The reason that Fallout3 crashes when starting a new game is that some of the shader effects added require SM 2.0 B or higher. Oblivion only required SM 2.0. Windows users with Radeon 9x00 cards or Intel 965 chipsets have similar crashes.
I thought Wine had support for SM 2.0-3.0 (earlier than 2.0 not being supported). Is this not the case, did Wine skip 2.0b, or is this a bug in the implementation?
Before doing such claims you should check what drivers for those cards support.
Please everyone post what video card and driver version they have.
I have two nVidia video cards: GF 7900 GT and GF 9600 GT.
I tried both cards, with same results: "crash when loading or starting new game" and if I use bUseFaceGenHeads=0 the game will crash after few seconds. So I think it is wine problem, because both of my cards supports SM 3.0.
Video drivers: 177.80 (latest stable)
