So I downloaded the source (0.9.59 and 0.9.60) and tried that hack I described in the bug #3747, but when wine is compiled from source (either 0.9.59 or 0.9.60), the game's exe won't even run - wine just reports some error while reading memory at some address (using a Win32 dialog box) and exits.
Don't know what's wrong this time, but personally I don't care about the game any more, and I'm not interested in investigating this issue any further (also because it's somehow problematic).
