I have this same problem, I have narrowed it down to how I can reproduce it. If
I have ALSA on with any settings in winecfg "Your connection has been

using OSS and turning on Emulation in Hardware Acceleration in winecfg. Then I
get sound but I can't play music from eg amarok while Diablo II is running.

Just to be sure :
1)When you are launching UBSPay from Windows you are using a shortcut ?
2) And if you look at this shortcut's properties the "Working directory" is not
set to c:\program files\UBS e-banking\UBSPay" ?
Because if it is set to this location, the behaviour is just the same as Windows
will CD to the directory just like your batch file

Please check first which issues are already listed at the AppBD, e.g. the

I verified, that the regression happened with the update to wine 0.9.28. I also
tested the demo version - which is available for free at
http://www.gamershell.com/download_1456.shtml - and it shows the same symptom
(unusable menu with 0.9.28, usable menu with 0.9.27).
When using the demo you have to delete the videos when using version 0.9.27 or
else the game will crash.
If someone tells me, how to get the patches applied between 0.9.27 and 0.9.28 I
can try to single out the patch, that caused the regression.

I think this may be down to the fact that they don't install properly. After I

21205___.TTF 89198___.TTF

the setup based names (the installer "installs" them when it runs, the progress

I don't think so, the problem is still there in version 0.9.27 and 0.9.28. But
the problem got worse in the later version. Now the game is totally unplayable.
In version 0.9.27 the mouse wouldn't respond smoothly and it felt like it got
stuck in all the hexes on the movement grid. You could play by compensating with
keyboard scrolling so that you wouldn't go mad. But in in 0.9.28 the mouse stops
responding for 1-2 sec, then it moves to another spot, and then stops for 1-2
sec etc. It's ALOT worse.
But as was it explained in this report, the problem only happens when you move
around in-game. Not when you use your mouse over the interface or navigate in
the menus. When you do that the mouse is 100% smooth.
So please re-open this bug, this really needs to get fixed.

Summary: datas paths are set to "my documents" path
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.22.
Platform: PC
URL: http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?iVersionId=5226
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-misc
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: linux(a)ikiru.ch
Under Windows, path for all datas is "c:/Program Files/UBS e-banking/UBSPay".
But running with wine, it is changed to /home/user (where home/user is the "my
documents" path, I guess), where the software create many files and folders. It
seems like UBSPay interprets path "L:" (which is the "home path" under
"winecfg", equivalent to /home/user) as beeing his "c:/Program Files/UBS
e-banking/UBSPay".
There is no "ini" file or any configuration file neither.
I have identified a mean to bypass the problem : instead running "Program
Files/UBS e-banking/UBSPay/UBSPay.exe", run "Program Files/UBS e-banking/UBS
Shell/Ubsshell.exe" allows to the right folder to be used.

This is an odd one, when using virtual desktop mode you just see the green
background, you never get a picture. You can hear the intro and the menu, but
the virtual desktop just stays the default green, like there just isn't anything
there. Fullscreen mode is the same except it's just black instead of green.

I did further testing, the bug i'm having isn't a regression.
The shadows are inverted only when using GLSL, by setting UseGLSL to enabled in
HKCU>software>wine>Direct3D. Otherwise shadows are perfectly fine, so there
might be an error in the relevant code.
Maybe james carthew could check if he has the same issue.

The stub fixes the first crash but the app has UI bugs (looks like

ok, so copying the files fixes the problem:
linux php # cp Microsoft.VC80.CRT/* . (copies the manifest and the msvcr80.dll)
linux php # wine ./php -v
fixme:actctx:FindActCtxSectionStringW 00000000 (null) 2 L"msvcr80.dll" 0xc17acc
PHP 5.2.1RC2-dev (cli) (built: Dec 18 2006 23:33:28)
Copyright (c) 1997-2006 The PHP Group
Zend Engine v2.2.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2006 Zend Technologies
Anyway wine should behave like windows and read the files from the
Microsoft.VC80.CRT folder. Also that "fixme" message persists.
I now also get a few other "fixme"s in ntdll (FILE_GetNtStatus), but you are
probably already aware of them.

I can confirm that that d3d in a child window also now draws in the correct
position (or almost - see below). I do also get the
"rest-of-window-overdrawn-by-black problem" as described above. I am using the
NVidia drivers.
I'm not altogether sure that the d3d area is in exactly the correct place. When
I use an app that allows you to place a point on the 3D scene the point does
not appear in the place where you click as it does in Windows. In the attached
screenshot when I click a point at the origin of the three axes, it instead
appears to place the point at the location shown. As you can see this is drawn
slightly below and to the left of where it should be. This may be an unrelated
bug with d3d.

Good morning,
I'm not familiar with the winecfg at all. My interest in this is that I
downloaded a trial version of Norton Security and when it tries to execute the
error message say that it couldn't find the entry point "GetModuleHandleExW".
When I would open the Kernel32.dll in notepad I saw "GetModuleHandleA" and
"GetModuleHandleW" but not "GetModuleHandleExW". I started trying to research
how I could add it but was slightly on the fear side because I didn't want to
mess anything up. Can you help?
Regards,
Paula

In (at least) 東方妖々夢 and 東方永夜抄, when starting the games, sprites are
drawn incorrectly. Only about half, or a quarter of the textures are used, and
stretched over the sprites or something. The initial menus are okay, but break
as well when you return from the game. Supposedly this bug is not present in
Cedega [3].
This demo [1] might showcase the same bug, but it feels slightly different to
me. When looking, I found this [2], which is supposed to be the demo of 東方妖
々夢, I will see if the bug is present there as well.
Screenshot of the bug will be attached.

setup.ilg from windows with default install path
Of course. But I just realized there is an additional problem: The install path
seems to be stored somewhere in this file. The file above was created while
installing on windows to "D:\Heroes of Might and Magic V\". Now lets assume you
installed HeroesV with wine to "~./wine/drive_c/something" then copied over my
file and tried to install the patch. The patch will try to store the new files
to "D:\Heroes of Might and Magic V\", but thats not where Heroes was installed
on wine. So depending on whether or not you have configed a valid writable
dosdevice d:, the new files will either end up there, in the wrong place, or
the patch fails.
Thus I have attached a new setup.ilg file, created while installing the normal
european edition to the default path, "C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Heroes of Might
and Magic V\". So if you just accept the default path while installing with
wine and then use this file, it should work.

With current git the interface of Baldur's Gate II behaves quite strange. It
seems lie it doesn't get redrawn after some part of the interface is supposed to
change. I'll attach some screenshots in order to illustrate the problem.
This only happens when 3D Acceleration is enabled in BGConfig. Demo is affected
too. The interface behaved fine with wine-0.9.27, the commit that broke it is:

The startup time is still very very slow but obviously without the "PIDL" errors
being dumped to the shell. It seems to be hanging the longest on the "Loading
Plugins" part of startup.

Tried with latest GIT... the problem is still there. this may be a case of wine
not being bug compatible with DirectX. Problem existed since at least version
0.9.9 and in several later versions including 0.9.27

First I used the distro version - now I have installed
wine-snapshot-0.9.27.20061213-12.1
tried to build from source but the automatic configuration
has some trouble with the 64bit libs and doesn't find the
32bit version - in most cases i could solve that manually
but compilation faild with:

Hi, some of the directX Samples that failed before, now have started to work,
probably due to Markus Amsler's patches. However, they only work with native
usp10. When run with builtin usp10, they crash with a call to Unimplemented
function usp10.dll.ScriptString_pSize.
One example is the OptimizedMesh.exe sample. BTW, these samples need Arial.TTF
tp be present, otherwise you won't see any text...

Summary: Mouse "escapes" game window
Product: Wine
Version: CVS
Platform: PC
URL: http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?iAppId=241
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Keywords: download
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-x11driver
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: vitaliy(a)kievinfo.com
In the menu and game itself Wine allows mouse to "escape" the game window. In
turn Wine looses track of the mouse and character freezes in the game. Forcing
game to reinitialize by changing screen resolution or toggling
windowed/full-screen mode "cures" the problem.
This happens because game attempts to set exclusive coop mode but fails (bug
6960). And instead ending up using background cooperative mode with dinput,
which should not touch position of existing mouse pointer. However Wine has no
means of tracking mouse if it leaves Wine windows.

only stars on black sky). This "background" is static - it never changes after
startup. Child window is correctly placed and have correct size. Problem is
that everything else is always overdrawn by this "background". Most other
programs overdraw rest of window with just solid black color.
Maybe this will be useful clue for someone who knows well OpenGL. Note that
rest of window is overdrawn by texture (which is just solid black in most cases
and googleearth is only exception known to me).

> Works fine with NVIDIA 1.0-9631 on xserver-xorg 7.1.0-7.
If so then what is wrong with my configuration? I have too NVIDIA 1.0-9631 on xserver-xorg 7.1.1 but it isn't work fine for me. But if you havn't rest-of-window-overdrawn-by-black problem then it is essential to understand why.
What modules you have within your xorg.conf enabled (see 'Section "Module"' in /etc/X11/xorg.conf)? I have following modules: "bitmap", "dbe", "dri",
"ddc", "extmod", "freetype", "glx", "int10", "record", "v4l", "vbe". Because changing options in nvidia-settings seems to havn't any effect on this problem I don't ask them. But maybe you have idea what other setting can affect this? If so then please post them as well.

It just occured to me, where it says those files "were not" extracted isn't
where I was installing the games to in the first place. I always tell games to
install to C:\Games\Gamename, where it says about the file not being extracted
in each case is actually the default installation location.

Did this worked before (in say 0.9.27)? And what does 'wine --version' say? Your
patch indicates that you don't have latest GIT. Please upgrade and try again.
This should be fixed (it was a temporary regression).

Same here - works with current GIT and 0.9.27. The crash looks really like
screwed up glibc to me then anything else.

I didn't incorporate any external dll's in the case of nwserver.exe
I do alreay use the latest wine from the git-repository, which is 0.9.27.
But since i'm running on a Debian Stable 3.1...
Is it possible that my version of libc6 (which i suppose the text.c from the
shell-output to be part of) is simply to old (2.3.2)?
Louis, could you provide the your version of libc6 in order to be able to
compare it?
