Can you compile Wine from source? Or install debug package (if available)?
Unfortunately you have stripped binaries that doesn't tell that much.
Also, is there a setting that can select TCP/IP as the only protocol? It looks
like it tries to use "netbios"?
All I can see there is that we have few ole threads waiting, few threads waiting
in "nnetbios", and several more that's hard to tell what they are doing.

Upgrading Wine doesn't meant erasing configuration, nor any of the files in
"fake c:" drive. If you copied msvcrt.dll there it will still be there.
Dalai, please refer to user mailing list, documentation, etc for help with using
Wine. Bugzilla is for reporting bus _only_.
I have checked with wine-0.9.26 and the problem still there. Using native dll is
not a fix, but rather a test to pinpoint the problem to particular Wine component.

The installer requests the UserSID property, which we don't set yet. On top of
that, the request is made during a deferred custom action, meaning all the
properties, except CustomActionData, UserSID, and ProductCode, are not
available. The only one of those we handle is CustomActionData. I've got two
patches ready that I'll send in.

Today, I updated the wine (wine 0.9.26).
When I changed the configurations in winecfg - adding the msvcrt as native
(without changing, or overriding any dll, just changing the configurations !!!)
- this bug apparently is solved.
This is a bug ?????
Now I'm confused, all I need is to say Wine that a dll is native (when is not)???
Please help-me understand :)

Dalai Felinto

Following a suggestion from the newsgroup, I elected the native msvcrt dll as
the default library for wine. This makes wine just use the native dll and not
load the builtin dll. And, this then also lets the app parse the config file
correctly.
Therefore, there is (was) an incompatibility in the builtin msvrct. If there is
interest, I could get the latest wine (0.9.26) and see if I can reproduce.
My own interest is in resolving the crash which now follows just after the app
is done initializing its user interface, according to its start up message, and
just before it would display its main window, qt-based with a opengl 3d viewing
area.
It might be best top open an new bug for that ? Perhaps after I investigated if
additional default native dlls would help ?

Oops. Looks like my original bug-report is not correct. I did some further
testing and got the following results.
1) I wrote above that I used patch 26498 but in fact I used 26499 (I just found
out that the version displayed ingame is always 26498, no matter if 26498 or
26499 is installed. This is why I reported the worng version.).
2) The crash seems to happen only with 26499. Using 26498 creating characters
works fine.
I will use patch 26498 for now since there doesn't seem to be a major difference
between the two patches. I am sorry for any inconvenience this inaccurate bug
report may have caused.

WM_NCCREATE is what instantiates a new richedit control. So, essentially, those
two calls are generating two more richedit controls. In this case,
"editor=0xe331c0" doesn't seem to ever have had EM_EXLIMITTEXT sent to it, so
having the default value would make lots of sense (does native somehow let a
call on one control affect another? that'd be ugly...). Is there more to that
output? Perhaps a full log with those fixme's would be better, so we can see
which messages are sent to which control.

I went to the IE folder under program files to see if it was finished and the
only thing I saw was the install files. No, the .wine folder is local.

Summary: Unable to use GCIN/OXIM to type chinese in wine
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.26.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: critical
Priority: P1
Component: wine-x11driver
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: wsun013(a)gmail.com
CC: wsun013(a)gmail.com
GCIN are OXIM (and some others) are programs allow you to type Chinese (maybe
other languages) by overriding the XIM variable.
When I try to use GCIN to type up Chinese words, say in the notepad shipped with
wine, the input dialog (to input bases/spellings of a word) doesn't show up, and
the notepad hangs (not crashed) right after the XIM is called.
Here are the steps to reproduce the problem.
1. download the gcin source from http://cle.linux.org.tw/gcin/download/http://cle.linux.org.tw/gcin/download/gcin-1.3.0.1.tar.bz2
2. build it, and install it.
3. modified the ~/.xinitrc or ~/.xsession due to either you are using startx or
gdm/kdm to start up your X11 session by adding up:
export XMODIFIERS="@im=gcin"
export GTK_IM_MODULE=gcin
exec gcin &
4. restart the X window.
5. wine notepad.
6. <ctrl>+<space> to activate the GCIN input method.
7. notepad will be hang now.
Solutions (maybe temporary)
1. This bug has been existed since wine 0.9.23
2. I traced up patches within git repository from version 0.9.22 and found that
this commit is the key:
http://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git/?a=blobdiff;f=dlls/winex11.drv/x11drv…
3. Therefore, reverse the patch, or comment out the
if (!XInitThreads()) ERR( "XInitThreads failed, trouble ahead\n" );
in dlls/winex11.drv/x11drv_main.c (or reverse) the patch makes my gcin work again.
4. My wildly guess is that either the ERR blocks the program or XInitThreads is
still buggy. Anyway, hope this works for you guys.
Best Regards,
Wei-Tsun Sun

It seems that some repaint operation changes the editor pointer, so that
ME_InsertTextFromCursor and EM_EXLIMITTEXT go on different editors.
Bug 6148 might have the same cause...

Hi, this bug is present in quite some applications, like also in QuickBooks Pro
installer i'm trying to install, so i decided to file a bug about it. The game
Zuma is a free download where the bug can be seen as well. The applications just
start with a complete white screen, and that's where the fun ends. That's a pity
because most of these games/apps work perfectly well (platinum i'd say). The bug
can be worked around by using native shlwapi and urlmon. Would be nice if this
could be fixed. I'll attach a +shell,+urlmon log

I want to make wine run a qt-based commercial, large windows app. I run
wine 0.9.22 on gentoo amd64. The app in question is gocad
(www.earthdecision.com) and starts up fine, asks for which modules to use and
then proceeds to constructs a temporary config file for itself. However, it
then pops up an error message pronouncing that it encountered a problem
parsing this config file at line 1, and after that there are many more parsing
errors.
I compared such constructed config files under wine and ms windows and they
are identical, including frequent weird end-of-line markers such as \r\r\n.
Under windows this file is processed successfully. Attached below the
beginning of such a config file. I also attach relevent +all,-relay and +relay
debug output.

If you are able to start the game, the registry key SeenIntroVideo gets set and

video. That's how you actually reenable or disable it. Renaming the movies

The installer extracts InstallScript.tmp from the database binary stream table,
and then deletes it. When it runs the custom action
'SetAdditionalVersionProperty', it looks for the aforementioned file but can't
find it so it bails with a RaiseException. The questions are: should it delete
the file in the first place, should this custom action be running, and if it
should, are we running it at the right time?

This is likely because you haven't installed the 32bit glibc on your system.
Check that you have all the (32bit) packages installed that Wine requires.
There's a Wiki page on this (http://wiki.winehq.org/WineOn64bit), but

I tried it with dropping all unnecesary features (Apple Advanced Typography,
codpages, ...) and managed to get it down to 500 KB. Without Code obfuscation or
comment dropping my guessed minimum is around 350 KB of code. The problem is TTF
generation. There's no library and it's not trivial. And we agreed on wine-devel
that's too much.
So sfd2ttf is not feasible with acceptable amount of code. Consider to resolve
this bug as WONTFIX.

There's two issues I can see in the trace. The first is the "Unknown SOL_SOCKET
optname 0xfffffffb", which is caused by winsock2.h contains this:
#define SO_DONTLINGER (int)(~SO_LINGER)
and there's no unix equivalent to SO_DONTLINGER, so it's not converted.
It just seems to unset SO_LINGER, though. unfortunately it's not possible to
handle this in convert_sockopt, at least not the way it's designed right now.
convert_sockopt also can't handle #define SO_MAX_MSG_SIZE 0x2003, which also
has no direct equivalent, but from
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/winsock/wi…
I gather that this is not an actual socket option but a query command.
Another issue looks harmless, but I suspect it's also an error:
warn:winsock:WSAIoctl unsupported WS_IOCTL cmd (48000016)
WSAIoctl doesn't know this command for two reasons. First, 48000016 is
SIO_ADDRESS_LIST_QUERY, which the current wine code does not handle. Second, the
value that is checked for if SIO_ADDRESS_LIST_QUERY is expanded by the
preprocessor is 88000016, because it's constructed from IOC_OUT|IOC_WS2|22, and
IOC_OUT in Linux is 80000000, in windows it's 40000000.
I'm not sure what the correct way to fix this would be.

OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-multimedia
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: mihalw(a)gmail.com
There is a problem with MIDI I/O with the FS1r editor.
The editor doesn't correctly read synth state, due to problems with reading
sysex messages. Wine complains with
fixme:midi:midRecThread Sysex received but no buffer to store it!
Since you need some extra hardware (the FS1r synth) to test it I will try to
explain the error.
When a larger sysex message gets received it is divided into smaller chunks (at
least it seems so in alsa). I think these chunks should be put together in wine
library (before notifying the application). Sysex messages are of the form
F0-several-bytes-F7, and only the last chunk contains F7 byte.
I have attached a sequencer dump illustrating the above (in this particular
situation there where two fixme:midi messages).

The problem is possibly that Chemsketch can now use msxml3 where as last week it
could not. Reverting the commit and preventing a regression in your application
may cause regressions in other applications that depend on the functionality.
If that's the case, we should fix msxml3 to work with Chemsketch, not revert the
patch.

3DMark2001se works for me. What version of drivers and and what videocard you
have? Also errors about drivers appears typicaly if 3DMark2001se wasn't
correctly installed. For example if I try to run it without installing first it
will give me error about lack of drivers. It can give different errors actually
in different environment (for example, different versions of 3DMark, different
Wine versions, different problems with installation, etc. can affect this). But
in all cases word "drivers" is common for all such errors. Of course it doesn't
mean that your installation is incorrect but it is good idea to reinstall to
fresh .wine directory.
Backup and remove your ~/.wine and try reinstalling into fresh .wine directory.
Go to folder with 3DMark2001se executable and try to start it like this:
wine explorer /desktop=3DMark2001SE,1280x1024 3DMark2001SE.exe
It should work. At least for me it works. Only thing that doesn't work is its
Demo.

I've checked for the ntoskrnl.exe ins ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32 and there
is none there. I do have the file as part of captive driver (which I doubt it's
a problem)
$ locate ntoskrnl.exe
/var/lib/captive/ntoskrnl.exe
I also started from a fresh new wine install and removed ~/.wine, re-installed
3DMark2001se, but same problem
from your commends I assume that it works on your system. Can you check if it
does work after a clean/fresh install of both wine and 3dmark2001se.
I forgot to mention that I use the default wine packages that come with fedora
core 6, currently at version 0.9.25. I have installed custom builds of wine as
well, but as I said I did a fresh install of the fedora packages just to be
sure. I'll now try to uninstall wine again, check if there is anything left
behind, clean up as appropriate and install again and will report back.
thanks

Does your patch pass all the tests? Also, mightn't you be able to use memcmp
rather than your for loop to shorten it?
If you could add to test_VarBstrCmp (in tests/vartype.c) a test that used lcid
to show differences in behavior for lcid==0 vs. lcid==something else, that would
certainly help too.

Yery intresting: I found out that this only happens with an active internet
connection. If my internet connection is down, it won't crash.
Chemsketch fetches some xml file from the internet because of the "Newsbar"
scrolling at the bottom of the window. So I think it's msxml related. I also
don't see any msxml-fixmes in the log if my internet connection is down.
Btw: I'm doing regression testing...

Hi,
I did not experienced any version of wine that would enable me to use
chemsketch. Both chemsketch 10 and 8 have been nonfunctional (drawn formulas
were non-readable and some menus were also non-readable).
If tried to show the templates window, it works, but the formulas are completely
unreadable.
In Chemsketch 10, also all buttons on the right side in the vertical panel were
non-readable.
This I experienced in Wine 0.9.24

Cancel that. My problem was due to using an unsupported video card. Turns out
the MX440 is not compatible with Fedora Core 6! Although the binary 96.29 driver
from yum does "work" it generates these thread locking errors and there are
missing textures. Sorry, and a note to others: don't report bugs re: nVidia
MX440 and kernel 2.6.18 until the nVidia folks can get a "supported" driver out
the door.

Summary: Loader compilation error on 0.9.26
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.26.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-loader
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: imaxfun(a)gmail.com
While compiling the new version of Wine 0.9.26 from source, I get an error and
cannot get it finished. The error happens while compiling the loader, so I
assume that's correct component for this. As far as I understand on basis of the
error text, it is something about undefined reference to Wine_version...
Perhaps I'm just too dumb for this, but I didn't have similar problem earlier on
upgrading to 0.9.25, so IMHO this is regression in 0.9.26. I have removed the
old version completely, and the configuration goes fine. Also the compilation
starts normally until that. Returning 0.9.25 binary goes without problem, too.
I'll include the consol output below.

output of lsmod
I would like to work on this, although I am poor and lack the free time as I
must fulfill my obligations. If it helps, I am only getting this error on one
of my 4 machines. All machines are running an identical install of Fedora Core
6, with the latest nVidia driver, so it appears to be the sound hardware or
driver modules, or the video hardware (nVidia MX 440) on this one machine. I
have attached the output of lsmod.
