I got Notes running after I removed all but TCPIP from the Ports line in notes.ini. 4. Here it fails even for the small file, oh well. I copied the WebPages directory under Linux root "/" and directed the app to "Z:\WebPages", may vary for you. The app needs "mfc42.dll" in order to work. I'm not attaching the source code here, since I don't know how the MS samples are copyrighted. I got it from an MSDN CD. It had installed. What I probably need to do is rm -rf .wine again delete the icons & reinstall and confirm whether the icon link on the desktop is created correctly. Upon an initial check of the program it looks like the icon problem has been fixed too... The installer looks for the SOURCEDIR property to find the Abcpy.ini file that contains the serial, but the SOURCEDIR property was not set correctly. My patch correctly set SOURCEDIR in the ResolveSource action, but we run into another problem now. The CA_GetUserInfo custom action occurrs in both the InstallExecuteSequence and InstallUISequence tables. Here are the values compared with the ResolveSource action: InstallExecuteSequence InstallUISequence ------------------------------------------ ResolveSource 850 CA_GetUserInfo 925 CA_GetuserInfo 862 ResolveSource 960 The way Wine's msi works right now, if an install is a UI install, we run through the InstallUISequence, and then the InstallExecuteSequence. This means CA_GetUserInfo runs before ResolveSource and SOURCEDIR won't be set. I have a log of the install run in Windows, and it shows that native actually joins the two tables together when doing a UI install and runs the new table, in order. In this case, ResolveSource gets called before CA_GetUserInfo and SOURCEDIR is set. Your old .wine has a lot of old garbage and data that interferes with the new install. Wine is still beta, and as such, you have to rm -rf .wine and wineprefixcreate every now and then to get all the new goodies in .wine. The earlier versions loaded correctly under wine but did not use msi. The version mentioned above (V2.00k) does use msi and fails to install. The actual program run perfectly (except for a minor icon display issue which has a workaround). The only other thing stopping it from getting a platinum rating is that it fails to install. There are numerous msi errors to give you something to work on. When you download the program from the website you actually download a 141K file called SetupWebEngineV200k.Exe. When you run this under wine, it then downloads an msi file called WebEngineV200k.msi (approx 4.6MB). So far so good. There are a few errors displayed in the console window as shown below but the file seems to download correctly. Here's the errors so far..... What you are seeing are dialog windows drawn on top of fullscreen ddraw. Now a standard message box or other dialog windows work fine. The problem appears because Starcraft/Diablo have a library called storm.dll. That library has custom dialog functions (like "SDlgCreateDialog") they use in place of the standard windows API ones. Essentially they are creating dialog windows from scratch. I have not been able to identify what it is depending on for its implementation. Now, I reviewed my xorg.conf file and detected that I was using "ati" driver (instead "fglrx" - ati propietary driver) under X. After I reconfigured xorg.conf for use fglrx and create the value: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Programs\Wine\Direct3D\DirectDrawRenderer With "gdi" as data, works with 0.9.22 version (remember: FC5 distro). With "opengl" as data, works slower (Starcraft general performance slows), but works too. Now I can connect to b.net without problems ... but: 1) only can join into the first game, on second and next games, I can't join (allways no response). 2) The background windows aren't painted and the texts are overlapped allways, they arent erased. I tried using Windows 2000 fonts (replacing wine fonts files) and no solution. With wine fonts, works too, but texts are missaligned, overlapped and don't fit into screen or their respective windows (Spanish texts). At least, joining and exiting b.net, I can play games with friends. Exactly in patch: winex11.drv: Move WGL extension code to winex11.drv 12dbce5c938a060721a70411d579b4e6eec2c4a6 Background: In Poland we have program called "P³atnik". It is very important, because we use this to send taxes and other stupid things. Unfortunately it is only for windows, it uses some weird components like MDAC, MS JET, Internet Explorer (MSXML3, crypto32 etc). Almost everything works (in fact many things doesn't work, but it is still usable). And now what breaks this patch: when I want to print program shows small windows with progress. Printing is working fine, but after this finish his work, window with progress should disappear. But what I get: http://republika.pl/kejk/wine.log This "fixme" message is normal, it occurs always when print and is harmless. I've done some investigation (git bisec...) and found that your patch is responsible for this :) If you need some more information, I'll provide some. This driver custom encodes fonts - this appears to be true regardless of the ppd file or font, I've tried several dozen combinations. I rate this as major, but critical or blocker might be closer to the mark: it makes wine useless for producing pdf files because the pdf files contain custom encoded fonts making it impossible to extract the text. Try this. Create a document in word. Print it to a file. Convert the ps to pdf using ps2pdf (I also tried acrobat distiller with the same result). Open the pdf file in any version of adobe acrobat. Select the text and copy it to the clipboard (same result whether you use acrobat in windows or linux), and past to a word processor. Presto: total gibberish. There is no work-around because current versions of wine do not make it possible to load a different print driver. It looks like it's getting stuck somewhere in X11DRV_DIB_SetImageBits. I hit control-c in the debugger when it stopped, and then cont again and it's unstuck for a few seconds. Could it be that the dib code is getting an exception and moo2's video/input thread is just waiting for the call to return? The audio continues to play while stuck, and you can close it just fine. This is a small web server app (called WRC, for web remote center) based on the Microsoft MFC sample app HTTPSVR. It happily works under Windows, but that'd be the wrong thing for running it 24/7. ;-) It's not yet working under Wine, fails to serve larger files, but we've pretty much narrowed down the problem by adding logs to the app and using ethereal. For example, the app tries to write a 25017 bytes .jpg image to the socket, but the socket only allows 11680 bytes at a time, and the TCP stack fragments this in 8 packets of 1460 bytes, presumably because it only has 8 buffers reserved. So far so good. We see them being sent on the Ethernet and the ACK's are coming in, but after these 8 packets there should be a signal to trigger the OnSend function of the app so it can send the next part of data, but this never happens... The reselection of the socket did not return an error. Given the reselection is ok, and at the Ethernet level messages are consistently sent and ACK's received, the conclusion is that there might be a bug in Wine. So here we are stuck. The error is very simple, WRC server processes a request and builds a response in a memory buffer called m_buf (member of CRequestSocket). In case an image is requested it will realloc the buffer and read the complete image into the buffer, setting m_cbOut to the number of bytes in m_buf which are to be sent. After this the AsyncSelect( FD_WRITE | FD_CLOSE ) member of CRequestSocket is called to initiate the writing of data to the network, this in done by MFC/Windows calling the OnSend member whenever the underlying socket is able to handle data. In this function we send data and check for an error, a partial send or a complete send. Every time a partial send is completed the AsyncSelect( FD_WRITE | FD_CLOSE ) is repeated so MFC/Windows will get back to us when data is sent on the network, and this seems to fail. I start the game, and after a couple of screens showing the developers' logos, an introductory movie begins. I can either let the movie play through, or hit the ESC key to abort it, it doesn't seem to make any difference. If I move the mouse slowly, I can drag the cursor to the "New Game" button and click on it, which opens the new game menu (called the "Galactic Setup" in the manual). At this point, it doesn't matter how quickly or slowly I try to move the mouse, the game hangs as soon as I move it. As you suggested, I waited for ten seconds before trying to move the mouse, but it still hangs. According to the note's author the problem lies in the font not being recognized as a symbol font. He resolved this using fontforge to create a version that is recognized by wine as a symbol font. Just put the revised font into wine/fonts along with some core fonts for type and IT JUST WORKS. This resolves my problem... but still WINE and windows treat this font differently so there is still some incompatability. Then try moving the mouse. I can do this 100% of the time at the load game screen. I think it's hanging independent of the mouse movement. For information, in at least Eudora the tooltips work fine, so I presume it's a problem that relates to the interaction between Wine and one of the IE related files. The FIXME is there because SetCooperativeLevel is some strange call which is not documented propery with all the combinations of cooplevels and the cooplevels that have been set before. But it looks like it is a good idea to remove the fixme.
