I appreciate the info, but I fear that discussion of end-user workarounds may serve only to derail discussion of a real fix unless the Wine developers really have no intention of working this issue.
As long as users struggle with the Wine+PulseAudio combination, users will inevitably come here and complain. I'm not saying this is desirable, nor the right thing to do, but it's unavoidable.
