Summary: Window refresh problem with GroupBox and Tabs
Product: Wine
Version: 20030813
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-binary
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.com
ReportedBy: gabriele.giorgetti(a)teamfab.it
Hello, I've got an application which purpose is to just reproduce the wine bug
I'm gonna explain below. (I can't upload the application itself yet. I'll do
that as soon as I'll be able to).
There is, basically, a window, a tab control with four tabs, some GroupBoxes and
a few editboxes. (Please, see the attached .gif to get an idea).
Here we go with the interesting part...
If you run the application you'll realize that some editboxes are not
drawn at all and some other not correctly drawn (Expecially if you go through
the tabs...)
Now if you minimize and then raise this window or drag part of it out of the
screen and then back in, everything in it is correctly "painted".
The pic tabwin_ok.gif shows the application correctly drawn, while in
tabwin_bad.gif you'll see the application in its bad behavior (Like described
above).
Another interesting thing to note is that if you go through the tabs backward
( from the last one to the first one ) the window contents is correctly drawn,
not if you go from the first tab to the last one. This is always reproducible.
This bug is 100% reproducible with Wine 20030813, 20030709, 20030618 (the
versions I could work with...)
I'm actually trying to fix this by myself (an ugly workaround will do the job as
well) but any help to get me to the right direction will be appriciated.
You're more than welcome to ask for any debug or strace log.
Thanks.

This bug makes it impossible to run Flash MX in any practical way.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Install FlashMX on a Win2k machine.
2. Copy FlashMX folder over into Fake Windows Folder.
3. Run Flash MX by typing wine Flash.exe
either
4. Make a trivial drawing.
5. Attemp to save the project.
or
4. Attempt to open a flash project.
The program feezes and produces a stream of error messages that fly past too
quickly for the eye to see. I will append these to a later post because for some
reason now, every time I try to load Flash.exe, this happens:

[1]+ Stopped wine Flash.exe
It has been suggested that the following commands will fixe the problem:
[AppDefaults\\flash.exe\\DllOverrides]
"shell" = "native"
"shell32" = "native"
"comdlg32" = "native"
"shfolder" = "native"
However, after adding these flash does not even load!
sal@raynard Flash $ wine Flash.exe
sal@raynard Flash $
... thats right, NOTHING! Well. I have found that if I reset the entire computer
I can make it load again, but untill I reset it wont party. So unfortunately I
cannot even give you error messages!
Symptoms:
Flash starts up normally, and appears to be working fine. Guy, fonts etc are
perfect.
Attempt to save or load or export a FLA file, and the whole thing seizes.
Apply suggested fixes to Config file, and this causes Flash to not even load.
Thanks for your attention!

Wine fails when installing Microsoft Word 2000 and Office 2000 under Red Hat
Linux 10 (Severn beta). I get the message "Installing this product requires the
Windows installer. An error occurred when installing or upgrading the Windows
installer." The same error occurs using CrossOver Office 2.0.1.
I was able to install MS Word and Office under Red Hat 9.0. I realize that this
is probably a Red Hat problem but I need to get Wine running under RH10 and am
looking for any help.

I run artsd, and then started the game, well, it worked. I got a very nice, long
and interesting intro, but it was mute. The good thing is that the graphics was
perfect, and the performance wasn't bad at all. When the playing phase started,
I had to drive a car, I think I was an escort to someone. The car graphics ware
quite bad, the textures ware not loading correctly, so it was semi-transparent.
I got half way round a corner and the game crashed. the dbg found a problem in
D3D8.DLL, but I'm not going to worry about it until Robert fixes the directsound
problem. Of course, if some d3d8 developer wants to work on this, I can post the
d3d8 log, the dbg output and bt, and whatever else may help.

It appears that DIJOYSTATE2 size is 272.
Also it appears that the code below that (line605 of dinput/joystick/linux.c)
and line 914 if dinput/joystic/linuxinput.c both bay have buffer overflows in
their memcopyes since its uses the length passed to it,not the sizeof of the

So, where do I put this urlmon thing?
Am am also a bit worried because urlmon is a binary. Where can I find the source?
(Should the tests use something that is not in mingw by default?)

By getting
http://programming.ccp14.ac.
uk/ftp-mirror/programming/mingw32/home/janjaap/mingw32/platform-SDK/import_libs/
liburlmon.a.gz
and adding -luuid at oleaut32 linking every test compiles except for dsound.

Simple apt-get install mingw32-runtime/unstable fixes it (no dependencies).
However, it stops a little later as
dsound.c:380: undefined reference to `IID_IDirectSound3DBuffer'
No idea yet.
