* The bug doesn't seem to consistently appear. I think some people have reported getting in after several tries.
* IIRC at least one person has reported the problem being fixed by switching to a certain build of Wine (that from "TKG"). However, "TKG" reported that this seems to just be a fluke based on the above.
* Only people from Debian-based distributions seem to be affected; others are not. This alone suggests that, regardless of whether there is a bug in Wine, the condition can be traced back to a recent change in the Debian ecosystem that would not have affected anyone else. From provided apt logs and dates, and the problem's apparent relevance to network code, bind9 (et al.) looks like an extremely likely culprit. Even if downgrading the library doesn't help, I'm not sure I want to rule it out just yet: there may be a difference in config files, or possibly the prefix is corrupted by one failure.
