Make sure you set the winversion to XP, otherwise, the game will not install.

The program works perfectly except that it crashes when a new file is opened. I
have loaded documents through copy/paste and "insert" file and manipulated them
extensively without any problems. The documents saves properly and can be
retrieved by other word processors.
The same happens in Quattro Pro 11. Everything works except for selecting
"file" "open" or the "open file" icon, when that also crashes.

I am using wine 0.9.40 downloaded from budgetdedicated and Ubuntu 7.04.
I succesfully installed an app that teaches english to children. It works
flawlessly if I run it just after the installation process. However, the next

The program installs fine under wine 0.9.40. Once installed, the program will
crash upon running. To repeat the crash:
Install the program (using clean .wine).
After installation, run the program $ cd ~/.wine/drive_c/Program\
Files/SPCS/SPCS\ Administration\ Demo/
Click on OK to accept SPCS Administration 500.
Click on OK on the next prompt.
-Program crashes-
If native DCOM98 is installed, the program will not crash like above. It will
instead prompt to install Wine Gecko, then allow use of the program. But since I
don't speak swedish, I can't say for sure how well it works beyond launching.
Interesting side note: The install won't work if native DCOM98 is used. To repeat:
$ rm -rf ~/.wine
$ wineprefixcreate
$ wget http://kegel.com/wine/winetricks
$ sh winetricks dcom98
$ wine SPCSAdministration_4_31_Demo.exe
--Installer crashes--
I'm not sure what bug this is tracking, considering the original report was for
the installer crashing, which now works. So I'm not sure if the native DCOM
problem for the installer should be reported as a separate bug.

I'm guessing this is shader related (not the same as bug 5729 because the game
looks perfect and doesn't crash) as the terminal spits out a lot of fixmes about
it and basically it runs very, very slow. About 2fps on my GeForce 7900GTO with
100.14.11 drivers.

Yes, thanks. I have downloaded it and it shows the same bug as the full

Also, I have updated my git tree recently and even after this patch:
"dsound: Fix calcplayposition to handle mixed amount > buffer length better",
nothing has changed - sound is still broken. Maybe the demo of Heroes 3 will
help to find out what the problem is...

This bug can also be confirmed right in the steam windows. Hold the right mouse
button and click a few times with the left mouse button, and its closes.
Probably related to how the steam windows, and fullscreen game 'windows' are
"input translucent". For instance, with a fullscreen game of day of defeat
source, if I were to open a fullsize webbrowser, and move my mouse over where
the games escape menu is, I can here the rollover sound.

I found a pattern with the Mouse Box Restrcition.
I set the games resolution mode to 2 (resolution of 512x384 - or something close
to that)
Upon doing so, my mouse was restricted within the game to an area that would be
equivalent to a box of 512x384 of my current resolution of 1280x1024.
I tried to set my computer resolution to 1024x768 and the game resolution to the
same or lower, but it switched my computers resolution back to 1280x1024 and
because of that it made the box that I could move my mouse in equivalent to a
section of my desktops resolution. I do not know if these all could be related,
but could it be a problem of the game not properly going into the correct video
modes - or when doing so, something is not making the right connection?

I tried this under wine 0.9.39, kubuntu feisty. It seemed to install fine, but
like Tom said, never presented a dialog box to put my username/password. I found
that if I logged into gmail in firefox (linux, not windows...this .wine was
clean with only Gmail Notifier installed), that the tray icon then realized it
was logged in. I haven't received any e-mail though :-(, so I can't tell for
sure if it works.
In short: If Gmail notifier prompts for username/password under windows, then I
can confirm this bug. To work around it, see above.

When I toss the dinput.dll files my game lags a bit less, but I get the problem
where my mouse is confined to a box. The box seems to change around, havnt
seemed to find a pattern with it either.
Ive got a AMD 2100 running at about 2.0Ghz so I really notice the lag. Takes my
frames from 30 to a range of 3-10 when I move my mouse around a lot.
This is pretty much the only problem that is keeping me from playing the game.
(Except for my game crashing when I am joining a server - but that will be
easier to figure out if we can get this problem fixed)

I patched SWB to 1.2 succesfully and then applied the no-cd crack. After
executing Battlefront.exe, the loading screen took longer than expected (about
45 seconds) and resulted in a generic windows layout error message saying that a
buffer overrun was detected (and subsequently forcing me to quit). I am posting
the console messages next. I specified d3d as the component as it is mentioned
in the console errors in the last 2 lines.

In the game, ongoing fire and smoke effects are usually not visible, only when
you switch to external camera and zoom far out. I'll attach two screenshots to
illustrate.
There's a fixme triggered in d3d:IWineD3DSwapChainImpl_Present that looks
suspicious, but might be a red herring. Will attach a plain log as well.
Visible engine smoke is rather important in order to spot ships.

I can confirm this is still unfixed in 0.9.39. Change the version to .39, change
target milestone to 0.9.0, and rewrite description to be more generic.

The same keyboard bug happens with "Star Wars Jedi Knight - Jedi Academy" when
it is in fullscreen mode. I am using Ubuntu Feisty and wine 0.9.39. No matter we
allow directx grab mouse or not, it always happens.
One workaround to have the keyboard focus again is to change the video
resolution with the game options. When it restarts with the new resolution, the
keyboard is ok.
While I was describing this comment, I tested again with "Allow the window
manager to control the windows" checked. It worked perfectly this time. I
remember this had the problem of gnome panels to be over the game window, even
in fullscreen, but now it's ok.

Sorry I put Windows XP in summary wrongly, because it was the OS that I were
using while filling the fields hehehe...
Ok, I have Wine set to Win2k, by curiosity I did try every OS conf in Wine with
the program, and results that _every_ OS from NT 4.0 to Windows Vista works the
same -- the program crashes at the same point.
I was doing some trace on the program, now I think it's related to KillTimer
rather than SetTimer API.
I'm tired of swithching Windows/Linux just to re-compile the program in Visual
Basic 6.0 for the moment, but I will try to locate the exact line that produces
the error, as it seems that Wine's logs does not help in this case :(

Vitaliy just pointed out something I should have noticed before. It's DNS
resolution that doesn't work. Connecting by IP works, using an URL/DNS name
doesn't. That also explains why some apps work (as they use IP) and others don't
(as they use the DNS name).

If you don't have the game installed the patch shows an error message that the
game is missing and seems to copy the changed files (the patch window has a
progress bar and seem to work correctly).
If the game is installed the installer shows the splash screen and just quit...
I installed the game on wine 0.9.34 (CrossOver Linux 6.1) and on a real windows.
I patched the game on windows and copied the files into my CX bottle. This works.
You can't install the patch on wine, you need windows.

Summary: Most applications in Wine unable to access the network
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.39.
Platform: PC-x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: test
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: ben(a)atomnet.co.uk
I'm opening this bug just to make sure people are aware. At the moment it may be
an issue with Debian packages (as it only seems to happen in Debian Sid at the
moment) but on the other hand (and more worryingly) it could be an
incompatibility with a newer library that Sid uses that Wine doesn't work
correctly with.
Basically most applications in Wine (STEAM, Firefox, game auto-updates, etc) are
unable to access the network claiming the address(s) cannot be found. Using an
earlier version of Wine doesn't have any effect, still the same issues.
Setting the component to "test" until we figure out what is actually broken.
Link to the bug in the Debian system is :
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=430845
Hopefully this is just a bug in one of the Debian packages and not an issue with
Wine and a newer version of a specific library (or libraries).

Adding author of the patch to CC. Still a problem with 0.9.39 and current git.
Feel free to ask any logs or debug output. But to me it seems that problem
should be simple (that's just my guess) because patch that broke the game is
very small but unfortunatelly I have too little experience in D3D programming
to fix this myself in a proper way, not by just blindly reverting the patch.

Well, I unplugged my gamepad and it works! And yes, the menus were moving by
themselves. I did not mouse the mouse at all. And unfortunately, after closing
the game, I could only see this error in the terminal because of all the
outputs: fixme:d3d_draw:primitiveDeclarationConvertToStridedData Missing fixed
and unfixed vertices, expect graphics glitches
Apparently, WINE's DirectInput implementation is handling my gamepad incorrectly
and sending the down signal continously to the game while in the menus. The
gamepad game me no trouble while actually playing the game. And I also have
another problem. My keyboard refuses to control the menus or the game at all.
Hope we can fix this.

Summary: Recent dsound related commit broke sound in Heroes 3

Platform: PC-x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED

Component: wine-directx-dsound

In Heroes 3, sound in-game is completely broken (I hear a lot of noise even on main menu). Multiple games are affected. For example, in GTA 2 sound in intro is broken in the same way (but works perfectly in-game). Below you can find my result of the regression testing (I have added author of this patch to CC field); without this patch everything works.

It's also in Bug #8533.
I was suggested by you Vitaliy Margolen to use DCOM98, if I run the program
without DCOM98 installed it just does not start.
With DCOM98 installed, the program finish it load, I think I need to trace in
the where is the exact problem (the settimer, or the code it execute on callback).
But before that, I wonder if there's not a "magical" WINEDEBUG switch that could
help to debug in this case. :)

That happen with a VB6.0 program, I did *report* this issue before, but later it
turns to a Winsock problem, etc.
Now I would like to report another bug/problem. I think the cause must be either
"SetTimer" api or something with Icon drawing...
I'll attach Wine's log about the problem, and I will try to help as much as
possible to find the cause of this issue.
My last bug report about this program was bug #8533 =>

Thomas, it seems you need to either use current GIT version of Wine (current
development source), or wait for wine-0.9.40. Then try and reinstall your
application. That might resolve your problem completely, or help with finding
the cause of it.

For screenshots please see phase6 page on appdb (link above)
The program phase6 (appdb link see above) starts without problems but as soon as
I want to create a new user to log in it says "ActiveX can't create object".
When I try to click on other buttons it says "Object variable or With object
variable not set". I tried to install Mozilla with ActiveX plugin but the
problem did not change. The wine window that should pop up with the request to
download Mozilla ActiveX does not even occur. Is there probably a missing link
between the prog phase6 and iexplore.exe? I also copied all needed dll and ocx
to system32 to get the program run. I found no similar bug on bugzilla or google
but I spent hours on this...
Would be nice if I could get the program running somehow.
