Example: focus is on File - New, which has a submenu. When pressing the right arrow key, the File - New submenu is not opened. Instead the Edit menu is opened. Wine 0.9.23 under Ubuntu 6.06, kernel 2.6.15-27-686, Internet Explorer 6.0.2800.1106, installed via IEs4Linux. BF1942 (any version) calls GetDepthStencilSurface/IUnknown_Release and checks the reference count to be 0, but wine returns 1. I have no solution yet, but will work on it. Bug 6452 map editor problem also was bisected to the same commit. Start the tester.exe then set focus on the Yellow dual 4 line lcd simulation and then function key 1 should cause the text displayed to update. Ubuntu is Debian, and only 0.9.1.9 is available through synaptic. Trying to start from the program directory didn't help. The program works without installing; just copying the program files works. Only some DLL's need to be hand assigned, but the dictionary ask for it at startup. If you want I can upload the programfiles somewhere. 15 MB for only dutch, or 100 for allt he dictionaries. Info about the nature of the problem: Acts like a blocking problem with keyboard input - animation for the key pressed is begun, so the first keypress registers, but the lock happens before the action is underway and lasts longer depending on how long the key was held down for. I don't see the 99% CPU usage other people are seeing with this problem at all, it can be at 40% when it's blocking. Also, setting the game to use mousewheel/buttons for movement removes the problem (whilst not being very playable). I can report a separate bug(s) for the following two issues too if requested, but since they could well be related related I'll post them here for now - keypresses in Max Payne are extremely inconsistent: 1. - attempting to rebind keys through the game's config system shows all keys registering as Left Alt key when pressed - however movement keys W,A,S,D etc. usually get registered as themselves in the game, the appropriate action starts, they just lock it for a second as well. 2. Occasionally a keypress will cause the game to pause and display the in-game pause message instead of trying to move. Pressing it again a few times will unpause it - are buttons sometimes but not always registering as "p"? All of these issues are in 0.9.22, and I can obviously provide any output requested, although this system was working with Max Payne in largely the same config and .9.12 or so of wine, and I see nothing different spewing out with WINEDEBUG=+all (other than the usual messages about the 3D card in current versions). I've tried using the loki installer from liflg.org, and installing through wine with/without native libraries (dinput, installation, etc.) installed. There are several ole errors in the resulting log that weren't in there previously, so I think they are the result of recent patches. To install it, though, I cabextract the iTunesSetup.exe file and run msiexec /a iTunes.msi. I'm working on improving the test case as I discovered a way that fixed the test case, but not diablo. It's taking quite a while, because it's a shot in the dark. I want to make note here, that dialog boxes on top of fullscreen ddraw are totally supported on windows. It works too on wine from a test case I discovered in the DX8 SDK. However, the problem here is these apps use custom dialog boxes, and even with Diablo, replaces some of the dialog functions from user32.dll. I just wanted to update here as well, none of the patches posted so far I believe are correct. The GetDesktopWindow one is nice, as it does show behavior, but it clearly breaks other things from tests I have done. The desktop when receiving mouse movement messages causes a message to be sent to execute the correct block of code for drawing of the dialog boxes in Diablo. But there is also a timer that should be doing the same thing on it's own, which this GetDesktopWindow scenario does nothing for. And using the Desktop window, it is visibly wrong in Diablo as the drawing seems out of order and missing some things. Russian keys do not work. The game lags a lot, windowed mode does not work at all, getting fixme:ddraw:IDirectDrawImpl_WaitForVerticalBlank (0x16d8c8)->(1,(nil)): Stub forever. Actually I remember it worked some releases ago (5~10), but there was a problem when different black triangles appeared many times. It was weird, but at least it worked without lags, at all... full screen mode always lagged for me in wine :) getting 5 fps maximum I think :) cedega works better this way, but it lags during loading maps, even worse than Wine. 3. Actually, "Control Panel" (control.exe) has (limited) usability (configuration of wine - ODBC, and display for example). What you have to do is copy .cpl files from an existing windows machine (probably from c:\winnt\system32 dir.) to your wine system dir (probably c:\windows\system32) and do a lot of trial and error with native/builtin configuration of control.exe. Some .cpl files make wine crash, e.g. "intl.cpl" (at least, in my case). I get the same crash as your's in comment #3. Is a bug in urlmon. When run with native urlmon, it runs into another bug, which seems more difficult to workaround, it pops up a messagebox the an error has occurred. After creating the fake ie6 registry key i found: First there's a problem with missing version info in olepro32. I've sent a patch for that to wine-patches. For now it's enough to copy a native olepro32.dll to system32. After that it crashes in advapi32. With a simple hack i was able to let the installer finish correctly. I don't know if the hack is correct, or where this really should be fixed (in advapi32 or ntdll?). It takes up to a week to get feedback, it almost never goes through the first time, and often it just gets completely ignored. Since I only posted it yesterday, it could take a while. The dirty rectangle patch is very incomplete (it has to set the rectangle for every single GDI function, not just BitBlt), so I haven't even submitted that one.
