install log
This bug is for the full version, not the trial.
The installer gets a little more than halfway through, then "encounters an
error" and rolls back the install. Winetricks dotnet20 works around it and
enables the install to complete. That leads to bug 25476.

Bug #: 30729
Summary: EVE Online crashes on attempt to move window
Product: Wine
Version: 1.5.4
Platform: x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: phoenix(a)mail.ru
Classification: Unclassified
Created attachment 40234
--> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=40234
Crash log
1. Log into eve
2. Try to move (drag) or resize any in-game window (for example, chat)
Result:
Game freezes, glibc error is printed to stdout (see glibc_err.txt). Both
current Tranquility (main live server, version 369870 atm) and Singularity
(test server, 375815) clients are affected.
Today my machine (Debian Testing aka Squeeze, x86_64, running on ASUS G72GX
laptop) received handful of updates, after which this bug appeared:
1) Wine from the pre-1.5.4 release to current git (post-1.5.4,
6c51c1ba1310707a6380cac66aeb06b3f2f3994a), both versions compiled myself
2) NVIDIA binary blob from 302.07 to 302.11
3) Regular daily debian updates (apt.txt)
Then i went through all of these:
1) Tried with Wine 1.5.4 from git
2) Reinstalled video driver of version 302.07
3) Tried with Wine 1.5.3 from git
3) Tried with Wine 1.5.2 from git
Neither of points helped, thus it seems problem is in system update, which
besides other things included X update:
[UPGRADE] xserver-common:amd64 2:1.11.4-1 -> 2:1.12.1-2
[UPGRADE] xserver-xephyr:amd64 2:1.11.4-1 -> 2:1.12.1-2
[UPGRADE] xserver-xorg-core:amd64 2:1.11.4-1 -> 2:1.12.1-2
I'm not 100% sure this is Wine bug (could be Debian / NVIDIA driver /
X.org-specific issue), but feel like Wine bugtracker is a good starting place.

log of ssmsee hang (killed with wineserver -k)
A recent regression in Wine causes MS SQL management studio to either hang with
log similar to the attached or segfault after at most a few clicks in object
explorer treeview.
Reverting commit 979099a441682c99ee0c1ee1fab5e1de635a579c on top of wine-1.5.5
brings back stability to the application.
To reproduce this bug:
You need a running SQL Server. MSDE 2000 will do (installation instructions
posted in appDB)
Then you need winetricks dotnet20.
Rrun the application
Connect to a database server
On the left-hand treeview click and expand Databases, then click over database
names. After a few clicks the application hangs or crashes, depending on luck.

2. Move mouse to bottom-right corner

Expected:
Message tray doesn't appear
I tested it with Starcraft 2, which was running w/o Wine virtual desktop.
Initially i filled it as gnome-shell bug:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=677061
Shortly after that i had convo with Gnome devs, during which they pointed out
that if mouse is grabbed, tray bar shouldn't be shown (e.g. like in Heroes of
Newerth native client):

bebot: Bug 672192: normal, Normal, ---, website-extensions-maint, UNCONFIRMED,
Support the Opera Web Browser
magcius: DarkPhoenix, hm, I'm not sure how unredirection works with picking.
drago01 might know more.
magcius: DarkPhoenix, there's an ongoing redesign for 3.6 to remove the corner
behavior
DarkPhoenix: will it be hotkey-based or nothing in stone yet?
DarkPhoenix: sounds like a solution, for now i can live w/o alt-tab i guess
drago01: magcius, DarkPhoenix : this has nothing to do with unredirection
drago01: you can't pick at all while being unredirected (no events get to the
cow)
drago01: the point here is that the game does not grab the mouse
drago01: which means the shell gets the event
drago01: and shows the tray
drago01: (you can do the same with lets say totem or any other non unredirected
fs window that does not hold a grab)
DarkPhoenix: there's option in wine, 'automatically grab mouse in full-screen
windoows'
DarkPhoenix: turning it on doesn't help
DarkPhoenix: tho, looks like it's new option which still may be buggy
DarkPhoenix: so you say if mouse is grabbed, tray should be hidden in any case?
drago01: yeah
drago01: you could try to uncheck "allow the window manager to control windows"
DarkPhoenix: i did
DarkPhoenix: it helps ofc
DarkPhoenix: and it's my temporary solution
drago01: this causes the window to get unredirected
drago01: which should result into higher framerates as well

Hi, all.
Serial Port related problem is hard to debug since it requires extra hardware
that wine developers may not have.
I just find a much simpler way of testing Serial Port stuff; connecting the RXD
and TXD pins together to build a loopback Serial Port.
Check the following document for details:
http://www.quatech.com/pdf/hyperterminal.pdf
For the software part, I'd recommend open source Tera Term instead of
proprietary Hyper Terminal.
http://ttssh2.sourceforge.jp/
I've successfully seen character echoing back on Tera Term, Windows 7 with
loopback USB Serial Port.

4. If you wait, the installer will eventually crash.
If Outlook is not installed, this does not happen.

Should've probably tried a more minimal test case.
It's really just more missing DLLs (wxWidgets related, in this case). Upon
copying them to the right place, I was able to produce a working NSIS
installer, install and run this piece of software. (But I guess retrieving
those DLLs is what BindImageEx's job would be.)
(If anyone cares, the software I'm trying this out with is Trelby, found at
www.trelby.org and on github -- local branch, though.)

FWIW, I just installed the Wine 1.5.5 .deb under Ubuntu 11.10 (amd64) and tried
py2exe; unfortunately, it still complains about imagehlp:BindImageEx being a
stub. The resulting .exe is missing Python27.dll, which can be fixed by copying
it to the same directory, but even then, it won't run. The log then gives a
ImportError: DLL load failed: Modul not found.
It'd be really great to be able to build Windows .exe-cutables for Python code
with Wine. Is there any way a Wine noob can help with this?

Bug:
The SDP Downloader (2.3.0) doesn't restore from tray after minimizing. After
minimizing it also often appears a small stripe of a program window in the
center of the screen (see attached screenshot).
As workaround I use to click right on the SDP entry in tray menu, choose
"minimize" and the mysterious stripe of a program window disappears. Then I'll
click right again on the SDP entry, choose "Restore" and the program window
gets restored/maximized.

Bug #: 30763
Summary: Please turn autoclose on in bugzilla
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: butraxz(a)gmail.com
Classification: Unclassified
I propose turning autoclose on in bugzilla.
The reason is, that I have now gone experimentally thru about 300 old bugs, not
touched for 600-900 days. I have got around 15 saying yes, the bug is still
relevant to them, around 15 saying theirs can be abandoned, a few that have
been reported as fixed but not closed in time and the rest, around 260 bugs got
no answer. Which means propably that those are abandoned too.
Wine Bugzilla now has over 7000 open bugs from which over 4000 of which have
not been touched for a year and about 700 for two or more years. Based on the
findings above, I believe there would only be 10-15% bugs relevant today and
all others are abandoned. The work of manually closing bugs imho no longer
works in practice and I will stop it now as I believe I am able to draw the
conclusions.
Every day 2-5 new bugs are logged, 0-4 closed and about 10 new gets more than
600 days old. This means that in practice Bugzilla grows larger and larger and
searching what is relevant becomes harder and harder. I believe that the
current manual bugzilla closing practice can no longer bring relevant state of
wine to contributors.
In 2-3 years technology advances with great pace and interest in what wine can
do changes too. Programs get born and die. Programs famous six months ago may
no longer be famous today, for example most games are short to play and
short-lived in these days. HW is updated and interests change. In 6 months wine
gets 12 new releases and if I log a bug and no-one wants to touch it for six
months, it is most likely a zombie.
I have found in practice, that when I ask whether a person could update the
status of a zombie bug that they have created, some people just neglet it and
some get hostile of it being touched without me first testing whether it is
still relevant, althought I they themselves have not bothered to update their
own bugs for 2-3 years.
I feel that the open bug situation in bugzilla has got out of hands.
Therefore I propose turning autoclose on in bugzilla for bugs with no activity
for 6 monts. There are multiple of implementations of autoclose in
bugzilla.org, so this is not a technical issue.
The text could be on the lines :
'This bug has been automatically closed by bugzilla as abandoned because it has
had no activity for 6 months. OP or Administrator can reopen this bug after
retesting with latest version of wine and supplying up to date information
about the status of this bug'.
Nothing would be lost, bugs would only get closed and could be manually
reopened as often as OP or admin feels like it. Wine project itself says that
it provides only the APIs that are relevant to running the currently popular
set of programs.
It does not support old programs forever, dos is being phased out, windows 9x
is given minimal effort, win8 with winRT is coming etc. If all zombies would be
closed, could the relevant ones be immediately seen. Autoclose is also neutral
job unlike a person closing it. I feel that up to date bugs are much more
relevant to wine than faster and faster cumulating number of thousands upon
thousands bugs in unknown state.
Sorry that I am not able to do more, just giving this as my five cents worth…

When I change the videosettings in game, black screen appears. With the mouse I
leave the game basing on the sound and position of the options(click on Quit

Summary: Counter-Strike Source Video Stress Test Camera Aim
Broken
Product: Wine

Component: directx-d3d
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org

This is an odd one, but there appears to be a new bug that's affecting a couple
of things in Counter-Strike Source (and potentially other Valve games using the
same engine). It's been a while since I tested with this game, so I don't know
when the actual regression started (and if it was triggered by a Wine update,
or a CSS update, or a driver update). Anyway, here are the symptoms:
When running the Video Stress Test, the camera always remains in it's original
orientation - which is pointing at the ground. Not only is it boring, but it
makes the results of the stress test inaccurate as a comparative reference.
I'm uploading a video demonstrating the bug to: http://youtu.be/A5hZ_E4zMoE
In my brief testing I only noticed one other new issue that might be related to
the same bug: On the character selection screen, the animated models that you
select are looking and pointing their weapons straight up.
My system:
Ubuntu 12.04 Alpha
i980x
12GB RAM
PNY GTX 560 Ti
nVidia binary drivers (nvidia-current-updates: 290.10-0ubuntu1)
Wine 1.3.36 (latest package available - can't currently get .configure to
succeed in Precise due to multiarch integration, so I can't compile 1.3.37)

WINE will not work with any program I have which uses the soundcard. The
problem appears to be linked to the alsaequal plugin.
The error I am getting is:

If I delete .asoundrc wine functions just fine, so my first impression is that
there is some sort of incompatibility with alsaequal. I am however not a linux
dev and the exact error I get seems to be more related to LADSPA which makes no
sense to me.

It is a problem for me because Game Maker 7, by YoYoGames, uses a web page to
facilitate registration. I think I know why it doesn't load. It uses internet
explorer as a back-end to load it and wine's internet explorer doesn't work for
it. And the actual Internet Explorer won't install because DriectX can't
install.
P.S. Don't ask me for the name of the game, the name of the game really is

Did a fresh install of Fedora 16. Since then, I've been unable to load World of
Warcraft in wine. It always crashes with the same error:
Unhandled exception: page fault on read access to 0x00000000 in 32-bit code
(0x00000000).
I've loaded the testing RPMs for fedora, per some documentation I saw on the
site:
[darke@pabu ~]$ wine --version
wine-1.5.3
[darke@pabu ~]$
Per the "how to submit a bug", the command I use to launch wow WAS
/usr/bin/padsp wine64 .wine/drive_c/Program\ Files\ \(x86\)/World\ of\
Warcraft/Wow.exe -opengl
but I've tried
wine64 .wine/drive_c/Program\ Files\ \(x86\)/World\ of\ Warcraft/Wow.exe
-opengl
and
wine .wine/drive_c/Program\ Files\ \(x86\)/World\ of\ Warcraft/Wow.exe -opengl
as well as:
wine64 .wine/drive_c/Program\ Files\ \(x86\)/World\ of\ Warcraft/Wow.exe
wine .wine/drive_c/Program\ Files\ \(x86\)/World\ of\ Warcraft/Wow.exe
But the crashes continue, unabated. I log in and immediately crash. backtrace
is included.
This all worked pretty flawlessly on a fedora 15 install I had previously, but
it may be worth mentioning that I also in this upgrade went from an nvidia card
to an intel HD card. Made sure peer to peer/background downloading is off and
lowered all graphics to lowest setting.
Help?

Game crashes soon after loading a level. Crash occurs almost immediately after
loading the first episode, but takes longer to occur in episode 2 (the camera
pans back over the destroyed bridge, crash occurs when characters start

characters, as they are immediately visible in episode 1 (seen footage of
this), and there's a reference to shaderapidx9 in the debug output.

- Not able to see the source of an email (to check special characters, URLs
etc): selecting this option (right-click in an email message, select option
'check source') has no result; same with 'send to browser'. Since clicking a
link does not open a web browser, being able to copy and paste the URL is
important, but not everybody (especially mailing lists) show the URL behind the
link, often just a keyword is shown.
In Eudora under Windows XP, it was always possible to check the source of an
email message. In the source, all information and all headers and all full
URLs could be inspected. Very handy to be able to distinguish between spam and
regular mail, or when the composer of the email made a small error in including
a link to a web page.
Using the option "check source" in Eudora 7.1.0.9 under Wine (0.8x, 0.9x, 1.0
RC1&2) results in no activity, no error report, just nothing happens, like it
is a dead menu option.

I have programmed an application using VisualBasic 2005 for Windows XP. When I
install the application, I install it along with the libraries needed to run
everything, that's fine. But problems come when using the application: whenever
I try to open the serial port, and then hang it and reopen again to send more
data, it freezes. I have tried to use it through /dev/ttyS0.
Please, test it with an application which opens + closes the port several
times, see if it hangs for about 10 seconds, or more, trying to open the port.
I can send you more data if needed, maybe an application to try, because
debugging information is not very useful (it just tells everything goes Ok, in
spite that it takes too much time to go through).
Serial port is configured at 9600 baud, no parity, 1 stop bit. Normal things,
indeed.
Thanks!!

Backtraces for FoxPro errors
In FoxPro whether running an application or using the "command" level, sending
a print command to a default network laser printer results in no print and a
shutdown of FoxPro and its application (if used). If CUPS-PDF is used as the
default printer, a pdf file is generated and the FoxPro application remains
active (does not shutdown).
The backtrace report includes comment lines in brackets for the two scenarios.
I have also observed that while in the "command" level of FoxPro, merely the
selection of the laser printer in Print Setup or having the laser printer as
default and entering Print Setup will shutdown the application.

In http://forum.brillkids.com/little-reader/little-reader-in-linux/
a user said she was unable to use Wine to run Little Reader.
So I gave it a shot.
To install, you have to first do
sh winetricks dotnet20
to work around the fact that .net doesn't quite install yet.
The app starts, but hangs at the splash screen. You can see why
by reading ~/"BrillKids/Little Reader/Data/error.log"
Please install Microsoft Data Access Components(MDAC) version 2.6 or later.
and
The 'Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0' provider is not registered on the local machine.
Doing
sh winetricks mdac27 jet40
gets past those. Then you run into:
No error message available, result code: E_FAIL(0x80004005).
at System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnectionInternal..ctor(OleDbConnectionString
constr, OleDbConnection connection)
...
at System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection.Open()

in error.log, and
err:ole:CoGetClassObject class {ecabb0c0-7f19-11d2-978e-0000f8757e2a} not

on the console. That UUID seems to be associated with COM+, and
is provided by comsvcs.dll, which Wine doesn't have.
Why a baby reading program needs COM+ is anyone's guess. Presumably
just accidental lockin as a byproduct of using OleDb (and maybe .net).

console output with amstream channel enabled.
There are several bugs in this report.
As first, this one
> cd/dvd check -> solved at least from Wine 1.5.x so no more no-cd patch is
needed;
is not relevant to this bug, since this bug report is about the demo.
First bug. The demo does not install when XP is used in Winecfg. ->workaround
is to use Windows 2000 in winecfg
More important.
The first crash is in amstream. Using a native amstream dll fixes the first
crash.
So, to ease the resolution of this bug, I suggest that the bug report is only
for this bug.
So I suggest to change the title
" Medieval total war demo crashes because of amstream"
I will open others bug reports for the remaining problems.

Hack for keeping things from crashing
Context_QueryInterface fails on the UUID
{000001da-0000-0000-c000-000000000046}, resulting in .NET immediately crashing
even though nothing is seriously wrong. This UUID appears to be related to the
error handling in .NET, with the attached hack the application spawns an error
dialog that can be dismissed. How I <believe> this is supposed to work is that
Context_QueryInterface should work for any IUnknown compatible interface
(anything defined with DEFINE_OLEGUID). In order to do this I think the
function should test that the UUID fits the mask
{XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-c000-000000000046} instead of testing for specific IDs.
Steps to Reproduce:
1) Start with a fresh "~/.wine" if you want to be "safe", I've found that .NET
can have issues with an old install
2) Install vcrun2005 using winetricks
3) Install .NET 2.0 (dotnet20) using winetricks (and 'corefonts' if you don't
have them from your distro)
4) Install Launchpad Enhanced
5) Install or copy StarWars Galaxies into the Program Files folder
5) Run Launchpad Enhanced

Summary: Allocation of PEB and TEB can overlap dll mappings
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.60
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Solaris
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: critical
Priority: P2
Component: ntdll
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: trisk+winehq(a)acm.jhu.edu
thread_init in ntdll/thread.c is responsible for setting up the control
structures for a new thread. It allocates memory for a user data region, a PEB
(Process Environment Block), and a TEB (Thread Environment Block).
On Windows NT, the PEB and the first TEB are fixed at 0x7ffdf000 and
0x7ffde000, respectively, unless the kernel is patched for address
randomisation. The TEB is one page (see wine's definition of TEB) and adjacent
to the PEB.
thread_init uses NtAllocateVirtualMemory backed by anonymous mmaps. It
allocates a 64k region for user data at a fixed address of 0x7ffe0000. For the
PEB and TEB allocations, the system is free to choose the address. The TEB in
Wine is actually allocated as part of larger region also storing pthreads data,
so it doesn't fit in the address that Windows uses for it without overlapping
the traditional PEB region.
Later on, __wine_process_init in dlls/ntdll/loader.c loads builtin dlls to
their respective addresses. This calls NtAllocateVirtualMemory and there is
code in
create_view to deal with overlapping segments. It is asserted that no
allocation should overlap with a segment that doesn't have the
VFLAG_SYSTEM flag set.
In Wine 0.9.60 on Solaris, one of the dll allocations (ntdll at
7ff90000-7ffdb000
) would overlap with the PEB at 7ffb0000-7ffb1000, which triggers the assert.
Regression testing shows that this commit caused the regression, possibly
because of size changes for ntdll:
[4c6d2b01cc842ac13af6257a0c41f67ae49c992a] ntdll: Don't create a temporary dir,
run wineprefixcreate directly in the final dir.
Possible solutions:
Mapping the TEB and PEB at fixed addresses
Ensuring NtAllocateVirtualMemory mmaps do not overlap with the dll address
space accidentally.

Hi Henry,
as far as I could suppose we've got three problems with this game:
1. installer fails -> solved I do not know from when;
2. cd/dvd check -> solved at least from Wine 1.5.x so no more no-cd patch is
needed;
3. main menu crash. From the comment number 13 someone is speaking about it ->
not solved.
The only comment which speaks about a possible solution is instead about
Medieval 2.
So, I think only the last issue persists, my list number 3.
In the comment 22 there is a possible tech explanation but I do not know if it
could be valid as of now.
Maybe it's a good idea to close this issue and open a new one only with the
last problem.
Regards.

neither crash dialog, nor backtrace is generated...the game suddenly exits.
Sometimes it occurs right after spawning, other times it lets me play the game
for about 10-20 seconds.
I have the Steam version of SW:Bf 2, the title screen says it's the 1.1
version.
The problem appeared in 1.5.4 and is still present in 1.5.5.

It isn't very clear what this bug report is about. Is the original bug still
present? It also seems this application is affected by a couple of regressions,
those should have their own bug reports if they still apply.

Hi,
the game, Gold DVD italian version (maybe European version including italian
language) installs, then when executed it shows the logo, it goes into black
screen by changing also the resolution into 640x400, it shows main menu badly
corrupted and then Wine crash.
I've attached the console log; no winetricks were applied.
This game is really nasty isn't it? :(

Summary: ACDSee trouble with "duplicate" filenames (eg. "jd",

I admit, that the circumstances for triggering this bug may seem a little bit
artificial, but it happened to me. You may consider this a minor bug.
I'm using quite old versions of ACDSee, 2.45 and 3.1, German version. Wine
version is 1.1.33, mode is win98.
Steps to reproduce:
Create a directory with whatever name you want, e.g. "test", inside that
directory create two subdirectories, e.g. "jd" and "JD".
Start ACDSee, you will see a treeview control listing directories and a
listview control listing files.
Click on the "test" folder in the treeview. You will see the subdirectories
"jd" and "JD" in the listview.
In the treeview control click one or more times on the "+" before the folder
"test", to show or hide its subdirectories. You will see duplicates of the "JD"
folder in the listview.
If I then exit ACDSee 3.1, it is crashing, 2.45 will exit without crash.
Physically no new files are created, it's just happening in the listview, so I
assume, that somehow wine becomes disturbed by the directories' names, which
are equal apart from capitalization.

I can confirm that this is still happening in wine 1.5.5, both x86 and amd64
builds.
Diablo 1.09b full install and Hellfire 1.01 exhibit the same behaviour: game
starts up fine, intro movies play, and then black screen. The game is still
running and the menus can be navigated blind with the keyboard. If you manage
to actually load/start a game without being able to see the menus, it starts
rendering just fine and the game is totally playable.

The only thing in the current free version of 3dmark06 that appears to
be enabled is the 'demo' button, and to get that to work, I have to
do 'winetricks d3dx9' to avoid the error dialog
"D3DXGetImageInfoFromFileInMemory failed: Invalid data (D3DXERR_INVALIDDATA)".
(winetricks d3dx9_36 isn't quite sufficient, it gets past that
dialog, but crashes shortly thereafter).

Running real Java apps under the latest Sun win32 JRE on Wine
seems like a fine stress test, even though in many
cases users should run with the Linux JRE instead.
The Sun JRE and jEdit install ok, but jedit has many startup problems.
The first one was bug 10913, and the second was bug 10914.
Here's the third one. Start it up like jedit.bat would have,
but without using start or ddraw:
$ wine 'c:\windows\system32\javaw.exe' -Dsun.java2d.noddraw=true -Xms64M
-Xmx192M -jar 'C:\Program Files\jEdit\jedit.jar' -reuseview
This hangs.
For completeness, the version of jedit used is the latest,
jedit4.3pre12install.exe
the version of the jre used is the latest,
jre-6u3-windows-i586-p-s.exe
and the problems seem the same both with yesterday's git and today's.

This is the next problem after the now-solved bug 8920.
Basic help now works. The "Previous" and "Next" links on many

(And if you play around with it long enough, it tends
to lose its marbles and say "HTML rendering
currently disabled" in the content pane.
This persists until you restart Dreamweaver;
closing and reopening the Help window doesn't, um, help.
Also, the Search tab is blank, doesn't work at all.
But maybe those deserve their own bug reports.)
See http://wiki.winehq.org/AdobeDreamweaver for filename, sha1 sum etc.

After downloading IPS (Internet Print Service, a software for ordering foto
prints from Foto-Quelle) software the installation works fine.
When starting IPS it checks for software updates and updates for the price
list. This doesn't work. After a while it aborts with a timeout error message:
there is no network-connection.
I have already tried to set my hostname to the local ip in etc/host as
described in the wiki, but it doesn't work.

Now that bug #22451 has been fixed, the game can be started using the built-in

There is a crash when you exit the game though.
To reproduce the problem press the <Esc> key while the game is booting (or wait
until the flashing POLYBIUS logo appears and press <Esc> there).
I set component to d3d because the backtrace suggests that.
Native d3drm.dll doesn't help.

No$gba running under Wine does not render some 3D models at all, where it does

I have tested with 3 different drivers, (Both proprietary and un-proprietary
nVidia drivers, and an intel driver) so I don't believe my drivers are at
fault.
To reproduce, run these freeware tech demos:

(Use the nds.gba binary for the second tech demo link)
In both instances the 3D fails to render completely. No error messages are
given at the console relating to this bug.

I have seen this error in the console log a few times, but it has never caused

However, when running "Diner Dash 2" the console fills with the same three

These three lines are repeated continuously.
Tried "winetricks directx9" but this does not replace ddraw.dll (which I am
assuming is the problem).
Replaced ddraw.dll with a native Windows XP version (which wine itself does not
recommend), and had to copy dciman32.dll too, but this causes a page fault.

You need to do 'winetricks mono20' or 'winetricks dotnet20' before installing.
The sound distortion is the same in either case.
For comparison, running Dyson on mono natively on Linux sounds much better.
(I had to do 'apt-get install libgdiplus libsdl-net1.2 libsdl-gfx1.2-dev
libsdl-mixer1.2 libsdl-image1.2 libvorbis0a libpng12-0' before
that worked.)

Portal with graphics glitchs (and this is still fairly good, it gets really bad

Applications using DirectX produce more or less heavy graphics glitches on my

http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=4264) runs
mostly fine, but when I am in the same environment as other players, some
vertices start to hop around the screen when viewing at them at certain angles.
When I turn a bit, everything is fine again.
Portal run through Steam shows a similar issue, especially when I am close to
one of the portals it gets really bad and I can hardly recognise anything on
screen. I will try to attach a screenshot.
I don't have the Uru glitches on my main desktop system (NVidia GeForce 8500,
binary drivers), so I assume it is somehow related to my laptop's graphics
card: AMD/ATI Radeon HD 3200, binary drivers, Ubuntu 10.04 64bit. I compiled
wine myself. It does not matter whether desktop effects are enabled or
disabled.

Incomplete in-game map
When TAB is pressed it should show a map and there should be a red circle in
the center of the screen showing your position.
As attachment shows, it is not fully painted and also red circle is missing.
Interesting is, that this is painted on nearby texture and sometime you need to
shot to the wall and when explosion disappear then in the place of explosion
there is part of the map.
And more interesting if you press F2 (special light?) map is fully painted even
in open space.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Set wine to windowed mode 800x600
2. Download and install
3. There is savegame in bug 23274

4. In game don't check 3d acceleration
5. Press TAB key alternatively with F2 key

The Logic Analyzer in MPLAB 8 doesn't work. To reproduce:
1. Open MPLAB IDE.
2. Click Debugger, Select Tool, MPLAB SIM.
3. Click Debugger, Settings, Trace All, OK.
4. Click View, Simulator Logic Analyzer.
5. Click Channels, Add (it doesn't matter which channel you add), OK.
The Logic Analyzer window goes black and displays either "Access violation at
address X. Read of address Y" or "Out of memory".
Installing oleaut32.dll from Windows 98SE fixes the problem.
stderr shows the following:

err:ole:TLB_ReadTypeLib Loading of typelib L"C:\\Program

But I don't think this is the problem because ReadTypeLib is called by
LoadTypeLibEx, which returns TYPE_E_CANTLOADLIBRARY both with and without the
native oleaut32.dll.

terminal output
The game begins with a scene where you're standing in a room with a pistol in
your hand. Two enemy soldiers appear in the doorway and begin shooting at you.
The crash is always reproducible if
- you fire with your pistol
- you turn back and face to the opposite wall (the last thing you see before
the crash happens are the bullet holes in the wall).
If you just stand still (without shooting or turning around) the crash doesn't
occur.
Disabling audio and lowering the gfx details to the minimum don't help.
There is no demo for the game.
The problem exists with Wine-1.2.3, 1.4, 1.5.3 too. In current git
(wine-1.5.3-164-gdec3d50) the game crashes as soon as a new game is loaded,
that could be a different problem.

The game becomes unresponsive if I try to skip the intro videos. If I let the
videos play to the end the problem doesn't occur.
The problem is reproducible fairly often, but not always: there are rare
occasions when skipping the videos doesn't cause the game to freeze.
>err:quartz:DSoundRender_SendSampleData 0
appears several times in the terminal when I skip the videos. Those lines are
not present when the videos are playing from the beginning to the end, without
skipping.
To reproduce the problem with the demo version:
1. Install...start the demo with SWRepublicCommando.exe, located in
../GameData/System directory.
2. There are 2 short videos in the demo (Lucasarts and Nvidia logos), you can
skip them by pressing the left mouse button or the <Esc> key.

Backtrace from winedbg notepad.exe
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Client release 5.8 (Tikanga)
With this patch applied, applications freeze if I type to input controls.
* wine notepad.exe : Writing into the big text field freezes notepad (pasting
text with mouse works tho)
* winecfg : Writing text in Libraries pane for example, also freezes wine.
It works with
* wine-1.4
* wine-1.5.0
* wine-1.5.2
* wine-1.5.3
I did git bisect as told on IRC (http://wiki.winehq.org/RegressionTesting):

Well, that's an old bug, valid even for portal 1: when both portals are placed
and you are looking at one of them - game crashes. That's only about GLSL
enabled. With GLSL disabled, but with high shader settings portal 2 crashes
after few seconds of looking at portal. With lower (medium or low) settings it
works well.
No backtrace was ever produced by this bug - it just closes silently.

Hi,
im new to the Bugzilla, read the instruction and want to help. But im not 100%
sure if this is totally new. If i did something wrong please tell me :-)
I try to install my Music Production Studio called "Nuendo" these days as i
recognized that it should run from the AppDB. My Version is a bit older and i
got some patch files to bring it up to the latest version.
Generally the normal setup.exe dont work for me as it forwarded to the win cmd.
That crashes for me. So i decided to install the needed packages and patches
step by step by hand and not with the setup.exe installer.
The base program is a msi file which i installed without problems with:
env WINEPREFIX=~/.wine-TESTDRIVE/ wine msiexec /i /path/to/program/program.msi
After that i have to patch the installation with:
env WINEPREFIX=~/.wine-TESTDRIVE/ wine msiexec /p /path/to/program/patch.msp
That fails with an error message:
err:msi:patchfiles_cb Failed patch L"C:\\Program
Files\\myProgram\\MusicProduction\\Fonts\\Classic.ttf": 120.
err:msi:ACTION_PatchFiles Failed to apply patch to file: L"font4"
err:msi:ITERATE_Actions Execution halted, action L"PatchFiles" returned 1603
err:msi:ITERATE_Actions Execution halted, action L"ExecuteAction" returned 1603
I started reading on the net and replaced the mspatcha.dll with an original
copy of a friend and try to patch it again:
err:msi:load_mspatcha Failed to load mspatcha.dll: 193
err:msi:ITERATE_Actions Execution halted, action L"PatchFiles" returned 1627
err:msi:ITERATE_Actions Execution halted, action L"ExecuteAction" returned 1627
To be sure the patch files are not corrupt/broken i installed it on a
windowsmachine with success. I tried other apps and got the same error
messages.
Is there anything further information needed from my side?

Summary: Crimzon Clover 1.01 shows only black screen

WINE messages shown
When you start Crimzon Clover you are presented with an options dialog to
select screen resolution, etc. No matter which options are selected you get a
black screen (or a black window if you selected a windowed display mode).
This issue affects only the retail version of Crimzon Clover (the free version
0.20 works great in WINE).
The messages that WINE displays (see attachment) are very similar to the ones
in bug 26917. As both "Endless Alice Crysis" and Crimzon Clover are doujin
games, I wonder if this issue is related to programming methods or libraries
unique to Japan.

In CHM files, if you perform the same search within hh.exe, Wine crashes. So
open a chm that has the search tab enabled. Perform a search and then perform
the same search, Wine crashes.

testcase (source + binary - w32)
Creating windows in threads may deadlock at gdi_section and X11DRV_CritSection.
This doesn't seem to happen on win xp. Though I'd expect that it should be
possible to create windows from a thread. Attached is a small test case.
Howto:
- run graphics.exe
- hit the button "start" a couple of times and the deadlock may appear
(sometimes it takes ages to trigger it, sometimes the first hit will make it
happen)

Settings window in Windows XP
This issue shows up when using Wine with native comctl32.
WinUAE uses a treeview in its settings window. Each entry in the treeview has
an icon/image to the left of the text.
With native comctl32, those images are displayed with black backgrounds.
With builtin comctl32 and in Windows, the images have white (or transparent?)
backgrounds.

Console output
When starting Civilization III, I'm getting an error about the inability to
load the fonts.
Lookng on the reports at the AppDB looks like there's a workaround for the
issue:
"For the game to run, the following must be done:
copy the file:
.wine/dosdevices/c:/Program Files/Steam/steamapps/common/sid meier's
civilization iii complete/Conquests/LSANS.TTF
to:
.wine/dosdevices/c:/Program Files/Steam/steamapps/common/sid meier's
civilization iii complete/Conquests/LSANS.fot
then open a console and browse to:
.wine/dosdevices/c:/Program Files/Steam/steamapps/common/sid meier's
civilization iii complete/Conquests/
and type the following command:
sudo chown root LSANS.*
This prevents the following two errors:
Error loading font (Error code 13)
Error loading font (Error code 28)"
