Nicklists in channel windows are not drawn as they shoud be.
Instead of nicks, the nicklist contents is from the window that has been focused
before. A click in the nicklist forces it to update its contents.
Similarly, the channel list window does not redraw its contents on the screen
after being switched back to from another window. This time, however, each line
is redrawn - one by one - when being clicked.

I tested a bit more and noticed that setting the Windows version via winecfg
helps here. The problem doesn't appear when setting the following versions:
Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows NT 4.0. When selecting the
following versions the DDE problem appears: Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows
2003. When selectin any other (older) version Office 97 doesn't install
anyway.
Anybody here who can confirm that the DDE problem also appears with a native
Win 2K, XP or 2003?

Before you run the installer (SilkTest8001.exe),
you have to install the visual C 6 runtimes.
The installer tries to register things that require
the vb6 runtime and WINHTTP.DLL, but seems to complete
successfully even if you don't have those installed.
To run the app itself, do
$ cd ~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Segue/SilkTest
$ wine Partner.exe
This gets upset during startup:

(The main screen's toolbar is not drawn; wine complains
err:toolbar:TOOLBAR_GetImageListForDrawing bitmap for ID 0, index 0 is not

But that's not the subject of this bug report.)
The UI crashes on many operations. For this bug report, let's focus on
File / New Project / Autogenerate
and load one of the example projects in Examples, e.g.
caseinsv.pln. You'll get a lovely 62 deep stack traceback
which seems to repeat itself (maybe we're doing some message handling
immediately when we should be queueing it, or something).
I'll attach a log.

With help from vitamin in the #winehq channel, we found that the reason for this

ivan, i suggest changing the severity to either critical or blocker so that the
wine devs will actually deal with this.

The error does not pop up in Wine 0.9.19. However, it still seems that wineboot is not actually being called
because:
1. When I select to restart within the installation I get no more output from the terminal.
2. When I select to restart later within the installation and then run wineboot afterwards I get lots of
output from the terminal.
I should not be geting more output in one case but not the other. I should be either getting more output
in both cases or in neither.

Did you patch the game to version 1.1?
This problem occurs when you run the unpatched version (1.0).
Also, make sure the patch has all filenames lowercased, some patches have all
filenames uppercased and this seems to be giving problems...

You can download a time limited version of this program for testing at:
http://www.magsoftwrx.com/ << Select the Personal version.
Installed fine, including a shortcut on the desktop.
http://pastebin.ca/128075 << terminal output with default settings and files
replaced comclt32.dll via instructions via IRC support.
http://pastebin.ca/128082 << terminal output with replaced file. Program did not
launch.

like. Here is what it looks like >>

Since times can't be put in, this stops use of the program all together. Other
than the missing calendars on the main window, and lack of time entry,
everything else seems to work fine.

I think that shows that your SDL arts driver is going to be broken because of
the arts bug too. If you really insist on building arts, then you really ought
to patch arts.

Yeah, I already reported to that bug several months ago, but was told to submit
a new report. Unfortunately, libsdl1.2-dev depends on libartsc0-dev, so
removing the packages is no solution for me. Isn't there any way to prevent the
crash?

No, it's not a pure configuration problem. There's also a bug in arts. See bug
4051 for talk for a patch that has never been accepted. However, you're not
using arts, and it doesn't help you have the artsc_config program. That program
is specifically designed for configure scripts to query so it's causing you to
build the arts linkage (which dev packages are supposed to allow). The real fix
is to remove the dev package because it's not meant to work alone; so removing
it, your crash will go away.

The program `lnusertemp' is available
$ whereis lnusertemp
lnusertemp: /usr/bin/lnusertemp /usr/X11R6/bin/lnusertemp /usr/bin/X11/
lnusertemp /usr/share/man/man1/lnusertemp.1.gz
Furthermore, as I said before, there is no arts installed:
$ whereis artsd
artsd:
$ find / -wholename "*/bin/*" 2>/dev/null | grep -i arts
/bin/run-parts
Thus I don't understand why wine assumes that arts is installed or used. I
don't think that this problem is the fault of the distro or any configuration.
Wine wants to use arts although it is not available. So the configure script
needs to be fixed to check for the arts binary, and winecfg needs to be fixed
to print (at most) an error message about the non existing directory, but there
isn't any reason to let it crash.
Please explain why this should be a arts or system configuration problem. Sure,
arts is a really horrible program, but I don't see a reason to blame arts for
this problem.

saulius:
$ winecfg
Creating link /home/scytheman/.kde/socket-scy.

(after I activated the audio tab)
Jesse Allen, I don't think that it is a pure system configuration problem. Wine
works fine, even with sound. Only winecfg crashes after activating the audio
tab, because wine (or some strange application executed by wine (which I can't
locate with a strace)) wants to access a non-existent directory.
I don't know why wine assumes that arts is installed if there is a /usr/bin/
artsc-config. Shouldn't it look for the artsd binary instead? And I think it
shouldn't crash if the directory /tmp/ksocket-$USER doesn't exist, because it
doesn't mean that there is a serious problem with the sound/system setup.
There has to be some workaround. As I already said, I am not the only one with
this problem.

All;
I use a windows torrent client called utorrent.exe (http://www.utorrent.com).
It works fine up through wine 0.9.17
Starting with wine 0.9.18, it dies as soon as I run it.
It also dies with 0.9.19.
If I remove wine and re-install wine 0.9.17, it runs fine.
I am using the latest utorrent.exe (v 1600)
I think wine is terrific and and I used utorrent.exe as it is a really small
capable torrent utility that does encryption.
Any help getting it to run on >wine 0.9.17 would be great.
Thanks.

Summary: Wine does not provide an implementation of winhlp32.exe
Product: Wine
Version: CVS
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-help
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: dank(a)kegel.com
Wine removed support for winhlp32.exe when it switched
how it supported built-in executables around 0.9.11.
This caused a regression in some apps
(for instance http://rayfract.com's trial version)
which fail to install if there is no winhlp32.exe.
I'm attaching a patch that adds an implementation of winhlp32.exe
that just forwards to winhelp.exe. It's not quite right yet,
but it does let rayfract.com's trial install.

if i remember correctly it tries to install directx 9.0 because it cna't find

Looks like stack corruption.
In dlls/gdi/dib.c search for GetDIBits.
Then search for '0x07e0'.
Comment out the following code.
#if 0
case 16:
info->bmiHeader.biBitCount = 16;
info->bmiHeader.biCompression = BI_BITFIELDS;
((PDWORD)info->bmiColors)[0] = 0xf800;
((PDWORD)info->bmiColors)[1] = 0x07e0;
((PDWORD)info->bmiColors)[2] = 0x001f;
break;
#endif
Rebuild gdi32.dll.so and qtracker can show something ( before it crashes with a
division by zero ).
I don't know enough about dibs to fix this though.

Screenshot of bug in Wine 0.9.19 with latest SL
The bug seems to be partially improved for me in Wine 0.9.19. Pants no longer
descend past the bottoms of my feet (Which occured due to the entire pants
model being visibile, instead of the bottom of it being properly transparent)
So the pants have proper alpha now, but a part of their texture seems to end up
on the feet of the avatar. I've attached a screenshot in which the outer sides
of my avatar's feet have taken on part of the texture of the avatar's pants.
Because of the ever onward and upward march of SL and Wine, I've obsoleted my
old screenshot.

I must admit that if I had not tested this on a slower machine than the
Pentium IV, I would probably not have noticed the difference. On the Celeron
2.8 GHz, the difference is quite clear. And if you consider that this game is
supposed to run fine on a 300-500 MHz computer . . .
The following results are from the Celeron.
In Wine 0.9.19, Settlers IV consumes around 65% of the CPU when I let it alone
with the console window on top of it. If I start scrolling around, this usage
increases to around 96%. X and wineserver use almost nothing (they are not on
the list most of the time; the most I could see X using was 0.3%.
In Wine 0.9.15, Settlers IV also consumes around 65%, but this usage does NOT
increase if I scroll the map, which sort of explains why the game is slower
when scrolling between the old and new code.
In 0.9.15, if I mouse the mouse, X usage goes from 22% to around 15%, and
wineserver usage goes up from around nothing to 1.3%.
Still, scrolling in 0.9.16+ is much slower than in 0.9.15-.

Hi again.
wine 0.9.19, problem still existing. But I'll try to give some hints for
creating a workaround, or something similar. configure checks /usr/bin/artsc-
config for existance. If this file exists, configure assumes that arts is
configured and running. But on Debian GNU/Linux (and probably other Distros), /
usr/bin/artsc-config is shipped with the package libartsc0-dev, which neither
includes arts itself, nor depends on it (see http://choerbaert.org/scy/pics/
depend_graph_libartsc0-dev.png). Deleting/moving this file solves the winecfg
crash.
I am not the only one with this problem. On IRC I recognized several people
with the same issues. After I told them to execute "touch /tmp/ksocket-$USER",
winecfg didn't crash any more (until next reboot, of course). Thus I think it
is also in your interest to fix this problem.

Summary: explorer.exe consumes almost all of CPU when running
Tribes 1 in fullscreen mode
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.18.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-programs
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: smustudent1(a)yahoo.com
When running the free download version of Starsiege Tribes (the original) in
fullscreen mode (1600x1200 LCD monitor) explorer.exe seems to consume almost all
available resources - the program is unresponsive if started in fullscreen mode,
and when it is started in smaller size (which does work) and switched to
fullscreen, the mouse is almost completely unresponsive - it takes many seconds
to process a movement. When explorer.exe is killed from a non-graphical
terminal after Tribes is started (Ctrl-Alt-F1), Tribes then proceeds to run
normally. Tribes can be successfully run in non-fullscreen without killing
explorer.exe, although it is not clear if this is due to the less resource
intensive nature of the drawing need for the smaller screen or a different
explorer.exe behavior in non-fullscreen interaction.
This is true in both 0.9.18 and 0.9.19. In 0.9.19 the following error messages
are observed on the console when running Tribes - no idea if they have any
relevance to this problem:
fixme:keyboard:X11DRV_GetKeyNameText (00000000,0x33cc78,256): unsupported key,
vkey=0000, ansi=0000 (this one appears quite often)
These two only seem to appear once:
fixme:d3d:IWineD3DDeviceImpl_GetAvailableTextureMem (0x169b98) : stub,
simulating 64MB for now, returning 64MB left
fixme:win:WIN_CreateWindowEx Parent is HWND_MESSAGE
fixme:dsound:DSOUND_MixOne problem with underrun detection (mixlen=1568 <
primary_done=58288) (this one also is quite common)
There is a longer error message on exit which I will post as an attachment.

The patch works with wine 0.9.19 and Lotus Notes. But it causes oops
with using ie4linux and native dlls. I think it is because of the NULL pointer
in SetDIBits. The Lotus Notes problem has to be somewere else, or there is a
problem with ie4linux. When i run wine without the patch, ie6 starts. So, I
reason the patch can't be ok.

I can confirm this bug. Resizing the tool windows makes Photoshop crash. When
it crashes, it seems to go into an infinite loop and 'locks' keyboard and mouse
so I have to reboot.
However, if I click on an tab in the tool window before I try to resize it,
everything works as expected.
By the way, it's quite annoying that the tool windows aren't managed by the
window manager. When you minimize Photoshop or switch to another Desktop (e.g.
in KDE), the palettes stay around and float above all windows. Maybe they could
be given a default "borderless" style?

Summary: Application gets crashed when I press enter in combobox

When list box of combo box is expanded, no crash occurs when I press enter. When
list box of combo box isnÂ’t expanded and cursor is present in combo box and I
press enter, Application crashes.
I tried to debug the wine code and could find the place from where crash
occurred. It is coming from /home/ravinder/winecode/wine-0.9.16/dlls/user/edit.c
case WM_GETDLGCODE:
result = DLGC_HASSETSEL | DLGC_WANTCHARS | DLGC_WANTARROWS;
if (es->style & ES_MULTILINE)
{
result |= DLGC_WANTALLKEYS;
break;
}
if (lParam && (((LPMSG)lParam)->message == WM_KEYDOWN))
{
int vk = (int)((LPMSG)lParam)->wParam;
if (es->hwndListBox && (vk == VK_RETURN || vk == VK_ESCAPE))
{
if (SendMessageW(GetParent(hwnd), CB_GETDROPPEDSTATE, 0, 0))
++ {
++ MessageBoxA(NULL,”INSIDE IF LOOP”, “EDIT”, MB_OK);
result |= DLGC_WANTMESSAGE;
++ }
++ else
++ {
++ //Some Code is missing to handle this situation when list box of combo box
isnÂ’t expanded.
++ }
}
break;
I tried sending different messages from this place like WM_KILLFOCUS but crash
inst being avoided. In one case crash stops when I remove the
if (SendMessageW(GetParent(hwnd), CB_GETDROPPEDSTATE, 0, 0))
and put directly
result |= DLGC_WANTMESSAGE; under
if (es->hwndListBox && (vk == VK_RETURN || vk == VK_ESCAPE))
But in this case focus isnÂ’t lost.
I made a test case but I wasnÂ’t able to simulate the issue in test case. I have
attached the screenshot of the issue and log generated with channel as edit and
combo.

Hello,
several InvalidateRect(NULL,NULL,true) calls end in a messed X11 Desktop Window.
The explorer desktop is suddenly painted with the default black brush.
The best way to reproduce this:
for (int i=0;i<1000;i++)
InvalidateRect(NULL,NULL, true);
Sometimes it shows the wine desktop after 10 loops and sometimes not even after
1000 loops. The problem is, that the explorer desktop (from time to time)
receives a WM_ERASEBKGRND and than triggers it's internal paint routine.
Program to reproduce: Notes Client opening the Administrator Client or the
mentioned InvalidateRect loop

This isn't a wine bug. The intro movies run fine in wine. The only problem I've
discovered with this game so far is the mouse sticks in the center of the screen
on the game after the movies have finished and you cant play because of it.
Most likely you don't have something configured right on your machine in linux.
