This Lines are just the Descriptions of the Informations I expected from the
"WINEDEBUG" - Options :-)
Problems Found in this log:
1: EnumPrinter returns 0 Printer, but AddPrinter is called.
We need a better log in wine here.
This must be fixed first.
(The log is not complete. winspool scans the CUPS/LPD-Printers during
the Load of "winspool.drv").
2: PrintDlgExA is a stub
3: NetWkstaGetInfo Level 102 is not supported.
(This function is NT-Only)
4: CoRegisterMessageFilter is a stub.
(The Programm requires OLE-Stuff, that is not implemented yet)
Does "wine notepad" has a printer / is able to print?
Is a Demo for the Programm available for Download?
Can you please try to fill an AppDB-Entry for the Programm?
The other Problems (wrong Printout) are for later.
I have no rights to add the "NoAppDBEntry" - Keyword.

Maybe "wineserver -k" will help? If no, then maybe this plus uninstalling app,
removing ~/.wine dir and reinstalling app will help?
In a case of success IMHO two logs would be preffered:

I grepped the former list of debug channels out from the "dlls/olea*" directory.

My guess may be wrong, but I think the goal of wine devs is to avoid using of
native DLLs at all. So for this reason they are never going to implement such
feature.
But no one stops you or other guy from implementing it. Still, as you can
automate overrides for your application (described in the earlier post), coding
DLL-override-pairing wouldn't be worth the contributed time, which instead can
be used to implement missing features of odbccp32 or oleaut32. :)

Thank Yor, saulius.
I can say that problem is solved by specifying the native odbc32 and odbccp32 in
DLL overrides, whatever method used to do that.
The only question now is, if we can help Wine somehow to automate. For example,
to help him recognize some DLL-s as DLL pairs, such as odbc32 and odbccp32, so
that if user sets one of them to native, wine would automagically do that for
the second DLL in pair, if user hasn't explicitely said something else.
Such an internal Wine logic could be useful for other DLL pairs too.
What do You think?

The printer is correctly recognized by ISS app as default one, and in this
case, printing DOSEN'T lead to "Printer not ready" error as it usually does

only output is single horizontal line on paper.
Maybe the difference in the behaviour of those machines and printer types can
bring in some idea of what's wrong with Wine and VFP9 printing, why don't they
understand each other..

logfile bz2 other machine (inform10) -changing printer unsucc.
+driver,+profile,+print,+psdrv,+winspool
This is logfile from different machine (inform10) with wine 200504.
Started ISS app, invoked printer dialogue.
Please note, that the default printer in ISS app (Samsung SCX4100) dosen't
match the CUPS default (xerox_230).
Then I attemped to change printer to xerox_230, unsuccesfully (no complaint,
but printer untouched).
It might be connected to the bug somehow. This is the machine where the only
successfull attemp of printing has been ever made with the VFP9 (VFP7 printing
worked well everywhere).
The succesfull attemp has beed done this way:
As today, the default ISS printer has been the SCX. Colegue has REMOVED the
printer in CUPS, then xerox_230 has been correctly automatically recognised by
the ISS app as default printer, and the printing attemp has been successfull.
This experiment we are no more unable to repeat -the Xerox 230 no more enables
in ISS automatically, and doing this manually dosen't work as I report and
document by this logfile.

------- Additional Comments From mike(a)codeweavers.com 2006-11-01 02:30 -------
This one is interesting. Installing requires the windows version set to winxp,
but it fails after that with the error message:
err:msidb:load_string_table string table load failed! (0035e981 != 001ce981)
The following notes are mainly for me, but might be useful to somebody else
trying to understand the format of the MSI string table.
There's a very long string in the string table (more than 0x1a0000 bytes), and I
don't exactly understand the format of the entries that declare it:
str# len%2^16 ref real len
4820 0 1
4821 34523 1 100059
4822 0 1
4823 0 2
4824 0 1
4825 6197 1 1710133
4826 0 0
4827 24 1 24
4828 0 1
4829 34124 1 99660
So we need to calculate "real len" as above...
"str#" is the offset into the table, and I interpret the unsigned short integer
pairs "(len%2^16) ref" as follows:
"n 1" -> a string of n bytes (where n < 2^16)
"0 0" -> a hole in the string table
"0 m", "n 1" -> a string of m*65536+n bytes (should give up to 4G)
"0 k", "0 m", "n 1" -> shouldn't be necessary...
I'm still not sure how a "0 n" followed by "0 m" is meant to be interpreted.
Looking at the actual size of the string, it seems like it will increase the
length of the next string by 0xa00000*m + 0x10000*n ... though I probably need
to write some tests to confirm this.

Status: UNCONFIRMED

More specifically, the preview has to have an image on it that is at least 90x90
pixels large. As most presentations have a background image this is nearly
always the case.
How to reproduce:
- Start PowerPoint 2000 and load a file that contains a preview as described OR
run PowerPoint directly with the file as argument.
- Wait some seconds => deadlock
This doesn't happen when keeping PowerPoint busy, ie. by switching through the
slides fast enough. In fact, it is possible to open the file, remove the
preview, save and have it working.

Upon upgrade of Wine to 0.9.5 all of my symlinks are broken. I deleted my .wine

cannot use notepad.exe, progman.exe, etc

Adds the IE6 version to the registry.
This patch makes IE6 appear to be installed, and allows turbo lister install to
run to the end. It probably won't be accepted into Wine, but it might be
useful for testing this and other bugs.
When Rob and Marcus's patches are submitted and accepted into Wine, I'll close
this bug.

Okay, I edited .wine/system.reg in vi and added these lines to the top.
[Hardware\\Devicemap\\SerialComm]
"Serial0"="COM1"
I ran rededit and the entry is there. Hypertrm can now see the port but I don't
think it is able to talk on the port yet.

I can't. The regedit program that comes with Wine gives an errror "Subkey must
be volitile" every time I try to use the regedit GUI. And I can't add it to the
.wine/*.reg files because none of them have the keys for
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Hardware, only for Software and nothing above that.
Where the heck are the rest fo the keys now?

Summary: No serial ports

Trying to get serial ports working in Wine but no ports show up.
I can run minicom and talk to the serial device. This tells me that the port is
working and I have permissions to use the device.
I added the port acording to the directions
ln -s /dev/ttyUSB0 ~/.wine/dosdevices/com1
I also tried /dev/ttyS0 and got the same results.
I could not get my custom serail program to find any com ports so I ran
hypertrm.exe and it to cannot see any com ports.
I turned on the debug like so
royce@ttyp6[~]$ WINEDEBUG=+comm,+serial wine c:/hypertrm.exe
fixme:font:WineEngCreateFontInstance Untranslated charset 255
fixme:tapi:lineInitialize (0x7f5169cc, 0x7d9f0000, 0x7da1ba77, "HyperTerminal",

fixme:tapi:lineInitialize (0x7f5169cc, 0x7d9f0000, 0x7da1ba77, "HyperTerminal",

and that is all the output I am able to get from it.
I also ran wine under strace to see if it found the com1 link file.
royce@ttyp6[~]$ export WINEDEBUG=+comm,+serial,+file,+all; strace wine
c:/hypertrm.exe 2>&1 | grep -i com1
write(2, "0009:Call kernel32.lstrcmpA(7da2"..., 700009:Call

If I do an strace and grep for dosdevices Wine only attempts to open the drive
devices.
I don't know if this is a bug but I don't think I am doing anything wrong.
Acording to everything I have read all I need to do is make the link file to be
able to use serial ports in Wine.

I just noticed something interesting. Half-Life 2 was updating in Steam when I
had a look, it has probably done this for some time..
Once I turned off auto-update for Half-Life 2 in steam CPU load went from
95-100% to normal.
Once the update for Half-Life 2 was done. CPU usage went down during several
minutes, but once I started a game (Counter-Strike 1.6) CPU usage again went up
again.
I think Valve has done some kinda of change in the network code for Steam. As
everything is OK when running in offline mode. It's probably a good guess. It
would make sense of what I was seing aswell, when Steam was talking to the
Network, everything was freezed up, once it did not, everything was fine.
I tested to refresh the server list, just running Steam, and I CPU went up to
100% within a couple of seconds every time, once I stopped the serverlist
refresh, CPU went back to normal.
I managed to minimized freezing by turning off auto-updates on the games and
shutting off auto-fetch on gaming-news/update info. But it's stil unplayable.

If the printer, visible in app as default, is NOT the CUPS default one, then if
I am able to change the printer in ISS app, and the printer VISIBLY changes in
ISS app, then printing works. Unfortunately, usually if I even attemp to change
the printer, it dosen't visually change in printer column and printing dosen't work.
Might it be that some variable (or set of variables) is incorrectly filled after
start, and then if it is manually changed (and the immediate visibility of
change in the ISS app indicates the change was done correctly), then it means
that variables are set correctly now and thus printing works?

I've manually installed msxml.dll as suggested at

err:seh:setup_exception stack overflow 0 bytes in thread 0009 eip 7faa0ab3 esp
7fac1000 stack 0x7fac1000-0x7fbd0000
Changing the PE header of sonnet.exe to allocate more stack resolves the issue.
(I used "editbin" that came with MSVC. I can email you the modified .exe upon
request.)
This seems to indicate that Wine is using more stack space than Windows running
the same program. I undestand That Is Not A Bug. I do believe that Wine should
give itself more stack space when loading the PE to compensate for the difference.
In my experience, I've only tweaked stack sizes in response to seeing it
overflow. As we cannot expect the average Windows developer to test their
program under Wine, and because Wine needs more stack than Windows, I feel it is
our responsibility to compensate.
Sonnet is available at:
http://www.threestate.com/filez/3s-sonnet.zip
With more info about Sonnet at:
http://www.threestate.com/sonnetminisite.htm#top
Modified (working) version of Sonnet can be created by: (In an MSVC environment)
editbin /STACK:2000000 sonnet.exe
Where 2000000 is an abritrary yet sufficiently large number.
I'm running Gentoo on an Athlon (x86), updated as of last week, with Wine 0.9.4
emerged from the ~x86 branch in portage.
Thanks -- Justin Marrese

1. Some how it doesn't like what we return for

Need to check what doesn't it like.
2. We need to retrive Dr registers in raise_segv_exception before passing them
to exception handler. Then if they got modified store them.
This gets me to this crash (dx related?).

So here is a really strange bug, game starts up brings a error message that the
game needs 32bit color or fullscreen. (Im not running this game in a window)
You can hit "enter" and the game proceeds and the video appears (extreme slow)
after that menu is displaying (also extreme slow)
Going on "Singleplayer" closes the menu and and a msgbox pops up with: "Please
set your desktop color depth to 32 bits."
Ill attach some logs and screenshots

Invoking Rosetta with command "wine TheRosettaStone.exe" in reality invokes

The GDI function GetPixel() should return 0x00ffffff for white pixels in a
monochrome bitmap. Wine returns 0x00010000 on my system.
GetPixel() is implemented in dlls/x11drv/graphics.c. The function calls
XGetPixel() and then passes the pixel value to
X11DRV_PALETTE_ToLogical in dlls/x11drv/palette.c.
Probably the bug is in this function.
I've created an example program and hope that somebody will try to fix this
bug.

This is Earth 2160 v1.1.
I start Earth and for a second I can see a black screen, than a msgbox pops up
with: "An error has occurred during initialization of Direct3D. This can be
caused by your graphics card configuration or driver. Try to start the program
in Safe Mode (- safe mode execution parameter)."
FAQ says: Your graphics card does not support 1.2 or higher Per-Pixel Shader!
Unfortunately, you need a new graphics card.
So this seems to be just another pixel shader issue, nethertheless i provide a log.

I know no such ability. Maybe per-application DLL-overrides may help you?
Quote from the User Guide [13]:
| Within the tab you'll notice there is a Default Settings entry. If you select
| that you'll see the current default Windows Version for all applications. A
| troublesome application is best configured separately from the Default
| Settings. To do that:
|
| 1. Click on the Add application button.
| 2. Browse until you locate the .exe
| 3. After it's been added you can choose the specific Windows version Wine
| will emulate for that application.
When you select your app in the list, you can switch to the 'Libraries' tab and
enter desired DLL-overrides for odbc32 and odbccp32. After that registry should
get new key, for example:
| [HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-4\Software\Wine\AppDefaults\WEWB32.EXE]
|
| [HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-4\Software\Wine\AppDefaults\WEWB32.EXE\DllOverrides]
| "odbc32"="native"
| "odbccp32"="native"
OTOH, this quote can be adjusted, saved as a reg-file and imported (for example
when using 'winecfg' to override dll isn't desired) via command line:
wine regedit odbc_overrides.reg

Hallo,
We have an ISS application here that runs our whole office (150 computers). We
move part of them to linux, our goal is 50%.
Application is based on VFP and connects to Oracle DB using ODBC client 10.
Before, the app has been working quite well on VFP7. Now the ISS app has moved
to VFP9 and vendor has also changed the printing module.
Now the app dosen't print. On older version of Wine (200504) there is a printer
available in list at least, the printing not functional however.
On new version of Wine (0.9.5 and CVS), no printers are available at all.
Going to ask the vendor about specifications of the changes on printing system.
After CVS compilation finishes for me, I'll post a log.

Summary: TestComplete painful install, won't start once installed
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.5.
Platform: Other
URL: http://automatedqa.com
OS/Version: other
Status: NEW
Keywords: download
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-ole
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: dank(a)kegel.com
TestComplete's installer tickles a lot of err's and fixme's.
Surprisingly, the installation completes anyway, but
the app won't run. Here's a log of trying to start the app:
[dank@localhost Bin]$ ~/wine/wine TestComplete.exe
fixme:advapi:RegisterEventSourceA ((null),"AQA"): stub
fixme:advapi:RegisterEventSourceW (L"",L"AQA"): stub
fixme:ole:CoInitializeSecurity ((nil),-1,(nil),(nil),4,3,(nil),0,(nil)) - stub!
err:ole:RunningObjectTableImpl_Register Invalid combination of ROTFLAGS: 3
fixme:process:SetProcessWorkingSetSize (0xffffffff,-1,-1): stub - harmless
fixme:advapi:RegisterEventSourceA ((null),"TestComplete Service"): stub
fixme:advapi:RegisterEventSourceW (L"",L"TestComplete Service"): stub
The app then puts up a dialog box saying
"An error occurred when starting DebuggerService.
The internal COM object used by the service is not registered.
Please contact our support team at support(a)automatedqa.com."
I'll upload a full log of the install and run.
To repeat: first you have to install msvcp60.dll because
otherwise the Mozilla ActiveX control fails to install
(see bug 4064), and you have to set a registry key
(else the app's installer complains you don't have IE):
$ rm -rf ~/.wine #(be clean and reproducible)
$ notepad #(and quit; this creates the .wine directory)
$ wineserver -k #(so you can modify the registry files)
$ cat >> ~/.wine/system.reg <<"_EOF_"
[Software\\Microsoft\\Internet Explorer]
"Version"="6.0.2900.2180"
_EOF_
$ cp msvcp60.dll .wine/drive_c/windows/system32/
$ wine testcomplete4demo.exe
Annoyingly, when the installer gets to the point where it's
asking you which options you want installed,
it seems to want you to use control-click to highlight
multiple choices -- but really it wants you to check
checkboxes which are scrolled off to the left. I had
to play around with this a few times before I saw
it wasn't broken.
Towards the end of the installation,
a dialog box pops up saying
"Unable to launch tcrea4.exe.
Please try to launch it manually
after the installation process is completed."

I tried this with CVS as of 20060108.
The InstallShield installer for the Stronghold: Crusader demo starts fine, and
lets you complete all configuration steps. But when it starts to copy files, it
gives an error message and exits.
This worked fine with CVS from 20051226, with the patched that caused the
installer regression removed.
The error dialog says
Error Number: 0x80010105
Description:
Setup will now terminate.

We want to fix instller first.
Second we need to see if there is anything wrong with other parts that you
override with IE, DCOM, MSI.
So far anything usefull that I see is "Corel Photopaint 10 doesn't install". The
reason it fails - hard to tell - need relay trace:
WINEDEBUG=+tid,+seh,+relay wine program.exe &> /tmp/relay.log && grep -A 20 -B
300 "seh:" /tmp/relay.log > /tmp/relay.txt
And attach relay.txt to this bug.
And pleast don't use stripped binaries - that makes most backtraces useless.

Once again: For the last tests I used Wine 0.9.5 from scratch _without_ winetools.
But besides this: The original error I described in this bug occurs not during
installation, but during execution of Photo Paint 10. And it only occurs with
Wine >=0.9.3, not with 0.9.2 and lower.
But this could not be tested without winetools, because it seems impossible to
install PhotoPaint 10 with an unconfigured wine. I checked the winetools script
and it does nothing I wouldn't have done manually:
- Settings appropiate DLL-Overrides: Everything bultin, except "advpack". This
seems to be very near to the default settings.
- Install windows system software: DCOM98, Installer, IE

None of the Wine's dlls should endup above 2GB mark. From what I see _ALL_ DLLs

This is something REALLY REALLY wrong with your system.

Without configuring with winetools the Corel Suite refuses to install at all,
regardless what version of wine I use (I tested this with some pre-0.9-versions,
0.9.1, 0.9.3 and 0.9.5). It just displays "nothing to install".
After doing the following (with winetools), it installs but refuses to execute:
- Installing dcom98.exe
- Installing Micrsoft Installer
- Installing Internet Explorer 6 (didn't test if this is really necessary)
- Setting a long list of DLL-Overrides for default apps, where only advpack is
set to "native"
