might occur this other devices, too.
Best,
Rastafabi

+tid log
Since the latest Steam update (http://store.steampowered.com/news/4228/) trying
to run Half-Life results only in displaying the title screen, nothing more.
I am fairly certain that this is a bug which was exposed by the above update. I
was playing Half-Life, then Steam prompted for a restart to complete the update
and since then I can no longer run Half-Life, not even from a clean
installation. I did not change my wine version inbetween.
This issue affects goldsource games (HL), but not source games (HL2).

Wine's output
Reproduce:
- Download Origin (EA's game distribution platform) and install it
- Create an account, log in
- Download Battlefield 3 or install it from CD
(When an error shows up, that you should be Admin, create the Folder
"Battlefield 3" in the Folder "Origin Games" and an empty file called
".manifest" inside. That fixed it for me)
- Try to install the game
See the attached log for wine's output during the crash.

Ubuntu Lucid with Wine 1.2.2.
Colors are all messed up on most screens. Screen is covered in red mesh making
text unreadable, menus unusable, and many of the animations look really bad.
Possibly related to the game wanting to run in 256 color mode, did not
investigate.
This issue makes the game pretty much unusable. I'm very much a novice so I
don't want to submit a test result, but I'd give this a "garbage" rating.

Summary: GPSU can not connect to GPS device with serial USB
connector
Product: Wine
Version: 1.0.1
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: j-clark(a)lineone.net
Running GPS Utility 5.02 under wine 1.0.1 (provided by Ubuntu). Most functions
seem to work, but I get a timeout when trying to connect to my GPS device. GPS
is Garmin Geko 201 with serial port, connecting via USB serial adaptor.
This function used to work, using GPSU 4.95 and GPSU 4.99 under a 0.9?
(whatever version of wine was shipped with Ubunutu Hardy Heron) version of
wine. Since moving to Jaunty Jackalaope I haven't had it working.
I have recreated the problem using wine 1.1.27 with both GPSU 4.99 and GPSU
5.02.
I have done the usual things to ensure the com port under wine is linked to
/dev/ttyUSB0, and permissions are OK.
Working scenarios include:
- with Windows Vista i.e. running GPSU under Windows
- using gpsman under Linux - I can connect to the GPS on the serial port using
a native Linux app.
It is just using the windows app (GPSU) under wine that fails.

Console Output
When running Magic Online Version 3 with Wine, when I try to log in I receive
L0014: The Magic Online Server is down for maintenance. If you continue to
receive this error, check your date and time settings.
Note that this is different than bug 14060, as 14060 gives you L0001: You have
lost your connection to the server. Bug 14060 is supposedly (and from what I
see actually) fixed as of git from 1-20-09. I encountered this bug when I
tested with git from 1-22-09, and continues into 1-23-09.
Having spoken to other Magic Online players, I found that L0014 has been caused
(on Windows machines) by firewall issues, and also by incorrectly set Date and
Time. I do not know any such issues on my computer that would cause this bug,
but I am not certain that the problem is not my computer.
It seems to me that the bug is in schan - which was the cause of but 14060.
14060 was schan being not implemented, whereas this bug, unless the problem is
with my computer, may be that schan is half-implemented. (See, in the Console
Output, the "Using hardcoded "NORMAL" priority" messages.) However, this
paragraph is just speculation in case it gives someone an idea.

Spotted while retesting bug 33246. If gethostbyaddr is hacked to use 127.0.0.1
instead of the value passed the demo will go further and show some screens (and
then hang).
Maybe the right thing to do is to change back the magic address like done in
some different places in the code, like the do_connect or bind function.

Furthermore, background colors get altered in a few seconds: when X is at 16

gets saturated. Note that there is a rectangle around Manny which is at normal

The downloadable app installs fine and starts, but
the nice countdown that starts at "6" hangs at "5".
+relay shows it's probably a windows message problem?
Yeah, this version is six years old, but it's the only
freely downloadable trial I can find at the moment.

Summary: Path of Exile "Allocating Space" very slow, due to
NtFlushVirtualMemory being synchronous
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: ntdll
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: default_357-line(a)yahoo.de
Classification: Unclassified
The "Allocating Space" step of the Path of Exile installer/updater can take
upwards of ten hours to complete (compared to a few minutes under Windows).
Path of Exile calls FlushViewOfFile, which calls NtFlushVirtualMemory, which
calls msync with MS_SYNC. The MSDN documentation for FlushViewOfFile
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa366563%28v=vs.85%…
says, quote, "The FlushViewOfFile function does not flush the file metadata,
and it does not wait to return until the changes are flushed from the
underlying hardware disk cache and physically written to disk." This strongly
indicates that NtFlushVirtualMemory is meant to be asynchronous. I'll submit a
patch that corrects this, and fixes the Allocating Space slowdown.

Notepad2 is a light-weight, freeware text editor. After launching

occurred. The installation has not been completed.'
Afterwards the installer quits.
Notepad2_4.2.25_x86.exe is a self-extracting cab archive, I was able to extract
it's contents by the Linux cabextract tool.
The same problem is present in Wine-1.0.1, 1.2.3, 1.3.x.
During the operation there is no terminal output at all.

--- Comment #35 from Anastasius Focht <focht(a)gmx.net> ---
Hello folks,
I can't reproduce the crash with Notes 8.x
There was some recent work in Active Accessibility runtime (oleacc) that might
have improved the situation.
The app might be still a useful test case for Accessibility API, because it
makes heavy use of MSAA, especially in "preferences".

Wine doesn't set the HOMEDRIVE and HOMEPATH environment variables - but
applications may rely on them being set, since it's always the case in Windows.
I'm debugging Cooliris right now - and it crashes instantly because of
HOMEDRIVE and HOMEPATH. (I work there, so I have the source code.)

In order to submit results 3DMark needs to know your system characteristics
using systeminfo.
However the systeminfo part of 3DMark 06 doesn't work under Wine because it
tries to load and use a low level device driver which polls the system. I guess
this kind of functionality will never be supported in Wine (such Windows
drivers poll various PCI registers and read different RAM regions directly and
in every OS under the sun such an examination requires superuser privileges).

I want to add that I went into appdb, searched 3dmark06 and saw that you should
override 2 files, dx9_something_36 and something_28.
Don't remember the exact names. And also use -nosysteminfo parameter.
Well I overrun those files, but I didnt use nosysteminfo parameter and I could
succefully run hole 3dmark test.
The fps was maximum 40-50, lowest around 10 when using gpu tests.
I couldnt upload the result into 3dmark server...
But it feels that this program isnt far from working exactly like it should.

console output and suddenly it just opened a dialog (there was around 30s-1min
delay), but trying to run the benchmark gives an error

already mentioned here.
I rerun the program and it felt that the delay was a lot faster.
I don't see it complaining about pixel shaders.

TrackMania Forever fully freezes or works with under 1 FPS when it is loading
extra community made content. This includes e.g. player made car skins and
models.
This only happens on online multiplayer. The game runs perfectly after it has
finished the downloading or when playing single player. The problem can be
fixed by disabling the "PeerToPeer transfers" from the game options.

I think I can mostly reproduce this, although I don't have an exact fps count.
The profiler claims about 30% of CPU time is spent in DSOUND_mixthread(), which
seems excessive, and only very little in D3D code. My guess would be that this
is more of a sound issue.

becomes very slow, mouse shutters and xorg cpu load is about 67-80%. Here is a
video I recorded on camera. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JlW2qk7pV7c
Maybe that's not a wine bug, maybe something with intel HD 3000, but this

looking at the code, I noticed it was using directories named a,b,c in the

The tests should be using a temporary directory instead (and checking that the

Regression SHA1: 006413afe495fbf73542154462885e4fdbf12a2a
Outcry (Russian title: Sublustrum) is an adventure game. I have the English
version of the game, obtained from Gamersgate.
Subtitles, although they're scarce in the game, appear incorrectly in the
English version. Strange signs and symbols are shown instead of Latin letters.
As the game is from Russian developers, I tried to start the game with
'LANG=ru_RU.UTF-8 wine outcry.exe' and subtitles were displayed correctly...in
Russian with Cyrillic letters.
If I'm not mistaken, the full (English) version of the game contains both
Russian and English subtitles, but it displays the Russian one for some reason.
This wasn't always the case. I remember playing the game some time ago, around
Wine-1.3.17, and subtitles were displayed correctly (in English).
Regression testing revealed this (1.3.26 -> 1.3.27):
006413afe495fbf73542154462885e4fdbf12a2a is the first bad commit

The reverted patch (1.5.0) fixed the problem, and subtitles were displayed in
English.
There are both English and Russian demo versions available but none of them
show the same problem (probably because they contain subtitles only for their
language?)

I got the game running, but there are issues. You need to set wine as 95 mode
(didnt try 98, but xp doesn't work, it complains)
3dsetup complains while installing, error dialogue.
"Error! Could not get 'Hardwarekey' value."
Cant start 3dsetup...
But the demo starts!
Wine 1.7.17
Please confirm.

This happens when installing from a mounted .iso, but not when
installing from a directory you copy from the mounted .iso
or when installing from a real dvd.
Don't know if it's a bug in the installer, or an intended feature in the
installer, or a bug in wine, but it's annoying enough that I figured I'd
record a bug for it. I'll attach +relay,+file logs of the three cases
up to either the error message or the installer splash.

--- Comment #22 from Henri Verbeet <hverbeet(a)gmail.com> ---
The application appears to use the following pixel shader to draw the affected
geometry:
ps_1_1
def c6 = 1.000000, 0.000000, 0.000000, 0.000000
texld t[0]
texld t[1]
mad t[1].xyz, t[1].w, c[6], t[1]
dp3 r[0], t[1]_bx2, v[0]_bx2
mad r[0], r[0], c[1].w, c[1]
mul r[0].xyz, r[0], c[0]
mul_x2 r[0].xyz, r[0], t[0]
+mov r[0].w, t[0].w
As far as I can tell the shader itself gets translated correctly, but c[0] gets
set to {0.0, 0.0, 0.0, 1.0}. This then results in the black geometry. It's not
entirely clear why the application sets the shader constant to that value, and
unfortunately not entirely trivial to find out.

Hello,
I tried to use under wine 1.1.41 and 1.1.43 a GIS program, MapInfo 7.5. The
most features of MapInfo work normally except of color/pattern choosing
dialogs. E. g. if I try to change color of a line or a polygon a modal dialog
window opens. It has some controls to work using mouse. But after choosing
something from collors or patterns all controls become to be not available to
mouse. If I don't use mouse I can access every control using Tab and Enter
keys. But if I try to use mouse afterthem all controls on this dialog don't
work. This "not working" controls don't mimic pushig if I try to click them.
It's shows so as I'm clicking not in the control area. Maybe, the Z-order of
the child windows (controls) is differs under Windows and under Wine?

Summary: Baldur's Gate + winealsa + PulseAudio: Beginnings of
menu sounds are clipped
Product: Wine
Version: 1.3.10
Platform: x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal

Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: benshadwick(a)gmail.com
CC: m.b.lankhorst(a)gmail.com
I've been using Wine 1.2.x and 1.3.x (as recent as 1.3.10) under Ubuntu x64
versions 10.04 and 10.10 on a Dell XPS M1730 with integrated Sigmatel/IDT audio
chipset. I'm using the out-of-the-box sound setup, which means PulseAudio is in
charge. Sound in Linux apps other than Wine works fine.
When running Baldur's Gate (5-CD version w/TotSC and either 5512 or 5521
patches installed) under Wine using Wine's ALSA driver, all sounds in menus
(clicking buttons, moving inventory items around, etc.) have their first
half-second or so of sound cut off most of the time. This can be easily
reproduced by clicking any of the buttons on the game's main menu, which are
often completely inaudible due to this issue.
If I run a WinePulse-patched build of Wine and use its WinePulse driver on the
other hand, the sounds come through perfectly fine.
I am submitting this bug report because Maarten Lankhorst specifically asked in
bug #10495 that people file bug reports for issues with the winealsa driver
that are fixed by using winepulse.

Start Battle for Naboo and get into a game. As in actually playing. Press the
ESC key on the keyboard. This should swing over a "pause menu" with options
such as to abort, etc. Pressing ESC again will resume the game. I'm calling it
a "pause menu" because the game is paused while the menu is up.
Look at the metallic frame of the pause menu. See how it's flickery? That's
what I'm talking about. Not supposed to be like that.
Is this a big deal as far as game-play? Of course not. I just don't want to
leave bugs unreported.
This is my graphics card:
An ATI Redwood [Radeon HD 5670] using the fglrx proprietary driver.
modinfo said my ATI driver's srcversion is EEC3D3F06B0B31BC528C8D9.
I'm putting Wine 1.3.16 as the version, but I actually have never see WINE
render this right. I think it's an "original" bug, as opposed to one introduced
by a patch.

This is kind of cool. I grabbed my wife's ancient copy
of Microsoft Word 5.0 for DOS off the shelf where it
had lain ten+ years untouched. The app fits on a
single 720KB floppy. (The sha1sum of the floppy image is
8e6795facd2e3ff1db6628912c4da61a50dc402b.) The floppy
contains just the files
capture.com capture.doc ega.sys full.sty mous8514.sys mw.ini semi.sty
word.exe word.ovl word.pif
Running word.exe with wine does nothing useful.
Running it with wineconsole, on the other hand, puts up the main menu!
Sadly, it then seems to hang, taking no input.
The log shows

and then, after a minute,
err:int:TIMER_TimerProc DOS timer has been stuck for 60 seconds...
The int2f call seems to be asking DOS about the version of
WINOLDAP, see http://www.ctyme.com/intr/rb-4636.htm
To see what it's doing during the apparent hang, do +int,+int21.
This shows that it's actually checking the keyboard with int 16h.
Unfortunately, the keystrokes don't seem to be making it to the
app.
I'll attach a log showing a run where I pressed abcde ESC
and then killed the app. You can see the six keystrokes
clearly in lines like
trace:int:DOSVM_ProcessConsole scan 1e, ascii 61
but it didn't look like the next
trace:int:DOSVM_Int16Handler Check for Keystroke
reflected that a key was pressed. (It's hard to eyeball; I'll
need to write a perl script to make the data pop out.)

The game Star Trek: Legacy installs and run well until it tries to play a voice
over in one of the missions.
The sound in the menu and the introduction works fine and even some sound
effects and music. But when it tries to play this voice over, a exception
occurs.
After some debugging, I discovered that it seems like the game tries to open a
file and doesn't test if it was successful, leading to a page fault in case of
failure when it tries to read it.
The strange thing is that there seems to be no reason why the file can't be
accessed. The path is right and the permissions are good. I can even play the
sound using aplay.
The relevant part of the log with WINEDEBUG=+file is this (I know I shouldn't

http://www.download-free-games.com/simulation/rollercoaster_tycoon2.htm
has a sneaky download form.
If you mouse over the download button, or right click and copy link, you see
http://d.trymedia.com/d/infogrames/60m_d_61_mp86/t_04se1/RollerCoasterTycoo…
which is the real app, but if you click on the download button, it downloads
http://38.108.189.230/[very long string]/dm3/RollerCoasterTycoon2-dm.exe
The latter app is a Macrovision download manager, judging by the line
trace:wininet:HTTP_HttpSendRequestW full request -> "GET

Macrovision_DM_2.4.152\r\nPragma: no-cache\r\n\r\n"
On Wine, it downloads one file, named e.g.
C:/users/dank/Local Settings/Temporary Internet
Files/Content.IE5/UGYJ9D59/RollerCoasterTycoon2[0]
/bin/file says that file contains ASCII text. cat shows
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-16"?>

<files>
<file execute="yes" stamp="yes">
<url>http://cdn.dli.trymedia.com/r/release/infogrames/60m_d_61_mp86/RollerCoaste…</url>
</file>
</files>
</dm>
(so the file body appears to disagree with the header about the encoding?)
With builtin DLLs, it gets lots of those files, repeatedly outputting
fixme:wininet:CommitUrlCacheEntryInternal entry already in cache - don't know
what to do!
With "winetricks msxml3", it doesn't repeat, it just downloads one XML
file and stops. So it seems there's something wrong with how we handle
that XML file?
(With "winetricks ie6", you get a nice status window, which at this point asks
if you want to retry.)
On Windows, I couldn't catch it downloading that XML file, but the downloader
does work.

Bug #: 30118
Summary: Sound occasionally stalls past underrun, bypassing our
lead-in writer
Product: Wine
Version: 1.4-rc5
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: winealsa.drv
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: hoehle(a)users.sourceforge.net
Classification: Unclassified
Attachment #39217 to bug #29294 contains a log where Civilization 5 audio
stalls after an underrun.
99% of the time, an underrun happens while the mmdevapi render callback sleeps.
snd_pcm_avail is then the first to detect it, recovers, writes the lead-in and
audio is running again. This happened 266 times in the log:
62.063:alsa_write_data XRun state avail 12689, recovering
In rare cases, the underrun did not yet occur when snd_pcm_avail was called
rather than a few µs later in snd_pcm_write.
62.190:alsa_write_data pad: 4245
62.190:alsa_write_best_effort writei failed, recovering: -32 (Broken pipe)
ALSA lib pcm.c:7316:(snd_pcm_recover) underrun occurred
Following that, ALSA has a little data
62.201:alsa_write_data pad: 512
62.211:alsa:alsa_write_data pad: 5120
but somehow DSound stops feeding it.
Now bug #29294 involves Jack whose precise behaviour I don't know, but here's
what would happen when using plain plug:dmix or hw:0: Our lead-in writer does
not trigger because it sits before snd_pcm_write. The key issue is that ALSA
has less than one period of data, so it doesn't start! That is known behaviour
from both dmix and hw:x,y devices.
23.054:AudioClient_Initialize ALSA period: 5512 frames
23.055:AudioClient_Initialize ALSA buffer: 16537 frames
23.055:AudioClient_Initialize MMDevice period: 441 frames
23.055:AudioClient_Initialize MMDevice buffer: 5120 frames
As a result, position does not increase. The little data prevents writing the
lead-in upon subsequent callback invocations. Unfortunately, DSound is
presumably waiting for a particular position to be reached to continue feeding
data.
Position would increase and bump to max = release_frames - held_frames if it
would hit another underun -- if ALSA had managed to start.
So this is partly a bug in DSound which I've already blamed for using
GetPosition instead of GetCurrentPadding when feeding data, witness comment
#21, bug #29472, comment #17 or bug #29497, comment #1. However the subject of
this bug report shall be winealsa's incomplete underrun recovery.
Also note another issue here: mmdevapi's buffer of 5120 frames is smaller than
ALSA's period! Thanks to the lead-in, that nevertheless works at start.
Perhaps DSound would not have stalled had that buffer been larger; it might

Months ago I conducted many tests with different buffer and period sizes in
exclusive mode but have not finalized that work about the minimum and maximum
buffer sizes and when to return E_INVALID_DEVICE_PERIOD or
AUDCLNT_E_BUFFER_SIZE_ERROR etc. That's still a TODO on my list. That work
has been very revealing about the relationship between mmdevapi and alsa buffer
and period sizes. Presumably, mmdevapi must create a buffer at least as large
as ALSA's period.

is a simple script that downloads all of the prerequisites
for building inkscape on windows, grabs the source from svn,

to run it in cygwin (and in cygwin on wine).
This script runs to completion on Windows, but on Wine, it failed for me
with
Make error line 291: executeProgram: could not create pipe

Oddly, rerunning the script in the same wineconsole window
failed quickly with various symptoms, including

Even more oddly, problem persisted even in a new wineconsole window;
bash just wasn't happy.

Unsure how to report "traces" etc. I'm running Linux Mint 9 on an HP 530
laptop. I downloaded AMAYA earlier this week and the installation into WINE
(latest version) reported a missing file (can't remember which one). I
searched for it and installed this "missing" file - and it still does not work.
When trying to run the program it generates a "must close" window.
The same EXE installed perfectly on my Win XP (sp3) and Win 7 machines.
Just for the record, the Linux version of AMAYA failed to install in Mint 9
which prompted the use of WINE.
ALSO - whilst most apps run well under WINE, Paintshop Pro 7 did, but now does
not, run under WINE. Not sure why or if this is relevant.

Under normal configuration, Wine version 1.6.1, I was able to install Need For

under either version 1.6.1 or version 1.7.17. I've set Wine to launch the game
under Windows 98 emulation (with a 1024X768 emulated desktop) and renamed the
game's copy of gimmie.dll (this is a workaround I've seen multiple times
online).

icon itself is clicked on (to see the list of pieces) a serious error occurs

Screenshot of the game as it appeares in 8bpp "StaticColor" mode
In a real Windows installation (either on the real hardware or within vmware),
MS Pinball Arcade looks normal, but when running under Wine/Linux in an Xorg
8bpp StaticColor visual, it looks like some color depth is being lost, almost
like 7 bits per pixel. This affects all parts of the game - intro screens, the
menu, ,loading screens, and game tables.
If you switch to a StaticGray visual, you get what looks like a full 256-greys
screen. Brightness transitions are smoother (e.g. finer steps and banding)
than their StaticColor counterparts.
In the screenshots, it is probably easiest to see the difference between the
two visuals along the edges of the table and in the ball launch trough on the
right.
Expected Results:
The game should look exactly like it does in Windows.
Affected Versions:
All recent versions up through 1.0 rc1. I can't be sure when this started,
I've only been using Wine since around 0.9.31.

I looked at "Bug 29092 - Myst Masterpiece crashes on game entry", but mine
appears to be different.
The Myst Masterpiece Edition setup seems to work fine, and afterwards when
attempting to run the game for the first time it crashes with an error message
that reads: "The program Myst.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs
to close. We are sorry for the inconvienience."
This is on Ubuntu 10.04 32bit with wine 1.2.2.
I have attached what i hope is the backtrace info that you need.
The game is not able to even start, and the debug program never seems to start
automatically either.

the try out version.
After a photo is loaded and an action, what ever, for example filter. The photo
disappears from the desktop. Photoshop is still running. It's possible to get
the photo back if "Window -> Tile -> Photo to Edit", and the photo is back on
screen. If filter menu is activated again, the photo disappears. It's like an
endless loop, and after some "get photo back" it's not possible to get the
photo back on screen.
This strange thing happens then "Emulate virtual desktop" is activated.
