Well I'm not even sure what to tell you here.
The only way you can get IE working is by using more native dlls that came with
it. So with that said, could you try adding mlang to the list of overrides?

Perhaps try a clean wine configuration.
If it works and you want (for whatever reason) that it works with your Windows

The patch is better than the current situation. It adds at least a configureable
way of dealing with the issue without having to recompile wine each time you
want to change the setting.
To test it out download the patch, apply the patch and recompile wine.

When you do a "cvs update" automatically downloads only the the parts that need
to be changed. So if there are very few changes then it will be very fast, (the
more changes the more it has to download). Adding -z to the command compresses
the data stream so less data is sent over the network.
If you have a dial up connection an update can take quite a while but any
broadband connection should be fast enough.
I think we could replace steps 1-3 in the online documentation with something
like the following:
--8<--
1. Select which Repository we will use.
For Main CVS Repository:
export CVSROOT=:pserver:cvs@cvs.winehq.org:/home/wine
or European Reository:
export CVSROOT=:pserver:cvs@rhlx01.fht-esslingen.de:/home/wine
2. Check out the wine source tree.
cvs login (password is cvs)
cvs -z 0 checkout wine
--8<--

Thank You for the support and for the hope :o)
If local CVS repository is not the best way, of course I will respect any better
idea. I just think that there should be valid regression testing howto; the way
chosen dosen't matter much -users like me are not capable to choose the way on
their own, and will simply follow the given instructions. If they never dig
deepely into programming, they will probably never speculate about other ways.
Of course, the "official" way should respect the assumed sources and
capabilities of majority users.
The online CVS tree has one attribute that quite disturbs me: it dosen't use
proxy, does it? Does it mean, that every compilation means downloading all the
needed source code over and over again? Or does it automatically store the
once-used sources locally and download only the missing parts?

fixme:d3d:IWineD3DDeviceImpl_SetVertexShader Setting vertex declaration
fixme:winmm:MMDRV_Exit Closing while ll-driver open

Hi,
I filed this bug based only on source-code analysis. I was working on a fix for
bug 50, which involved reorganizing how SetTextJustification() worked a bit, and
I went to make the changes in the postscript driver, only to discover that
neither of the members which are manipulated in SetTextJustification() are
referenced anywhere in the postscript driver's version of ExtTextOut(). Based
on this, I can't see how the ExtTextOut() can possibly work correctly with
SetTextJustification() -- this might be based on a misunderstanding of how the
postscript driver works on my part. I'll try to reorganize the test app for bug
50 to confirm my understanding in a testapp.
My analysis was based on the current CVS as of when this bug was filed.

Most of the problem was apparently due to the fact I was running Wine with an
user account residing on NFS. WC3 runs much better when using a local account.
I am not sure performance is as good on FC4 as it is on RH9. I'll run additional
comparisons when I have more time. I will report my findings in a separate
report if they're relevant.

Picasa uses a toolkit with a driver (Primo SDK).
It maybe that to get it to work, the interface has to be reimplemented using

Suspect that this might be a thread priority issue, but are not certain. Picasa
seems to have a number of background threads that are apparently "niced down" to
a lower priority in Windows, and thread priorities aren't implemented in Wine.

I think that this is a very valid report. Thank you for your persistence. ;^)
One of the problems is that when this section was written when only wine was in
cvs but now there are a number of other modules in cvs including Bugzilla and
the AppDB. So now Wine is one step down in the directory tree.
cvs-commit-|-appdb
|-bak
|-bugzilla
|...
|-wine
Also I do not think we really gain a lot by having the user download a local
copy of CVS since it is bloated with these other modules VS doing like in
comment #8 From Louis Lenders.
On top of that the instructions in the online documentation give you a local CVS
repository that will be out of date very soon. So if an person thinks they will
do a fair amount of regression testing in the future these instructions will
actually hinder his ability to do so.
The only benifit of a local CVS repository is that it can really speed up
regression testing if (and only if) you have a very slow internet connection.
I think an update to these instructions are in order.

Thank You for advice, i'll try it.
However, I'd like to ask: If You (or anybody else) is skilled enough, could You
please read the howto, go exactly step-by-step and insert the missing fragments
to howto? It shouldn't be hard for You, and good HOWTO is always a half-way to
success. It might help more users to participate, that would otherwise possibly
give up (I would already do if the app wasn't such crucial for my employer).
http://www.winehq.org/site/docs/winedev-guide/x1344
I have reasons to believe, that the target audience of the howto are really the
users like me: quite advanced Linux users that aren't programmers but are
capable of compiling the wine from source and wish to help find out the code
that has broken their app. The howto should reflect that and provide
easy-to-follow-and-understand way to accomplish this goal.

Quick look at the script tells me, that this is just an updater of local CVS
repository (correct me if I'm wrong). This is indeed a great thing, but it's
clearly not targeted at beginners, and dosen't help with _creating_ local
repository, that the howto dosen't describe with the needed accuracy and verbosity.
Please, don't take my posts in bad way. I'm just desperate user that needs find
out, where things get broken (other words, what patch in Wine has broken our
app). I have never been using CVS before. The howto seemed to me targeted
exactly at users like me, so I politely complain that it dosen't help me as much
as I expected (in fact, dosen't help either until now). Maybe just a few updates
and more comments cat make it useful, but I'm not skilled enough to find the way
on my own.
Just an impression about the very process of regression testing scares me.
Therefore, the idea of studying the whole CVS thing scares me much more.

it takes a _very_ long time , it does install. "Reporter" of this bug: could
you try
if it installs fine for you as well, and then close this bug?
BTW i tried to run the app, and it this is how i got at least the gui up and
working: copy hal, ntoskrnl ,msvcirt, bootvid and kdcom.dll from my
windowspartition to ~./wine/drive_c/windows/system32, change wineversion to
win98 and run with native msvcrt (WINEDLLOVERRIDES="msvcrt"=n wine
quartus.exe).
I guess those dlls are not provided by quartus so installation went fine.

loadable.
I tested game in cedega, it works fine except some graphics issues (in wine
there no any), and referencing to

16-bit stuff is supported and works just fine on amd64 (unless you have a broken
kernel, which may well be the case here).

None of the 16-bit stuff supported on amd64 platform. So if you are trying to
install something that's using 16-bit installer - you are out of luck.

Hm. What OS you got? Is this 64-bit?
If it tries to create registry hives - no go wine has no support for those, and
probably won't have in the future. (Wine had some limited read only hive
support, which was removed some time ago).

Hi, i just tried this demo (got it from
http://ftp.tpnet.pl/vol/d3/Dema_GierII/Wiz8NetDemoEB.exe that _doesn't_ need
registration :) ) and it seems to behave similar: the "presaved" file that comes
with the game is called "AAAAAAAAAAA" . When you run the game with native msvcrt
the name is correct: "Sample Party" . Ilya, could you try to run the game with
native msvcrt and report back if it changes anything? That way it's clear wether
or not the problem is in msvcrt.
(in case you don't know: copy msvcrt.dll from a windows partition to
~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32/ and run WINEDLLOVERRIDES="msvcrt=n" wine
appname.exe. if you have a windows license you might get msvcrt.dll as well from
www.dlldump.com)

Hi, Konstantin, i didn't use any configs or native windows dlls. All just
default. Futher i used cvs version(2 days ago). What version did you run it
with? I just unpacked it in ~/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files and ran it.
You could try with current cvs and see if it changes anything, if not, my guess
would be that it is related to running wine on FreeBSD. AFAIK wine can have some
weird issues when run on other Operating Systems than Linux. Regards

And if it helps with Wine at all, the map "creation" stuff uses an extension to
ADO/MDAC called the ADOX library. ADOX is only really implemented for the Jet
drivers (Microsoft Access 2000). ADOX has the routine that is used to create a
new database file I believe. Anyway, it might give you a clue to look into with
the Wine people.

Look inside the program directory. There are windows ports of mkisofs.exe and
cdrecord.exe in there that the program uses. I can run them with "wine mkisofs"
and "wine cdrecord" and they seem to work when run from the command line.
However, trying to run the program, "wine pebuilder" and, with the XP cd in the
drive, pressing the "build" button: a dialog flashes by, listing a bunch of
steps before the program crashes, stopping on "reading .inf file
(path)/serialmouse.inf" And it crashes even if you choose not to burn a cd or
make an image and instead just try to build the directory tree:

I'd be able to better describe what's going on but it seems to be a problem with
the internal commands for reading and writing files to disk.

In Suse linux 10.0 - when install steam.exe from steampowered.com - it runs fine
until the installation is done which then it gives the following error.
"Please turn off 'compatibility mode':
-right-click on Steam.exe
-select Properties
-go to the 'Compatibility' tab
-un-check 'Run this application in compatibility mode..'"
I have tried both ways of trying to fix it via the Applications Database -both
using winetools and not but to no avail.
Here is a thread which another person get the exact same error as I. The only
difference is he is running the 64bit version of Suse 10 but I am running the
32bit version.
See the thread here:

Dear all,
I got something very similar during the installation of objectiF
(www.microtool.de, also about 80MB download). The installation is very very
smooth and claims to complete successfully but the installed binary only opens
an empty window and then immediately quits.
During installation I got many fixmes
fixme:ole:ITypeInfo_fnRelease destroy child objects [repeated _many_ times]
interspesed with
fixme:ole:DllRegisterServer not implemented (olepro32.dll) [once]
fixme:ole:MSFT_ReadValue BSTR length = -1? [twice]
and once only:

fixme:atl:AtlModuleRegisterServer 0x10016400 1 (null)
and close to the very end:

fixme:ole:SLTG_ProcessDispatch memh.cbExtra is 82

wine --version gives 0.9 from Debian unstable.
I presume I should have run the latest version of wine, sorry. Also I will
redirect the output properly next time I'll go for it or upon request.

wine configs and wine version? My wine configs are default. I don't change
anything after wine first run. Maybe need some native windows files or special
command line to run this prog? Or special flags to build wine from FreeBSD
ports?

Wine's winaspi using read/write from/to /dev/sg?. That doesn't work anymore for
things where ioctls should be used (like scsi query & enum).
I really don't think native will work (i would probably say 100% sure it will not).

Summary: InsertMenuItem, GetMenuString fails with MFT_OWNERDRAW
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.1.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P4
Component: wine-gui
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: andrew7webb(a)comcast.net
A Menu item containing a string, which is also owner drawn cannot be retrieved
with GetMenuString.
A very short C program (attached) will work on windows but fail on wine.
The crucial code is:
MENUITEMINFO mii;
mii.fMask= MIIM_FTYPE | MIIM_STRING;
mii.fType= MFT_OWNERDRAW;
...
if ( InsertMenuItem( hMenu, uItem, fByPosition, &mii ) ) {
if ( GetMenuString( hMenu, uItem, strback, 99, MF_BYPOSITION ) ) {
MessageBox( 0, "GetMenuString worked.", strback, MB_OK );
} else {
MessageBox( 0, "GetMenuString failed.", title, MB_OK );
}
GetMenuString will fail on wine, but succeed on windows.
After examining the problem , it appears that the relevant source code is the
function SetMenuItemInfo_common, the function GetMenuStringA, and the macro
IS_STRING_ITEM in user/menu.c The concept of having a string and the
MF_OWNERDRAW specified seems to cause trouble in the macro.

Does not need XP to run, just needs an XP boot CD to copy files from, AFAIK.
Do you mean "obsoleted" winaspi? And which? Is it wine's or PE Builder's
handling of winaspi that is obsoleted? If this is a common problem maybe it's a
dup. Perhaps I will try installing the windows aspi drivers under wine, heh.

This may well be related to "eLicense" the copy protection scheme used.
It can be cured by INSTALLING (origionally - a reinstall won't fix) and running
this game in win98 mode (probably installs a diffrent form of the licensing service)

Enough answers in wine-users?
This will not be looked at for a long time. This is is why it's "LATER" (after 1.0).
Wine is missing whole that layer. And it's not a simple thing to implement.
Also for ovious reasons you can't use native dlls for these stuff (ntdll,
kernel, advapi, etc).

Sorry I was unclear.
The patch breaks Delphi 1 ide and it won't start.
The patch fixes an internal application that only runs a second or so depending
on the size of and which code runs.
Delphi 1 ide is real before the patch as several components can not be added to
forms. It will compile some project to a working EXE.

"So back to the bug."
Ok.
"Does the Windows version works with latest Wine?"
Not complete installing process.
How is the Linux version different from Windows version?
With the desktop managers and O.S. integrations.
If you want to try (best):
http://www.bricscad.com/download/B4L_certified.jsp
1) you can download linux version (.tar.gz file).
2) Unpack it in your home.
3) Copy bricscad folder in your /opt directory.
4) /opt/bricscad/./icad (to start)
If you can prove it with 2005 and 0.9.x version.
In my ubuntu, are installed wine 20050725, libwine 0.9.2-winehq-1.
Thk
Bye
