The installer to the free (as in beer) Japanese online game Lunia Senki shows
only an almost white window and hangs after accepting the (undisplayed)
license. This happens when using a clean 0.9.57 install. I'll attach the
commandline output from before and after accepting the license agreement.
For reproducing the bug simply download the installer at the included URL (use
the right download button). When running the installer the left option is the
"Accept license" button.

With the latest XQuartz (2.7.11) that includes Freetype 2.7, Wine no longer has
smoothed text. I switched back to XQuartz 2.7.9 and the issue does not appear.
The reason I bring this up is that the XQuartz team says it's not their
problem; it's FreeType's problem. I go look on FreeType and discover that
Freetype 2.7 is more of a "3.0" than anything else, with a completely new
hinting system and defaults. They're not going to budge on that.
This is a bit of an odd report, as I don't really know what/who is the culprit
here. But it looks pretty bad if you're affected by it. in the URL field is a
link of two screenshots (as I can't attach two files). Top is normal, bottom is
with Freetype 2.7.

After patching ieframe as per bug 12406, and installing and starting Microsoft
Document Explorer 2008 as per instructions there, it quickly gives a messagebox
and exits. The messagebox text is the following:
"Microsoft Document Explorer cannot be shown because the specified help

The problem is that msxml3's IXMLDOMDocument_load() is called with paths of the

to open them.

that in Blur, the cars (shown in the menus and in the game) are rendered
without wheels. Before, I had compiled Wine compiled with "-O2

It does not make a difference, if I use wined3d, d9vk or wine-nine-standalone.
But it makes a difference, if Wine's msvcr90, or Microsoft's MSVC runtime DLLs
are used - wheels are always shown correctly with MSVC runtime DLLs.

Log of crash with +relay
On some machines, running ZwiftApp.exe (via RunWithProcess as described here:
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46313) results in a page fault not long
after launch.
As far as I can tell, this only happens on machines with intel graphics
hardware (see bug 46313 for a couple user confirmations).
Included is a log with +relay leading up to the crash. You can use grep -v
'GetLastError' to make it easier to read. As you can see, we're in the middle
of a bunch of opengl calls.
One thing that stands out to me are the glDrawElements calls:
opengl32.glDrawElements(00000005,000004db,00001403,00000000) ret=1403b751c
This does not seem to be valid usage of glDrawElements -- the last argument is
intended to be a pointer to vertex indices:
https://www.khronos.org/registry/OpenGL-Refpages/gl4/html/glDrawElements.xh…
Repro steps, starting from fresh wineprefix on intel graphics hardware:
* winetricks dotnet35sp1
* Download/extract nirsoft RunWithProcess
* wine ZwiftLauncher.exe, wait for any updates to finish
* wine path/to/RunWithProcess.exe ZwiftLauncher.exe ZwiftApp.exe

Summary: Gnome Shell does not show Wine program names in dash
and panel
Product: Wine
Version: 1.3.19
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: uhkeller(a)googlemail.com
In the Gnome (3.0) shell, all running Wine applications share the same
nondescript icon, and their title in the panel is always given as "Wine Windows
Program Loader". Switching between Wine apps using the Dash requires a
right-click on the shared icon.
I have filed a bug report on this in the Gnome bugzilla, and it seems the issue
occurs because Wine sets the WM_CLASS of its Windows differently than Gnome
Shell expects. Gnome Shell expects WM_CLASS to match the .desktop file of the
application, while Wine sets it to "Wine" and the name of the Windows
executable. E.g. for Word 2007, xprop gives me:
WM_CLASS(STRING) = "WINWORD.EXE", "Wine"
while the .desktop file for Word 2007 is "Microsoft Office Word 2007.desktop"
I'm using Wine 1.3.19 on Arch Linux i686.

I have Ubuntu 16.04.2, I installed balabolca (which is a text reader of

I had tried to install other textreaders (like TexAlaud) but always with the

Hello.
The winepath component from windows to linux returns a string with a carriage
return (0x0D).
In particular, when installing dxvk (ver. 1.6)
win64_sys_path=$($wine64 winepath -u 'C:\windows\system32' | 2> /dev/null)
returns:
/home/alex/.wine/dosdevices/c:/windows/system32 + '0x0D'
the next option returns the normal path
win64_sys_path=$($wine64 winepath -u 'C:\windows\system32' | tr -d '\r' 2>
/dev/null)

I am trying to use the software that programs the programmable YQ8003 bike

Summary: Pando downloader hangs
Product: Wine
Version: 1.3.6
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: dank(a)kegel.com
Running the downloader for a game that uses the Pando peer to peer
system, I noticed the UI had hang, the app was still using lots of CPU,
the downloaded file didn't seem to be growing (it was at 1GB out of 4GB),
and the console showed
err:winediag:FILE_CreateFile Too many open files, ulimit -n probably needs to
be increased
lsof showed that PMB.exe has two listening sockets, 25 ESTABLISHED sockets,
96 pipes, one UDP socket, 7 UNIX sockets, 97 regular files, 3 directories,
and one device, for a grand total of 233. 233 is way below ulimit -n (1024).
Perhaps the app had closed lots of peer connections in the hour after
the warning? Which makes it sound like there isn't a bad leak.
No idea what it's doing with all those pipes, though.
It's possible Pando just needs a higher ulimit. Or perhaps it can
operate fine with this "low" ulimit, and the hang is not related to
running out of fds.

A portion of wine console output collected after the event
I'd like to open with a note that I am not submitting this on wine-devel, as I
the only application that has been able to cause these crashes will not run
well enough to reliably reproduce the error without DXVK, and in turn
wine-staging (as far as I am aware, DXVK continues to require a patch in the
staging patchset that has not been mainlined - correct me if i am wrong).
The application which has been causing problems is Grand Theft Auto V, though
specifically Rock Star Social Club (I can't be terribly certain - but the issue
tends to crop up when social club is brought in to the question).
Glancing at the crash info in the terminal (winedbg is actually not even
visible yet as it is too preoccupied with explorer), this is the result of an
exception thrown within libcef.dll, which judging by the name and the platform
which it is used by, is chromium embedded framework - a common offender.
Knowing this, i'll just avoid the social club in-game if at all possible, but
what's concerning is the outcome. Something about the manner in which it has
gone about crashing causes some _very_ eratic behaviour in winedbg. For some
reason, `explorer.exe /desktop` is invoked as a child process of winedbg and
then fails to start. Another instance of explorer with the same parameters is
then started by the child, as well as some concurrent instances (I think - when
you have so many process running that your PIDs roll over it start to get hard
to track who started who) - effectively an explorer fork bomb, though it dies
off fast enough if you get to winedbg and kill it or its parent.

Maybe it is too early for this report, then please apologize and ignore:
The new wineusb.sys assumes that the name of the libusb header file is
libusb.h.
At least on Ubuntu 18.04 the include file is named usb.h. (see
https://packages.ubuntu.com/bionic/i386/libusb-dev/filelist)

Summary: Wine processes take ages to start on Solaris

Winetest takes ages to complete on Solaris, particularly on Solaris 10: about
80 minutes.
I instrumented winetest to trace the time it takes to run each test and the
result is eloquent: starting a Wine process takes 4 to 5 seconds on Solaris 10.
With some grepping of the logs I built the following table which shows this
issue. Note that all operating systems are running inside VMware on the same
machine (one at a time of course), so they should all have the same
performance.
Seconds freebsd81 solaris1111 solaris10u9
0 401 169 0
1 48 220 0
2 8 43 0
3 10 16 15

30-59 3 4 8
60-99 1 1 3
100-119 0 0 1
120- 1 8 9
Also note that this is not the first-process start delay since winetest.exe is
already running. I took a trace with +timestamp but it only showed the last 0.6
seconds of execution so more digging is needed.

Summary: Fallout New Vegas unreliable mouse\cursor, can't move

I got Fallout: New Vegas setup from GOG and found that there's a critical
problem to play this game,
While I launch and get reach to the main menu, the mouse (we said cursor) was
just stucking there but can very hard to move, I have to move the mouse fast
and quick then the cursor just moving a bit.
I'd googled that saying the solution:
1. change the value bBackground Mouse = 0 to = 1 which within ini files.
2. remove the 360 controller within the game setting and the ini files.
3. reboot machine or reinstalling the game.
it's funny that even I'd tried these ways and the cursor finally moving as what
the mouse going but after starting the new game and then I can't control the
player's camera, it just stuck again and couldn't turn the cam around, the
funny thing is the cursor is working very normal in menu\pipboy interface at
this moment. once I switch the window via alt+tab, the problem of the mouse
come back again then the player camera could hardly turn this time!!
even all these ways I'd been through but didn't make it working as what it
should be eventually. I don't think this problem related to Wine but it might
be a bug that related to the Joysticks device control because I googled that
people always said it should be the Joysticks problem to make it like.

When opening Skyrim through Steam, which is running through Wine, I get a
Program Error saying "The program Setup.exe has encountered a serious problem
and needs to close." The details for this are attached below. If I close this
window, the game opens the initial play window, but after clicking play, it
shows the Bethesda logo and then freezes on the Skyrim logo.
If I then switch applications and return, the Play/Load/Credits/Quit buttons
show up, but are missing letters and don't appear to have loaded correctly.
Clicking play or loading a save results in a complete freeze.
Any ideas on how I might be able to fix this?
Thanks so much.

I have experienced this problem over multiple versions of wine and through two
versions of Fedora ( 23 & 24 ). I have also done multiple installs of the OS &
wine so there were many fresh installs to work from.
Attached should be the Wine Debug Log & the Crash report from Origin.

Judging by its movement, some variable is increased while other is not

move the mouse slow to select an option and even in that way it lacks
precision.

Very slow performance when running a program with schedtool only on one CPU.
This Problem appeart between wine 3.1 and wine 3.2
Problem : When running a program which requires to be run on only one CPU (e.g.
heroes of might and magic 3) - if running on Dualcore CPU's the program
crashes sometimes in mp3dec - the entire program runs like in slow motion, even
the mouse pointer moves very slow.
The Program itself runs, but the speed of executed program is too slow for
playing.
Wine Version 3.1 is the last working one correctly with schedtool.
The command is : env WINEPREFIX="/home/hero/.wine" schedtool -a 0x2 -e wine
C:\\\\windows\\\\command\\\\start.exe /Unix
/home/hero/.wine/dosdevices/c:/users/Public/Desktop/Heroes\\ of\\ Might\\ and\\
Magic\\ 3\\ Complete.lnk
It doesn't matter if the program is running on cpu2 or cpu1.

While old apps search COM ports use CreateFile("COMx"...) attempts to detect
the presence of serial interfaces, newer apps use SetupDi functions. As a
typical excerpt:
devs=SetupDiGetClassDevs(&GUID_DEVCLASS_PORTS,NULL,0,DIGCF_PRESENT);
if (devs!=INVALID_HANDLE_VALUE) {
SP_DEVINFO_DATA devInfo;
devInfo.cbSize=sizeof devInfo;
for (i=0; SetupDiEnumDeviceInfo(devs,i,&devInfo); i++) {
HKEY hKey;
TCHAR s[16];
DWORD slen=sizeof s;
*s=0;
if ((hKey=SetupDiOpenDevRegKey(devs,&devInfo,
DICS_FLAG_GLOBAL,0,DIREG_DEV,KEY_READ))
==INVALID_HANDLE_VALUE) continue;
RegQueryValueEx(hKey,T("PortName"),NULL,NULL,(LPBYTE)s,&slen);
RegCloseKey(hKey);
if (*s=='C') { // filter out LPTx
int idx=ComboBox_AddString(hCombo,s);
int num=StrToInt(s+3)-1;
ComboBox_SetItemData(hCombo,idx,num);
if (num==Config.SerialNo) ComboBox_SetCurSel(hCombo,idx);
}
}
SetupDiDestroyDeviceInfoList(devs);
}
The main advantages for this approach are:
* Unlimited COM port numbers
* Much faster than looped CreateFile attempts
Therefore, modern apps use this procedure.
Similarly, apps talking with modern USB HID devices (these devices don't need
an install procedure), do this procedure to find their device:
GUID hidGuid;
HidD_GetHidGuid(&hidGuid);
devs=SetupDiGetClassDevs(&hidGuid,0,0,DIGCF_PRESENT|DIGCF_DEVICEINTERFACE);
if (devs!=INVALID_HANDLE_VALUE) {
SP_DEVICE_INTERFACE_DATA devinterface;
devinterface.cbSize=sizeof devinterface;
for (i=0;
SetupDiEnumDeviceInterfaces(devs,NULL,&hidGuid,i,&devinterface);
i++) {
THid Hid;
union{ // save stack space
SP_DEVICE_INTERFACE_DETAIL_DATA detail;
TCHAR space[MAX_PATH+4];
WCHAR ps[128]; // Product String
HIDD_ATTRIBUTES a;
}u;
SP_DEVINFO_DATA info;
info.cbSize=sizeof info;
u.detail.cbSize=sizeof u.detail;
if (!SetupDiGetDeviceInterfaceDetail(devs,&devinterface,
&u.detail,sizeof u,NULL,&info)) continue;
Hid.hDev=CreateFile(u.detail.DevicePath,GENERIC_READ|GENERIC_WRITE,
FILE_SHARE_READ|FILE_SHARE_WRITE,
NULL,OPEN_EXISTING,FILE_FLAG_OVERLAPPED,NULL);
if (Hid.hDev!=INVALID_HANDLE_VALUE) {
HidD_GetAttributes(Hid.hDev,&u.a);
if (*(DWORD*)&u.a.VendorID==0x27D916C0
&& HidD_GetProductString(Hid.hDev,u.ps,elemof(u.ps))) {
int l=ComboBox_AddStringW(hCombo,u.ps);
ComboBox_SetItemData(hCombo,l,i);
if (i==Config.iUsbHid) ComboBox_SetCurSel(hCombo,l);
}
CloseHandle(Hid.hDev);
}
}
SetupDiDestroyDeviceInfoList(devs);
}
Nice when at least the COM port detection will work in near future.
I can write a small test application to support the bug-fixing process.
Googling for Funkuhr.exe will reveal a source code that contains both routines
already.

Until Wine 5.5 (staging) the following worked, but with 5.6 (staging) it does
not anymore:
wine cmd /c start /b /wait /d "C:\users\user\AppData\alobby"
"C:\alobby\run_unix_openvpn" "C:\users\user\AppData\alobby" user.ovpn
What the "run_unix_openvpn" (chmod +x) Shell-Script does is following:
pkexec /usr/bin/env openvpn --writepid "`wine winepath -u "$1"`/vpn.pid"
--log "`wine winepath -u "$1"`/vpn.log" --verb 3 --daemon "alobby_openvpn"
--config "`wine winepath -u "$1"`/$2"
The error I get with 5.6 is pretty strange:
/vpn.log: No such file or directory (errno=2)ecting stdout/stderr to --log
file: /home/user/.wine/dosdevices/c:/users/user/AppData/alobby
This is used by the Windows application "aLobby" ( https://lobby.siedler3.net/
) (that is basically a multiplayer lobby for the Windows game "The Settlers 3")
to establish an OpenVPN connection via the native Linux openvpn, as there seems
to be no way of successfully running the Windows-OpenVPN via Wine...

Some times ago there was a problem with mouse drifting in Unity- and
Gamebryo/Creation-engine based games, that is already fixed (at least in
Unity), but I still have a major issue with the mouse.
As I think about that fixed drifting problem, I have to think this issue with
slow mouse movement was there at that time, but because the drifting bug, it
can not be recognized. Or maybe it's a new bug, I'm not sure, I mentioned that
old bug, maybe this one is somehow releaed to that and affect other
Unity/Gamebyro games.
Have to try in other games too, to be sure about it.
In 7 Days To Die you have to aim preciesly to the head of the enemies,
otherwise they quickly overrun and kill your character, aiming precisely from a
distant is a key element in that game, so this is a major issue, and like with
the fixed drifting bug, this one renders the game (almost) unplayable.
In the 3D enviroment when I try to move the mouse slowly, just a very little
bit it doesn't move. I have to move it at a certain, relatively fast speed to
make it move, so it is impossible to aim correctly to the small target.
The crosshair moves too much if I move it with a speed that is recognised, or
it doesn't move at all if I move it slowly. Another similarity with the fixed
drifting bug, is that it only happens in the 3D environment but not at
menus,inventory,character,etc. screens.

doing this.
>From the past:
* bug 23701
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23701
--- quote ---
The next crash is due to kernel driver trying to scan PCI config space using
PCI index (0xCF8) and data (0xCFC) ports in x86 architecture I/O ports address
space - a privileged operation.
Theoretically the driver PCI port I/O could be made to work using ioperm/iopl
but that requires root privileges, creating a big security hole.
Another way could be trapping and emulating PCI config space accesses using
Linux supplied PCI info. Though this area is most likely outside the scope of
Wine.

On windows, the Yes has a ClassNN of 'Button1', and No is 'Button2'.
On wine, they're 'Button6' and 'Button7'.
The rest of the installer's buttons are reported correctly, though.

Since the application window is apparently no longer contained by KDE's window
manager, KDE's task bar no longer pops up on mouse at bottom of screen (when
set to autohide) which makes it hard to use multi-windowed applications. It
also (for some reason) means some of the dialog boxes ok/cancel buttons cannot
be pressed. This was seen on the enter text before/after move dialog, but
probably affects others.
This was using chessbase 11. Workaround is to turn off auto-hide to always
visible.
This was working in 5.4 when contained by the window manager and changed in 5.5

Bug #: 30981
Summary: Skyrim: Keys "stick" occasionally
Product: Wine
Version: 1.5.7
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: jeff(a)deserettechnology.com
Classification: Unclassified
While playing Skyrim, one of the directional keys will occasionally stick. This
usually happens when entering a new area (after the loading screen) or coming
out of character management and equipment screens. The stuckedness can be
undone by holding the stuck key for a few seconds and releasing. This happen
semi-frequently.
Also, occasionally something sticks that makes the character move in a very
halted manner. The character will run for three or four steps before he is
forced to walk again. After 6-8 steps, the character will resume running for
3-4 steps. This behavior loops until both Skyrim and WINE are completely
closed. It is not resolved simply by relaunching Skyrim. It may be that this
occurs when a different key gets stuck, but I do not know which key would stick
that way.
These behaviors witnessed in Wine 1.5.6 - 4c7f6f6. I have not played enough
with 1.5.7 to know if it occurs there, but it mostly likely does.

Eric's console changes, circa

seem to have broken winepath (and possibly other
wine console utilities that output plain text
strings for use inside user scripts).
wine winepath -u c:/ | cat -v
used to output
/home/dank/.wine/dosdevices/c:/
but now it outputs
^[[?1h^[=/home/dank/.wine/dosdevices/c:/
This breaks winetricks and probably any number of user scripts that depend on
winepath outputting a valid path.

Hi,
I am attaching two patches for the Debian packaging that is published on OBS at
https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/Emulators:Wine:Debian/wine-staging
The first one adds postints and a dependency on libcap-bin, so that wineserver,
wine-loader and wine64-loader can get cap_net_raw added on installation. Some
games need to be able to send ICMP packets for anti-cheat reasons - see
https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=31145
Adding cap_net_raw means they don't need to be ran as root to do that, which is
obviously bad.
The second patch improves debian/rules so that it does out-of-tree automake
builds in debian/build-$ARCH. This is the first step to allow multi-arch builds
to work more smoothly.
I had sent this as a PR on OBS but I was told to open a bug instead:
https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/789262
I cannot find a git repository to create patches against, so I've done that
manually.

--- Comment #17 from Anastasius Focht <focht(a)gmx.net> ---
Hello folks,
I've found a snapshot via Internet Archive:
https://web.archive.org/web/20130513121947/http://www.videohelp.com/downloa…
Converting from/to .ratDVD format is entirely pointless nowadays. You will have
a hard time to find any content (torrent) in .ratdvd format that is still
seeded.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RatDVD
Anyway, the ticket might be still useful for finding/tracking Wine
insufficiencies.
Fortunately, I still have some old DVD movie 'raw' rips archived to test the
conversion to ratDVD (the other way around). Pointing the app to 'VIDEO_TS' ->
'video_ts.ifo' it properly recognizes all video and audio/metadata content.
With preview enabled I can see the conversion process (stills of the scenes).
At one point it freezes/stops the conversion. In my case: 'Action: Video
Manager Menu (57%)', not even the main movie.

testcase
While working on a CreateSymbolicLink implementation, I noticed it was causing
test failures in msvcp120. While investigating, I noticed some of the created
symlinks weren't getting deleted. Swapping the order of deletion to make sure
all symlinks are removed before the targets fixed the test failures.
Attached you can find a patch that includes my WIP CreateSymbolicLink
implementation and some DeleteFileA tests that prove that this works on
Windows, but doesn't on Wine. As I said before, removing the symlinks and then
removing the targets works fine.
Beware that my test will leave behind a file, the aforementioned broken
symlink.

demonstrates problem behavior when using Chromium
Photoshop palettes (layers, navigator, history, etc) remain above all X11
windows when you switch from Photoshop to another program (e.g. Chrome).
Someone in bug report 29871 reported that if you run `xwininfo` and hover over
the palette windows, you can see that Override Redirect State: yes, which
explains why they stay on top of everything.
The desired behavior is that these windows behave like the rest of Photoshop
and do not remain above other X11 applications.
This has been reported in multiple (probably all) versions of Photoshop - my
particular test case is with CS5.

I also tried with:

I tried on a new hard drive to install a fresh Linuxmint 19.1: all works fine,
but as soon as I update/update the lastest Bionic packages (performing a simple

I can't find which system package upgrade affects wine, and the terminal output
doesn't give me any tips (attachment).

Crash behavior! BTW, It seems the PortableApps Guys haven't upgraded their
Thunderbird Version for some time?)
According to your Bug Guide I browsed through the Wine Bug list, but only old
stuff appeared for Thunderbird, so here are my Terminal Wine Output, and
Thunderbird's builtin Error Report Result. Additionally a screenshot from my
Winecfg, not sure if this is helpful for you though.

The rarest birthstone
Unlike gemstones mined throughout the globe, Tanzanite comes from a single
source that is located in Tanzania, Africa and in close proximity to Mount
Kilimanjaro. Even Tiffany refers to Tanzanite gems as “the most beautiful blue
stone discovered in 2000 years,” which is why they so often end up in museums
or being owned by avid collectors and investors.
Also Read: https://cwordsworth.com/december-birthstone/
Due to the comparative rarity of these stones and the fact that they’re
relatively new to the market, Tanzanite may be harder to find than other
December birthstones. These gems only hit commercial markets in the 1960s, but
from the moment they debuted, they have been superstars.

Summary: Silkypix 3.0 has some bugs
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.16
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: florin(a)andrei.myip.org
I installed Silkypix 3.0 that came with my Panasonic G1 camera - latest version
3.0.1.6 (which I used in my tests) can be downloaded from here:
http://www.isl.co.jp/SILKYPIX/english/p/
Overall it seems to work, more or less. There are a few issues:
1. The installer seems to hang at the very end. I waited for a while, then I
killed it. I'm not sure if this has caused some of the other issues.
2. The menus are invisible, unless I blindly click on one of them, then move
the mouse left-right. After a while they disappear again.
3. The file selector doesn't work very well. E.g., I click Open File, then I
try to move into another directory in the file selector window - except it
won't do anything. I click on the folder, it won't navigate to it. I have to
drop down the top "Look In" element and select the directory there.
Developing the files seems to work fine. Example:
- Open File, choose RAW file
- mess with the menus on the left side if you want to choose different
parameters (or don't, if the defaults are fine)
- go to Development menu, click Development, save as TIFF
Voila, the RAW file is developed.
I have not made any comparisons yet with files developed on Windows, to see if
there are any differences under Wine.
System is ThinkPad T61 running Ubuntu 8.10 32 bit fully updated.
Wine version is 1.1.16
Silkypix 3.0.1.6

The TestBot currently uses the msi Gecko and Mono installers to prepare the
WinePrefixes for the tests.
Gecko and Mono now support a shared install mode which helps speed up the
WinePrefix creation. Unlike their msi variant they may also come in unstripped
variant which could help with debugging.
Faster WinePrefix creation could help the TestBot (see bug 48354) so it should
support this shared install mode. Note that wt-daily already supports the new
mode.

I thought this happened in the past but I didn't find it.
WeChat is a popular chat client that requires a phone number on registration so
I omit the details on installation until someone needs it. Basically get native
riched20, run the installer, and it's done.
Login into WeChat, and you'll find the main window is covered by an
unresponsive ghost window. You can move away that window and the window
underneath is the right, working one. The ghost window shows the initial
content of the working window and will move back when you try to move the
working window.
This happens with 4.20 and doesn't happen with 4.19. git bisect shows that
914b5519b1cd96f9ae19f1eec226e94af96354b9 is the first bad commit.
BTW, after this commit, the WeChat login window will be centered on one
monitor. Before it was centered between my two monitors.
Another ghost that appears when playing videos inside chats happens both before
and after this commit so I think it's another issue.

Steps to reproduce the problem with the demo:
1. install the demo and start the game with wargames.exe. On multicore systems
the game must be started with 'taskset -c 0' otherwise it hangs during the
opening screen.
2. select DirectDraw HAL in the launcher.
3. in the menu start a new game. Here comes the first problem when using the
hw. renderer: the red and blue logos are missing (invisible?). Click on
somewhere in the middle of the empty screen where the blue spinning logo should
appear.
4. click on the start button on the briefing screen. The game crashes at this
point. The crash doesn't happen when using the software renderer.
I see the same crash with Wine 1.4.1, 1.6.2, 1.7.17 etc.

terminal output
The game needs native d3dx9_36 to run otherwise it crashes early with
>err:d3dcompiler:compile_shader HLSL shader parsing failed.
With native d3dx9_36 the game starts but you will notice that many things are
missing from the game:
- the menu is empty, only background image is drawn
- the user interface (health bar) as well as pop-up game tips, hints are not
displayed (from time to time the game pauses to display those hints and you
have to press <Space> to proceed)
- water is not rendered correctly
You have to install native d3dx9_31 beside native d3dx9_36 to display the
missing objects in the game.
One more thing worth mentioning: the game generates many files under
'drive_c/users/<username>/Temp'. They contain compiled shaders or something
alike. These files have different size when using native d3dx9_31 compared to
the ones generated with the built-in d3dx9_31.
Make sure to clean this directory after you installed native d3dx9_31 and want
to switch back to the built-in to reproduce the bug, because the game re-uses
the already generated files.

Hello folks,
this was fixed by commit
https://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git/commitdiff/077b4391d442e927a2a59b5af…
("oleaut32: Rip out the old typelib marshaller."), part of Wine 3.21 release.
Related tickets with same 'Fixed by sha1' reference:
* bug 14026 ("Installshield Wizard does not exit after it finishes")
* bug 14078 ("Rewrite typelib marshaller on top of NDR functions")
* bug 26768 ("oleaut32 needs stubless proxies implemented on x86-64")
Even if this ticket is older, I'm resolving this as dupe of bug 14026. It has a
generic summary mentioning Installshield and was already resolved some time ago
(part of Wine 4.19 release).

reproduce, start the game, right-click the building and click the tank icon at

on the screen that says click to continue. Click the mouse and then wait for
more tanks to arrive, after 4 or 5 tanks have arrived the program will crash.
I've attached a truncated relay log (hopefully leaving the relevant part, the

I spot glitch with tone and balance in Alphatron SE (It's VSTi-plugin).
All actions have been performed in LMMS, with using the VeSTige.
When I worked with it in Windows Seven, I do not change the tone and
balance. Everything was default (tone and balance was 0% in VeSTige regulators
) .
When I run the Alphatron SE in Wine on Linux, the tone do not concide with
other instruments in project, and the balance was offsetted in left channel.
For normalize it, I change the tone to -20% , and the balance to +30% in
VeSTige.
Upd: After re-open LMMS project, Alphatron SE tone breaks again, however the
parameters of tone regulator was not change (-20% remains). After turn the
regulator, and subsequent recover value to -20% the tone becames normal.
P.S. The balance does not break after re-open project.
Why it happens?
P.S. Sorry for my broken English.

The task dialog that you can't click on to select an option/task when running
under Wine
Task Dialog is practically non-functional because clicking on a task/option
does not do anything.
The Batch Wizard tool in CSS HTML Validator 2020 has a Task Dialog that does
not work properly.
>From user report running CSS HTML Validator under Wine: The window in the
screenshot opens after clicking the green cross "Add Target" on the toolbar in
the Batch Wizard. The window is live, in the sense that I can select any of the
three options (the mouse moves the blue rectangle and selects one), but nothing
happens when I click an option. I can drag the window around with the mouse --
it isn't frozen, and the Cancel button works, as does the red button at upper
right that closes the window.
To reproduce:
1. Download trial version at
https://www.htmlvalidator.com/private/css-html-validator-wine-bug-x64-setup…
2. Install and run program.
3. Go to the Batch Wizard (F2).
4. By default, the task dialog is disabled in Wine because it does not operate
properly. To force the use of the task dialog (and toolbar which also has
issues per another bug report), choose Options->Force Toolbar.
5. Select "Add Target" from the toolbar to display the broken task dialog.

Please note I am no expert on these things, but is there a WDM driver or

Summary: Ambiguous hint in login field
Product: WineHQ Bugzilla
Version: unspecified
Hardware: x86
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: bugzilla-unknown
Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
Reporter: hi-angel(a)yandex.ru

While trying to login, the hint inside input field asks one to enter "login".
Login is an ambiguous entity, it can be nickname, phone number, email, a bunch
of things. I associate it mostly with a nickname, but entering a nickname in
place of login doesn't work, because the site requires email instead. It would
be nice if the text field have been explicit about it.
# Steps to reproduce
1. Go to https://bugs.winehq.org/
2. Look at the login fields, i.e. those where one should type login and
password
## Expected
The field where email have to be entered should say "email"
## Actual
The field for email says "login"

Hello,
The game runs fine but map mouse scrolling doesn't work properly. You can
scroll down and right but you can't up and left. I tried virtual desktop,
different in game settings, DXVK via dgvoodoo2, Proton, Wine-Staging, copying
dinput8 from Windows 7 and set it to native, to no avail.
Please tell me what logs you'll need and I'll provide them.
Thank you :)

After installing MFC42 and SPR32X60.ocx it was possible to load and configure

Since Wine 1.7.9, I am finally able to launch Fiesta Online
(http://fiesta.gamigo.com/en/).
The connection to the game server with the client is done in 3 steps:
1) Enter your account name/password
2) Select the server you want to connect on
3) Select your character
Step 1 & 2 works fine, but when I select my character at step 3, it tries to
connect, and it just fails saying "connection failed" and brings me back to the
first menu (step 1).
I have tested on both openSUSE and ArchLinux, and the issue is the same. It
works fine on Windows on the same machine.

I want to create packages in distro-specific formats (more exactly, I use
Kubuntu, so the packages gonna be deb) for some apps for Windows. It would
allow
* updating them automatically with a package manager (something that Windows
clearly misses) for all the users;
* reusing large apps for all the users;
* preventing it from being modified by malware run without root permissions.
The proposed solution is to create a subdir in /opt/wine-all and mount it using
overlay2 above Wine prefixes automatically on Wine start.

Every way I try to build and run Wine is blocked. I'm at a loss of how to get
it working on Fedora 31.
Run without distro Wine installed, it fails because it needs runtime
dependencies which I can't find. Nothing seems to list dependencies for that.
Run with distro Wine installed it fails with wineserver version error. Change
version and it fails with kernel error. Search and eliminate any other
wineserver and it still fails. Reboot, whatever nothing works.
Tried master and stable branches. Still no go.
The building Wine source guide and/or Wine completely fail here.
Is there some way past this or do I need a different distro like Ubuntu? Maybe
GDB can list the dependencies which I haven't tried?

Technically one could unpack the outer archive and patch setup database to
'BlockFutureClientOS=0'.
But that's officially not supported and rather discouraged. Aaron Stebner
mentioned this method as well here:
https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/astebner/2007/01/04/why-net-framework-3-0-…
(hack .NET Framework 3.0 language packs to install on Windows Vista).
I've tested the following 'WinVer' ranges with Wine to be working, taking
builtin installer blockers into account:
----------------------------------------------------------------
| .NET Framework version | min. WinVer | max. WinVer |
----------------------------------------------------------------
| .NET Framework 2.0 | Windows 2000 | n/a (Windows 10+) |
| .NET Framework 2.0 SP1 | Windows 2000 | Windows XP/2003 |
| .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 | Windows 2000 | Windows XP/2003 |
| .NET Framework 3.0 | Windows XP/2003 | Windows XP/2003 |
| .NET Framework 3.0 SP1 | Windows XP/2003 | Windows XP/2003 |
| .NET Framework 3.5 | Windows XP/2003 | Windows Vista |
| .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 | Windows XP/2003 | Windows Vista |
| .NET Framework 4.x | Windows XP/2003 | n/a (Windows 10+) |
----------------------------------------------------------------
Some sections in 'winetricks dotnet' recipes are outdated nowaways:
* unnecessary Windows 2000 setting
* unnecessary overrides to builtins (which actually have nasty side-effects,
such as bug 47484)
* unnecessary registry manipulation/fixups (.NET/NDP versions)

Terminal output, wine 1.3.11
Found this bug while testing bug 13165.
When going in game in the Far Cry Demo, a lot of the game is incorrectly
rendered with a bright blue color (like the water).
I've attached a tar.bz2 file with a screenshot and terminal output.
I'm willing to test patches and assist troubleshooting.
