I'm a bit uncertain of what is managed mode and what isn't. I run it in a window
rather than fullscreen, if that's what you mean. (When using EMI's OpenGL
renderer mode switching doesn't work for me, and there are still some stability
and functionality issues with the Direct3D renderer.)
I haven't made any debug traces yet, but I did attempt regression testing.
However, that turned out to be a bit harder than I had first hoped:
2003-01-21 14:16:00 CST works fine.

Is this helpful at all? There is a distressingly long period of time during
which the bug could have been introduced. As you suggested, disabling keyboard
auto-repeat "fixes" it though.

This patch <http://cvs.winehq.com/patch.py?id=7553> checked into
CVS a couple days ago causes Hamster 2.0.0.1 to crash on startup

Reverse this patch and it starts up fine. I can't figure out
what causes this since it looks like a straightforward search
and replace. I did make clean and a full rebuild to be sure.
Hamster is available at <http://www.tglsoft.de/misc/hamster_en.
htm>. To run this app under Wine, you may need to set
[Setup]
Startup.OLEServer=0
in Hamster.ini.
