I tried yesterday running a clean environment with latest devel branch wine and still got this issue both using Win XP and Win 7. The no-cef-sandbox argument is not working anymore
Try this:
- winetricks corefonts.
- Win7 mode set globally in winecfg.
- WinXP mode for C:\Program Files\Steam\Steam.exe in winecfg.
- -no-cef-sandbox argument.
Steam does work for me in this setup.
I've been having issues like this, or no fonts appearing, for ages; no luck with either Win7 or WinXP mode, 32- or 64-bit prefix. With wine 2.0.0 on Ubuntu 16.04.1 the above yielded a login dialog with no text.
Once I added the -no-dwrite argument when running Steam.exe it all magically works again! Thanks for the info.
I have seen similar behaviour with winetricks -q corefonts and trying to login, I can't see a thing but login works if you type correctly. I didnt try disabling dwrite but I quess it would work.
