So I'm stuck lowering my res or using <=0.9.27 for now. Seems the kind of

that doesn't appear over kicker in fullscreen.

Quite the same behaviour in current git (and yesterday's).
I'm using the openGL engine for deusex and not the directx. You? Also, are
you quite sure you are trying this at a resolution of 1280x1024 (set withing
deusex) or greater? The problem does not show up for me at lower resolutions.
I also have things set to "allow window manager to control the windows" instead
of using a virtual desktop, which may make a difference. I would hope the
answer isn't to run in a virtual desktop as that was unnecessary before the
patch mentioned in my original report.
will attach my deusex.ini and OpenGLDrv.dll.

Using the language learing software The Rosetta Stone
(http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?iVersionId=2497). When trying to use a
data cd for a language with non-ASCII characters, they are not displayed
correctly. This is also documented in a post over on the CodeWeavers forum
(http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/browse/name/?app_id=645;forum=1). Here
is a copy of the relevant post:
With languages using non-ASCII characters the fonts do not show up properly.
(Only tested with Russian and Chinese.)
The problem seems to be linked to a strange way in which TRS handles the fonts.
For example, what should be (in Russian) an 'a' shows up as an 'f', and what
should be a 'y' shows up as an 'e'. Looking at the standard Russian keyboard,
the 'a' and the 'y' show up in the same places as the 'f' and the 'e' in the US
keyboard, respectively. As far as I can tell, this holds true for all of the
letters.
So, it looks like TRS has a special font for Russian, in which the letters are
switched to Russian, with respect to the keyboards. However, Crossover is not
using this font.
Is there any easy way to get Crossover to use the correct fonts? Or is this
something that would have to be changed internally?
BTW, this problem does not affect the menu; it looks perfect. It is only the
fonts displayed in the drills that are incorrect.
During program startup while using wine, there are several instances of
fixme:font:CreateScalableFontResourceA. It seems that TRS stores non-ASCII
fonts internally, and generates them on the fly using
CreateScalableFontResourceA, and that is the cause of the display problem.

I'm using eMule 0.47c with Wine 0.9.29 on my Gentoo box with kernel
2.6.19-gentoo-r2 and firefox 2.0.0.1. It works except for the webinterface.
Webinterface works fine when I launch it from the pc where eMule is running
(localhost). On the contrary when I try to reach the Webinterface from other pcs
in the LAN it loads login page, but image is not loaded completely and when I
try to login it will just keep on waiting on response from eMule.
I don't know if this a different bug from the one of this thread and I do
apologize for my bad english.

Summary: menus disappear from menubar in MDI app
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.29.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-binary
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: dougm(a)bravoecho.net
When I upgraded from 0.9.22 to 0.9.29, I noticed that entire menus disappeared,
starting at the left, from the menu bar.
I am using a home-grown MDI app. The only related event that I can think of is
MoveWindow(), which is use to resize a new MDI child, depending on which window
I open.
In some cases, the app starts up and the File menu is missing from the get-go,
without opening any MDI child windows.
In the Wine debug mode, I can see "RemoveMenu" when a menu is eliminated. My
program does not call RemoveMenu at any time, although it does switch back and
forth between two menus -- one menu is for when there are no MDI child windows
open, the other is displayed with children open.
When I re-installed 0.9.22, the problem went away.

Yeah, it was my first roguelike as well, and I didn't know that term at the
tender age of 13 ;) I'll try to be more specific:
1) Start a new character
2) Click and drag the character into one of the shops (can't use keypad because
of focus problems, I guess, but I used to be able to w/older versions of Wine)
3) Drag a few pieces of armor on to your paperdoll - guantlets, bracers, cloak,
helmet, whatever
4) Exit the shop, and go north to exit town
5) As soon as you leave the gate it crashes

Seems the native msi one can handle this type of stream error and yet deliver

I have an AMD Athlon XP 3100+, 1GB ram etc. . . so I find #35 unlikely.
Also, it has been quite a while since I tried Moo2 the last time, and can't
remember exactly how long it has been, so I might misremember (in comment #27)
that moo2 used to work past version 0.9.8.
If someone who is experiencing this bug can compile an older wine than 0.9.8,
then _please_do_some_regression_testing_; try something like wine20041201, and
try to find the last working version. I'd do it myself if I could compile
anything older than 0.9.8. 0.9.8 was released in february 2006 (if I'm reading
the changlog correctly).
I'd also like to know the gcc and libc versions of others, especially those NOT
experiencing this bug. Then again, I'm not a programmer and I might be barking
at the wrong tree here (and in comment #27 and comment #30).

Any GTK+ application running in wine, where gtk >= 2.8, has wrong fonts -
sometimes they are too big, sometimes there are wrong symbols all over.
Just install mono-win32 and have a look at the gtk#-examples.
GTK >= 2.8 uses cairo for font rendering and cairo in turn uses the native win32
font api (not pango!). Therefore I looked for some sample code using __only__
cairo on win32 to see if it works -- it doesn't. The sample code is attached,
here are two screenshots:

ACLMulti implementation
After implementing ACLMulti the import dialog seems to work. PITy wants also
IACListISF but doesn't fail because of it's lack.
However the patch is incorrect in one aspect - the ACLMulti is implemented in
browseui.dll, not shell32.dll (at least on my WinXP). Maybe when I'll have some
more time I'll try to learn how to add a new dll, write the regsvr
infrastructure and I'll implement it properly. BTW it seems the IAutoComplete
should also go to browseui.dll.

(cross-compiling R under linux with various version of mingw - also discussed in
R-devel mailing list)
Both 2.4.0/2.4.1 Rgui binaries from this mingw set works OK-ish with wine
(by that I mean I can so Sys.info() and sessionInfo() - obviously somebody
requires 3.11 for 2.4.1 for a reason):
gcc-core-3.4.5-20060117-1-src.tar.gz
gcc-ada-3.4.5-20060117-1-src.tar.gz

mingw-runtime-3.10-20060909-1-src.tar.gz

This set produces 2.4.0/2.4.1 Rgui binaries which crash wine:

gcc-ada-3.4.5-20060117-1-src.tar.gz
gcc-g++-3.4.5-20060117-1-src.tar.gz

gcc-objc-3.4.5-20060117-1-src.tar.gz

mingw-runtime-3.11-20061202-1-src.tar.gz

As can be seen, the difference is only mingw-runtime-3.10-20060909-1-src.tar.gz

Thanks, "xrandr -s 0" does the trick.
After this, I'm also able to see that the game did _not_ crash - it's happily
playing the intro movie and I can start playing.
But it seems the problem is that the left upper corner of the game is not in the
left upper corner of the 1280x1024 screen, but the left upper corner of the game
is approx. at the position 460x460 of the screen.
This displacement means that game was not accessible after Wine resized the screen.

you must enter shops and buy some equipment first to trigger the crash. My

can provide any more information, and thank you ^^

on 2nd tought that return value in the patch could better be 'return 0' instead
of 'return -1' ad msdn states that 0 is returned when the funtion failed.
However, question remains if it's still a hack, or really correct. Maybe one of
the "font"-guys good have a look at it.

I recently installed on a up-to-date cvs version of Wine IgorPro 5.04
The installation is correct, but when I start IgorPro, it firstly print all the
menu bar ("File", "Edit", ...) and removes it one after the other printing
"fixme:font:GetCharacterPlacementW classes not implemented"
I've already tested different locale and charset (utf-8, iso-8859) as I thought
it was linked to wrong charset transcription.
Reproducibility :
Always, at least for the profiles Win98, 2000 and XP.
A solution that makes Igor usable has already been issued :

I have an urgent need to run acrobat reader v3 on wine/linux. I linked wine with
ICU, together with this patch
http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-patches/2006-December/034248.html
to get proper arabic shaping.
The final issue faced now, is that arabic letters are not displayed in their
correct location. i.e. a character is either overwriting the next character, or
it is too far away with a white space between them! This does make the text
difficult to read.
This issue is rather urgent to me, so please do contact me if you know a way
around this. Thanks.

Summary: long pause when Warcraft 3 is returning from LAN screen
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.27.
Platform: All
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-net
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: damjan.jov(a)gmail.com
When returning from the LAN game page to the main menu, Warcraft 3 hangs for
about 5 seconds (the sound stutters and the graphics freeze).
Bug occurs from 0.9.27 up to and including 0.9.29 (so far), regression testing
revealed this patch as the cause:
http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-cvs/2006-December/028326.html
(Ironically, this patch fixes another timeout bug in Warcraft 3)
A +tid,+winsock trace reveals that:
- There is 2 (relevant) threads
- One thread keeps polling the socket with select().
- The other thread calls closesocket() upon exit from the LAN menu.
- Without the patch causing the regression, the polling thread polls once more,
select returns 0, and then it stops polling.
- With the patch that causes the regression, the polling thread polls, select
returns 1, and then it calls select and WSARecvFrom again and again for about 5
seconds.
- Patching WS_select to return 0 does not fix the problem.

If utorrent is minimized from inside application and then maximized from taskbar

shown.
This is huge problem because utorrent is the best torrent client atm in the
market :|
At least Minimize & Naximize by clicking utorrent systray icon works :)

This looks like a virtual screen problem: once I move mouse in down/right
direction the image starts to move to up/left. My normal screen is 1280x1024
and the games switches to 640x480, and it appears that though the resolution
has changed, virtual screen size remains an old one.
I compared xrandr and xvidmode logs and see nothing drastically different -
the same sequence of calls. Perhaps my patch provoked a bug in xvidmode
somehow - now there may be more than 1 fullscreen size request to a WM
due to a different logic.

With wine-0.9.27 or today's git, two old problems are gone:
"Key is not unique in collection" dialog box described in bug 4448
"err:ole:typedescvt_to_variantvt cannot convert type 26 into variant VT"
but now the New Project dialog background isn't drawn for some reason.
Steps to repeat are now:
1. install and run visual basic 6 IDE
2. "New Project" dialog pops up. Pick "VB Application Wizard".
Ignore fact that background of dialog is drawn transparantly (new problem?).
3. click "next" eight times to accept default app settings
4. click "finish" to generate app. You'll see the console messages
fixme:font:WineEngCreateFontInstance Untranslated charset 255
fixme:ole:DllDebugObjectRPCHook stub
and a dialog saying "Object required".
I tried catching more info by doing a +ole,+text,+dialog,+relay log,
but the app crashed when I clicked "finish". (The stack dump didn't
look too interesting.)

I bite the bullet and confirm this. I had this problem a dozen times - wine
should really refuse to run or install (you know, with a error message telling
the user what to do) if it can't properly render text.

I have come to the conclusion that the textures are indeed doubled, not just

Test case, dumps the result of GetSystemInfo()
This is the code for the test case. It calls GetSystemInfo() and reports the
values it returns. The same values should be returned after this patch,
implying no regression (assuming the original implementation was correct -- it
may not be). Check these values with the OS specific functions to determine
this information (e.g. /proc/cpuinfo on Linux) to make sure all values reported
are correct.

1) I only run 64-bit Gentoo now. What is the status of Wine on 64-bit versions

2) Specifically, what revision of Wine must I use to get the new updates?
Thanks!

Summary: Wine crashes X11 resolution
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.29.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-x11driver
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: bunk(a)stusta.de
All described below is after an
rm -rf ~/.wine
I'm normally using an 1280x1024 resolution, FVWM 2.4.19, X.org 7.1.0 .
When starting some applications (e.g. the game Master Of Orion 2), Wine sets the
resolution to something smaller (640x480?).
In a way, that CtrlAlt+/CtrlAlt- do no longer work for correcting the resolution.
And not in a way that it was possible to play the game.
The only way I know to fix it is to restart X11.
Workaround:
winecfg
Graphics
[X] Emulate a virtual desktop
After this, the problem is no longer present.
But the most interesting observation (both with [X] Emulate a virtual desktop):
Works fine:
WINEDEBUG=+all wine orion95.exe >/tmp/log-orion2 2>&1
Problem present despite "[X] Emulate a virtual desktop":
WINEDEBUG=+all wine orion95.exe
IOW, the fact that making everything _extremely_ slow and keeping X11 busy with
outputting millions of lines in an xterm somehow influences this issue.

This bug is only about "hangs as soon as mouse is moved" - let's try to only
discuss this here.
The interesting thing is that I have never been able to reproduce this - hangs
for 1-3 seconds perhaps, but never complete hangs of the game (except _after_
quit'ing the game).
And that's my experience with many versions including 0.9.29.
I'm using a Debian unstable/testing, and I've used both distribution packages
and self-compiled Wine.

ii wine-utils 0.9.28-1
ii winesetuptk 0.7-1.1
ii xwine 1.0.1-1
ii fontforge 0.0.20061019-1
So you mean this fontforge support isn't compiled in (or whatever) by default in
the binaries? Do I need to compile this beast myself just to get any text to
work at all?
Thanks for your patience,

Using wine-git, I did the following:
1) create a clean .wine directory
2) copy the flash player .msi file to the c: drive
3) run the msi installer.
The initial dialog box always pop up, but when I hit next, sometimes it succeeds
and sometimes it immediately crashes. FWIW, it feels as though earlier versions
like 0.9.24 succeeds more than later versions.

Summary: Wine crashes computer when Shared video changes
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.29.
Platform: Other
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: critical
Priority: P3
Component: wine-binary
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: morgan_jay(a)bellsouth.net
Affects all versions I tested from 9.27 to 9.29.
Shared video was recently changed from 32 to 64 MB. Everything worked ok, but
more RAM was needed for main system memory, rather than graphics, so the Shared
memory was reduced back to 32MB. However, as soon as computer was rebooted with
new Shared memory settings, wine will not run. When wine runs, it (on this
system anyway) gives the error "libGL warning: 3D driver claims to not support
visual 0x46" 2x before the app launches, but when it launches it works fine.
After reducing the shared RAM, it gave the error 1x, and then the system froze -
no keybd, no mouse, can't use ctrl+alt+F2 to get to console - only recourse is a
hard reset. Took me hours (reinstalling versions of wine mostly) to figure out
the problem. After changing BIOS settings back to 64MB shared, wine runs fine.
I would like to be able to change the BIOS settings without Wine causing my
entire system to bomb.

Online. Keyboard focus stayed in the terminal. If I changed destops keyboard
focus was on the desktop. I didn't have this problem when trying to sign into
Dark Age of Camelot (Catacombs).

Summary: All full-screen windows are displaced when using
XVidMode
Product: Wine
Version: CVS
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Keywords: regression, download
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-x11driver
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: vitaliy(a)kievinfo.com
When using XVidMode instead of XRandr, full-screen games are placed at the
bottom left corner, sometimes badly distorted. Tested with several games.
To reproduce set [HKCU\Software\Wine\X11 Driver] UseXRandr="N" and start any
game in full-screen. It should be placed at the top-left corner of the screen.
It seems initially it's being set there, but then window is moved to the bottom
left corner and the whole screen starts to flicker.
Games tested:
HL2: http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?iVersionId=2890
Moto Racer 2: http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?iAppId=3680
Max Payne 2: http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?iAppId=2166
and few others.
Regression testing pointed to this patch:

Could you made new attachment with bit better debug... like tracking the point
of crash to Wine source.
