Summary: unimplemented function WS2_32.dll.GetNameInfoW
Product: Wine
Version: 1.3.15
Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: winsock
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: alessandro(a)perucchi.org
I'm running an IBM application, a client called "Content Manager OnDemand
Client V. 8.5".
It works pretty well, at least in the previous version, and since the version
8.5.
I cannot connect to the server, because it has at least one function missing
from the Wine Implementation of WS2_32.dll.
The only log I have is the one in the summary.
I have tested it in Wine 1.3.14, but by looking at the source code of 1.3.15,
the missing function... is still missing.
If you need more info, please don't hesitate to contact me.
(I use Fedora 13 64bits in an Intel Proc Dual Core)
Cheers,
Alessandro
PS: I hope the Severity is correctly set, I was hesitating between
"Normal/Enhancement"...

Even though I have D: and D:: symlinked to /media/Sims3 and /dev/sr0,
and verified that InstallSource was set to d:\\ in the app's registry,
it still won't recognize the disc.
According to
http://www.snootysims.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=30012
Sims 3 uses a snippet of Securom code to check for the disc.

Just to confirm this is still an issue.
Tried Microsoft Money 2005 on both:
wine 1.4.1
wine 1.5.1
Using Ubuntu 12.04.1 32bit.
Using clean install (with each wine version) Microsoft Money 2005 installed ok,
minor issue with text in a couple of click boxes not readable.
However, on starting program it crashed at the splash screen.
I have attached backtrace outputs from each wine version.
Wine 1.4.1 - attachment 43004
Wine 1.5.19 - attachment 43005
Note that when Internet Explorer 6 was installed (I used winetricks) the
program started ok.

Attached C program can reproduce the problem (The binary attached is compiled
using Borland C++ Compiler 5.5.1).
On Windows XP Professional(32bit,SP3,Japanese), it produces following output
(and is what I expect):
Y:\dbcstest>test

Summary: RegOpenKeyExW causes dll initializations to fail
Product: Wine
Version: 1.5.18
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: advapi32
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: tom.gankema(a)gmail.com
Classification: Unclassified
I encountered this problem when trying to run a cracked version of Football
Manager 2013, this game works under windows though. The errors I got look like:
err:module:attach_process_dlls "mpr.dll" failed to initialize, aborting
Tried to trace it down and it seems to be caused by the RegOpenKeyExW function,
which is called somewhere in the initialization of the dll. When changing the
call to RegOpenKeyExA the problem seems to be solved, but I am not
knowledgeable to see what side effects this might have. The same problem occurs
for other dll initializations for this game.
So it seems to be an ansi / unicode error which not exists under windows.

After update to Wine 1.5.19 Atmel AVR Studio 4.19 stopped working. During
launch it shows error
"framework class: error while connecting to ROT: ('some number here')"
and force closes. Quick googling revealed that this error sometimes appears on
native Windows too and is somehow related to XML Parser

1.5.19. After reverting to 1.5.18 everything works fine.

as I own the full version.

Whenever the player dies the game crashes (without a usable backtrace).
Workaround to the problem can be found in AppDB: you need to remove some of the
.ttf files used by the game. They're eye.ttf, eye2.ttf, eye3.ttf, eye4.ttf.
'winetricks corefonts tahoma' doesn't help. I tested this bug with Wine 1.2.3,
1.4.1, 1.5.19. Please let me know if you need a debug log.

The font in selected Microsoft windows common controls is being displayed with
a smaller point size in WINE release 1.5.18 and later. The common control font
size in releases 1.5.17 and earlier are more consistent with those in
production Microsoft Windows based systems.
This can be seen in the WINE based programs regedit.exe, explorer.exe, the left
pane of .chm help files being displayed with hh.exe and many other applications
that use font based common controls. In some controls, it is very difficult to
see what is being displayed since the font is so small.
A regression analysis between releases 1.5.17 and 1.5.18 shows the problem was
created by commit 4a8716cf5b4a434d72638425038eff0f589f3871 dated November 15,
2012.

Unlike the demo version, the full version that I have from Gamersgate doesn't
install any MSVC++ libraries. With the built-in msvcr80.dll the game loads to
the main menu fine, but it crashes when I try to start a new game (somewhere
during the loading stage).
Workaround: winetricks vcrun2005
Steps to reproduce the problem with the demo version:
1. install the demo. Installation takes several minutes, be patient. Something
is not quite right with the installer under Wine, I'm frequently getting ***
glibc detected *** MSIEXEC.EXE... during the DirectX installation stage. Apart
from that the demo should be installed correctly.
2. set msvcr80=built-in and start the demo with ConflictDeniedOps.exe
3. in the config tool choose <Play Game>, create a new profile in the game
menu, <Play Demo>, select difficulty...the game begins to load but it crashes
during the loading stage.
Regarding debug logs: both the demo and the full version use Securom 7.35. It's
no problem to start the game normally under Wine, but Securom, it seems,
doesn't like such things as WINEDEBUG=+relay. However, I can provide a
+relay,+msvcrt,+seh,+tid debug log if that's needed.

here's a python program which, when run under wine, succeeds
when using native msvcrt, and fails using native, but for very
odd reasons (attached).
note the setting of locale (equivalent in c to setlocale(LC_TYPE,
"en_US.UTF-8")?
well, with native msvcrt.dll, that fails - the locale doesn't exist.
so, the test is skipped.
but under wine, it proceeds... and then wine fails to do the right things!
in other words, it _does_ identify 0xa0 as a space (true), it _does_
identify 0xc0 as alpha, and a number, and upper.
the next tests, which depend on 0xa0 being _not_ identified as space,
then obviously fail as well.
so the question is: strictly speaking, setlocale("en_US.UTF-8") shouldn't
be going ahead in the first place, but if it does, should these tests
work as expected?
wossgoinon? :)

Summary: UDF support: VOLUME_GetSuperblockSerial invalid for
some volume types
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Platform: All
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: kernel32
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: winehq.org(a)mcfang.com
Classification: Unclassified
VOLUME_GetSuperblockSerial returns an incorrect serial for certain UDF volumes.
Volume types affected:
* ISO9660+UDF for all revisions: Serial displays as '0104-0001'
* UDF revision 2.50/2.60: Serial displays as '0000-0000'
Serial is correct for standalone UDF revisions 1.02/1.50/2.00/2.01
Test Case: Run 'wine cmd' to open the command line and observe the output of
the `vol` command. Output differs from `vol` run on a native windows system for
the above volume types.
History: UDF support was introduced as a patch for bug #26273
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26273 and is hardcoded to use the 257th
sector (Address 526336) for serial calculation.
The actual sector used for serial calculations depends on the UDF revision and
volume type. I suspect the sector may be coded somewhere in the UDF
Specifications, and if that is the case then it should be a better solution
than hardcoding.
Serial calculations:
* Sector 257 for UDF revisions 1.02/1.50/2.00/2.01
* Sector 260 for ISO9660+UDF revisions 1.02/1.50/2.00/2.01
* Sector 320 for UDF revisions 2.50/2.60 with or without ISO9660

log of ssmsee.exe - steps as described.
To reproduce:
- run application
- connection window appears. Cancel this window.
- click New query button in the top toolbar. Another connection window
appeaers. Connect to a running instance of MS SQL Server.
A message box informing about an unhandled exception appears. It is possible to
click Continue, however the window that appears is unusable.
It used to work fine in wine-1.5.1. The commit that broke was "atl80: new dll".
There exists an easy workaround - start winecfg and in libraries tab set atl80
to native - the native dll is installed by application installer, so no further
steps are required.
winetricks dotnet20 and a recent version of windows in winecfg is needed to
start the application. Running instance of SQL Server is needed to reproduce
this bug.

Under Wine with built-in comctl32
I noticed a small issue when testing WinUAE. The WinUAE settings window has a
treeview at the left side. There are two expandable entries in the treeview
which are shown in bold. With native comctl32 and in Windows, hovering the
mouse pointer over the bold text causes it to be underlined. However with
Wine's built-in comctl32 the text is rendered as plain underlined in that case.
Attached screenshots for hovering over Hardware text with built-in comctl32 and
with native comctl32. (The mouse pointer is not visible in the screen
captures.)
To reproduce, download and run the WinUAE installer. Using built-in comctl32,
run WinUAE and when the settings window opens hover mouse over one of the bold
entries in the treeview. Repeat using native comctl32.

Summary: Slow UI and toolbar redraw in SolidWorks
Product: Wine
Version: 1.3.4
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: denis.bonnenfant(a)diderot.org
In SolidWorks, toolbars are organized in tabs, displayed contextually depending
on actions ( sketching, 3D functions... ).
Left panel displays a tree view, or functions properties.
toolbars :
Manual switching between tabs works normally, no slowdown, but sometimes tabs
are drawn outside of the application window, at the top left of the screen,
just below system bar (see screenshot). Moving windows erases this.
When tab switching is initiated by another operation, the refresh logic is not
good : first, toolbar is displayed, but then it is redrawn very slowly (1-2s,
left to right). This operation slows down all the UI, resulting in a very
unpleasant lag for user (icons can't be selected during redraw)
Left panel (property manager) :
It contain collapsable areas, containing different dialog boxes ( see
screenshot ).
On any updates, left panel is first displayed correctly and quite fastly. But
then titles of collapsable boxes and some graphic areas are erased very slowly
(1-2s, left to right) (see screenshot). This operation slows down all the UI,
resulting in a very unpleasant lag for user too

A simple example program is attached. Any attempt to use _mktime64 with a date
after ~2038 (i.e., any date that would require a 64-bit timestamp) returns -1
in Wine, but works ok in Windows (the example program shows 29348006400, tested
WinXP 32 and Win7 64, cross compiled mingw32 4.4.0).
Since there doesn't appear to be any way to force UNIX mktime to return a
64-bit value, I suspect the only work-around for this would be to re-implement
mktime in Wine.

Hello,
I was able to install NetObjects Fusion 7.5 (for creating a website). It runs
under WinXP with no problems, alas not under wine...
I tried looking for an existing bug, but I really haven't a clue what terms to
search for. Sorry if this is a duplicate and sorry, my English not the best...
NOF can be started, but when I want to create a new site or open an existing
site created under Windows (site_name.nod), I got a "fatal error", the program
freezes.
Before doing this all I copied all the necessary files from Windows into .wine
tail -f /var/log/messages shows no results.
By starting in a terminal I got the attached results (see the pdf).
My OP is Ubuntu 8.04 LTS.

supposed to write " 3.141593E-003" to the buffer, and return 14. Instead, on
Wine, it seems to be writing "3.141593E-003", and returning 13. It is omitting
the leading space.
I am unable to test this, as I am not a Wine user myself. I am relying on
information from pitt, and I do not Wine version. His Linux version is Fedora
16, but I don't know whether 32 or 64 bit.
For what it's worth, I tried it in ReactOS .3.14, and it worked correctly.
Could someone please verify this problem? If this has already been fixed in a
new version, please say so.
Regards,
Michael

This is part 2 of bug 26754
wineboot crashes on start, without a backtrace, but it doesn't seem fatal.
Running wineboot a second time works, and notepad/etc. work. The culprit is
cabinet.dll, using one compiled with gcc works fine. I've attached the
backtrace from running make -k test for cabinet.dll.
+relay works around this as well.

Adding '#undef _FILE_OFFSET_BITS' after '#include "config.h" to
dlls/ntdll/file.c is a workaround. Probably configure needs to add
'#define _FILE_OFFSET_BITS 64' when detecting the presence of various
optional libc exports (in case it was detected to be required).

I hit a clang bug recently, that required upgrading to trunk from 2.9 (or going
down to 2.8):
http://llvm.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=9676
that's been fixed. Compiling wine from trunk works, but running it crashes in
wineboot. Backtrace indicates comctl32, and indeed, compiling just comctl32
with gcc gets regedit working.
Wineboot still shows a crash, but doesn't seem fatal. No backtrace though..
Comctl32/regedit backtrace attached.

Hello Florian,
--- quote ---
Hm, I tried to get wine to compile this, but it seems to break things.
Maybe worth to know where to add this, better to have a patch altering this for
current wine (1.5.19)
--- quote ---
This was most likely fixed on their side in newer versions of client.
If you don't get "error 110" then the PIC prolog code is no longer a problem.
A rough check for Themida software protection version is to run app with
"WINEDEBUG=+debugstr".
The output will contain a copyright string like this:
--- snip ---
0046:warn:debugstr:OutputDebugStringA
"\r\n\n\n%s------------------------------------------------\n\r---
Themida Professional ---\n\r--- (c)2012 Oreans Technologies
---\n\r------------------------------------------------\r\n\n\n"
--- snip ---
A detailed version check (major/minor) can only be made by signature analysis
or debugging.
Anyway, that "error 108" is about system DLL copies (kernel32.dll and friends)
in temp folder (native vs. builtin/placeholder).
The copy in temp folder has "SLLX" magic at the end of file (last DWORD ->
0x53,0x4C,0x4C,0x58).
Adjusting summary accordingly.
Internal error:

--- snip ---
(game code differs between games)
Log before being obfuscated and written to "hshield.log":

C:\windows\system32\Kernel32.dll 1
--- snip ---
I've not looked that deep into HackShield but it might be possible to come up
with a Wine builtin "Ehsvc.dll" that avoids all the mess (similar to
PunkBuster).
"Ehsvc.dll" serves as interface between HackShield and the secured process.

Maybe someone should tell them that they not only leaving linux allone it is
also MacOS, which is a significant difference, as MacOS has become a
significant and growing player on private market, additionally its users
normally have no dualBoot or windows license at hand, to have even the
possibility to take this way.

Hello folks,

the interesting part is that this shouldn't be anymore a themida issue, as here

wine. So whats wrong here, do the hackshield people pirate there themida
version, or why else can't they update?

The problem was always at the customers side (Ahnlabs, ...) that bought the
protection suite from Oreans and incorporated it into their own products.
For a long time they did not bother to ship their products with an updated
version of Themida that ought to fix Wine issues.
Though the situation might have changed.
It's probably better to split this bug (based on comment #40), targeting error
108, 110 separately.

Hi Jorg, it was meant, that winecfg lost the setting, so you can't conveniently
turn the sound off, so the first choice is valid:
> - winecfg does not have that checkbox anymore, so that
> you don't know what GUI could bt used to turn sound off?
But as is mentioned above, i can running the game with the parameter:
wine Heroes.exe /s0
and the game works, unfortunately without sounds. Without the parameter the
game still freezes with black screen on startup, ie. bug still present in
wine-1.5.19-152.

I tested PuTTY 0.60 with wine-1.5.19-74-g4bb92e1 and the problem seems to be
fixed. However you need to disable the "Allow the window manager to decorate
the windows" option in winecfg first.
I didn't do a regression test to see which commit fixed things, but it may well
be the same one which fixed bug 32394. (Bug 32394 may effectively be a
duplicate of this one.)
winex11: Send WM_EXITSIZEMOVE when the mouse has been released.
http://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git/commit/ed47a507d0ec9b1d5771ea86b4b7fb…
and/or possibly
winex11: Send WM_ENTERSIZEMOVE when starting to poll for a window move/resize.
http://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git/commit/91ebca2bf10e3ef5edcb65868a8f3c…
[I noticed a problem when the "Allow the window manager to control the windows"
option is disabled as well. In that case the PuTTY window cannot be activated;
keyboard input goes to the console instead. I guess opening a separate bug for
that would be best though.]

I checked: this bug exists in PuTTY 0.60 (with the latest wine 1.5.18), but
disappeared in 0.61 and later.
However, I think it is still a valid bug for Wine, because the same (old)
version of PuTTY behaves differently in Wine (where bug exists) and in Win32
(where it doesn't).
Old version of PuTTY can be downloaded from

Certainly still applies. The "winmm call from within winmm callback" makes
this an issue that'll not get resolved by chance.
>The workaround by turning sound off in winecfg by
>unchecking alsa seems to be gone in recent wines.
Wylda, what do you mean?
- winecfg does not have that checkbox anymore, so that
you don't know what GUI could bt used to turn sound off?
- HoMM does not work anymore when sound is turned off in
Wine (however that is achieved, e.g. registry or WINEDLLOVERRIDES)?
If the latter, please file a distinct regression bug.

I downloaded PuTTY 0.62 and ran it under Wine 1.5.5. I was able to increase the
window size even though the window manager was decorating the windows (cf.
comment 7).
I ran PuTTY and connected via Telnet to telehack.com. At the initial screen I
increased the window height and typed help to print some text which filled the
new window height.
Perhaps this problem only showed up with older versions of PuTTY?

These deadlocks did not occur with earlier versions of wine as 1.5.11. As I did
not change anything except wine, my conclusion is its a regression.

The following commit causes problems in a couple of games, I believe the issues
are somehow related. The reported problems exist both in virtual desktop and
full screen mode.
In Riven (The sequel to Myst) when I press the <Alt> key to access the in-game
menu, the menu bar at the top does open correctly, but pressing <Alt> again
doesn't hide it: it still remains on the screen. Cycling through the various
menu options causes the previous option remain opened and they're overlapping
each other (see attached screenshot).
This particular commit causes problems in certain games that start with a
configuration tool (Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath HD and many games from the
developer SCS Software). In the configuration tool of these games there are
drop-down menus allowing to change various settings. When I open one of them
they remain opened even if I select another drop-down list.

When I updated from wine 1.3.22 to 1.3.23, COD4 rendered particles faulty: the
textures constantly switch from normal to spritesheet appearance.
I'm running Linux 2.6.32.26-175.fc12.x86_64 (Fedora 12) with NVIDIA GTX470 gfx
card using stable driver version 195.36.31.
No winetricks.
The bug is still present in the latest (1.5.19) devel version of wine.
So this is a regression.
First I thought this was a duplicate of bug 27630, but I'm using an NVIDIA card
and the bug persists in wine 1.5.19.
I located the patch that broke it :
Merging the reverted patch in wine 1.5.19 solves the problem.
However I assume this disables the new GL_ARB_ code? Anyhow, my gfx card should
be able to handle the latest GL extensions.

Interestingly enough, this is pretty much the same workaround people came up
with for getting Worms Armageddon to work in Windows 8. I don't think that's a
coincidence. (However, there are now better workarounds that have been
discovered but they look Windows-specific).
I also don't believe this would work in a virtual desktop, which people with
multiple monitors (well, on my setup at least) pretty much require because
otherwise nothing can get the damn resolution correct.
However, it's worth noting if nobody has already that the Worms Armageddon
maintainers have implemented the "Use DesktopWindow" workaround (essentially
the same effect as the wine patches that were going around ages ago) into Worms
Armageddon itself (the game suggests you enable it when you first start it with
the newest update) so that the game will work in wine, at the cost of ingame
minimisation.

could be used to work around the problem, and I found it could be done trough
KDE's settings for the translucency effect.
By configuring general translucency settings for dialogs to something like 50%
I could see the game's directdraw area(?) trough the covering dialog-window.
I settled for 50% because when I need to undo the workaround, it's not nice to
work with completely transparent dialogues. (And for diablo it only matters
while navigating the menu. YMMV for other games.)

The 2nd time in when you find a pair of skeltons in a burned out house.
Later on it's most obvious when you enter a grove with trolls and a whole bunch

The screenshot shows that it appears to be certain objects with the problem
(most notably skeleton hands).

Hello,
I recently resumed some investigations with Windows on ARM apps/installers and
ran into a problem due to a kernel 3.2 -> 3.0 downgrade.
The kernel downgrade was necessary because Freescale left Linaro some months
ago, stalling/halting all Linaro projects targeting i.mx platforms (the last
kernels were still buggy as hell anyway).
Back to a Linux 3.0.x kernel now which is being actively developed/maintained
within Freescale.
Unfortunately all wine builtins simply segfault on startup.
The code that fails:
http://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git/blob/6ec731b65cb6525d04b86737ff85a3e7…

203 struct ntdll_thread_data *thread_data;
204 static struct debug_info debug_info; /* debug info for initial thread

205
206 virtual_init();

210 addr = (void *)0x7ffe0000;
211 size = 0x10000;
212 NtAllocateVirtualMemory( NtCurrentProcess(), &addr, 0, &size,
MEM_RESERVE|MEM_COMMIT, PAGE_READWRITE );

...
293 /* initialize time values in user_shared_data */
294 NtQuerySystemTime( &now );
295 user_shared_data->SystemTime.LowPart = now.u.LowPart;
--- snip ---
NtAllocateVirtualMemory() fails to reserve that range but no return value
evaluation takes place hence the initial start address value is still taken.
Dereferencing of "user_shared_data" (USER_SHARED_DATA) causes the segfault.

I worked around by moving to a 3GiB/1GiB user/kernel virtual memory split ->
CONFIG_PAGE_OFFSET=0xC0000000.
Anyway the reservation failure should be handled gracefully by either refusing
to run (at least on x86 platforms) or accept a new address range.
I don't know if USER_SHARED_DATA at 0x7ffe0000 exists/makes sense for Windows
on ARM platforms.
One has yet to see a real WoA system...

under the latest version of wine, this program is fully functional EXCEPT that
the radar picture is shifted up in the viewing window. This leaves the lower
third of the window black. The major problem with this is that when trying to
sample the radar, it is reading data as if the radar image were centered. On
the attached screen cap you can see the radar offset. you can see the data
problem by looking at the "status" bar at the bottom of the program window.
note that the pointer is on the radar site KFFC thus the bering and distance
data on the status bar should read 0.00nm as opposed to 50.92. if i point the
mouse further south it approaches 0. if this is not a detailed enough
discussion please let me know. thanks.

The cygwin shell script,
http://kegel.com/wine/vc2005x.sh.txt
runs properly on Windows Vista and Windows 7, but
fails on Wine because the script continues on to
the "rm -rf" immediately rather than waiting for
Ixpvc.exe to finish, as it does on Windows.
I suspect this is a bug in wine's cmd. Removing
the cmd /c prefix from the commandline, to let
cygwin's shell run Ixpvc itself, behaves properly,
and the following lines aren't run until Ixpvc finishes.
(The only reason the cmd is in the script at all
is because it was the only way I could get Ixpvc to
run at all on Windows; without it, Windows would
report "permission denied", presumably because it
thought some bad script was trying to install something.)

Using "full" audio hardware acceleration settings, I get no audio in Supreme
Commander. dsound logs look ok apart from "warn:dsalsa:SetFormat Could not set
sound rate to 48000, but instead to 44100". Seems my sound card (Intel
HDA/SB7xx Azalia; audio was broken with my old ES1370 card, too, though) does
not support 48kHz sample rate or something. In AppDB setting default sample
rate to 48k is recommended (no sound otherwise?- Don't know.) so perhaps this
is related.
The game works flawlessly in Windows. Sound works in Wine with audio hardware
acceleration: "emulation" setting here, too.
Logs for emulation/full acceleration are attached.

If Pikachu Volleyball is paused while the picture is fading-in or fading-out,
opening and closing menus can cause unexpected changes to the picture. Opening
and closing any menu in the game, including the "game" menu where the pause
option is located, causes the area behind that menu to become brighter or
darker.
If the game was paused while the picture was fading in, the area becomes
brighter; if the picture was fading out, the area becomes darker. If a menu is
repeatedly opened and closed, the problem grows progressively worse until the
area is at full brightness (for fade-in) or completely black (for fade-out).
These fade-in and fade-out effects occur at the start of each match and
whenever either player scores a point.

If you have a program that creates a child window and then tries to render

This doesn't seem to happen with the nvidia drivers, so it could be an intel

Olympus Master Installation Log
Olympus Master is a program created by Olympus, a camera manufacturer. Olympus
master can be used to transfer and edit digital photos, and it is required to
update the firmware on Olympus Cameras. When trying to start the program, it
complains about "vcmop.dll". I looked up this dll file, and it appears to be a
"Microsoft® C/C++ OpenMP Runtime DLL", which is part of Visual Studio 2005. For
some reason the installer for the Olympus Master doesn't provide this required
file, however, after extracting the files from the Installation exe file, I
noticed it includes copies of Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable, in
both x86 and x64 format. This lead me to assume that something is wrong with
how Wine handles the installation process, as Visual C++ 2005 should've been
installed if it was included in the Installation File. I then proceeded to
remove all the files related to Olympus Master from my wine drive_c, using the
remove option in the Uninstall Wine Software menu, however this didn't work, as
everytime I tried, I got an error message saying that msiexec.exe has
encountered a serious problem and needs to close, so I simply deleted the
Olympus Folders from Program Files. After that, I reinstalled Olympus Master
through terminal to get debugging information. The log files are attached.

Nightingale does not start without crashing. It happened three contiguous

Eventually, I was able to prevent it from crashing by halting the media-library
update. The first time that I started Nightingale after installing wine-1.5.8
it wasn't updating the library, but rather something else. I forgot what
exactly that it was checking, but a progress bar did appear. I think that it
could have been version-checking.

Now that Image Composite Editor can be installed (see bug 32187), it fails on

fixme:mscoree:CLRMetaHost_GetRuntime Unrecognized version L"v4.0"
I take that to mean that Wine's Mono support does not extend to .Net 4,
although the further message below might mean it's just PresentationFramework
support that's missing (but it feels like it's just going to be the next
roadblock).
trace:mscoree:mono_assembly_search_hook_fn "PresentationFramework,

In any case, installing .Net 4 gets it to fail with another error altogether
(see bug 29676).
I'm attaching a +mscoree trace for reference.

When trying to run the Football Manager 2013 demo, the game crashes with two
Fatal Error popups about SetNamedPipeHandleState and ConnectNamedPipe (see

After some research I found out that the game doesn't crash if I change the
function SetNamedPipeHandleState to return true instead of false (see attached
patch). I have no idea what this does, but the game runs flawlessly with this
change, although it takes quite a lot of time to start.
This may be related to bug 17273, but the patches posted there look a lot
scarier.

This change brought a very big improvement regarding the scrolling speed an
mentioned in "Bug 27181 - Very slow performance in Word 2007", that is updated
by mistake (sorry!).
Reversing this fix brings back the good antiliasing but at the cost of slow
scrolling.

Format Factory, works great in wine. Installation, video conversion without any
problems.
But when you open the box for video, the program crashes.
opens the error.
This check box is where you can change the audio (useful for movies) and you
can also cut a piece of video.
This problem happens with the latest version of the Format 2.90, but it also
happens with the oldest from of 2.30.
A detail, clicking the close button of the error box of wine, the process
continues running mplayer.exe, the whole interface format factory closes, but
the sound of the video is running.

Regression SHA1: 47c54c4ae7f235780a55ddf670503db4afc11055
Since wine 1.5.14, Uru [1] does not start properly anymore: The full-screen
window which appears is entirely black, and the mouse is restricted to a small
rectangle at the top left. If I wait long enough, I can hear the sound of the
first world that is loaded, so everything is working fine except that nothing
is actually displayed.
Uru worked all right in wine 1.5.13. I did a bisect, which revealed that the
following commit introduces this regression:
commit 47c54c4ae7f235780a55ddf670503db4afc11055

winex11: Fullscreen windows are never maximized.
Some window managers incorrectly set maximized state on fullscreen windows.
I am using KDE 4.9.1, so my window manager is KWin.

Summary: External environment variables interfere with cmd
runtest, causing it to issue false errors
Product: Wine
Version: 1.5.15

Created attachment 42301
--> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=42301
Examples of failed and successful 'make test' output
Runtest ('make test') in programs/cmd/tests fails for me (see attachment for
test output). The likely cause is due to the command 'set BA' in the 'Testing
set' section of test_builtins.cmd. When cmd is given this command, it echoes
all environment variables that begin with BA as well as the desired output
BAZ=bazbaz, which throws the test output out of sync with the expected output.
I am able to fix the problem by unsetting such variables (e.g. BASH_ENV) before
running 'make test'. The cmd documentation states that importing variables
into cmd from the shell environment is a desired feature, thus I would
recommend that the cmd test suite selectively unset or unexport environment
variables prior to running the test (but please do not unset critical ones like
DISPLAY).
This problem may be related to bug # 31889.

Material Brave is a Japanese game. An extra pack which can run independently
can be downloaded here:
http://caras.rassyai.com/~tgl-kikaku/materialbrave_ee1.zip
It hangs on starting and wine complains "wined3d_cs wait timed out".
The deadlock probably happens when d3d9_device_GetBackBuffer is called.
If ORM is set to backbuffer, the game runs well except that graphics is upside
down.
