WebSlingPlayer is available for both Firefox and IE. The Firefox version works
fine.
However, running under Wine's iexplore fails.
To recreate:
1. Go to http://www.sling.com/sling_player
2. Log in.
At this point you should be asked "Do you have a Slingbox setup to use?" (or
similar), but iexplore just sits there doing nothing.
On closing, iexplore remains in the background and runs at around 50% CPU.
There is nothing in the console to give a clue.
Native IE6 is much worse; no page loads at all.

The .exes are stored in a cache but running them directly exits silently, and
the client tries to download them again. (The client sends a refresh so that a
caching proxy has to re-download it too - annoying).

Single Player Game Setup (shows overlapping text)
All of the text in Sins of a Solar Empire, is rendered too large. This applies
to the in-game HUD, annotations, and the menus.
I am not the first to find this bug, I first saw it here, with a bit of a
workaround.
http://forums.stardock.com/171844/page/4
The game has a Font directory that contains 4 .ttf files and 34 .font files.
The .font files are just text and look like a way for the game to access a
named combination of a height and .ttf file.
This is an example of a .font file:
-----------
TXT
Font
Height 28
TypeFaceName "SinsAgencyBold"
-----------
SinsAgencyBold.ttf is in the Font directory.
This particular system of font indirection seems pretty straightforward and
non-OS-specific, so I don't think it is the main issue here. At the end of the
forums.stardock.com link above, there is a workaround that involves editing the
Height values in the various .font files.
This workaround helps a bit, but it would be nice if it just worked like in
Windows! :)

Bug #: 31689
Summary: Recent devel versions of WINE report "Not enough
memory" on open or save document attempts in MS Office
2003
Product: Wine
Version: 1.5.12
Platform: x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: kernel32
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: olelukoie(a)mail.ru
Classification: Unclassified
When using recent versions of wine (beginning from version 1.5.10 at least)
with MS Office 2003 on Linux I encounter the problem with opening and saving
documents.
The problem is that on any attempt to open or save any document in Word 2003 or
Excel 2003 I see an error message stating "Not enough memory" and suggesting
to save document. (I've tested only Word and Excel but the same problem could
appear in othe Office 2003 apps).
I've made git bisec and it gave me the following:
4d7f510bef0891004bf5f1570148eeaf9ef73ee0 is the first bad commit
commit 4d7f510bef0891004bf5f1570148eeaf9ef73ee0

I've tried to revert this commit and it fixed the problem.
I use Mageia 2 x86_64 Linux.

Summary: no mouse or keyboard in orcs must die
Product: Wine
Version: 1.5.4

Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal

Component: directx-dinput
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: felix(a)compsoc.nuigalway.ie
Classification: Unclassified
The game "Orcs must die!" no longer detects keyboard and mouse input.
Initially the mouse cursor (sword) is shown on the first splash screen and can
be moved, but by the time it has cycled through the various splash videos and
arrived at the menu, there is no longer a cursor and keyboard input is limited
to the down arrow, enter and escape.
Using the limited keyboard keys you can access the settings -> controls sub
menu to see it show an Xbox controller as the expected input. It should show a
keyboard and mouse layout graphic with the various control keys highlighted
This used to work before, regression occurred with commit
a84d2fe20e5479fae8ea9660167ebfac95eafa99 dinput: Stub IDirectInputJoyConfig8
interface.
87a770fa732cfb1088a074f34c8e2075f827199a is the last known good commit
To test you can revert the following 4 commits in order to get a clean revert:
7260132c5d8aa0aa753c12d1e7420c307e651359 dinput: Fix device enumeration by DX8
device type.

enum devices.
a84d2fe20e5479fae8ea9660167ebfac95eafa99 dinput: Stub IDirectInputJoyConfig8
interface.
Removing all 4 commits on top of 1.5.4, allows the game to correctly detect
keyboard and mouse

and the progress bar was still at 0%. The copy process has stoped and I killed
the installer and could successfull start Diablo III.

Hi,
Elster is the official German program required to submit income tax statements
etc., so I consider it rather important. It is nice that it mostly installs and
works fine with wine by now. But one problem is left:
The built-in help (which seems to be winhelp) does not work, neither the
on-screen display of the help relating the currently selected field, nor the
regular help browser.
It would be good if this can be fixed. You can download elster for free on

Thanks,

Minimal nk2 file sample
NK2.info.exe is an application that parses the contents of an "Outlook auto
completion file" (extention .nk2), and converts it to a csv file. It allows
users of the Microsoft Outlook email client to back up and migrate email
addresses.
The parsing process in NK2.info.exe is very time-consuming in wine compared to
native WinXP. The attached sample nk2 file (976 bytes) takes appr. 10 seconds
to process in the test environment.
A file of 300Kb was also tested and consumed all CPU for more than 5 minutes
without completing. The same file was used under WinXP completing in less than
5 seconds.
I wonder if something could be done to investiage the matter. Thanks.

Some of the features of the PSP10 installer Window don't appear to get drawn
such as tickboxes, drop-down menus, progress bars etc. If you click them then
they will appear, but moving the window off the screen, hovering the mouse over
them, or in the case of progress bars them updating themselves doesn't cause
them to show up. It's not major but can be confusing.

Hi!
I just noticed that shapes get transparent if you use calibri and the ä,ö,ü.
Using different fonts make the shape intransparent again. also you cannot set
the transparency for the filling because it is said to be non-transparent.
I attached a screenshot showing the problem.

No matter what Windows version Wine is set to, the builtin cmd always behaves
like DOS regarding the interpretation of the '^' character. This breaks the
TexLive 2012 install script install-tl.bat.
The batch file contains the following test:
rem First, check if this is DOS based system
rem in DOS '^' is just a normal character
if not ^x==x goto DOS
As the script jumps to the DOS section and fails, cmd obviously interprets '^'
as a normal character, which is wrong for Windows version 2000 (maybe even NT?)
and above.

debug at time of app crash
A recent wine 1.4 (July 24 2012) update broke a windows app (ContactKeeper.exe)
that was working ok prior to update.
(Program opens but crashes when menu items are accessed or even if porgram
closed straight after opening).
Observation:
ContactKeeper.exe depends on (ODBC) jet40 dlls.
I noticed that:
~/.wine/dosdevices/c:/Program Files (x86)/Common Files/Microsoft Shared/..
became:
~/.wine/dosdevices/c:/Program Files (x86)/Common Files/Microsoft shared/..
after the update which is the path to the 'dao360.dll' file.
Tried changing dir name from "Microsoft shared" to "Microsoft Shared" but this
did not resolve issue.
ContactKeeper working again after I restored from (pre-wine updated) backup
(and locked version of wine to prevent wine update from re-installing).

I also have this problem on x86. It takes a longer time to be noticed there,
but I believe that this is not because of the platform, but because my x86 is a
dual core and my x86_64 is a quad core with hyperthreading. Or maybe because of
the graphic card.
My x86_64 system is a Lenovo T530 with intel hd 4000 graphics and drivers
2.20.5, x86 is a desktop with nvidia graphics.
I also verified that the problem is still there in commit

I have attached backtraces of both thread 23 and 2d from the error log.

Files in ~/ can be deleted or written by wine, which can cause file corruption

should be up to the user of wine to decide if they should have y:/z: without
sacrifacing the functionality of wine.

Backtrace of an unhandled exception.
When native dinput.dll is selected in the wine configuration menu Final Fantasy
VII fails to execute successfully, exiting with an unhandled exception.
The version of Final Fantasy VII in question is the new 2012 release. This
application can be run successfully by not using native dinput.dll. However,
gamepads do not work in game. The interesting thing is that in the launcher
program it is possible to interact with the controller settings menu using the
gamepad, yet these settings seem not to be in effect when the game proper
launches.
I've attached a copy of a back trace that results from the unhandled exception.

I have the Steam retail version of X3, Terran conflict and the latest release.
Last week I successfully connected my USB Logitech Rumble pad 2 and Saitek evo
Force and played X3 with both those controllers.
Since then due to issues caused by other games I had created a new Steam
install with winetricks, did all the native dll stuff to get the movies and
sounds going and X3 runs but now it won't detect any game controllers.
if I run dmesg in a terminal it sees both devices in linux but now the dropdown
box is empty in the X3 loader.
What could I possibly have had installed in the old prefix that I need to
install now so that the controllers can be used again?

Tried again. Now Wine 1.4 on Linux Mint 13 32-bit. Same error as before.
Nevertheless, this post says that on Windows XP 32-bit, it could work in
Windows 95 compatibility mode in 256 colors box checked and check turn off
advanced services.
I cannot test it at this moment. And I do know whether there is a equivalent
setting in Wine.

1. I'm not sure whether it was before or after installing winetricks and mono,
but at some point the sleep function of OS X 10.6.8 was hit - now the computer
goes to sleep normally, but when a key is hit to awaken it, it turns the power
off instead. I can't use sleep until I reinstall OS X.
2. As soon as I tried to run wine's Internet Explorer, I got a heap of errors
(reported here). I also got the scroll button on the mouse disabled so I can no
longer scroll pages except with arrows and keyboard arrows. (Yes, I've reset
everything mouse in System Preferences - no change.)
Both of these impact use so severely I'm going to have to reinstall OS X, and
stop using wine if they reoccur.

Bug #: 31071
Summary: DotA 2: overbright/broken lighting effects
Product: Wine
Version: 1.5.7
Platform: x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: cephryx(a)gmx.net
Classification: Unclassified
(This is a lengthy one because there are already lots of observations and
attempt-fixes to describe.)
DotA 2 is suffering from weird overbright lighting effects issues, best seen on
these screenshots:
appdb.winehq.org/appimage.php?iId=39263appdb.winehq.org/appimage.php?iId=39265
All heroes, items and buildings having some lighting effects are affected.
Static map decoration (flares, ...) is not (or at least to a very minor
extent).
Steps to reproduce:
- start the game client and create a lobby in all-pick mode
- start the match and pick Lina
- have a look at what's supposed to be the hero's flaming hands, or at the
visuals of her second spell
See the attachend image for a direct comparison (what it SHOULD vs. what it
DOES look like).
My personal observations regarding the problem:
- does not seem to occur with other source engine games (HL2, Portal2, L4D2)
- persists throughout:
-- ubuntu 11.04, 11.10, 12.04
-- the propriatary nvidia graphics driver series 295.xx to 302.17 (and most
likely also before)
-- wine 1.3.x, 1.4.x and 1.5.x up to 1.5.7
-- 32bit and 64bit systems
-- kernel versions 2.6.x to 3.2.0-26-generic
-- various window managers (2D as well as 3D-enabled ones)
- the only wine registry setting having an effect on the problem seems to be
"OffscreenRenderingMode = backbuffer"
-- setting it, the overbright effect is gone, but pretty much anything else
gets messed up (ambient lighting is too low and somewhat greenish; continuity
of visual effects is broken, etc)
- no imgame setting / console variable seems to have an effect
- none of the options in the 'nvidia-settings' tool has an effect
- creating a fresh 32bit wine prefix with 'WINEARCH=32bit' (instead of
defaulting to 64bit) has no effect
- confirmed to happen on Geforce GTX 8800, GTX 260, GT 330M
Note:
Unlike other source games, DotA 2 must be run with the '-nod3d9ex' parameter.
Otherwise it won't render at all. However, doing so does not cause the
described visual issues on Windows.
I am currently using:
- wine-1.5.7, GeForce GTX 260, nvidia driver 302.17, Xubuntu 12.04 x64
(xfwm4.10.0), kernel 3.2.0-26-generic
I am suffering from this bug
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=30270
which MIGHT be related to the problem (though I have no evidence to prove this
assumption right or wrong).
The three provided logs were created with
WINEPREFIX=~/.wine/dota2 wine Steam.exe &> dota2.txt
and split around:
- steam being fully loaded
- dota 2 being fully loaded
- creating a lobby, starting the match, picking a hero and entering the game
map
(gonna add the logs to messages below this one because I cannot create several
attachments...)
Though it only seems like a cosmetic problem, this bug results in a SEVERE
impact on gameplay, since the player loses track of what's happening when only
seeing huge overbright explosions.
Also note the discussion taking place on the game's AppDB site
(http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=24458), under the
message "Weird lighting effects bugs/issues", for some more details.

I stumbled across this bug myself, though the solution turned out to be pretty
simple for me:
ln -s /dev/ttyUSB0 ~/.wine/dosdevices/com1
sudo adduser {username} dialout
logout, login and now I can talk to my 2-way radio USB serial port.
Hope this helps someone.

It loads up fine, and thinks it is attached. However the scripts that need MWSE
behave very erroneously, and invariably crash/hang/don't work.
The keyring mod duplicates the inventory keyring whenever you reload a
savegame.
The fleeing fletchers mod hangs the game when you cast a spell
The alchemy storage helper mod places duplicate bags whenever you are looking
at.
etc, basically no mod using MWSE works.
Seems to be related to the Oblivion Script Extender attach bug.
There is no significant output on the console, or on the MWSE log file (from
the app).
Only one error in console, seems unrelated since it is sound:
err:quartz:ACMWrapper_ProcessSampleData Error sending sample (80040227)

wine ssmsee.exe >& ssmsee_out.log
In Microsoft SQL Server Management Express, right-clicking on many of the icons
in the "Object Explorer" pane produces a menu. This works correctly. However,
right-clicking again (or releasing the right-click) to select an entry in the
pop-up menu causes another menu to open based on the mouse location of the
selection coordinates.
The input passed to the original pop-up menu does not correlate to anything I
see. It is definitely not what I selected.
Workaround: I can select the correct entry by using the arrow keys and Alt-Key
combinations instead of the mouse, once the menu has been opened.
Incidentally, when almost any WINE app is launched I see an "Exception raised"
error dialog box, which reads:
Unhandled page fault on write access to 0x00000016 at address 0x7ef93536. Do
you wish to debug it? Yes|No
Choosing "No" dismisses the dialog, and no adverse results seem to occur.
Hopefully, it is unrelated...

Regression SHA1: a488e574497d674631b4036d4b179ce349ddb764
The following commit causes various graphical glitches in several games. One of
them, Beyond Divinity shows a black screen during gameplay, only the command
icons and character portrait are visible in the upper right corner.
Plain terminal output doesn't reveal anything.
The result of the regression test:

Reverting the commit fixes the problem in the affected games (e.g. Blood 2,
Commandos 3, Age of Wonders 2, Freespace)
Steps to reproduce the problem with the demo:
1. install then start the demo with div.exe
2. in the main menu start a new game and get past the character generation
screens.
3. during the initial conversation the screen is displayed correctly. When the
conversation ends you're left with a black screen, only the icons are shown in
the upper right corner of the screen.

Date: Mon Jun 18 17:19:39 2012 +0200
wined3d: Reset render target bindings in wined3d_device_reset().
to be the first bad commit according to git. The crash occurs in
wined3d_device_set_render_target, which is called by wined3d_device_reset, when
attempting to access device->fb.render_targets, which is a nil value at that
time.
My hotfix is to check for device->fb.render_targets be-ing non-NULL before
calling wined3d_device_set_render_target from wined3d_device_reset. Appearantly
it is perfectly fine to leave these calls out, as they were added by the bad
commit which introduced the regression.
A quick test through my <del>games</del><ins>hardware accellerated graphics
test applications</ins> makes it appear that this patch doesn't break anything.
The patch is made against the current master.

"Rayman 2 - The Great Escape" seems promising so far (installation and

won't react to any user input (keyboard, mouse or joypad).
Switching to a native dinput.dll hasn't worked out for me (I really tried, many
different versions in different places), but apparently it has for some users
(see gold ratings).
I'd be happy to provide logs if asked. There's nothing unusual in it so far,
even if run with WINEDEBUG=+dinput.

I decided to test and see how far Silverlight support had gotten with a recent
Wine and discovered a significant improvement (but also a regression). With
Wine 1.5.9 Netflix successfully loads up to the point that it shows an error
that there was a problem with the DRM, but with the latest git Netflix hangs at
0%.
Steps to reproduce:
0) Create a new Wine prefix and do not install Mono
1) Download the latest version of winetricks:
wget http://winetricks.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/src/winetricks;
chmod +x winetricks
2) Install .NET 2.0 with winetricks:
./winetricks dotnet20
3) Download and install the latest Windows version of Firefox:
wget -O Firefox-14.0.1.exe
http://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-14.0.1-funnelcake13&os=win&lan…;
wine Firefox-14.0.1.exe
4) Launch Firefox and login to Netflix
5) Attempt to play a movie/show
6) Click the "Install Now" button to download the Firefox Silverlight plugin
7) Click "Save File" to save the Silverlight installer
8) Double click the "Silverlight.exe" file in the download window and click
"Ok"
9) Click "Install now"
10) Uncheck "Enable Microsoft Update" and click "Next>" and then click "Close"
11) Exit and relaunch Firefox and then return to Netflix
12) Attempt to play a movie/show

terminal output
The game crashes when I try to switch to fullscreen mode from windowed mode (or
vice versa).
The crash happens only when performance option set to 'high'. Using 'low' or
'medium' performance setting doesn't trigger the crash when changing modes.
A regression from Wine 1.5.10 (still present in wine-1.5.11-104-gc8055b5):

Steps to reproduce the problem with the demo version:
1. install and start the demo, create a new profile.
2. by default the demo starts in windowed mode, 'low' performance mode
selected. Go to <Options> and change performance mode to 'high'. Click <Ok> to
accept the change.
3. go to <Options> again, and select Fullscreen mode, click <Ok>...a crash
happens here.

After doing 'winetricks wmp9' to work around bug 31511, the next problem
is another crash on startup:
Unhandled exception: page fault on read access to 0xffffffff in 32-bit code
(0x7ea5adff).

Turns out they called RegSetValueExW() with data=1 (i.e. they passed
by value instead of reference), and on Windows, this returns a nice error
code instead of crashing.
I have a test and a patch, will send shortly.

As this is still a source of trouble, I attempted to at least partially fix
this behavior by using clock_gettime() on Linux (should be available on Unixes
too). MacOS X needs a Mach-specific mach_absolute_time() function. The proposed
patch builds and works as expected on post-2.6.28 Linux and MacOS X 10.6.
Please note that this patch affects only GetTickCount(), GetTickCount64() and
timeGetTime(), QueryPerformanceCounter() has not been changed.

Regarding the difference in textures with GLSL enabled and disabled. I tried
again, and I saw no difference in textures; however, on Intel gfx, the gamma is
extremely low in BF2, making it almost unplayable, because everything is so
dark and hard to see.

Intel HD4000 Gfx (Core i7-3770)
Linux Kernel: 3.4.9
Intel Driver: 2.20.4
GLX version: 1.4
OpenGL version string: 3.0 Mesa 8.0.4
OpenGL shading language version string: 1.30
Wine Version: 1.5.11
In order for BF2 to run on Intel, I had to disable the "Dynamic Lighting"
option in BF2, and set the "Lighting" option to no higher than Medium.
Upon starting a game, the graphics are very very dark, as if the gamma were
really low, almost unplayable because its too dark.
If I disable GLSL in the winereg, the gamma is still dark, but I can see a few
more textures that were not visible (or too dark to see) previously.

A problem for me that's started since inferno 1.1 was released is that the
client now locks up, turns grey then crashes if I try to access the market or
inventory. It often happens when attempting to warp to gates as well. A
petition has been submitted to CCP and through the dumps produced from the
LogServer they say that they've narrowed it down to being an audio file
crashing the client even though I run with the audio off most of the time. I
was advised to download and reinstall the vorbis codec. The file that the dump
points to is
c:\depot\games\sdk_installs\wwise\v2011.1.1-build3887\source\soundengine\codecs\akvorbisdecoder\tremor\win32\codebook.cpp
I am running eve on a Dell inspiron M5010 with AMD tri core, ATI Mobility
Radeon HD 4650, 4 gig RAM and ubuntu 10.04 lucid.
I can not find this file in wine or anywhere from the root directory.
I've attached what wine spits out

plain terminal output
It should be noted that the game suffers from bug #28869: when videos end, the
screen remains black, only the mouse pointer can be seen. Not sure if the
current problem has anything to do with that problem.
The problem: when starting Neverwinter Nights, several videos (company logos)
are playing. When the last video ends, but before the main menu could appear,
the game crashes.
This didn't happen in Wine 1.5.9 (although there is bug #28869).
The result of the regression test:

The problem can be reproduced with the demo version as well, although it
contains only one video file, which doesn't come into play when starting the
demo. Please follow the steps below to reproduce the problem with the demo.
1. install the demo
2. in the ../movies directory rename the file CDpromoEND.bik to Atarilogo.bik
3. start the game with nwmain.exe
4. the video with the false name begins to play, press <Esc> to skip the
video...a crash happens here.

Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal

Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org

The license key is a sequence of 5 4-letter/digit sequences. As soon as there's
a letter in one of the sequences (which should be true for pretty much all
keys), you can only enter 3 characters in this sequence and therefore can't
install the game. I also tried using an 8-bit locale (en_US.iso88591) rather
than the default UTF-8 one, but that didn't make any difference. If you only
enter digits, you can enter all 4 characters in each sequence. The latest
release in the Wine 1.2-series (1.2.3, IIRC) only had this problem in the
middle sequence.
Since this is an installer problem, it will probably also manifest in other
Sierra titles of that time (2005/2006).

OK, this might be a bit unreasonable, but:
Microsoft has a logging implementation of wininet that they give out
to users to help in troubleshooting; see
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/884931
and
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=57ad7099-de71-4b1c…
It might come in handy to have their version running on
Wine and generating nice log files, so I gave it a shot.
That comes with several versions of wininet.dll. I tried the WinXP SP2
one by doing
cabextract IE-KB884931-v2-x86-enu.exe
cp wininet.x86.6.0.2900.2180.dll ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32/wininet.dll
and then setting native override on wininet in winecfg, then tried
running a wininet test case,
cd dlls/wininet/tests
~/wine-git/wine wininet_test.exe.so ftp.c
This crashed because a crazy length was passed to a string compare function:

Installation & program startup pose no problems.
When I try to connect to the sunny beam data logger, the connection menu only
shows com ports. In windows, I can also select the usb port.
With my newly delivered Photovoltaic solar panels comes a little device
called sunny beam to track the power production of the panels, and load the
data to a PC.
I setup the SW with wine with no problems.
When I want to access the device via USB, the application only shows com
ports, and not the USB port.
When I do the same in Xp, It shows the com ports and a menu entry for USB
connection.
It looks like the USB interface is not recognised in linux.

This is a very ancient game (1999), that up until now has not worked (bug
#22434). Now that I have gotten it to launch, I've come to notice that the
keyboard is not working. This happens in both the full version and in the demo
which can be downloaded here: http://www.megagames.com/download/hypedemo.exe
(it's a self-extracting zip archive, just extract the files somewhere, then run
setup.exe, ignore the errors, the game executable is MaiD3Dvr_bleu.exe).
Since I /believe/ the game uses dinput, I've attached a WINEDEBUG=+dinput
trace. (and I did press the down button a few times after starting the game,
which did not move the menu selection down (that's the problem)). To my
untrained eye it looks like the keyboard events are received, but are somehow
not being fed to the application?
Installing MS DirectX (yes, full DirectX) via winetricks does not help.

bug #26643, wine on Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger still fails to build, now with:

Indeed that header doesn't exist on Tiger and from what I can tell, Audio

Could there be two builds so that --enable-wine64-wow && --enable-wine64 could
make --enable-wine64 equivalent to a normal build and make --enable-wine64-wow
build with the names changes to comply with both binary compatibilities?
I did this to try to test http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26271 for
x86_64 Fedora 15.

Blackened character with normal selection around him
This affects only "playable" mode, in-game cinematics are not affected, even if
they are in indoor area. This seems to be some kind of shadowing bug, maybe
related to or the same as bug #24602: most of area is overblackened in some
random pattern, which changes from frame to frame, without any activity from
player or on scene. In some positions scene completely black, on others - only
partially, but never it's clear from this bug. mini-map and "M" map are also
affected. I'm attaching screenshot describing this issue.
Log is the same as for bug #24602 - dozens of "software blit" messages.
Configuration and settings are the same as for #24602.
This bug is very-very bad, as game has much of indoor action-packed areas and
they are mostly unplayable, so game itself is mostly unplayable. Tweaking
in-game options, including debug ones, doesn't help. Tweaking orm setting
doesn't help. Disabling GLSL doesn't help.
This probably somehow related to fglrx driver, as opensource driver doesn't
have this issue, but it could be because game running on opensource driver
misses some geometry and effects and lags so heavily, that it could be indirect
rendering in action.
Selections, magic effects, interfaces and soon are unaffected.

Summary: Memory leak in VB6 based program
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.41
Platform: x86

Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: panton41(a)gmail.com
GURPS Character Assistant (see AppDB) shows a memory leak which causes it to
use increasingly more memory until the program slows until it's unusable. The
program start at using 32MB and adds around 1MB for every time an item is
edited (which is the entire point of the application and can happen hundreds of
times). Around 150MBs the program becomes too slow to be usable and begins to
display non-fatal error messages.
Windows 7 64-bit shows a fairly consistent memory use of around 28MB.
I'm too infrequent of a user to tell if its a regression or an entirely new
bug. I switch between Linux and Windows often and there's sometimes months in
between using the app on Wine. I have a feeling it's a regression, however,
since I don't recall an increasing slow-down during my previous use.
It uses riched20, riched32 and oleaut32 as native, builtin with font smoothing
set to RGB if that helps connect it to other bugs at all.

Summary: Can't build/install DPK files in Delphi 7.
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.16
Platform: Other
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2

AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: jeff(a)storago.com
When I am running Delphi 7 Professional under Wine 1.1.16, and I try to compile
and install a .dpk (Package) file, Compile says "[Fatal Error] Could not create
output file '(path_name_here)\Whatever.bpl'" although upon inspection a .bpl
file has been created.
If I try to go to "Component -> Install Packages" and check the box next to the
package, Delphi says "Can't load package (path_name_here)\Whatever.bpl. Module
not found." and won't actually let me activate it.
If I delete out the files that have been compiled and try, it seemed possible
at first to get a single package to install, but once I saved my project and
re-open it later, it says it can't find it. Any project that requires more
than one dpk file to be installed is therefore completely unable to be compiled
because of this.
It feels to me as though Delphi is failing on some sort of file_exists() check
which aught to be very simple. I've checked all file permissions and even
tried reconfiguring the BPL library paths to use folders without spaces i.e.
"C:\Bpl" instead of "C:\Program Files\Borland\Delphi 7\Projects\Bpl" I'm
quite familiar with Delphi's package system and can install packages without a
problem on a similar Windows machine or virtual machine, this problem seems
exclusive to wine.

Summary: Fallout 3: childbirth scene halts after every (second)
line of dialogue, preventing new game
Product: Wine
Version: 1.2-rc6
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: aka.motub(a)gmail.com
Created an attachment (id=29538)
--> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=29538)
terminal output during childbirth scene
I have been experiencing this since 1.1.44 all the way through to 1.2-rc7, but
my investigation revolves around rc6, so that's the version I'm reporting.
My specs:
Linux Mint 9 Isadora 32-bit
wine 1.2-rc6
nvidia 7900GS (AGP) 512MB driver 195.36.24
new wine prefix
only vcrun2005 installed via winetricks (only because the Launcher won't run
without it)
new install of Fallout 3, patched to 1.7
The issue presents itself immediately upon entering the childbirth scene. With
some versions of Wine, my father would not even "say" his initial line (I don't
have sound in the childbirth scene, like everyone else, but I do turn general
subtitles on before running the game for the first time). In this case, the
baby-cam continues to move, and the visible characters continue to animate, but
there is no further progress (or so I thought), forcing me to ESC and quit.
With RC6, Dad does say "Let's see... are you a boy or a girl?" as expected, but
this does not trigger the expected gender choice dialog. Again, the visible
characters continue to move (the game is not crashed or hung), but the dialog
doesn't appear so one can't progress through character creation.
This time, instead of quitting, I ESCaped to bring up the main menu, then chose
'Continue' rather than Exit to re-enter the running game, and hit 'E'. Lo and
behold, the gender choice appeared. I chose my sex, and Dad said his next line
("It's a girl? A girl!... etc"), and then the game "halted" before Catherine
(Mom) could say her line. ESC=>ESC=>E got her to say her bit.
In this way (ESCaping out to the menu, choosing Continue, and hitting E when
back in the Play screen-- sometimes twice, as the scene is running a bit slow,
but that's just me, I think) I was able to get to the penultimate moment of the
scene, where the baby (me) is moved out of the room, which should trigger a
whiteout to the next stage, before you even reach the door. In this case, I was
pushed all the way through the door and into the hall-- which I had never seen
(thank heavens they made a hall on the other side of the door), and this time
it required 3 ESC==>ESC combos to trigger the whiteout (because Dad has like
two separate speech sets and maybe the whiteout is also similar in terms of how
it's triggered).
At no time did the game crash, hang or stop; at times Dad would look right and
then seem to stop, but the blinking lights on the monitors in the back of the
scene always continued, even if the actors seemed to be frozen. The system
seems to be that if there's a player dialog triggered (gender choice, name
choice, appearance), then getting that dialog to appear and making your
choice(s) will cause the following response line from whatever actor (Dad,
usually) to be said automatically, but any further speech (response from
another actor, triggering of another dialog) has to be done manually.
There's nothing much significant-seeming in the terminal log, but it's attached
anyway.
In any case, if this can be confirmed, the only reason it avoids being a
blocker (to people starting a new game) is that there appears to be a
workaround, slow and tedious though it is. But I certainly for several versions
didn't even play FO3 because this appeared as a blocker to me before I happened
upon the workaround.
Please confirm or advise as to possible other causes native to my system or
Wine installation.

Output console for black texture
Hi,
I'm happy because the game runs finally (in a illegal way regrettably)
But, now there is a problem with the texture.
The textures are black and it's impossible to play correctly. I tried different
option in Regedit. With "FBO", there is this problem. If i use "BACKBUFFER",
the game is playable but there are graphical glitches.
I take screenshot with the two mode but sorry if it's in windowed mode (the
crack put it automatically), impossible to disable it else the game crash.
Game with ORM=fbo mode :

Game with ORM=backbuffer

For the output console, it's the same for the 2 modes.
